I used to believe in true love.
Until he broke me.
Lesson learnt.
Where there’s love, there’s lies.

I used to believe I wasn’t what she needed.
Until I let her love in.
I’ve changed for her.
I want her to believe in me like I need to believe in myself.

Isaac James stayed out of my life for five years. He wasn't to blame, after all, protecting me imprisoned him.
Now he’s back. The chemistry is still there, the tension is still there, the love is still there… the pain is still there.
Isaac James was my rock, my first love… my family.

Olivia McKenna has always been my weakness. I’d do anything to protect her, which I proved, despite it taking me to prison.
I’ve stayed away, trying to do the right thing. I thought I was still protecting her. But, I’m lost without her… even if I’m not sure I can be what she needs.
Olivia McKenna was my forever… for always.

My Review:

Twisted Truth was a full-on angst-fest, I kid you not, it was unrelenting and relentless! Angst is not and will never be on my list of favorite things; and when it accompanies repeated and devastating heartbreak, stubborn and uncommunicative characters that can’t get out of their own way, and constant tension and conflict in the story – ouch, I was actually moaning! I know some of my book buddies eat that up with a spoon as reading about someone else being a bigger bonehead or being worse off than themselves can seem uplifting – too bad I am not a devotee of that cult… However, I was in it for the long haul as I respect the author and was invested in the story. Although for me to survive to the ending without grinding my teeth into dust or tossing my precious kindle into the wall, I needed to put that beloved Kindle down several times and distract myself with something pleasant. First, it was wine and then – oh look – kittens! Yet when I take in the story in total, it was worth a bit of personal discomfort as the storyline was inventive and intriguing, just lacking in emotional balance. I will be proactive and seek out and achieve my own equilibrium by following this book with more wine and then a light and amusing story for my next read. Sigh, Maria Macdonald, I love you but seriously, you need to lighten up! Want a kitten?

The cover!! The designer has done wonders and the cover for Twisted Truths is more than eye catching in every sense of the word. Beautiful cover for a beautiful book. I may be a little biased here about Twisted Truth because it contains some of the author’s older characters, from books I loved. You could read this as a standalone, Maria has been clever in the way she has written those back characters into her new story. But - you’d be doing yourself a disservice. To get the most out of this book, you need to go back to the beginning, back to Love Reflection and read that first series. Maria brings you full circle with Twisted Truth, and although you won’t necessarily miss anything by not reading those early books, I honestly think you’re reading pleasure might be a little diminished if you haven’t. Still - standalone it is, and a very good one at that. Twisted Truth will bring in new readers for this author, I have no doubt.

Twisted Truth has a tinge of YA at the beginning, and they are some of my favourite chapters. Maria Macdonald encapsulated the character of Olivia perfectly. You could read the difference in tone and attitude as you read through those early chapters. I loved it, you really get a sense of Olivia’s character right from the offset. The author then moves into NA once we leave those chapters behind.

This is the complete story of Isaac and Olivia - or Via - as Isaac calls her. Twisted Truth is intense, angsty, edge of seat at times and a little bit of naughty, (okay, there’s more than a little but it’s proportionate to the plot). There’s frustration aplenty in the story as well, and not just from the characters. I think the reader will feel it too, which is not a bad thing whatsoever. This is a book you can get lost in, the pace with which Twisted Truth moves is just enough to keep the reader turning those pages and craving more. Some sensitive subjects are tackled by Maria Macdonald, done with respect I have to mention.

Character wise, Via is not your typical romance lead. She has a very definite mind of her own and it shows through most of her actions. I liked her a lot. I did need a little warming up to the adult that she became but it didn’t take long. Isaac is your alpha male with only one woman on his mind. Some of his actions needed a good flipping slap across the face, again the story dictates his actions and they are understandable. Yip, Isaac is a hottie and those people that hoard ‘book boyfriends’ will most likely take Isaac under their wing. The chemistry and sensuality between the pair is off the charts. I loved how the author showed that very distinctly. Some scenes were steamy, phew! Supporting characters fit, and moved the plot along at times. Some I liked, some I didn’t, and that’s what they are there for.

I’m not plot spoiling, in fact I haven’t really mentioned plot at all. The blurb for Twisted Truth gives you enough and I don’t want to give anyone anything. I believe you need to dive into this book and let it run, let it take you where it may. If you haven’t read this author and this is your first book from Maria Macdonald - I absolutely envy you. You are getting a cracker. I would say this is up there with her best, if not on the top. Loved it, highly recommend it!

My first book by this author & not my last.

Twisted Truth is a great story that captures everything I love in a contemporary romance with the added cherry on the cake of a childhood to adulthood love story.

There's military ops action, angst, danger, at times I got frustrated with the characters but it all leads to a happy ending. The author balanced everything out brilliantly and had me constantly turning the pages.

THE PLOT
Via and Isaac grew up together they are cousins but with Isaac being adopted he isn't a blood relative.

Isaac is protective of Via and they love each other but never do anything about it until Via is about 18, by this time Isaac has been in the army.

When Isaac sees bruises on Via from her ex he see's red, beats him up getting himself thrown in jail and out of the forces.

Lives change from that point and Via doesn't see Isaac for years he refuses her visits.

There's secrets and lies, Isaac goes into Black Op's and stays away from Via to protect her but hurts her in the process with his cool and distant behavior. he never tells Via the truth about who he really is what he does now he can't but to Via it would explain why he is the way he is with her, distant to protect her and protecting her is something he has done all his life.

Throughout Twisted Truth Isaac is warm then cold, this is were I got frustrated with the characters, he tells Via he wants her but he knows he can't until his life is free from his operations.

Twisted truth is good, there's more than enough action and emotional events to keep you turning the pages.

*Spoiler if you have read previous books, I haven't read any previous books by this author but discover a death or deaths of a couple in this book, relations to both Via and Isaac are characters from a previous book so I'm going to stay away from that one and I'm not sure why the author has done that? why not used a distant relative for a funeral scene?.

In summary Twisted Truth is recommended for action, angst, passionate moments and a childhood friends to lovers story. Told in first person dual pov and can be read as a standalone.

Twisted Truth by Maria Macdonald was my first read by this author and I enjoyed it. This story has twists and turns that will keep you intrigued.

Isaac and Via have grown up together and have always been there for each other. They love each other, but as they grew older, circumstances have kept them apart. When Via is hurt, Isaac is quick to defend her, but ends up in prison. They spend years apart and Isaac has kept secrets from Via. To protect her, he is distant and cold to her.

So, begins Isaacs and Via’s journey. Their story was heartbreaking and frustrating. Both characters make choices that hurt them, but usually with good intentions. Isaac’s love for Via pushed him to protect her and make decisions without talking to her. Via is hurt and devastated with how Isaac is with her. Can Isaac and Via find a second chance at love or will secrets finally tear them apart?

I enjoyed Twisted Truth by Maria Macdonald and am looking forward to reading more of her books. Twisted Truth was a wild ride of emotions, heartbreak and angst. I will note this book deals with a slight taboo subject, but she does give a warning for readers who may have objections. Overall a good read that will keep you interested.

Maria wrote one of my all time favourite couples Dane and Nova to me their love could not be rivalled but then she gave me this gem to read. Isaac and Olivia his Via and I didn't just fall in love I was obsessed with their story.
From the moment we met Via and Isaac I knew nothing was going to be easy for them. Missed opportunities, misunderstandings and separation take their toll on not only their friendship but on them as individuals.
I loved Via she's ballsy and funny but where Isaac is concerned she's vulnerable. He's her one and when he leaves her whole life changes, her plans for the future are all gone. This is where she could have been a weak character but she's not, she lives by her own rules and doesn't back down.
Isaac he's what I would call deep, mysterious and secretive but one thing shines through his determination to protect his Via no matter what it costs him personally. I understand the reasons for his actions but every action has a consequence and the hurt caused can fester and cause irreplaceable damage.
This story has the twists we've come to expect from this author, it's dark and dangerous and heartbreaking. The 'family' are all back and seeing them again made my heart sing.
I loved meeting the next generation of this crazy bunch and look forward to more in this new series.

This book feels like all my favorite Maria Macdonald moments put into one phenomenal story. The feels, the characters, the heartache and happiness, and the absolute love laced with utter sadness are rolled into one amazing story that I did not want to put down. One that I've read more than once because it's impossible to not fall in love with these complex, enthralling, and passionate characters.

From the start, Via and Isaac's connection is captivating. Despite the opposite way their lives seem to take them, you're rooting for them to succeed, for them to come to their senses and find each other again. Between Via's soft but headstrong personality and Isaac's dominating, bad boy persona with an air of mystery woven deep together, you want, with every fiber of your being, for them to win. You want them to find their HEA and put their past behind them. A past filled with lies, secrets, and deceit.

One of my favorite things, especially if you're already a fan of Maria's books, is the family aspect of the story. I feel like we've grown up with these characters and getting a glimpse into their lives years later is comforting and humbling while getting an insight into a whole new series of characters that we grow to love with absolution. Via and Isaac's story is the next generation of excitement, intrigue, and greatness from Maria Macdonald.

This book is hands down, one of my top five of the year and you'd be a fool to pass this gem up.

"Where there's love, there's lies."

OH MY GOD THIS BOOK... *Cries*
My emotions were all over the place.

First of all Twisted Truth is the first book I have read from the lovely Maria Macdonald, and I'm HOOKED!!!

"...my brain says to forget him, but my heart still loves him, and I fear it always will."

Okay Julia.... calm down... Take a chill pill....

I just finished Twisted Truth not even five minutes ago and tears are flowing! Isaac and Via's story is a rough one. Love isn't easy, but you have to fight for it! But fate seemed to want to keep them apart....

This is a story about love and letting go. Fighting for that love like it's your last breath. Hearts will be broken, tears will be shed, this is a love story that is meant to be remembered! One of my favorite reads of this year, and I can't wait to see what Maria Macdonald comes out with next.

Macdonald is fast proving herself an incredible author, and one that's been moved up to my short list of must read authors. Twisted Truths was a great contemporary romance novel with an unusual plot, which is always a bonus in my eyes. Set in London I'm not giving anything away that the author hasn't already warned about when I say that it deals with a mild taboo of relationships between cousins. I really liked the heroine Olivia AKA Liv and Via. A tattooed striptease artist with a fiery personality and attitude to match. I've never liked weak and meek heroines, so to read about such a ballsy one was a refreshing change. Part of her armour is that she shared something intense with her cousin Isaac, only to have him leave her and cut off all communication, breaking her heart in the process. She's understandably wary when he comes back into her life and blows hot and cold, leaving her confused over how he really feels about her, or her feelings for him. Macdonald writes great descriptive scenes to set you in a location and picture it, there's no waffle or parts of the story that feel irrelevant or slow the pace down, but this time I couldn't give a five star rating as I didn't feel for the characters. Something was missing that would have formed the emotional connection that had me shedding tears of happiness and sadness as I did in her last novel. I personally felt that the pivotal moments between Olivia and Isaac, and the action scenes, were explained rather than written to be felt. I'm clearly in the minority with my feelings here, but even with that missing element for me, this was an entertaining read that I really enjoyed and would recommend to others.

You know, there is always one author out there who you desperately wish more people knew about. An author that gives her all to her words, her stories and her characters. An author whose books are brilliant. Maria MacDonald is that author for me.

I have read every book of Maria’s so far, fallen fast and hard for characters she's penned and stories she's slaved over. Only, with Twisted Truth, Maria demolished all her previous works and produced something way above anything she's ever written before.

Twisted Truth follows the next generation of characters we know and love from the Entwined Hearts series. Twisted Truth is a complete standalone and you can totally get by without reading those books. But you should, because they're good! Anyway, Twisted Truth is Olivia & Isaac’s story, and these two are stunning. I love a good friends to lovers book. Couple that with an intense second chance romance and some heart pounding angst and well, I've found me a winner.

I was helpless, unable not to be drawn into Mr. Isaac James, he was everything I want in a romance, alpha-hero. This guy also has an edge, a dark, animalistic, gritty edge that added so much suspense and mystery to the story. His relationship with Via, his protectiveness and possessiveness over her left me all hot and bothered and a little, okay a LOT, needy!

Twisted Truth is a novel that captivates and consumes. It’s not an easy, breezy read. No. There is so much to this, so much emotion and passion. From beginning to end, I did nothing but FEEL! The connection was there. The passion was there. The intensity was there. Everything was there and it was delivered beautifully!

Six, this book is EVERYTHING, stars!

Twisted Truth is my first book by the author and in the first two chapters I was hooked.
It has a little bit of something for everyone, there's first love, suspense, a little military and a whole lot of uncertainty among the characters.
Isaac I immediately loved, when his reasons became clear I adored him for what he was doing.
Olivia on the other hand, she may have taken some warming up to, at times she had her head on straight an then boom lets take a ride on the crazy train an go way off the rails. Her back an forth had me questioning her more than once throughout the book.
In the end I was happy, though at times I wasn't sure where the book was heading.
By the last few chapters I loved all of the chraracters, well except for Doreen!
I look forward to reading more from this author.

I really enjoyed this book. It was so good and had me thinking about what would happen next. I totally get why Issac done what he did but I also understand why Via was the way she was. I felt so many emotions reading this book which made me love it even more. It dragged me in and made me feel as if I was living the story. I can't wait for more 😃 True love knows no bounds ❤️

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Macdonald and it won't be the last. She pulls you right into the book, I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. You feel the emotions right along with the characters in the story. This book is based on Issac and Olivia and the struggles to be together. The first hurdle was they were cousins, but really not. They have been raised as cousins. Then Issac joined the army, but got leave to come home for Olivia's birthday and tragedy strikes. Now Issac has been taken away from Olivia for 5 years and when he comes back into her life the chemistry is still there even though they have both drastically changed, Olivia more so. Issac was Olivia's anchor and first and only love until he broke her. There are secrets, lies and betrayal. Will Olivia and Issac get past all of their issues and be able to forgive each other?

A cocktail of Love, Death and Devastation that is shaken, stirred and poured to perfection...

I first came across Maria Macdonald earlier this year when I reviewed Dazed. I loved her writing style and her storytelling, however I have to admit that going into Twisted Truth I was expecting one thing and I got got something completely different and unexpected. Firstly, I need to say a little something— the blurb for this book does not give anything away.. well, not the things that make your eyes pop and keep your arse glued to the edge of your seat and your heart in your stomach and your teeth biting your lip... Basically, I was so freaking (pleasantly) surprised by this book. Secondly, is this book where all the hot British guys are at? Holy freaking cow, if Isaac wasn't deadly hot enough, you also have Noah and Toby... oh, and Uncle Dane—by the way, Maria, you and I are so going to have words over that one! Twisted Truth is just that—a hot, deadly, tearful and exquisite trail of twisted truths. Did I say tearful? Because at times there was some ugly girl crying going on. There was also some serious swoonage.

Plot wise, this book is the gift that keeps on giving. I don't want to go into detail because in my opinion every person going into this book deserves to experience all the twists and surprises that it possesses for themselves. One thing that I will point out, probably what threw mw at first, is the first cousin relationship thing. This is a British romance (woop woop) and in the UK said relationships are legal. Is it still a taboo subject—absolutely. However, what I will say is that this is something that you get used to pretty quickly and in all honesty, although I was apprehensive about it at first, Maria Macdonald carried this out tastefully and earnestly. Even if you are someone that struggles with reading this type of relationship in a romance, in my opinion you will still love this book. On the development front, this book is pretty much flawless. It read beautifully with no room for confusion or misunderstanding, even though the plot is complex and sophisticated. This is a story that's been ingeniously mapped out and executed.

There are a some rather sensitive topics broached within this story. Again, I don't want to say what they are as it will take away from the mystery of the plot. I also don't particularly think that they are necessarily on a trigger level. What I mean is that they have been approached rather sensitively and although they are big emotional pressure cookers within the plot, the detail isn't there to shock and bewilder the reader. If that makes sense? Don't get me wrong, you can't help but be affected by it, but it's all very tactful. These are VERY poignant parts of the story and as such you will feel the impact they have on the characters, but it won't be too much. This story is definitely a journey you go on not just with Olivia and Isaac, but also with their supporting cast. I loved Toby and Helena, I thought they were just fabulous secondary characters that although were a great part of the story never took the spotlight from its leads. Also, Shelly and Noah... they may not have shared the as much page space as Toby and Hel, but I just so freaking loved them. Don't get me wrong there were times where I may have yelled Ludacris' Move Bi*ch at them, but actually in the end I really wanted to know them on a lead characters basis. Basically, what I'm saying is that Maria should most definitely write their stories... well, I already know that Shelly and Tobias are going to get their stories told... buuuuuuut, Helena is a cool chick and Noah is hot geek god...

Anywho, Isaac and Olivia. Boy oh boy, there is chemistry and then there's IsaacOlivia chemistry. It zings and hums and it's so palpable that at times it feels like your heart is being squeezed right in your chest. Their connection is so strong and wired that every single emotion you experience through them... with them is heightened. There were times when it felt like my blood ran so cold it was freezing in my veins, others where my heart stuttered and felt like it would jump right out of my chest, then there were times where it was ripped right out and completely torn apart. These two have this pull that is hypnotic and beguiling. It hooks you and draws you in. I just found myself completely enamoured with them. Olivia is strong and feisty, but despite that she has this softness and vulnerability that allows you to completely empathise with her. She is a direct contrast to Isaac and his smoke and mirrors. He is such an enigma for the most part of this story, just when you think you've got him figured out, that he has it all figured out for himself another thing hits and it's like BAM! There was never a point where I thought they were too needy or whiney, stupid and blind—YES, but overall they are a reader's dream.

I have to say that Maria Macdonald completely outdone herself with Twisted Truth. Her plot was solid and grounded, her characters were completely empathiseable and likeable, oh... and she brought the heat! This wasn't a sex fest, but every intimate interaction was reverend and scorching and packed with emotion and feeling. Do you know what? This book is not far off perfection. Even with the Portuguese/ Spanish language mix up. I can see myself reading it again and again and again and loving it every. Single. Time! I can only hope that book two isn't an excruciatingly long wait away!

Maria has kind of gone back to her roots with this one. If you read her Entwined Hearts series, you’ll know what I’m talking about. The kids are all grown up now and it’s Olivia and Isaac who take center stage here. The first chapters show Olivia’s early childhood from 6 to 16 and they are funny, endearing and just too cute.
But, then the story starts to get more grown up, just like the characters. On Olivia’s 18th birthday, she finally gets what she wanted with Isaac, but it’s short lived. Isaac’s actions for him to leave for over five years and when he returns, he won’t talk to her.
Why won’t he talk to her? That’s what Olivia struggles with and feels she is to blame for even though she knows differently. Isaac’s problems are his own, not hers.
Via, as Isaac calls her, has enough worries of her own too. Her charmed life spiralled out of control when she lost Isaac, she went kinda crazy and lost all the options ahead of her. Now all she has is her night time at clubs, dancing.
There’s plenty of twists in this story that leave you gasping for more, but the overall sense of family and righting a wrong, shines through. It’s intense and angsty at times, I found myself getting frustrated a little too, but that’s not always a bad thing. It wasn’t the writing, or the story, just the characters, lol, mostly Olivia, as she is the beautiful stubborn, determined but troubled lead in this tale. I wanted to bash their heads together and tell them to just flipping well talk to each other.
It was nice seeing little glimpses of the older characters from the previous series, and word to the wise. Although it’s not necessary, if you haven’t read the Entwined Hearts series, you should, just to get a better feel for this one. You won’t be sorry, I assure you. It won’t stop you getting lost in this book though, it’s a page turned all by itself with some serious subjects being handled with Maria’s usual aplomb.
As to the sexier aspect of the story… well I told you about Via, but Isaac isn’t hard on the eyes either. He’s one hot, tough guy with a single-minded resolve to keep Via safe and protected. From everyone, including him. He’s guarded, sexy and tries to fight what they have together, but it’s impossible. Those scenes were full on steamy. I needed a long cold drink to cool down. That’s how powerful their chemistry is. Its sexy, sensual, off the charts hot.
So, if you want a steamy, suspenseful read to warm you up this autumn, grab a copy today.

The author is looking for an honest review.

3.5 stars

When I started reading this book, I never expected how it was going to be. I really liked the twist at the beginning on why Isaac left. It's usually for a really dumb reason, but I felt it was honorable with what was happening in the story. It's starts off telling you Olivia's side when she was young, how she and Isaac were inseparable. They were best friends and how he protected her throughout her young life. When she got older the feelings changed and at some point the were able to voice that, but then he just left. He left Olivia wandering what she did wrong and why he won't talk to her. Olivia broke that day, and she was really never the same after he left. Five years later he is back, and Olivia doesn't know what to do about it. Her feelings never went away, but what happens when she lets him back in?

Olivia is such a strong character in this book. Even if she doesn't show it. She lost everything that she ever wanted at 18, made some poor choices, but she still went on. She regrets some of the things that she has done, but she will never regret Isaac. When he comes back, you notice little changes in her. You can see how much he effects her, but you can see how much she has hidden away until he is there. I liked seeing the vulnerable side of Olivia, but I also enjoyed seeing her find herself again. Isaac, I really hated him at the beginning. How he went about some of the things he did not only frustrated me, but also wanted me to know why he did it. You don't find out everything really until close to the end, but during the book you see how much he tries to keep Olivia safe. How he wants to protect her from everything and to see how much this man loves her, blew me away at times. That is what I loved about the story. The more you get to know these characters the more you want to see them get what they want.

Twisted truth is truly the best name for this book. There is so much unsaid at the beginning, but its funny how some people know some things and others know nothing. At times I think there was a little too much going on throughout the story and how it jumped from personal to business confused me at times. I did really enjoy the book and the characters in the book. I can't wait to read Toby's book. I think that he needs a good story.

Twisted Truth contains so many feelings and you are left wondering what is the truth and why the secrets and lies? The one thing you will see though is that no matter what these two were meant to be soul mates. This is my first book by this author and I cannot wait to see more on this series cause the mystery of what is the truth and what is a lie keeps you hooked from the beginning to end trying to figure it out.
Isaac James AKA Kane puts on a good front when he separates these two alter egos of his. How he does it is beyond me, but I guess that is one of the requirements to be in the Black Ops. They are both hot and tempting though. haha He protects regardless of who he is at that moment. Case in point he stopped at nothing to protect Olivia AKA his Via. He went to prison for her and has no regrets on this. For five years he is gone from Via's life.
Via has no clue where he is and why? You will see she is strong even while hurting for her one true love. What we do see though is the chemistry is still there even with all the pain and lies. We see that there is no bond like family even with the lies, deceit and secrets that become revealed.
Toby (Isaac's brother and Via's closest friend/cousin) is awesome and love how he tortures Isaac when it comes to Via. I'm hoping that the next story is on Toby and Shelley. He may be keeping secrets from Via, but he had to protect her just like Isaac was doing.
Not only are we given a story about Via and Isaac, we get some twisted truth when it comes to the family. The bond between the Uncle and Isaac is an eye opener and leaves you speechless. One of the things that many not agree with is the cousin thing; however, I want to point out two things here so as to not deter others from reading this awesome story. 1) Issac and Via may be cousins; however, he is adopted so they are not blood cousins 2) this story is based upon the UK where their laws are a little different and cousin relationships are not prohibited like in the US. Put this aside and you will see that over all the lies, secrets and deceit that take place in this story, that Isaac and Via are meant to get a second chance at their HEA. This is one emotional roller coaster ride you will endure, but you will fall in love with them and will be patiently waiting for the second Twisted Truth story to be released.

Bittersweet return…

If you have read the Entwined Hearts series than you may feel just like I did when reading this first entry in its spin-off series. If you haven’t read it, please, READ THAT SERIES! I can’t recommend it highly enough. While Via and Isaac’s story could be read stand-alone, the emotional punch was even harder knowing what went on with their families before.
This time out I was…

Excited. To see what was happening with much-loved characters and find out what their kids were up to.

Happy. To be reunited with characters I love. L-O-V-E. (I can’t stress that enough.)
Sad. I admit it there were tears. The “I can’t believe it”, “don’t let it be true” variety… Tissues were definitely required. And a bit of chocolate…

Lost (in a good way). In Isaac and Via’s story, mesmerized by the twists and turns.

“…believe me when I tell you that although I was gone, you never were. Not from me. Not for a second.”

Drama. This author knows how to write it, make you feel it, and above all – ensure you care about it. I felt Via’s pain and Isaac’s resolve as their wants and desires faced one obstacle after another. They loved each other, that wasn’t up for debate, but the water under their bridges was very murky, maybe too much to navigate through. Even they found it difficult to wade through as they wobbled under their own decisions at times.

Twisted, hard hits and lots of emotional turmoil meant no breaks at all until the last page was turned. I can’t wait for more even if my heart may not be able to handle it…

Reviewing on behalf of Amo's Book Corner.

Olivia and Isaac are cousins, but more than that they are in love and always have been. It's as though they were made for each other. But things have happened in Isaac's life which had a negative impact on them both. Isaac went to prison and then disappeared for 5 years which devastated Olivia to the point that she fell off the wagon and screwed up her future career. Isaac did what he had to do to keep Olivia protected, but Olivia doesn't know any of it - to her, he simply disappeared and wanted nothing more to do with her. Both are still broken mentally and emotionally. They are still very much in love with each other, but can this be enough? Can anything work between them or are they better off staying away from each other?

So much happens during the course of this story - there are fights, cold-blooded kills, kidnaps, deaths & funerals, sex and dancing.I don't want to go into detail about this though as I wouldn't want to ruin the suspense for future readers.

This book is not for the faint-hearted - it is dark, very dark! Before you embark on this roller-coaster of a ride, you need to brace yourself for complete edge-of-your-seat action! I was gripped! I certainly didn't expect much of what happened to happen and this is what made it an even greater read for me. This is a book that is well written and gets it claws into you from the outset. An easy 5 stars from me!

Olivia McKenna has been in love with her non-blood cousin, Isaac James for years. When she turns 18 they spend one night together but in the morning he is gone and will spend the next 4 years paying for proecting Olivia.

Now Isaac is back and Olivia can't understand why he won't contact her. Olivia believes they are meant to be where as Isaac believes that he is bad news for Olivia.

Will Olivia be able to show Isaac that they are meant to be and that he is good for her or will his anger and his job jeopardize any chance of them being together?

This was a great book about love and the lengths we will go to protect the ones we love.

I hated how Olivia's life turned so upside down after the night with Isaac due to her pain over losing him and how she blamed herself. She is definitely not the same person at the beginning of the book as she is as at the end.

Isaac was very mysterious and I was completely surprised with his new job. I wasn't 100% sure how he even landed the job but it definitely suited him. Yet he still wanted to protect Olivia at all costs but that means breaking her heart.

I loved how everything progressed and even though you had a feeling how things were going to turn out you had no idea how they were going to get there!

Great read and I look forward to more from this author!

Twisted truth was an interesting story that has some enjoyable moments within it. It did take me a little bit to get into the story, but I found the story to be enjoyable. The chemistry between the characters was apparent from the start of the book and only grew as the book went on. I love the way the author wrote the story in a way to show the emotions of the characters and the type of relationship that the two main characters had. There were a lot of twists and turns throughout the story that I really enjoyed.

Via I really enjoyed and found that she was a strong character that went through a lot.

Isaac was a protective and caring character that I really liked reading about. I had a lot of questions about the character at the start of the story but found that there was more to the character then I originally thought.

Twisted truth is about the relationship between Olivia and Isaac who goes through a lot of hard times and heartbreak with each other.

I enjoyed reading about the relationship between the main characters and also with the secondary characters. This story was enjoyable and I liked the writing style of the author and the way the story flowed.

Where do I start with leaving my review for this book! I honestly don't think words would be able to describe the emotions this book brought out in me.

After reading the Entwined Hearts Series by Maria, it was lovely to catch up with some of the characters again. Even though it did open up old wounds.

I loved the 1st chapter in this book. It had me laughing out so loud at the beginning. I can just see that happening in real life as we know children have no sensors on what comes out of their mouths.

The book makes its first twist towards the end of the first chapter. This then sets the scene and the precedent for the rest of the book. The book catapults you from one emotion to the next and one minute you hate Issac and then the next you are left loving him and wanting him to be the one that wins Liv over. There are truths, there are lies and then there is the heart stopping love that they share. But can they overcome the lies to get to the happy ever after they deserve or will Issac's secrets tear them apart?

My review honestly doesn't do this book justice. However, I hope when you read it you will understand what I have spoken about.

Twisted Truth by Maria Macdonald
“Love that can withstand time, 5 stars”

Liv has loved Isaac since she was a little girl. He was the one she wanted as a teenager and then when she got him it was short lived. Isaac basically disappeared, now years later he’s back and avoiding Liv. If you really love someone can you let them go or will they always be with you?
Isaac has always loved Via (Liv), but life took a nasty turn and kept him away from her. Now he’s back, but he’s not ready to claim his woman. His hands are dirty and he doesn’t want them to rub off on her. Sometimes the best intentions fail. What will happen if Isaac’s life in the Black Ops touches Via? Will they make it out to the other side?
I absolutely loved everything about Twisted Truth. Isaac is the definition of an alpha male with a dark side. His light is Via, she’s his everything and the way he loves her from afar is something else. Liv has basically been going through the motions since Isaac left and even now that he’s back. Liv is strong in a unknowing way. She is a survivor.
Maria gave us more of our favorite characters from previous books and made us fall in love with their kids. If you loved Love Renewed then you will love Twisted Truth. Maria takes us on a dark journey that comes out with a happy ending. Half the time I didn’t know if I loved or hated Isaac James. There is a fine line between love and hate, which side will you fall on when it comes to Isaac?
“She was his only one. His heart felt cold and pain and flint, if it did not feel her touch. He may never be hers, but she would always be his. His forever, for always. As time ebbed away, his body would turn to sand, but his soul would remain, in the ashes, in the dark. And it would still hold a single love. Her.”
Plot- 5/5
Character- 5/5
Heat- 5/5
Writing style- 5/5
Overall- 5/5

This is the second book I've read by this author and it was another great read, I was hooked from the first page and spat out at the end. The story follows Isaac and Olivia, Olivia has always liked Isaac more than a cousin should, he's always been there for her, one fateful night changes their relationship and life beyond recognition. There's a lot of lies, missed chances, twists and turns but ultimately a love that has survived a separation of years. Although both Isaac and Olivia lost a part of themselves that night, I felt Olivia lost the most. Isaac still continued with his career while Olivia lost hers. She could have ended up bitter about that, but she made the best of the situation. I loved her character, she really was ballsy and feisty. She didn't let Isaac off lightly either, he was hot and cold through most of the book towards her, so I wouldn't have blamed her if she walked away from him. I did really like Isaac, I understand why he acted the way he did towards Olivia, he thought he was doing the right thing, but I wished he trusted her sooner with his secrets. Be warned, you will ugly cry so keep tissues handy!! A great start to a new series.
