Award Winning Author of the dark PNR: LEAGUE OF GUARDIANS series, and the UF: Reaper Series, THEY ALL FALL DOWN. *Sexy*Dark*PNR*Urban Fantasy* Sex*Violence* Angels*Demons*Vampires*Reapers*
When Ava isn't writing, she's plotting, storyboarding while plugging as much music into her ears as possible in an effort to drown out her four teenagers and cooking duties. An avid traveler and hiker, as well as professional photographer, Ava wears many hats, all which look fabulous on her. Although she was born in New England, Ava has lived around the country, before settling back in her roots, and embracing the frigid winters, and seclusion of the mountains once again with her family and beloved.
Ferrian is a young woman whose life had been doomed from the day she was born.
Her birth mother had been killed in front of her when she was but a child. Her foster mother suffered the same fate, resulting to Ferrian making a vow to never love again or allow anyone to get close to her. Years passed and she managed to turn herself into a shadow, an invisible person amidst the crowd living day in and day out.
She was almost successful with this promise to herself...until she met her guardian angel face to face. Remiel had been in the background all her life, silently watching over her but never allowed to interfere. Over the years he’d witnessed her struggles and all the heartaches she’d endured. Then one day, the girl turned into a woman and the angel found himself falling.
Ok, I’ll stop there to avoid telling the whole story in this review. What I can tell you is that this story is full of action sequence with some steamy scenes thrown in here and there. If you like gorgeous angels coming to save the day complete with wings and all and damsel in distress who kicks butt before they get saved then this is a story for you.
No, Ferrian didn’t have superpowers to begin with, she just had guts with nothing to lose and had actually found herself beaten to death several times throughout the book.
No, Remi, her guardian angel isn’t useless for not protecting her from harm all the time. He’s just not allowed to interfere with her life and the path she had to take to evolve to the person she needed to be.
Now, IF ONLY Remi just told that exact words to Ferrian in the beginning rather than trying to give her the words without coming outright with them, it would have saved her loads of heartache and me yelling at the book, shouting “Just Tell Her!!!”
There were also a couple of moments where the pace lagged behind and seemed to have lost track of the plot. Only to pick up once again and engaged me into reading further.
One disturbing aspect was scattered throughout the story was a feeling that the way of telling sounded very much like a popular vampire series from another author involving big, gorgeous males who would protect their loved-ones to the death with their black daggers.
Yet, all in all it’s a good start to the series. Now, to check out the next book...
I have waited so long since beta reading Darkest Before Dawn to come out, but it was so worth waiting for!! Author Ava Vixon has compiled an astonishing novel for us as readers to relish in with all the the angles that we are blessed to behold. The gripping, love filled words that you'll find as you quickly devour the pages as fast as you can in fear that you may miss something Will keep your eyes wide open even while they're burning from lack of sleep. And holding your breath when reading all the trials that Ferrian goes through will have you gripping your kindle so tight your fingers will start to tingle (well at least mine did) . I fell in love with Ferrian's character right from the beginning, seeing the fighting strong will that she possessed to overcome everything that was thrown at her from a young baby to her day of transition. To go through just a quarter of the trials that she did, surely meant she was meant for greater things in my mind. WOW it's mind blowing how she had the will to survive!!!! Yet she did. Remiel's character of course is right there along with Ferrian's as one that I fell in love with, how could he not be. He's Ferrian's love, her added strength, her guardian. They are perfect for each other. she is dark, he is light, they balance each other, and together they are complete. A story of good and evil, good versus evil.....
Ferrian must chose which side to belong. Will she chose the right side?
I highly recommend this phenomenal read to all lovers of angels, fantasy and good versus evil as a MUST READ....
Thank you Ms. Ava for the amazing story of Ferrian and Remi, now please hurry up with book 2!
Ava Vixion has done it again with another amazing story! I seriously enjoyed the fresh take on both angels and demons. My heart broke for the main character so many times. To survive as much as she has really says a lot about her character. The love story between the two main characters was actually quite beautiful and I can't wait to see how that grows. My favorite part is probably the group of guardians in general. They're an amazing mix of personalities and I certainly wouldn't want to get on their bad side! I'm officially addicted to this series now, the next one simply can't come out soon enough! ~Platinum Book Reviews~
I have never been one to read novels where angels and demons come together for a steamy romance during a battle between good and evil that could save our world. Ava Vixion managed to bring it to life before my very eyes and suck me into Ferrian and Remiel’s world. I couldn’t stop turning the pages and found myself rooting for the faithful heroine throughout the whole book.
It’s obvious from the start that Ferrian has had a rough life;she has been battered and bruised. She has a lot to fear and has every right to lose faith in the world and people around her. There were definitely parts of Ferrian that I could relate to and others I could sympathize with and truly I wanted the girl to catch a break. So when Remiel comes into the picture I was jumping for joy. Not only is Remiel an angelic hottie but he is there for Ferrian as a support system that she truly needs. I simply hate authors who slam their heroine with all these negative things and make it nearly impossible to lift them back up again. Remiel is the knight in shiny winged armor. Yes, he has a few flaws of his own but deep down he always wants to do what’s right for Ferrian, which is what makes my heart flutter.
Darkest Before Dawn has a lot of moments where you have to take a step back to breathe. It also has moments that make you want to tear up and some where you want to laugh out loud. Ava Vixion created a world that I want to explore with characters that I want to know better. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the first in the League of Guardians series and ends in an HEA. Ferrian is a loner, barely living, just surviving. She has suffered horrifically throughout her life. She has a guardian angel, Remi, who looks after her, but can’t interfere. I didn’t understand how he could stand by and watch her be beaten and raped. What is the point of a guardian angel? Remi has these same thoughts and eventually he does intervene making himself known to Farrian.
>This story takes place on earth, but an earth with otherworldly creatures. Ferrian is a darkling. When she turns 25, she will turn good or evil. No one is to influence her, but evil hasn’t been following the rules, so Remi steps in. There is an interesting cast of good guys in the angel realm. They all fight with each other as siblings would, especially Roc. I have a feeling the dirty talking Roc has the most interesting story of them all.
>Watching Ferrian overcome the abuse that is piled upon her is not only unbelievable, but beautiful. She is able to win out over evil and find happiness with Remi. The only part of the story I found tiresome was Remi constantly losing Ferrian and trying to find her. That plot point was over used a bit. This story is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. The characters are all intriguing. I am curious to see what is going to happen next.
A beautifully crafted world where angels and demons are fighting for control. The author wrote poetically weaving a fantastic dark and sexy fantasy story together. The plot was done well. My only quip would be that sometimes the author got lost in her words that the pace was slowed because of it and some things that required more explanation and detail didn't get explained like I wanted or was glossed over. The characters were good and I loved how each had their own personalities and secrets. I definitely can't wait to hear more about them. The one thing I found a little annoying was how many times it was repeated that the character had green eyes. With a little work on wordiness I would've rated it a five plus star. I would definitely recommend this book to fantasy lovers and those who enjoy a dark good verses evil story or if you're an angel book lover! Can't wait for the next book!
This book holds a lot of potential, although it was hard to get into and stay in it. I'm intrigued by this world of sinning angels and I need to read more in the series to get some answers.
There are several grammar and spelling errors, and a few times that had redundant scenes that could be trimmed. It was hard to read about poor Farrian going through so many bad things over and over, but then the need to find out what would happen to Farrian would win over, and I'd dive back in. Now I need to find out how the rest of the story goes, so I'll be diving into the next book in the series.
Darkest Before Dawn was a great paranormal read with angels and demons that was full of action from the very start. Ferrian (Aingeal) has had a rough life from the moment her mother was tragically taken from her. She believed she's cursed. Remi her guardian has watched Ferrian from afar but with everything she's facing, Remi worries if everything she's dealing with will push her towards the dark side. This book is a great recommendation for all paranormal lovers.
Arc review ,for honest review. this story was interesting it's about angels and demons. It keep me spell bound till the end. I'm interested to see how the next darkling handles his course of good or evil. great job.
