Did you ever wonder how Sam Cornell and Clove Winchester hooked up? Here’s your chance to find out. Travel back in time (a few months, anyway) and witness the weird magic of the Winchester world from Sam’s perspective as he works on refurbishing the Dandridge lighthouse – and fights his feelings for a certain witchy wonder. Sam and Clove have chemistry, but suspicion is working against them. He isn’t sure her family isn’t out to get him, and she can’t be sure of what his true intentions are. When you couple that with a group of teenagers wreaking havoc in the woods by the Dandridge, you have typical Winchester zaniness – in an entirely new setting. We all know Sam is a good guy, but watching him prove that to Clove will be a completely new type of adventure.
Note: This is a 25,000-word short mystery set in The Wicked Witches of the Midwest world. It can be read at any time since it is set back in time.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
This one should really get 3.5 stars. I still don't like Sam, but I dislike him less after this book. Clove acted much more in character this time as well. I'm still not sure why she likes Sam though. She even points out how he was being sneaky, self-serving & manipulative at one point. And he is, by his own admission, a coward. But Clove is known for her terrible taste in men, and I suppose liking someone her family doesn't like has its own appeal for her. Overall, this short was much better than the first one about Clove & Sam, and I'm glad to have gotten the backstory on how they got together.
This was another awesome book in this series. These are the kind of books I keep in my reread pile. Clove is really being sneaky not letting anybody know she's dating Sam. Her family doesn't like Sam and are very suspicious of why he was questioning Bay about seeing ghost. Sam is renovating the lighthouse so Clove wanted to see it. Sam discovers some kids on his property and confronts them. The next day one of girls turns up missing. Now he has Chief Terry and Landon to deal with. Hoping he can still get to know Clove better with all this other stuff going on. She wants to keep their relationship quiet from the family until they change their opinion on Sam. I loved that the book had a mystery and love story plot. One didn't take away from the other.
This one is from Sam's point of view and occurs just as he and Clove are beginning to have a relationship. Sam's working on the lighthouse and Clove helps him with gardening. Bay and the other Winchesters still don't like Sam very much, though.
There's a problem with teenagers trespassing and having drunken parties and one girl even disappears which then brings Landon and Chief Terry into the picture along with Bay. Sam has some apologizing to do but it's going to take time.
Andy is the teenager punk and it's interesting to see what happens to him and what his father has been doing.
It was interesting to see Clove, the least spoken of Winchester cousins", take centre stage. Equally, I was interested with how Clove's relationship with Sam began.
At one point I thought he fancied Bay, Clove's cousin. It turns out to be an obsession with any hair which can be described 'blonde'.
This book was told from Sam's perspective. It was an interesting take on the other characters. Plus, we see how his relationship with Clove begins. The story and characters were intriguing and engaging. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their further adventures. This book is definitely worth reading.
So this short story was told from Sam’s perspective. Why do people take showers before they garden or hike? It seems counterproductive to me. Ask for Clover, sometime when she talks, I picture her as a 10-year-old girl. She could be incredibly immature. I know the author wanted to make her more naïve, but she made her childish instead.
This story is told from Sam's perspective. How he and Clove happened to start their relationship even though the Winchester witches were against him. Clove's personality comes to life when seen through Sam's eyes. We see a new and gentle love story begin.
This is a great "how they met" story. Clove's personality shines though, and the early part of a solid relationship is born. Well written, lots of snark, and everything we love about a Winchester witches book.
Clive And Sam’s first date was magical for sure. The rest of the mania was easy to follow. I’m looking forward to more books in this series. Too bad I got the it of order though.
I love this series, it is very well written and the story line is great. I can't stop reading and look forward to more stories about the Winchester Witches
This short story is told from Sam's point of view, especially when he and Clove start dating. There is humor, mystery, a missing girl, and lots of angst. Highly recommend.
It was a refreshing change of pace to read a book from someone who starts out as an outsider. This book is from Sam's point of view.
If you're reading the books in order you already know that Bay isn't a huge fan of Sam and has kicked him out of the Overlook. You get the details on why Sam did what he did that ended up getting him kicked out. He may not be as bad of a person as Bay assumes he is in the beginning.
Sam and Clove have an interesting relationship that just seems to pop up out of nowhere in the main books. Now is your chance to find out how it all went down. Let's just say there was a lot of sneaking around.
Like every Wicked Witches of the Midwest book there is a mystery to be solved! This mystery is a little bit different than all the others but it no less important. Who will solve the mystery first? Will it be Bay, Clove, Sam, or maybe someone else?
I would recommend this book to anyone who is reading the main series. This book fills in some gaps and gives you more back story on Sam and his relationship with Clove.
Weak and totally out of phase with all the other books in the series.
Not quite what I expected. This is the story how Clove and Sam got together. The plot was weak and the attitude of Bay and her FBI hunk were totally out of character. What happened? Sorry but this needs a rewrite.
