Quilting By Machine can be used as a learning tool if you are sewing your first quilt, or as a reference if you have had quilting experience. The piecing, applique and quilting techniques that are included in this book are quick, easy machine methods. Various topics covered in this book block and quilt top design ideas, how to create your own block designs, and color selection; how to calculate yardage and select fabrics and batting for the quilt; information on selecting notions and equipment and setting up your work area; quick techniques for cutting and piecing or appliqueing blocks, and for sewing sashing and borders; information on marking, assembling, and basting the quilt; and information on caring for, storing and displaying quilts.
This is a nice and simple beginning machine quilting book. I especially appreciated the clear photos up front of some of the most popular traditional blocks, most that I've seen again and again but never knew what they were called. A basic primer on how to create a quilt from one of these traditional designs with many tips, tricks, and techniques explained along the way.
