The day my life fell apart, I was introduced to this term. It’s comforting to know there’s one word that completely defines my life.
Go ahead. Look it up.
And right next to the term, you might see a picture of me as the example, sweltering in a 40-pound princess gown in front of my castle beside a kiddie coaster …
… and flanked by the sexiest piece of man candy that ever walked this earth: Dylan Sheridan.
The same Dylan Sheridan who’s an Olympic medalist turned MMA fighter turned billionaire entrepreneur.
The same Dylan Sheridan who destroyed my best fantasy the moment I realized he’s just a cock-sure narcissist who thinks I have a single-digit IQ.
And I won’t fall for him. Even when my life spirals out of control and he’s the only one who reaches into the hurricane to pull me out.
Because even though you see his rock-hard body standing by my side … we’re just faking it.
* Faking It is a stand-alone romance with no cliffhangers. It is Book Three in the Homefront: The Sheridans series. *
When Kate Aster was in fifth grade, she wrote her debut novel on a spiral-bound notebook–a science fiction which ended with the tragic destruction of all humanity.
Fortunately, she’s gotten a lot more upbeat.
Now preferring romantic settings and blissfully happy endings, Kate just released her eighth book available on Amazon.
Kate is an avid snorkeler, “beach read” fanatic, and margarita connoisseur. She is so grateful for the support and positive reviews from her readers. Thank you!

Both Cass and Dylan have their own reasons for not being interested in a relationship, but that doesn't stop them from having some fun while they're both staying in Newton's Creek. But when their sexual relationship becomes public fodder, Dylan suggests a fake relationship to protect Cass's reputation. He's used to being in the public eye, to being the irresponsible one in the family and to women using him for their own purpose, so he has no problem with playing a role if it protects Cass.
FAKING IT is told in dual POVs and is the final book in the Homefront: The Sheridans series, where we see the final Sheridan brother fall for the final woman in a trio of best friends. Both Cass and Dylan are very nice people and make a wonderful couple, but Dylan's complaints about being left out of the family business that no-one knew he wanted to be a part of, were as silly as Cass's reason for not believing in marriage because her parents got divorced. FULL DISCLOSURE (book 2) was the best book in this series. FAKING IT wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either, however the epilogue was wonderful and a great way to say goodbye.
I was so moved by this book. For Cass and Dylan to fall so deeply in love do quickly was wonderful to read about. My husband and I fell in love quickly. We knew a few weeks after we started dating we were meant for each other. Now 15 yes later and two kiddos, we still love each other deeply. So this story really spoke to me. To see Dylan come to Cass's rescue on more than one occasion just proves what an amazing guy he is. Bittersweet ending. Definite 5 star read!!!
First of all, Ms Aster, thank you for making all three men come home because of the love of their father and mother! Having lost a mother who had vascular dementia, and I already have had numerous strokes, and pray that my sons are having settled their happily ever after before I cannot seem to understand or enjoy, let alone enjoy it, or something worse become a burden because I no longer remember them. I already lost the love of my life, and I have hope to go quickly and quietly before the vascular dementia or strokes become more than they already have! Yet, I also realize how blessed I am, if missing my better half every minute of every day, because I still have faculties to do. Secondly, Allie's rescue dogs, as well other animals, I have to babies left out of six, all but one were rescues. My princess Panda sleeping on floor right beside me, and Incy (aka Incubus, 4lbs of devil when we got him, now 40 born with genetic issues so extreme refused to name him, he was just demon baby, or devil monster until his surgery which obviously was successful beyond the vet's expectations) is sleeping at the foot of my bed, only because The Princess Panda is one ornery old princess (14) and my familiar, and Incy, bless his (13 yr old heart) learned from day one who ran this home.
All three books in the series made me smile, cry, and cheer! What wonderful every day women you chose for each of the brothers. All six of these wonderful characters came with their own issues that just melded them to their respective loves. There is so much I could say, however most importantly, READ THIS SERIES, for eternal love, beauty, hope, and joy! While we do not all end up with billionaires, I wouldn't trade anything for the love of my life and neither would Alli, Kim, or Cass.
An ABSOLUTELY moving love series with issues all can identify with and enjoy! You Definitely do not wish to miss this series!
I purchase this whole series and I am loving each book more than the last one.
Faking it - yah right!
Cass seems to think Dylan is a loose cannon, riding on the coattails of Logan and Ryan, so he can get a piece of a** from a few dumb models who want to use him - who was Dylan to complain? OUCH!
Cass wasn't about to fall for his abundant charisma, walking away from him. Who was he to attack her career choice and intelligence?
As the story goes on ...
"So, you'd be fine with that? Just breaking it off?"
"I'm going to have to be, aren't I? I mean, we're faking it."
"Why did he buy me a pink diamond? Anything would have been fine." That's Cassidy's favorite color - Dylan remembered.
"Oh my God. Why would he do that?"
"He loves you, you dolt!" (Kim)
"An engagement is a distraction. A pink diamond for a girl just because she loves pink. That's love!"
During the wedding of Ryan and Kim -
Why does it stick for some and not others? When Cass watches Jake and Anna Sheridan standing there, hand and hand, watching Kim approach the man she is about to marry, that's what love is - she knew that now - that complete vulnerability to someone.
Well, find out what happens as the story goes on. It's a beautiful thing.
My next book in this series is: A is for Alpha: Aloha, Sheridans Book 1 (Homefront: The Sheridans 4) with Camden Sheridan - a former Army ranger with the standard issue 8-pack - living on the big island of Hawaii. His life turns upside-down when Annis shows up - the babysitter. WHAT?
I love this series, all 3 brothers and their love interests. However, Dylan and Cass’ story grab me from the beginning. I don’t know if it was because Dylan is the youngest and Cass was always there for her friends and believing in love for them even though she had no intentions on following those examples herself. Their story was amazing, how they pushed each other to follow their dreams and helped each other. Also how they both always felt like outsider looking in and they both wanted to be included and loved. Cass was kind hearted and wanted to make a difference and so was Dylan, they both make an amazing couple. This is a series I recommend.
Dylan's gyms.are doing great. The new gyms are being upgraded to accommodate disabled and injured vets and others. This is a great idea and Dylan will put in motion to upgrade his existing gyms with the same fabulous equipment.
Cass wants to have more meaning in her life. She loves helping the shelter a d saving innocent dogs from death. After Dylan's encouragement to take over the fostering for the shelter Cass feels needed and helpful which is what she has been missing.
Cass & Dylan get into a little trouble but find their way out and in the process find each other and love.
I just finished Kate Aster's wonderful 3 book series, Homefront: The Sheridans. The books address the issues of : love even if your life has been filled with a lot of tough patches, what happens when our troops come home, following your dreams, learning to communicate with your loved ones, and learning there is life after a dementia diagnosis. The dementia storyline meant a lot to me , because I lost my Dad to complications of vascular dementia several years ago. This book addressed the topic honestly and compassionately.
This touch my heart so much . I couldn't put the books down. I read and read thought sleepy night by turning page by pages to see what going to happen. My heart fill with love like my parents had. And I want to have but I love someone who just love me as a sister then a girlfriend. I'm to old to push it. I'm 57 and his is 67 . So I guess we just stay as friends. But your book touch me deeply and emotionally. Thanks I can't wait to pick up another one of your series.
I love this Sheridan Series. If you didn't read books one and two please do. In this book you will be introduced to Cass and Dylan's love story. These books are written to where the characters and their lives are intertwined in each book. I am sad to see this series coming to a close. I feel this book as well as the whole series was written in a way that the characters feel like family. Can't wait to read another of Kate Aster's books.
Cass is the 3rd of three best friends to fall for a Sheridan, but she fights it to the end. In the meantime, she finds happiness working with rescue dogs and learns what family is really all about, as well as getting an unexpected boost to her modeling career. Most importantly, she learns about love and all the things she’s always thought she never wanted. A sweet read!
Dear Kate, You brought to life characters that represents what family and friends should be. The greatness of paying forward not paying back. And that despite struggles, sadness there is also happiness and that is where we should take our strength from.... the happiness that family and friends brings to us. I love the Sheridans .
I loved this trilogy!! I laughed hard. I cried. My heart was broken and then filled with happiness and joy. And there was hardly a mistake in all 3 books, which unfortunately most books any more cannot claim, no matter what the price. I am definitely keeping this trilogy in my library to read again!!!
I almost didn’t buy this one in the series. If you read the blurb and go ehhhh, just buy the darn book and read it! I laughed out loud. And the epilogue on this one….knew it was coming but if you have been reading the series and especially more in this book is a bit of tear jerker.
Fast paced story from meeting to love within a matter of weeks. Strong family bonds with the Sheridans. Cass coming to realise her true calling was to rescue pups was heartwarming. Dylan finally opening up and talking to his family leads to new avenues in business.
Totally love this. Both Cass and Dylan are meant to be. This story gives humour, lust, and a touch of sadness. You get swallowed up by The Sheridans and this leaves you wanting more. 💓
All three books were great. Loved the characters and the plot. I especially liked the attitude that Anna Sheridan used to raise her family. Life worked out well for the Sheridans
Audio book - Female narrator, Lexi Evans, "acts" by being overly breathy and nasally - even audibly inhales as part of her breathy talk. Yuck. It isn't sexy, cute, nor acting. It's annoying as fuck and lazy. This is painful.
Cass and Dylan met at Logan & Allie's wedding but he is drunk and he is not a nice drunk. The second meeting is much better resulting in insta attraction.
