TWIST

Twist is the second book in Kylie Scott's Dive Bar series. I loved it! This story was highly entertaining and the characters were completely endearing.

Joe Collins and Alex Parks 'meet' for the first time when Alex decides to come out of her shell and meet her online pen-pal who she met on a dating site months ago. You see, Joe and Alex have become very close in these months. They get along so well, and everything is supposed to be perfect when they meet... but there is one very big problem. Alex thinks she is meeting Eric. Eric who is Joe's brother. Eric, who set up the dating profile and never used it. Alex is not happy about this information. She feels betrayed.
"I know it must feel like you don't know me, but you do. It was just a couple of details. But the person talking to you, that was me."

I loved the way Alex and Joe met. I love that Joe took care of Alex when she first got there and talked her into staying for awhile to spend time with him. I seriously LOVED the start of this book. The first half was perfection. I read it cover to cover with no breaks. It was such a fun story that kept a huge grin on my face.

Joe and Alex's friendship starts to grow, and eventually develops into more. We all know those feelings they have between them have been there for much longer, but it was nice to get them to see it. When Joe has something traumatic happen in his life, I loved how Alex was there for him. Her friendship was unconditional. I adored Joe and Alex and how Alex started to see Joe.
"Joe is smart, funny, loyal, sweet, hard working, kind, caring, and generally amazing in all the ways."

Honestly, this book was on it's way to being a 5 star favorite of mine, until closer to the end. I loved Joe so much that I took it very hard with his change of behavior. Not saying I didn't understand a lot of where he was coming from, but

Another thing I loved about this book was the Nell/Pat/Eric story-line. It was great to catch up with these guys and see a bit of their story that was introduced in Dirty. Both Joe and Alex have a great set of friends and I loved to see their relationships with them. Friendship in general was such a huge part of this story. I also adored the message that the perception of beauty is different for everyone, and the best kind of beauty and allure comes from within.
Perhaps some people's allure came from the inside out. A good thing. Their ways and their words did the wooing instead of their physical appeal.

Twist felt real and honest. It was funny, entertaining, sweet and sexy. By far one of the best friends to lovers stories I've read in a while. And I truly did love the 'twist'! This is one I would definitely recommend!

Best to fall in love with a personality than looks

I know I talk about my hubby a lot in my reviews and that’s because he’s my own true love story. Well, in this case, reading Twist was a wee bit close to home. See, when I first met my hubby he did not look like the guys I had previously gone out with. For starters, he had shockingly bad taste in clothes…hello, Tazzie Devil tie (shudders). He also grew his hair past his ears…I was a short back and sides type of girl. At the time his worst offence…was a toss-up between us who weighed more (lucky, age helped me out with that one). Look, he was far from unattractive, but on first impressions, his appearance was not what attracted me to him. BUT…I SCORED when it came to personality. This man holds legend status (in my eyes) when it comes to thoughtfulness, affection, possessiveness and dedication. Basically, Kylie Scott has taken parts of my hubby and created Joe. I absolutely friggin LOVED Twist.

It’s not often you can get sucked into a book from page 1. In Twist, I was sucked in and not let up for air until the last page was turned. This left me sitting up at 11:00 at night with an awesome book finished and not enough time to write the review. I HAD to do this book justice and I know I’m not always firing on all cylinders close to midnight. I wrote down a few words to remind me of my feelings…and then proceeded to toss and turn until way past midnight thinking of ways to express my love for Twist. So, in essence, I should have just written the bloody thing.

These characters are alive. I mean, I could see them and I felt like I knew them by the end. I love the author's ability to make you fall in love with flawed characters…with perfect tendencies. By this I mean, they can appear good looking to us, but to themselves, they see faults. This doesn’t always apply to looks alone, their personalities can have flaws too. When these imperfections affect your life and happiness, it can take an outside force to get you to acknowledge these quirks. Sometimes, they’re not as bad as you think. A little contemplation can help you acknowledge them, and work towards fixing them if they need fixing or live with them if they're just a wee quirk.

The start and finish of this story had my emotions going haywire. What we are treated to in between is the stuff of magic. Joe and Alex’s love story was not smooth sailing but it was an adventure. There are hills, mountains and rivers to cross to get to their happy place. We also get the joy of catching up with some beloved characters. Unfortunately, those poor buggers are having their own versions of Mt Everest to climb. Your heart will break for them but the glue to fix it, comes from seeing them have such great friends and family by their side.

Twist, took me to the Dive Bar to catch up with friends. It was stage diving, dirty and full of twist...with a chaser to come.

It was bloody AWESOME!!

****

My late night edition -

I promised myself I wouldn't do anymore dodgy late-night reviews so I thought I'd get some notes down to prompt me in the morning.

Bloody cringing...Bloody horrible...bloody good...bloody funny...bloody hell...bloody sexy...bloody pretty-faced douchewaffle...BUGGER...bloody sad...bloody twit...no bloody way...bloody excellent...YAY!!!

➦Kylie Scott's books have been a hit or miss for me ever since I've read her Stage Dive series. And even Mal from Play- love him to bits -couldn't save this book for me with his little appearance at the end.

➦And this is really purely a personal issue here, a lot of people have and will enjoy this book just fine. The writing is great, the story flows well and the pace is good. My primary beef, so to speak, is with the characters. While I have remained somewhat neutral towards them for the first half of the novel, they annoyed me to no end in the second half.

➦First of all, imagine: you've meet someone on a dating site, proceed to communicate with him via email for months and he becomes sort of like your online boyfriend. And then, out of nowhere, he suddenly vanishes and stops all contact with you. Your move?

➦I mean, personally, I would probably avoid going to his birthday party so you can surprise him in front of all his friends and family. Especially when it turns out you're surprising the wrong person.

➦Because, like, there has never been anyone on the internet pretending to be someone else. So from here on I make a mental note to myself about the heroine not being the sharpest knife in the drawer. But, naturally, I let it go since... who hasn't done stupid shit?

➦So, if you're intrigued by the premise, you can give it a shot. Lots of people loved this book. I like reading about all kinds of flawed characters but it has to not interfere with my enjoyment of the book.

➦A doormat heroine is one of my pet peeves, and this one here, was one of the worst ones I've encountered in a while. And the hero, he seemed to be living on his own personal planet. He came off as one of those passive aggressive people who piss you off by just being there while doing absolutely nothing. So as much as it pains to say it:

I truly enjoyed this story the twist was cute and the characters were all entertaining. The hero Joe and heroine Alex have a well-established friendship and their fall into love was very believable. The story starts when Alex takes a chance to meet the man she’s been chatting with online in person. Though things don’t go as she has planned she does decide to stay for a bit.

”If it doesn’t work, in a week and half you go your way and I’ll go mine. We’ll be friends at a distance again.”

I loved how all the characters from the prior’s book storylines continue to play out during this book. I adored how Joe was written he was pretty perfect. Well, that is until the drama hit and our hero lets everyone down including me. Thankfully the sexy, lumberjack, sweetheart, and the guarded, graphic designer, do get things back on track. This was a well-done friends-to-lover story that did hit a snag but proceeded to get it right in the end!

My starved libido was well beyond the rough-and-tumble stage. No more hiding or denying, sticking to the sidelines of life. It was my time to step forward and be brave. When it came to Joe Collins, I was more than ready to say yes.

It's official. Kylie Scott has another winning series. And here I thought nothing will ever beat her Stage Dive series. Well, move over Mal, because I have another blonde beast that I'm crushing on. He's big, he's bearded, he's broody, and he makes my ovaries sing. Joe. *Happy sigh*
His golden mane flowed down over his wide shoulders, a beard covering the bottom half of his face. I guess it kept him warm in the winter, but seriously. Who needed that much hair?

With her signature witty banter and humor, Kylie Scott delvers another swoony and addicting read that will have readers hooked from cover to cover. Just when I thought I loved Vaughan, in comes Joe with his silent intensity and beard, and totally wins me over. Alex Parks fared no better. She was a goner at first sarcasm.

Alex has never had a serious relationship. As a matter of fact, just the thought of commitment gives her hives. Boyfriend? No thanks. They'll only lie and betray you. A hot one night stand to scratch an itch? Sign her up! But then she meets a man on a dating site that makes her rethink her stance. She's never met him, but their email exchanges are more intimate then she's ever been with any other. When he stop responding to her emails, she figures why not surprise him...only to get the surprise of a lifetime. Because, Eric, the man she thought she was talking with, has no idea who she is. And the man that she's actually been spilling her guts to is his brother, Joe.

What begins as a trade of snark and sarcasm, soon turns into an unlikely friendship, that soon turns into something much more and something neither of them expected.
Joe, the man formerly known as just my friend, was some kind of fucking sex god.

Joe was such a refreshing change of pace. This is not a player or a cocky alphahole. This man exudes stability and dependability. He's sweet, supportive, hard working, and he knows exactly how to break down all of Alex's walls. He does it so unassumingly too, that she never sees it coming.

Kylie Scott created such multilayered characters with these two. I adored Alex and all her quirks. She wasn't perfect and she knew her faults, but she owned them. I loved her friendship with her best friend and the way they had each other's back. I also loved Joe's quiet intensity. He wasn't a man of many words, but the few that he did have were always meaningful and they never failed to affect Alex on every level.
Butterflies didn’t cover it. There were pterodactyls inside my stomach, swooping and screeching and flying around. Not even they, however, could compete with the throbbing ache in my pussy.

Twist is a story that isn't all wit, humor and steam. There's also an serious undercurrent to it that I absolutely adored. It dips into acceptance and strength and perserverence. It really delves deep into embracing our differences and moving past the cruelty of others. It was such an emotional part of the book for me to read and I seriously love that Kylie wove that into the story.

As for the romance? Well you already know that I loved it. I also loved catching up with the rest of the gang. If it's possible, I can dare say that even Eric is starting to grow on me. Which is good, considering his book is next. I can't wait to meet the woman that will bring this manwhore to his knees.

I'm also willing to beg for a book for Nell. Not that the part we got for her wasn't satisfying, but I'd seriously kill for more.

But ultimate, Twist was another winner for me. I loved it just as much as the first book and can't recommend it enough for readers that love their romance with a splash of witty humor.
Once my guard was down, due to complete and utter exhaustion, Joe had cuddled me. It was terrible, disgusting. Fingers caressing me, lips pressing soft kisses to my shoulder and the back of my neck. Normally I’d never allow it, but it felt so good.

Alex finally works up the courage to meet the man she's been chatting with online for months so she heads to his bar to surprise him. Only the surprise ends up being on her when she learns Eric has no idea who she was, and it wasn't him she was talking to but his brother Joe.

It all started innocent. Joe wanted to try and get his brother interested in his online dating profile again so he took over chatting with Alex. Then he just never stopped since he enjoyed their chats. Now that she's there in person he needs to get her to accept his apology and hopes they can remain friends. Maybe more than friends if Alex has any say in it though.

I'm so happy I got to read Twist because I loved these characters. Joe was such a sweetheart and I loved how he was with Alex, taking care of her and being protective of her. He had a lot of troubles in his life and he didn't think he was worthy of Alex, but he also didn't want to let her go. It was interesting to see that war inside himself and I really enjoyed watching to see what he would do in the end.

Alex wasn't a people person and she was more at peace being alone in her home. I admired that she was able to put her nerves behind her to go meet this man that she was so interested in and then stay even after she learned the truth. She and Joe had a great chemistry and their sexual tension was practically jumping off the pages.

Bottom line, I was really happy with Alex and Joe's story and I think many others will be too. This book is a definite recommend from me and it can be read as a standalone but I would still recommend reading Dirty first.

Gah!! This book started out so great! The heroine gets catfished by this guy, Joe, and ends up flying out to surprise some other guy for his birthday. Since it was Joe's brother that he used to hook our girl, Joe is there to witness this.
I liked how she reacted:
Aw, was the poor asshole embarrassed? My heart bled for him.

I thought that this girl, Alex, would be my book bestie. She was sarcastic, funny, and even used phrases like "kill me now" which is my thing!

But then... she blows it. I'm sorry buy I can't stay friends with a girl who has zero self-respect and is willing to give up anything and everything for a guy who treats her like crap. And, that is what happens here. You know how every book couple has to have their big break-up and get back together thing? Well, he dumps her and she refuses to leave. She just hangs around like a love-sick puppy and lets him keep telling her that he's not into her, has another girl living with him, and yet still lets her give him oral sex. That was real generous of him. Throwing her a bone, so to speak.

I'm not into inspirational quotes, but this one really really fits this book.

And then, when she finally does leave - after he tells her to leave about twenty thousand times? He gets pissed off at her for leaving without saying goodbye. Really, dude? You're upset because she was rude to you? Because it wasn't rude at all for you to have your ex-girlfriend show up that morning and talk about how she gave you a full-body massage the night before on your bed right in front of the girl that you just dumped. It wasn't rude for you to catfish her in the first place. It wasn't rude for you to dump her immediately after a sexual encounter. It wasn't rude for you to ignore her for two days after she is injured in a car accident while you were driving.
Let's just say, in the battle of who is the rudest, Joe wins!

There is a bright, shining moment when Mal from Stage Dive shows up in the book. But, it isn't worth the uncomfortably pathetic way that Alex acts.

I will still read the next book because I enjoy the writing style and humor of this author. But, I truly hope she will not write another loser-female-lead like this one again.

4 When Do We Really Know Anyone Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free
Kylie Scott has a knack.... a way of telling stories that will hook you right from the start...and hold your interest till the very last page. She has created characters who work their way into your mind while you are living your day-to-day life... and this book is no different.

This is the second entry to the Dive Bar series. It is a series where there are more Real People populating it than the Rich and Famous. There is a gritty feel to it... where if you are lucky... you would know where there was a bar just like Dive and go to it often.

Like all Scott books, there is a cast of characters who are unique yet understandable. This is a tale of two people who are more alike than they realize. Both have pain and hide from relationships. Both feel their reasons are sound.... and both are in a life rut.

We have the older brother Joe Collins... a man who is big, brawny, solid, and kind. His younger brother, Eric, is the "Ladies Man" and set up a profile on a dating site. But like most things that his brother does... he has lost interest before he even got started on it. Joe goes to cancel out the profile and sees an intriguing email from a pretty little thing...

He reads it... becomes interested enough to respond and before he realizes what happened and what exactly he has done... He has an email relationship with a woman named Alex Parks. Now Joe knows he should tell her he is not the Handsome, Picture Perfect man whose photo stares back at her...and he will...

But damn the two of them start writing to each other and each time he learns more about this woman. It becomes the highlight of his long workday. They talk about all things... how he feels the pressure of some of the drama surrounding his friends at the bar...He shares little things that happen and how he has started rehabbing a part of the building the bar is in... how it feels right doing it...and he also tells Alex he is there for her too... to tell him whatever she wants...

And Alex does...She is a woman who has created a very strong business all on her own doing graphic design. She works from home so her circle of friends is tight and there are days she is home working nonstop. She hasn't had relationships because the idea of committing to someone leaves you open for hurt. One-night stands can work...because it is done and then back to her existence.

Alex does have a tried and true friend who is her sounding board/support and all-around fantastic person....and when Alex kept going on and on about this man she had been emailing and then dreaming about, etc....she pushed Alex to take a risk.... to fly out to the city he lived in on his birthday to surprise him. Alex decides to throw caution to the wind...flies out, goes straight to the bar dolled up in the dress her friend told her would say everything she was afraid to...and even wore the eff me pump as well.

We are there when Alex makes her way into the bar, looks at the man who has been in the photo, calls out to Eric Happy Birthday, I'm Here and all hell breaks out. Eric acts like the player he is...questioning Alex about whether they had a hook-up from the past....and she is stunned...

Everyone doesn't know what to do...and then Joe comes out from the back and sees Alex.

Oh, Hell...Joe reaches out to Alex and starts to explain... But Alex is having none of it. She is embarrassed, hurt, and red-hot angry...Really angry... the type that makes you do stupid things...like leave the bar and start walking in a city that she has no idea where she is going and in the freezing wet cold.

Joe chases her down... is continuously apologizing but also letting her know she cannot keep walking like she is...He takes her to a hotel in his Bronco, gets a room for her... apologizes some more, and then says goodnight.

Alex has every right to be pissed... and feels betrayed. When she wakes, she has a sore throat, feels crappy, and is looking for a place to get cold medicine...This way she will just drug herself up and fly home. What she didn't expect to see was Joe asleep in his Bronco parked in front of the hotel. She couldn't resist taping on the glass. Joe immediately jumps wakes and starts asking her if they could just talk...have coffee or breakfast or something...Alex gives in because she is exhausted.

What happens next is this story of two people who must mend fences in order to really see who each other is...And there is much to see.

Alex is an amazing character...she has a career- she is smart and capable. She self doubts and has serious trust issues...The fact Joe wasn't truthful from the start hurts and it's really hard for her to let it go. But...she does see Joe as this man who stirs her up...and she is a little annoyed she is becoming attracted to him.

No, he is not a pretty boy like Eric, the one she thought she was interested in...Nope, the more she sees of Eric...the less she is attracted to him. Joe is the one who is ringing her bell and it is because of who he is...and the foundation of emails the both of them had...

Now, this wouldn't be a Kylie Scott story without some hot sexy times and also some drama...The sexy times were right on the money... The drama between Joe and Alex... was not my cuppa...There were some serious complications happening but they did work out and all ended fine...

The secondary characters and their stories worked... they gave depth and we got to see old friends from other series...MAL <3333 briefly.

I happen to think this series works and there is more to discover. I will be sitting at the end of the bar...waiting for the next installment. Eric better get his Sh*t together...

Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books

Kylie Scott, where have you been all my life?

Going out of her comfort zone and visiting her online-crush on his birthday wasn't probably a smart move but Eric hasn't responded to any of Alex' mails in a week. Turns out, the guy Alex thought she had been talking to for half a year doesn't know her. It was his brother, the ruggedly handsome, bearded, long-haired and so-not-her-type Joe. She is furious and determined to fly back home on the next day. A vicious case of the flu, however, thwarts her plans. And that liar Joe? He is annoyingly tenacious and wants to take care of her.

Joe is a sweetheart from bottom to top. He is hard working, serious, reliable and the rock everyone leans on when things go downhill. He takes care of people, is a gentleman, despite his rugged looks, and feels deeply. Joe's quiet demeanor is in contrast to Alex' quirkiness, yet he has that sense of humor that blindsides you. He is the whole package and I adored him from the start.

Alex is one of those heroines I always admire because I want to be like them. She knows her flaws and is totally unapologetic about them. She is a commitment-phobe, she has never been in a serious relationship. She'd rather have hook-ups, intimacy scares the living daylights out of her.

Once my guard was down, due to complete and utter exhaustion, Joe had cuddled me. It was terrible, disgusting. Fingers caressing me, lips pressing soft kisses to my shoulder and the back of my neck. Normally I'd never allow it, but it felt so good.

But, Alex is also smart, loyal and has a no-nonsense attitude. Her snarky comebacks were the highlight of this story.

I absolutely LOVED their friendship. They have each other's back, stand up for one another and have this easygoing connection that doesn't need words to fill the silence. They enable each other to be who they really are without feeling bad about it. Their banter is funny AF and I love that Joe calls Alex Little Miss Fucking Sunshine but when he is with his parents all of a sudden she is Little Miss Sunshine.

"I don't see anyone having your back, and to me that is unacceptable."

When they start being sexually attracted to each other it's the logical consequence of their friendship. They are a combustible mixture and once they give in they will leave you short of breath.

"Basically," he said, voice little more than a rumble, "with your permission, I just want to hold you down and make love to you for a good long time, watching your face as you come."

The part I adored most about this book was that both main characters looked past each other's looks and actually fell for the person behind them. It felt natural when they transitioned from friends to lovers because their personalities were like lock and key.
The secondary cast was also a highlight - they made me curious about their stories and I'm lusting for their books. Eric is next and I am so curious how this author will turn this a little bit shallow, self-absorbed man-ho into someone I can love.

I am new to this author's writing but I think the first page already made her an auto-buy. Her snarky and hilarious writing style put a perma-grin on my face. I am already addicted and want MORE! If you love a humorous story with depth go get this book. I hope you'll love it as much as I did.

When it came to Joe Colins, my pussy was a wanton whore. And seriously, who could blame it. His body was one big beautiful playground.

“Lumbersexuals were clearly the worst.”

You ever just read the right book at the right time? Twist was that book for me. I find Kylie’s books so easy to slide into, like a vacation for the brain.

Alex has been chatting online with Eric Collins for a long time, and decides to show up as a surprise at his birthday party at the bar where he works. Except Eric has no idea who Alex was because she wasn’t talking to Eric online, she was talking to his brother Joe.

Joe was supposed to delete Eric’s online dating profile for him, but when he started talking to Alex, he found he couldn’t stop. Despite the long distance, the two have a connection. Except now she knows he’s Joe and not Eric. And Alex is pissed she was lied to. Can Joe and Alex get through the lies of their past? Or will present circumstances keep them apart?

“There are small innocent babies here somewhere. Let’s keep butt sex out of this, please.”

There isn’t a Kylie Scott book out there I haven’t liked or enjoyed. The first book in this series Dirty isn’t my favorite by her, but it set up the series for more. And I really, really loved reading Twist. I feel like with this book the series has gotten its footing and is building a great foundation for more.

Joe and Alex were both such complicated individuals. I loved that Alex had relationship issues, she didn’t know how or whether or not she wanted something serious, despite being lonely. Joe had great patience and was a wonderful match for Alex, even if he wasn’t necessarily the man she pictured herself with. But Joe took care of Alex, respected her feelings for the most part. But he wasn’t perfect, I had one issue with him but it’s slightly spoilerish, but there was something from his past that kind of got on my nerves. I could have done without that addition to the plot, it felt unnecessary.

Twist was a pleasure to read, realistic and emotional but at the same time bound to make you chuckle or laugh while reading it.

“As nice as a pretty face was, though, the personality, the person beneath the skin, should matter more.”

When his brother loses interest in online dating, hot bearded bartender Joe Collins only intends to log into his account and shut it down. Until he reads about her...

True to Kylie Scott's signature style, this was a FUN, SEXY, LIGHT-HEARTED romance rounded out by just the right amount of angst and feels! There was some seriously hilarious banter, a bit of a love-hate romance, and even some surprises that I didn't see coming! The hero and heroine were complete opposites in every way. They'd met by chance online but had never seen each other in person but there was a catch — she thought he was his brother and he never bothered to correct her so when they finally met, she was shocked and understandably pissed. But when he proved himself to actually be the good guy he knew she couldn't see, she found herself unexpectedly falling for him...

So let me explain things better here. Joe's brother had an account on a dating site, but when his computer illiterate brother wanted to shut it down, the task fell to him. He didn't mean to check the messages and find hers, but he did. And he messaged back. And over time, they became close pen pals -- sharing much of their personal lives with each other despite having never met.

From her point of view though, she'd just spent the last several months building an online relationship with a guy who looked (based on his profile pic) and sounded (from his emails) like her dream man, but when she decided to fly across the country to surprise him with a real visit, she was horrified to find that HE was a lie. The man she thought she'd been talking to wouldn't have been able to find the on-switch of a computer with a flashlight, and the man she'd been really talking to was his completely not-her-type-yet-utterly-gorgeous-and-built-like-Thor brother.

“I wondered how long it would take for this whole little adventure to turn into some funny story I told people. Except no part of me was amused. Not even a single cell. My Eric, the beautiful man from the Internet, didn’t exist. Not really. Because the guy who’d charmed me with long, rambling emails about life and everything was a liar. And everyone knew, you couldn’t trust a liar.”

Utterly embarrassed and devastated by the meeting, she high-tailed it out of the bar as fast as she could, walking through the rain to get to the nearest hotel so she could book the first flight back to the safety of her home. But Joe wasn't about to let her go. Despite his undeniable mistake, he hadn't been faking their actual conversations and he knew they had a connection and he was determined to at least show her how sorry he was.

“C’mon, I’m here. I want to help. Give me a chance to show you I’m not a total asshole.”

She was having absolutely none of it until the consequences of her poorly times walk in the rain caught up with her and she came down with a nasty flu -- giving Joe the chance to show his true colors. Which he did -- staying by her side the whole time and helping her in any way he could. And as he cared for her through her flu, she began to consider that he might not actually be the asshole she'd pegged him as.

But of course, her best friend didn't hesitate to fiercely and hilariously defend her regardless of Joe's actions...

“Shit,” he mumbled, putting [the phone] to his ear. “Hello?”
… “Yeah, I’m Joe Collins. Alex is sleeping, she’s been sick. She caught the flu.” He waited. “Ah, well…” Again, he listened. In fact, he listened for quite a while. “You’re… I… Okay, yes, I’m a raging asshole. I should never have done that to her, you’re right. But…” He paused. Then he took an almighty big breath, letting it out real slow. “Yes. You’re right, there’s no excuse for such a willful act of bastardly and I definitely deserve to be castrated and burn in hell for all eternity. Um. Who did you say you were again?” The man massaged his temple, making the muscles in his upper back move. Nice. “Valerie, Alex’s best friend. Right. Nice to meet you. Alex spoke about you a lot, when we were emailing.” Joe winced, removing the phone from his ear for a moment as a particularly loud noise issued through the cell. “Yes, I can see how that would just remind you what a jerk I am, of course.” He nodded. “No. Okay. I will never win you over with charm because I’m slime. Got it.” The man hung his head. “Yes, I’m listening. She is a goddess despite her cold, hard heart and I’m a lowly animal. Totally agree.” He started rubbing the back of his neck. “Okay. I’ll get her to call you when she’s up. Great to talk to you, Valerie. Yep… okay, got to go. There’s a whole line of people here who also need to abuse me. Bye.”
Visibly sagging, the man commenced muttering obscenities.

LOL!!! Just wait til you read that whole scene -- it's gold!

And from this point on, she decided to give him a chance. Their story was filled with hilarious banter and steamy hotness as they began to get to know each other in real life...

“What if it all goes wrong?”
“Then you go back to your old life in Seattle and forget about me.”
“I highly doubt that will work.”
… “Do you want me to leave?” he asked.
“No.”

For such a light-hearted book, I was quite pleased that things got surprisingly heavy and emotional towards the ending with a shocking event that blindsided them all. I have to say that I definitely felt that this more serious turn of events really rounded out the story and provided a great balance to the comedic side. I loved the weight that it gave their story and really enjoyed seeing them work through their hardships to find their way back to each other.

All in all, this was a fantastically light-hearted and sexy love story about two people who couldn't have been more opposite, who met by complete accident, and yet unexpectedly found that they were perfect for each other. If you're looking for a great romantic comedy (with feels!!) then definitely be sure to order a copy of this book!!

Rating: 4-4.5 stars. Contemporary Adult Romance. Can standalone.

Ms. Scott, what have you done???

I am a fan of Kylie Scott and I loved her Stage Dive series, especially PLAY, with the awesome hero Mal 😊

I read the first book in Dive Bar series (Dirty) a long while ago and gave it 4 stars, enjoying it quite a deal.

Now, I am sorry but I need to say it, this second book in the series, Twist, is one of the worst romance books ever, with borderline dislikable characters and a torturing plot line. It is just horrible! Even the appearance of Mal cannot save the book at all!

The heroine is the epitome of a “doormat heroine”. You can erect her statue in every town, with one of her acts or quotes from this book, and she will set the best example of a doormat heroine.

The hero is the biggest douch-bag ever, as well. He is an as*hole, who expects an apology when he is the one who needs to grovel. Such a hopeless case!

***********************************************

I have read the book properly till %50 but then, it went even more downhill than the beginning so I just skimmed and scanned the rest to see how the writer cleans up that mess of epic proportions and I was utterly disappointed to find how much she failed to do so.

This whole book feels like written by someone who wants to taint Ms. Scott’s name & fame. It is really that awful!

***********************************************

Shortly, this is what the book is about:

Eric & Alex met on an online platform and they wrote e-mails to each other for some months and then, Eric goes MIA and this stupid woman decides to go to the city where he lives and surprise him! What is a worse idea than going after someone who cuts his contact with you? Isn’t it borderline stalking?

Whatever, when she goes there, she finds out that she has been lied to for months because she hasn’t been corresponding with Eric but his brother Joe. She learns it in the worst way – after throwing herself at Eric’s arms. (The profile picture was Eric’s so she knew who Eric was when she went to Dive Bar). All his friends were there when she made a fool of herself. Finally, Joe steps in and confesses what he has done.

She decides to go, being pissed at Joe but then, she becomes ill and has to stay there. He looks after her. She forgives him, and quickly, they become friends and then, their weird sex life begins although THERE IS NO CHEMISTRY between them. Because Alex is afraid of emotions and relationships, she wants rough sex and warns him not to do it again when he makes love to her looking at her eyes! They go at it with zero chemistry. It feels like both of them are just scratching an itch.

***********************************************

Then, I lost my interest in the book and started to skip pages but unfortunately, I saw that after an accident that causes Joe’s guilt, he can even be a bigger as*hole than his real self. First, he wants Alex to go because he cannot deal with her while he is struggling with his own problems. However, stupid Alex decides to stay and help.

Then, Joe’s ex comes and she starts to make passes at him. She stays at his house. She gives him massages and tries to kiss him. She says she wants him back. Joe doesn’t even tell her Alex and he became something more than friends. He just ignores Alex’s feelings and lets his ex parade in front of her. He says to Alex there is nothing between his ex and him but what happens is not "nothing".

***********************************************

Then, one day, Alex comes to her senses and decides to leave Joe alone. The douche-bag is so pissed that he never calls her or goes after her. He never even answers her e-mails. In her e-mails, she says she is sorry that she left without a goodbye but she did so because it was hard for her to say goodbye to him. The douche-bag still doesn't reply. She asks how he is doing etc., trying to go back to the days when they corresponded by e-mail. HE NEVER REPLIES. !!!

***********************************************

The ending:

A few months later, when Alex is invited to a wedding by Joe’s friends, she goes there and even Joe’s female friends tell Alex she did wrong and she needs to grovel and do some as*-licking! WTF?! And Alex, already being a doormat and a fool, says she will do that.

When Joe comes to the wedding & sees her, he is so very angry and he really expects an apology! Oh my! I wanted to kill him with my bare hands!

A man who loves a woman doesn’t act the way he did with his ex in front of his new girlfriend. And a real man - a good man - goes after the woman he loves when she leaves without saying goodbye because he thinks he might have done something wrong to make her decide to leave. Joe CANNOT /SHOULDN'T be a hero in any romance book because he is just the worst!

And Alex – oh, I am so ashamed of thinking that a woman like her may exist somewhere in the world, someone who embarrasses herself so many times, someone who lets a man degrade her so many times – ugh, if written about, she might as well exist somewhere, right? Oh, even the possibility of it hurts me!

Writing:

* First person point of view: Told only by Alex, the heroine. If we had Joe's point of view, maybe he could have given some explanations to all his disgusting acts.

* Doesn't make you feel at all. I didn't feel their connection or chemistry (maybe because there was none)

Recommendation:

Well, as you might imagine, this book has given me such a big headache and I definitely don't recommend it.

~4.5 Twisted Stars~
description

Twist is the second book in the Dive Bar Series. Although it can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading it after Dirty to fully grasp the depth of the relationships between the characters in this series.
description
"Lumbersexuals were clearly the worst."
Alex Parks is a successful woman looking for love. When she sparks a connection with someone on an online dating site, she takes the plunge, and an online relationship begins. Imagine her surprise when she goes to meet her online love in person and discovers it was all a lie.

description
"There was no going slow. We were a car crash, a catastrophe. His tongue in my mouth and my hands pushing at his coat, tearing at his T-shirt."
Joe Collins didn't mean any harm by taking over his brother Eric's online dating profile. When Alex shows up at the bar to meet Eric, everything explodes in his face. Joe is attracted to Alex, and although he was deceptive at the start of their relationship, he wants nothing more than for Alex to give him a chance. Alex is easily spooked, and it takes a while for her to trust Joe. Joe and Alex are quite a mismatched pair when this "lumberjack" falls in love with sophisticated Alex. As Alex and Joe form a friendship, the physical attraction between the two explodes, and they can't keep their hands off of each other. Just when it seems that things are headed in the right direction, tragedy strikes and Joe and Alex are torn apart. It will take everything they have to find their way back together again.

description
"I just want to hold you down and make love to you for a good long time, watching your face as you come."
Twist had all of the elements that I love from a Kylie Scott read. Complex characters, smoking hot scenes, emotional depth, and a rock solid plot. The only distraction in Twist for me occurred towards the end of the read. Joe made some surprising choices that made me feel sad for Alex. Although, I felt she handled herself the best that she could it took away from my overall happy feelings for the book. Obviously, characters are flawed, and book are often a reflection of life, however, in this case, I wish Joe had been a little stronger for Alex. Although he redeems himself in the end, this element of the drama wasn't my favorite part of the read. A happy addition to the read was the supporting characters and the development of Nell and Pat and of course ERIC!!!!! I am truly hooked on this series, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!

description

Overall, Twist is another winning creation by Kylie Scott. With hilarious text and a smoking hot romance, Alex and Joe are sure to offer you hours of entertainment.

Ms. Scott has a knack for creating fun opening scenes. I always look forward to seeing what she’ll come up with and this story didn’t disappoint.

”Our relationship had so far sat entirely at the platonic level of cyber-messaging.”

Alex and Joe met through an online dating site and started corresponding through emails for about six months. Alex took a chance a flew out to surprise her email-pal for his birthday. Now, on a side note -over 20 years ago I did something somewhat similar - except I didn’t go without my person being aware I was flying across the country. SURPRISE! Alex not only surprised everyone she got a surprise herself. The opening scene had some laugh out loud moments.

”Joe is smart, funny, loyal, sweet, hardworking, kind, caring, and generally amazing in all the ways.”

Joe embodied the elements of a strong male character who was also a gentleman. At one point in the story, there was an incident that happened which made Joe question if he even deserved to be loved or not. The tension between the characters during that time was palpable. The frustration from both of them was like an Eeyore cloud over their relationship. Luckily, with romances, readers know the warm and fuzzy feelings will return.

“Nell was going through a messy divorce from another friend of ours, Pat. Her and my brother were a drunken accident.”

I really liked seeing the Nell, Pat and Eric’s situation play out in this book. Their story starts in DIRTY and even if you didn’t read book one you can read this one without being lost. Their situation gets explained in TWIST to catch everyone up.

I love that Ms. Scott always offers originality in her stories. The meet-cutes in her books are some of my favorite parts because they set up the story for an entertaining ride.

TWIST is set in Coeur D'alene, Idaho. It’s set in the same universe as Dive. The next book in the Dive Bar series is scheduled to be released at the beginning of November.

3.5 Despite My Better Judgement Stars ⭐

Geez this took me ages to finish and I don't get why. Twist had everything I've grown to expect and love by this author but I guess I just didn't love our heroine as much as I wanted to. I don't deal well with people who hold grudges and can't see the good right in front of them. It's frustrating.

I’d crushed on him hard.
Then I’d hated him with the fire of a thousand suns.
Now I liked him and his body far more than I should.

On the flip side, Joe Collins stole my heart even with his initial white lies. Alex and Joe (well technically his brother Eric) have been chatting online for months. From different states, Alex braves it and surprises Eric with a visit. What she finds is Joe masquerading as Eric. And the shit hits the fan.

Let me assure you that there was plenty of groveling to make up for this indiscretion, however Alex couldn't let it go. Even when she realizes how awesome Joe is, and that they've both fallen for each other, it was a sticking point. Combine that with Alex's commitment issues, this got tired quickly.

Twist still had the signature humor and banter expected by this author. Combined with Joe's moves in the bedroom and the awesome ensemble cast of characters that make up the Dive Bar where this series is set; it didn't change what a Debbie Downer our Alex was. Meh, get a grip!

Apart from embarrassing scene at the beginning the book was ok.
But the last 20% ruined my illusion of an independent/strong heroine.

The story should have ended with 2nd chapter when she decided to go back home.

The hero was a bit meh. I didn't get till the end why he lied to her and pretended to be his brother as they chatted online.

Totally unnecessary OW drama with his ex.

Totally unnecessary drama with the accident and

And one of the most bizarre scenes I read lately: the h finally realized that she loved him after she gave him a bj and swallowed his cum. Huh? 😲

Girl, if you wanna suck on something and fell in love, buy yourself a lollipop! 🙅

I feel like I need to provide an instant disclaimer before I even start. I’m not sure there is any way Twist could have earned less than 4 Stars from me simply due to the fact that the meet/cute was driven by . . . . . .

Catfish is my kryptonite. It’s the ultimate timesuck and tiny baby Jeebus please help me if a marathon comes on because I’ll have a bedsore or die of dehydration before I ever even think about removing my fat ass from the sofa. That being said, this was my FIFTH Kylie Scott book, so obviously I kinda have feels for the lady.

Anywho, story here is about Alex and Joe Eric (normal names in a porny story???? what is this fuckery?!?!?!?!) who met on some non-Tinderish dating site (I know what you’re thinking “what’s the point in that?” Samesies.). After talking for months, Alex decides to show up at Eric’s birthday party as a surprise gift he can unwrap in the nearest bedroom, only to discover that although Eric is just as pretty as his online picture, he’s kind of a superdouche . . . and he also doesn’t recognize Alex at all. Enter Joe. He used his brother’s pic instead of his own on said dating site. Whoops. So things go horribly wrong, Alex is embarrassed, Joe wants to apologize, yada yada yada, Alex comes down with a terrible flu or some shit and other stuff and things happen that makes her decide to have a do-over with Joe – strictly as friends. You know what that means, right????

Exactly.

This one was just what the doctor ordered for me to escape real life and all its bullshit for a minute. 4 Stars not only for the obvious . . . . .

But also because Joe was described as kind of a big blonde grizzly bear and . . . . .

And not only was Alex a brunette and not a redhead, but she also didn’t whine about body issues or have some kind of rapey past that could only be cured by a magic penis . . . .

Alexandra Parks is a 29 yr. old graphic designer from Seattle. She's sort of been a hermit for years. She never puts herself out there or takes chances romantically. She avoids intimacy & prefers her life uncomplicated. She doesn't do relationships, but she's been talking to a gorgeous man on the internet named Eric Collins. She's crushing on him hard & they seem to share a strong connection. They've been talking for months through emails. Even though Alex is somewhat terrified of the outside world, she decides to step out of her comfort zone to meet him. Eric is beginning to mean something to her, and she just has to see him in person. She decides to be spontaneous, & buys a ticket to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She plans to show up at his birthday party and surprise him. When Alex shows up to meet the hot guy she's been emailing, she soon learns he has no clue who she is.

Joe Collins set up an account for his younger brother Eric on a dating site. When his brother loses interest & decides he doesn't want the account anymore Joe tells him he will shut it down for him. Then he spots Alex Parks, & they begin talking. She's funny & beautiful, and he immediately gets sucked in. He looks forward to talking to her, & it's often the highlight of his day. When Alex shows up in the Dive Bar where he bartends, the jig is up, & his big secret is revealed.

 photo F3E10843-AFD9-4F02-9505-90E4BFAE9B34_zpsdcbdh46t.jpg

Joe wants Alex to stay in Idaho for a few days & figure out what's between them. They shared chemistry online, & he just wants the chance to get to know her in person, even if it's just as friends. He liked talking to her & has grown to care about her.

Alex is shocked that the man she thought she was talking to is someone else. Instead of Eric, it's a huge, blond, Bigfoot lumber sexual with a beard and tattoos. He's totally not her type, even though her libido hasn't got the memo yet. Clearly the guy is hot, with his big muscles & long golden mane, but she's more into pretty boys wearing a suit & tie.

 photo B23072B8-80AA-4759-B91F-F69E8B7DA07E_zpslghdj4ds.jpg

Joe convinces her to stay a few days & spend some time together since she's already there. She's extremely attracted to his body, & his kindness also gets to her. He's so sweet & eventually her walls all crumble, and they give in to their lust for one another.

Alex's plans of not wanting to get involved with anyone go right out the window as she falls for Joe. Being with him is so easy & they just click, until circumstances have Joe pulling away. Just as Alex begins opening herself up to the possibility of more, things get complicated between them. Then there's the fact they live in different states. Will love conquer all?

I loved this book & adore this series! Joe Collins is a sinfully sexy bearded hottie with a heart of gold. This man is so gentle & swoon worthy. I fell hard for him from the start. Can't wait for Eric's book up next!

-This man was so beautiful.

-The man affected me in all the ways.

-He had a rather spectacular body.

-In bed, there was an edge to Joe that worked for me like crazy.

-The man had me mesmerized. I couldn't have looked away from him if I'd tried.

-Joe Collins had my heart whether he wanted it or not.

ARC received for review

Great second book with lots of drama, angst, sex and friends & family. It didn't start the way I thought it would, and I was confused for a couple minutes. Joe and Alex were great working out their issues with lots of help from the Dive Bar crew. Plus snarky Mal from Stage Dive makes an appearance along with some band members.

Here's hoping the next book is Nell (bless her heart in this book) getting back with Patrick and not brother Eric's HEA.

Almost to the end it was a five stars reading but then Joe, eh Joe... Yeah there is some angst, so you don’t get bored. Still funny, amazing heroine, and after all great reading.

About the plot: Alex Parks met a dream guy on the dating site. They talked a lot, so when he go silent, she decided to surprise him for his birthday and visit Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. What a surprise when it turned out that she did not talk to who she thought she was. Behind all the emails, wasn't a well-kept Eric, but his lumberjack version, his brother Joe Collins.

“With all the body-shaping underwear, lip gloss, heels, and tiny dress, you could almost say I’d been fibbing about who I was. His lie, however , left my Spanx and push-up bra way behind.”

Despite the disappointment, she was forced to stay in the town for some time and get to know Joe. Their friendship proved to be just as good as by the Internet. Or even better because more satisfying. But what next, when such a long distance divide their lives.

Final thoughts: To some extent, it's the friends to lovers story. They met through the internet and now they are trying to understand how strong their feelings are. Because of what it is happening here it's a very funny story but also with great twist.

“No more hiding or denying, sticking to the sidelines of life. It was my time to step forward and be brave. When it came to Joe Collins, I was more than ready to say yes.”

From the first sentence I have a heroine crush. Alex Parks. I love her humor and personality. She has some issues, who has not? But she is amazing and I laughed out loud thanks to her inner monologues and words.

“Who needs that much hair? On your head, your face, the bits on your chest … it’s all too much.”
His brows drew tight. “That so?”
“Why, I bet there’s a jungle down there. Tell me, Joe, have you had any complaints? Is the tiger getting lost?”

You can also count on some hot scenes and dirty mouth. Crazy chemistry and some sexual encounters nicely turn up the temperature. Their relationship develops in a quick but effective way and it's all almost perfect, until it's not.

“When it came to Joe Collins, my pussy was a wanton whore. And seriously, who could blame it? His body was one big beautiful playground. There wasn’t an inch of him I didn’t want to explore.”

The author decided to not go with dual pov, so there are some lacking of Joe thoughts, but... I do not understand what was going on at the end. I was disappointed with his behavior and dropping the blame on her. Seriously? If anything, it was their both fault. But still I think that he could do more.

If you want to see what this is all about and form your own opinion you have to read it. Despite some dissatisfaction I really like this story. It's definitely worth reading, because it's funny, hot and entertaining series with amazing group of friends. I like such series the most and will certainly continue. You can also safely read it as standalone.

3.5 Oww, so sweet!

This is the kind of book you read when you need something happy. It's that story that will put a smile on your face no matter what mood you're in. It's like a great chocolate cake after a hard day at work.

The bad part is that it's pretty forgettable, the other one was a bit better. It's pretty typical as far as the plot goes, the writing style is what makes it special. In probably a few weeks/months, I'll have no idea what happened in this book, but I'll remember I really liked it.

When Joe Collins answered an email from a certain woman named Alex Parks using his brother's dating profile, he never thought anything would come of it. And yet many months later, they're still communicating and unbeknownst to him, she's coming to Idaho to meet him in person. There's one huge problem though. Alex thought she was talking to Eric, Joe's brother who owned the profile. So imagine her surprise when she goes to Dive Bar and sees the guy she's been pouring her heart out to, only to find out he doesn't know her.

There's something about Kylie Scott's heroines that really appeal to me, and Alex is no exception. She's beautiful, funny, exasperating but also totally real and adorable. Her character just comes to life in these pages and I just enjoyed reading her thoughts no matter how crazy and sometimes exasperating it is.

But there's more to like about Twist aside from Alex. I mean, hello? Joe Collins is H-O-T and good with his hands. Despite the initial douchecanoe move of letting Alex go on believing he's someone else and totally flaking out on meeting her many times, he got his act together rather quickly.

Despite Joe's obvious enthusiasm for Alex's company, their road to HEA hit some major bumps along the way. And I just loved it. I loved the drama, the unpredictability. I didn't even mind it too much when these characters just became oblivious to logic because their feelings were involved. And there were a lot of FEELINGS...from Joe's guilt to Alex's jealousy to mine. Yes, mine. I wanted to step into the book and hit them both upside in the head. I felt like doing that sometimes. But ugh, I love their characters that it felt natural for me to root for them even though they annoyed me at one point because it was all worth it in the end.

My only teeny-tiny complaint is that Although I understood where he's coming from but still...

Anyway, that's just a very minor blip to an another enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to more Dive Bar shenanigans in the future especially with Eric. Also, can we have a Pat and Nell novella? I really want to know more about them. We only get to see their story through other characters' eyes. I want them to tell it themselves.

Ever since reading the first book in the "Stage Dive" series, I have been a huge fan of Kylie Scott. I loved all books in that series and so when the "Dive Bar" series came out, I jumped right into that one too. I really liked the first book in this series, so when I received an ARC for book 2, it made my day :)

I have to say that I liked this book at bit more than book 1. Reason being... the heroine. She was extremely funny and sarcastic...and I just love me some good sarcasm...

This book is about Joe and Alex....and no, Alex is not a guy......sorry guys :P

Joe is a sexy lumbersexual, working as a bartender at "Dive Bar". He also helps his father in his carpentry bussiness. Joe has a beard....Bearded men usually don't do it for me......at all. However, the reference to "Thor" kind of got to me, so I figured I could work with it ;)

Joe has been snooping in his brother Erik's online dating-account and it was there, that he met the lovely Alex.

Alex is a graphic designer, who works mostly from home. She doesn't have many friends, just one really, because she is a bit socially awkward. She doesn't do relationships either. One night stands are really all that she is after, but after emailing back and forth with her new online buddy, she starts reconsidering. Finally she picks up the courage, to go meet the man face to face.

These two don't really start of on the right foot. It did make for some hilarious scenes though. I loved snarky Alex !!

"Lumbersexuals were clearly the worst. Truth was, I'd never been especially into beards.  At best, I'd been indifferent. Now, however, I outright despised them. Horrible hairy frames for lying lips and duplicitious tongues, that's what they were. Loathsome whiskery bastards. Burn them all in a fire".

This girl was funny as hell !!

I also really liked Joe. He was very sweet, charming and sexy, though at the end, he pissed me off something fierce !!

Still...these two made an awesome couple. They were funny together, their banter was great and the steam was HOT !!

I am very curious to see who is gonna be next in this series. I myself hope it's Erik's turn to fall flat on his face. That guy needs a good kick in the nuts by the right girl !!

Even though I really liked this book and I laughed my ass off...Mal and Jimmy from "Stage Dive" will always be my favorits.....though you never know.

I want a lil of Joe.

I was dying for more of this series after reading Dirty. It's was a great start to the series and this book was just as good. I luvd how the book started. There was no missing at all I was hooked from the first page. I was delighted to get more of the sexy Joe with all his big hot muscles tattoos long blonde hair and sexy beard God I wanted a piece of him and to top it of he has a great personality. He would do anything for his friends and family they meant so much to him.

Alex is quite different to Joe she doesn't go out much like being on her own. She didn't need people around her. So goin to see someone she as been talking to for a while and wanted to surprise is a huge thing for her and when she turns up and thing are not there meant to be she is gutted. Alex hates lies people have hurt her with them so it's the worst thing u can do so letting Joe back in wasn't goin to be easy. But she ended up needed him more then she wanted to.

This story was really good. I found these to characters really good the way Alex's mind works is crazy. Her calling Joe Blonde big foot and Thor was so funny. She had my laughing in a few parts. I enjoyed seeing these 2 getting it together. Even after fighting feelings and goin out of her comfort zone u could how they suited each other they just fit perfectly. There sexual tension was so hot they needed to get closer in every way. I did like that we got more of the other characters again and I m dying to know more about the rest of the gang. Eric really needs to suit himself out I need to his book hoping he's next. Betting more of Vaughan and Lydia was fun to. I would highly recommend this book I luvd it from start to finish. Loads of drama and the story and characters are brilliant.

★4.5 STARS★

It’s not very often you read a romance which involves a heroine with a phobia of intimacy. In many respects Alex Parks goes against the grain with what to expect from a leading lady. She can count her friends (one of them being a squirrel) on one hand, and she’s in her element locked away at home with no human contact for days on end.

It’s taken a huge amount of bravery on her part to turn up unannounced to her online love interests birthday party, unfortunately for Alex, the surprise is on her.

Joe Collins has some explaining to do. His intention of shutting down his brother’s online dating profile went awry the moment he began chatting with Alex. Before he knew it, he’d come to enjoy and depend on Alex’s friendship. He had intended to come clean; he just never thought he’d have to do it face to face.

Understandably Alex is upset, furious even, but I’d be a damn liar if I said I didn’t eat up every minute of it. Rather than be upset with Joe, I wanted to protect the glorious blond mountain man. He instantly enamoured himself to me with his vulnerability that was so at odds with his towering frame.

As closed off as Alex is, she’s a feisty thing (and don’t tell her I said this, but utterly adorable), much to my enjoyment she has no hesitations in telling Joe what she thinks of him. His pleads for a second chance fall on deaf ears until an act of fate steps in.

Twist once again marks the wonderful return of Kylie and her fantastic characters. Much like her Stage Dive series, it really was a group effort when it comes to my overall enjoyment of the novel. Scott serves up the perfect mix of banter, friendship and romance with a dirty twist that’s sure to leave you with a raging book hangover.
