Review: I don’t think I have found a book by Ragan that I have not LOVED!! This one was no exception. While it is a quick read, it is packed to the gills with mystery and you are brought along the joy ride while Jason tries to prove his innocence. It’s such a great book that I really enjoyed listening to! Great for any thriller fans out there. Definitely recommend!
Sorry, I didn't like the writing style at all and couldn't finish, although other people may love it. The story was made up mostly of dialogue which isn't a bad thing, but the characters seemed pretty cookie cutter and the story was too simple in style. I'll try another book by this author though.
I really enjoy this author and when I found this book on KU, I thought I would give it a shot. Very glad I did! It starts when Angela goes to work at the morgue on her birthday and finds on of the bodies should not be there because he is alive! This turns into a cross country road trip to prove his innocence and suspense at figuring out what happened. Great story!
This is a quick read about a wrongfully convicted man serving a life sentence who escapes from prison. He reluctantly pairs with a female morgue attendant who has pretty much given up on love and life. They form a bond and ma7y actually have a future if they can live to tell about the evidence that proves his innocence.
Improbably and implausible it still was fun reading. Not much on characterization and there were some things that weren't followed up or that made sense. The end felt rushed but it was decently entertaining.
This was such a quick read that I feel like a lot of the meat of the story was left out. The situation could have been more descriptive and elongated. I feel like the end was so rushed but it did keep me reading. I hope more of Ragen's books keep you interested but have more to the story.
Great book, there is suspense and romance with a little adventure. I read this book on vacation at the beach. My only warning is making sure you wear sunscreen because you won't want to put it down.
This was a good story but the characters didn't seem to have the level of depth that Theresa developed in the Lizzy Gardner series. I was a little disappointed but it was still a good short read.
I enjoyed DMR an appealing buoyant pace and likeable if, a bit implausible , main characters but where/how did the brief encounter two women in a relationship fit in to the story?
Wow, that was a hard task, finishing that book. Yes, a book that should have taken a couple of hours to read, just took me almost a couple of weeks! I hate to give low ratings, but that was so poorly written and so cheesy that it was just difficult to get through. The characters are stereotypical and so shallow, the plot so predictable, and the dialogue sounded as if it came right out of a 1950s TV detective show. I know everyone comes across a typo or grammar error every now and then, but at one point she mixes up the names of her dead character and one of the suspects. A few redeeming qualities...it was short and one of the main characters was a Jacksonville Jaguar fan.
Angela, a mortician, finds a naked man pretending to be dead while she's working in the morgue alone. Jason is an escaped convict that has been wrongfully convicted of murder. He's been in jail since he was 27 but has never been to a Starbucks and has never had coffee. Angela is taken hostage but quickly realizes he's not a bad guy and now wants to help him. ~ not sure if this is a mystery or a romance. The plot is very loosely put together and unrealistic. Not Ragans best work.
This was a fairly short book, I read it in a little over an hour. It was entertaining, and it kept my interest, but it wasn't very believable. So many times I kept thinking they should have been caught, but they managed to get away. Also, the FBI were incredibly inept. They didn't tap everyone's phone that knew Jason?
I definitely prefer the Lizzy Gardner and Faith McMann series from this author. When it comes to this genre I like reading books that are a little darker and more intense.
A thriller to be contended with ,for sure! It has everything to keep you turning pages. Twists, turns, surprises, mystery and a great ending to boot. I felt my heart pound when Angela stepped onto that semi, then when I finally figured out who did what to whom, I was excited to read the ending. Great! Story!
Dead Man Running is an exciting murder mystery with a twist written by author Theresa Ragan. A convicted murderer escapes prison in order to prove his innocence.
This was a very good who done mystery. It keep you guessing until the very end. I loved the plot twist about who actually did the crime. Kind of unrelated to the story, Angela loving the Jacksonville Jaguars had me laughing out loud. I live in Jacksonville fl.
Convicted of a crime he didn't commit, Jason has to find a way to prove his innocence and find the guilty person, he never thought the killer would be someone so close to him.
Despite the subject matter, this actually ended up being a nice light read. I was engrossed in the plot from page 1 and the story flew by. I was surprised by the killer and liked that I was kept guessing. I would have liked more of their romance, but overall I enjoyed the story.
She is so predictable and is a flashback to a heroine from a bad 80s Romance novel. If you're interested in reading about a strong heroes, check out The Body Reader by Anne Frasier.
I really enjoyed this story. Quick reading easy to follow even with some fast turns. All of her other books I have read were in a series, so I enjoyed a one and done.
