The Ahmed family is a poor, but humbled family living in a small village in Bangladesh. In a desperate attempt to provide for his family, Nur, the head of the household, makes a deal with the devil himself, Vahin Thakur. This deal changes the course of his family’s life forever. Although the deal was in Vahin’s favor, Nur agrees, but finds himself in debt to Vahin. He’s done the unthinkable and has placed his daughter, Rima, up as collateral.
As a graduating senior, all Rima wanted to do was hang out with her friends, chose a college to attend, and just be a kid. Instead, she has to plan her wedding to a boy she loathes, Jagan Thakur. Shortly after she weds, Rima escapes the Thakur’s household to her freedom. She finds herself on a plane to America because she’s been offered modeling contracts and television appearance opportunities. Rima’s life is looking up until she encounters Kelvin and Donta. She learns valuable life lessons about trusting men who claim to love her.
Donta, a DMV drug kingpin, hires Rima’s brother Rehan and his father Nur to work for him. Soon, the entire Ahmed family finds themselves in America. Seemingly, all is well until Nur is caught in a compromising position with Donta’s mother.
The Ahmed family learns the hard way that America isn’t as beautiful as it appears to be.
Regrets by Lore is a good read. Regrets is my first book reading from this author. Lore did a good job. It's dealing with drama and dramatic. It's well written and page turner.
I decide to give this author chance. I decide to put this book down because it was slow in the beginning but someone told me that I need to keep reading this book. I decide to pick up the book and continue to reading. In the middle and ending of the was excited and amazing. Donta is a example of regrets. My heart goes to Rima and her family.
I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author.
I loved the book overall! I didn't like how it kinda switched over to a more urban story or how it ended but overall pretty good book. First book I've read by this author, I'll read something else again.
I loved the book it was a little different than what I'm used too but it turned out to be good I read it in a couple hours..the family went thru sooo much it was good they were happy in the end!
This was so good although it started off slow once it got going the drama was head on. This was a page turner indeed. If the author wanted to this would make for a great spin-off.
This book wasn't what I expected at first but it ended up being damn good to the pont where I couldn't put my kindle down..... Definitely worth reading
