What if a love, once lost, came around for a second chance?
Ruby Miller's future was on track when she entered her freshman year of college at the University of Chicago. Everything seemed easy, possible, and full of hope, especially with Brent by her side.
However, life didn't go as planned and obstacles arose setting her on a very different path from the one she had envisioned. Now, five years later, she’s piecing her life back together and moving on from everything that once tore her apart.
What happens though, when the one person who carries every memory of Ruby's happiest and darkest moments appears unexpectedly before her? Will she carry on or dive into the depths of his arms and their forgotten tomorrow?
*Forgotten Tomorrow is a compilation of Forgotten Yesterday and Deciding Tomorrow from the THESE DAYS series, and can be read as a standalone novel.
Renee Ericson is the author of More Than Water and the These Days series--After Tuesday, Forgotten Yesterday, and Deciding Tomorrow.
Originally from the Midwest, she now resides in a small town just outside of Boston with her husband and three children.
Most winters, Renee can be found skiing with her family on the slopes of the White Mountains. During the summer months, she likes to spend every spare minute soaking up the sea air at the beach. All those moments in between, she is talking to imaginary characters and caring for her children.
So I guess I have to start this review with a little story. I loved More Than Water (Kisses/Us). Once I love a book this much, usually I start searching about other books by this author. This way I found about this series and I put them on my TBR imaginary list. And then I saw that Renee was relaunching the second and third book, but I never read the first one. Renee told me that you could read this one as a stand-alone. So I decided to give it a try. And what can I say? It was an incredible surprise.
So, as soon as I started it, the first few chapters didn't make much sense. Who was that Ruby? A girl working on a restaurant, completly normal, until the day she sees herself in front of someone from her past. I couldn't quite understant why she was freaking out like that. But then we had a few glimpses from the past, after she graduated from college. She and Brent had history and not the kind that could be ignored. So once those questions were answered, it left us with Ruby, Brent and a second chance.
I saw that the first book was about how they met and how they started dating. Even without reading it, you can completly enjoy the experience. It will just be a story about a couple that didn't work at first but now have a new opportunity to try. Will this work? You'll have to read to find out ;)
The only thing that bothered me while reading was the pace. It's kinda slow. Not in a bad way, but not exacly my type. I'm an anxious person. I need things to move fast. But the story is so detailed that you can enjoy netherless.
Don't be afraid to try this one out. Normally, second chances books are full of drama. You can ugly cry with the majority of them. But I can guarantee that this one, if you start crying, won't be of sadness. It will be of joy. You'll have the chance to see what happened to them and how they're accepting their past in order to have a future together.
It's a sweet, lovelly, incredible (have I said sweet?) romance. A must read if you are in a mood of some sugar overdose ;) Don't skip this one, trust me.
Forgotten Tomorrow is love story about two people (Brent and Ruby) who fell in love in high school and into college, but through circumstances beyond their control, end up losing each other (and almost themselves), only to find love again later in life.
Part One is very much "New Adult", in that it takes place while Brent and Ruby are in college. It gives you some background about their past together, and everything that they go through together, and then essentially alone. In this first part, is where you can really see how much Brent and Ruby were in love with each other, but also how young they still are. They make a lot of mistakes, and don't really know how to deal with them, which leads to a lot of heartache and regret.
Part One leads nicely into Part Two, which is more of a "Second Chance" type of story. Brent and Ruby are more grown up now, but are still struggling to deal with the past. Each one is still deeply in love with the other... but they're both unsure if they can make amends and start again.
Throughout the story, after seeing everything... all the pain... that they put themselves and each other through because they both felt responsible, I couldn't help but root for Brent and Ruby to make it. I recommend this series to anyone who believes in love and fate and second chances.
More Than Water is one of my favorite books and I have been wanting to read other books by this author. Forgotten Tomorrow is different than More Than Water, but still so good! Loved it. This book is more emotional. This book is about finding love again and being happy again. It’s about being lost and being found. A great second chance story.
Ruby and Brent are in love and they are ready to start college together. Five years later, Ruby is still a college student and a waitress. Brent is a professional soccer player. One day, he is a customer at the restaurant where Ruby works. They haven’t seen or heard each other for five years. Something caused them to break up, but the love never went away. The next day, Brent is again a customer at the restaurant and he wants to talk to Ruby. He asks her out to catch up.
It’s a little awkward between Ruby and Brent at first when they go out. They don’t know what to say or how to act. But the conversation flows easily after a while and they start to relax. Brent wants to see Ruby again before he has to go back to LA, the other side of the country. Ruby wants to see him too, but she knows that will only make saying goodbye harder. Their goodbye is difficult, but things are different now than they were five years ago.
I haven’t read After Tuesday (book 1) yet, but I didn’t have the feeling I missed something of their past. The author made it clear in the beginning that they are in love and need each other to feel whole. Also the flashbacks proof that they loved each other very much. When they meet again, it’s clear that their story isn’t finished yet. Their break up was painful, but the love is still there between them and they missed each other. They grow fast closer to each other again.
Ruby is strong, caring and sassy. She works and studies a lot. What happened years ago, only changed her a little bit. She was a wreck then, but she found the ability to move on. She has a plan now. Her world changes again when Brent comes back in her life. She has never forgotten him and still loves him. She’s afraid to get hurt again, but she wants to try because he makes her feel again.
Brent is strong, loving, caring, loyal and determined. He was also a wreck years ago and tried to forget Ruby, but that didn’t work. He regrets leaving her. He missed her a lot and wanted to be with her. He didn’t think he would ever see her again, but fate brought them back together and Brent doesn’t want to let her go ever again. When he’s with Ruby, he’s happy again. He loves soccer and he’s amazing at it, but it doesn’t make him happy like Ruby.
In the first part of the book, their past is revealed through flash blacks. I had an idea what caused their break up, but I didn’t get it totally right. Their past made it very emotional sometimes. My heart broke sometimes. The author’s writing was so beautiful then and it intensified the emotion. This book made me feel. Brent mended my heart every time again. Brent is a fighter and wants to do anything to be with Ruby. His love for her was very beautiful. Ruby is more scared than Brent, but I did understand every worry. Fate may have brought them back together, but it won’t be easy to get to their happily ever after.
The secondary characters are also amazing. Cody is Ruby’s nephew. Cody could be stubborn sometimes, but he only wants the best for Ruby. He was there for her when things were bad, so he does everything he can so she doesn’t get hurt again. Mara is the best friend of Ruby and was also a friend of Brent. Mara didn’t like Brent when he left and she was there to comfort Ruby. She also only wants the best for Ruby.

"You said love is patient, and maybe it is. Maybe love can wait forever. But I'm not love. I'm just a girl in love with you. My love might wait, but I cant. I cant do it. I cant sit here and wait for my life to begin with you."
OH MY LORD! Just in love, completely in love with this book more. Mainly by Brent haha These two are the mixture of boldness and charisma! I twisted a lot for them, I swear as never sprained both for a couple stay together. They fought so why is not it? I'm in the clouds and do not want to get off of them so early, I loved deeply. Fucking amazing.
There are people who go on in life never experiencing love in all of its forms.....But there are few that are lucky enough in this life to know what love really means like Brent and Ruby's. Even with all its ugliness sometimes, Love still hold you, confines you, even if you let it go, it will always finds a way back to you. This story is captivating and beautiful all the way around. Even at the parts when you want to hate it, the love that is shown between the characters will give your heart high hopes not letting any space left in there for hate!
The book starts with former childhood sweethearts, Ruby and Brent meeting again unexpectedly. the story is about taking a chance even when there are some huge obstacles in the way.
if second chance love stories appeal to you I would definitely give this one a try.
*Forgotten Tomorrow is a New Adult standalone novel previously published as Forgotten Yesterday and Deciding Tomorrow. *
Originally reviewed as Forgotten Yesterday: “Then I'm still waiting. For you to find your way back to me.”
This novella packed an emotional punch and is not a standalone, you need to read After Tuesday first! I loved the way the story flowed. There was NO WAY I could put this story down as it brought together the past that Ruby tucked away in a drawer to hide the pain of her "Forgotten Yesterday" with the present day when Brent comes back in to her life after five years. They were pulled apart all those years ago, but it seems like fate is bringing them back together. I didn't want it to end, especially with the last line reeling me in...AAAAaaaaaa I need more NOW!! I cannot wait to find out how Ruby & Brent will be Deciding Tomorrow.
Originally reviewed as Deciding Tomorrow: This is NOT a standalone, you will need to read After Tuesday and Forgotten Yesterday before jumping in with Deciding Tomorrow. If you have not read them, then you need to! The entire series and this conclusion to Brent and Ruby's story is beautiful.Brent and Ruby make you feel. You are not just reading their words, you are feeling them. Their emotions are real, passionate and could make anyone believe in love. You almost find yourself caressing your kindle and sighing at the love dripping from the pages.
"Second chances only come around once, and I’m not wasting this one with you."
I love how their story came back together. Hope and Fate.Hope for the future and being able to bury their past demons and then fate. Fate is what brought them back together. Reading their story you simply cannot imagine these two not finding their way back to each other. I will miss Brent and Ruby and the beautiful all-encompassing love they share.
"Omnia vincit amor et nos cedamus amori" is from a poem written a long time ago by a man called Virgil. The loose translation means, love conquers all things, so we too shall yield to love."
Forgotten Tomorrow is a touching love story by Renee Ericson ,and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this touching story. Renee Ericson has given us an emotional story about finding love again and being happy too. The characters are so well written and the secondary characters are also awesome and everything together makes this one touching story. The author has weaved such a touching story of true love that is whipped away by circumstances and some tunnel vision. Brent and Ruby had fallen in love while in high school and then in collage ,but because of circumstances that's out of of their control ,ends up losing each other ( but worse themselves) .But only to find love later again. In the first part Brent and Ruby is in college ,and lets us get to know their background and their past together, and everything that they go through together. Also in the first part we get to learn and see just how much they really loved each other, and just how young their were. They have really made some major mistakes maybe more then some, I don't think they really don't know how two handle or two deal with with each other or things, which leads to regret and heartache . Part one takes us into part two really nicely ,which I think is more of a second chance love story. Brent and Ruby are more grown up now, but still seems to be struggling to deal with their past, but their still in love with each other .The problem is they don't know if they can mend and start all over again when they left off. As I'm reading this touching story I found myself cheering for this loving couple ,because I could feel the pain their are go through ,because they both feel responsible for everything their been through. I could tell you more about this touching story ,but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this awesome story ,you won't be disappointed.
***This is not a standalone, read After Tuesday before reading this book*** ***Also, this was previously published as Forgotten Yesterday & Deciding Tomorrow***
Do you believe in soulmates and that there is someone out there that completes you...that you aren't whole until you meet that special person? Brent & Ruby are the epitome of that concept. It will give you hope to find your own soulmate or be thankful that you already have your soulmate. This book was so worth rereading...I had forgotten what I loved about this series & this book in particular. Ruby & Brent's story ripped my heart out & by the end of the book it felt like all the pieces were back together. Ruby is finally getting her life back on track after losing not only her baby, but also Brent during the darkest time in her life. They get a 2nd chance when they run into each other unexpectedly. You will cry with Ruby & Brent & you will find yourself hoping that their love will heal all their wounds and transcend all the obstacles in their path. This is an amazing book about soulmates, fated love, second chances, hope and healing. Don't miss out on this amazing series!
I really struggled reading this book, with the back and forth of past and present. Now I am not saying this was a bad book, over all it was an enjoyable read. There is a lot of back story and some of it you did need so you could understand the rest of the storyline. The emotional level of this book did bring a few tears to my eyes, I just wish there was some fun or funny stuff that would have made me laugh. Having said that, this book is a true love story. From the time Ruby and Brent meet to when the find each other again life really gets in the way. With all the ups an downs and twist an turns of the emotional rollercoaster we call life. I will say they do get the HEA but it is a long climb up that hill to get there. If you love to read love stories with some baggage and emotions involved this is the book for you. I recommend this book. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
Forgotten Tomorrows is an emotional, second chance read. First part we get the background, Brent and Ruby are a young couple who love eachother. They have all their dreams planned for when they finish college together. Only when one dream is attainable, the other person makes the choice to let them go even if it breaks their heart and almost destroys them. Second part Now it's five years later and Ruby is working as a waitress to support herself and guess who's sitting at one of her tables none other than Brent and his fellow teammates. Needless to say they are shocked as neither expected to see the other after so many years that they are awkward with eachother. Brent can't stop thinking of Ruby so he goes back and asks her if they can catch up. When they get talking again they find that they still have the same feeling for eachother. Great Read
This book is the previously written books 2 & 3 in the series Forgotten Yesterday and Deciding Tomorrow put into the one book. I haven't read book 1 After Tuesday but I don't think it matters as he flash backs that go throughout tell you what happened.
It took me a while to get into this book as maybe the flash backs were too much, handy if like me you haven't read the first book but if you have I would think it might me pretty annoying. I would have like to have read more of the book from Brent's PoV instead of just the end.
I did find his book slow going in parts but the emotions were well written in that you could feel what Ruby was going through. If you love second chance love stories then this is for you

What an emotional read. The entire story touches you in deep places. Ms Ericson weaves a touching tale of true love attained and snatched away by circumstances and tunnel vision. Ruby like many of us makes some mistakes mainly because she has to analyze it all and use logic instead of her heart. She thinks she is doing what is best for this young and broken love but that's debatable. Brent has loved her since he met her but he is broken too. When their lives and their love take major hits can they stand firm. Love and family help Ruby but who can help Brent. The pain and angst rolls thru you to touch deep places in this story of hurt, love, forgiveness and understanding. Working together can make everything obtainable. Wonderful characters and great writing make this a book to read.
