Kylie Tate is highly successful and focused on her future. No one sees the fear that consumes her, ravaged by demons from a past that left her distrustful of love.
Alex Stone is rarely denied. Not by business associates, and certainly not the women he dates and forgets. Romance is never an option. That is until beautiful, sexy, too damned independent Kylie comes into his life and frustrates the hell out of him. She sparks a desire in him to protect her from the one demon that haunts her - and threatens to destroy them both.
Pushed to her limit and unwilling to be a victim any longer, Kylie takes control of her life.
But a madman’s quest for revenge not only threatens to destroy the love she has finally found – but also her life.

OK... I felt bad about not finishing the book so I gave in and read the rest of it. I just couldn't let it go unfinished.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS.... YOU WERE WARNED!
This book started off with promise. I liked the unconventional way Kylie and Alex met. I thought it was funny and cute that this girl on a jog was coming to the rescue of this rich boy and his broken down fancy car. I liked the back and forth between them as they chatted. She was snarky and witty and he was all smexy and charming. But the further on I read it seemed to change and I didn't like the changes at all.
I know there are things that happen in books that are farfetched and sometimes downright unbelievable. Sometimes I can let it go and just be in the book and enjoy it for what it is and be happy with it all. I just couldn't do that with this one because the decisions and choices Kylie made absolutely infuriated me. I could not get on board with the to quick relationship that unfolds or the continuing stupidity of this supposedly intelligent woman. Just after a few chapters it all went downhill for me.
I struggled a lot with this book because of the decisions Kylie made. First it was all the drama with the ex. There was a lot of things happening that had me screaming at my kindle in frustration with how the whole situation was dealt with. He beat her, punched her, pushed her around, broke into her home, choked her and the list goes on. Not once were the police involved. This woman is a criminal lawyer. Yes, you read that right. How can a criminal lawyer who probably has a good insight on how these things go, get beaten so bad while being handcuffed and strung up by a belt in a shower just run off without contacting the authorities. But the stupid doesn't end there. Nope. She works with him. She is even working a case with him. I just can't... You have to realize how crazy that is and why I struggled so hard with this character. Second; Her relationship with Alex. She has come from this horrible relationship of being beaten and controlled and says numerous times she has trust issues. YET, she goes on a boat ride with Alex, who she doesn't know well, and she goes with him alone. Then stays the night with him out in the middle of the ocean. Alone. Where are those trust issues? Oh, and then he practically tells her she's staying at his house and moves her clothes to his place. How is this not controlling? It was like the same relationship she had left just without the abuse. She contradicted herself constantly about the things she said to the actions she made.
This book has gotten plenty of 4&5 star ratings so obviously I'm in the minority here. But that right there just shows how that saying different strokes for different folks stands to be true. Cause this dolls, was not for me, but it was for many others. So there is a very high chance this could be your kind of read. If you take a chance on it I look forward to reading your thoughts on it.
Happy reading dolls! xx
**I RECIEVED AN ARC IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW**
I'm not going to waste any time getting down to business on this one. Let's get down to it. I absolutely adored this book. At first. And by at first, I mean the first couple of chapters. I really enjoyed both main characters, Kylie and Alex, and I thought that the story had this fun, spunky feel to it. I thought that the story had this effortless feel to it ... I didn't have to force myself to get lost within the story or fight to stay focused ... I just really was enjoying reading this book.
But then it happened ... the kiss of death for a romance novel: an unrealistic relationship. Ugh. I just didn't get it. The progression of Kylie and Alex's relationship was just ridiculous. It was just so fast. Alex was all possessive and it wasn't in the cute way ... it's not cute when you know someone for 4 days and then you're forcing them to stay in your house. That's called kidnapping. That shit is against the law and in no way attractive. Then you get to the sex scenes. These also felt unrealistic. They were stiff (not in the good way) and forced. The dialogue was also awkward. It didn't seem like something that would actually happen because they both sounded like broken records because they just said the same stuff over and over. For the love of everything fluffy ... spice it up, people!
And then there's Kylie's ex. If you don't want spoilers, you'll want to turn away immediately. Because while I'm not saying anything super-big, it is still a spoiler. Anyhow ... Kylie took this big step to get away from her abusive boyfriend (making him an ex) and she cut most ties but then she doesn't go to the police ... because of her job ... dude. That's having your priorities straight. Your job is definitely more important than getting killed by this sadistic freak because after he finally kills you, you'll at least have a place to work, right?
And THEN ... you know how when you're watching a horror film and this chick is getting terrorized by some psycho? You know the deal ... she gets a call from said nut-job and he says that he's in the house and then the dumb chick decides to go upstairs and grab her bobby-pins or some stupid shit and then you're left screaming at the screen that she needs to leave the damn house because he's right behind her ... yeah. That happened in this book. Numerous times. I wanted to just toss my Kindle out the window and call it a day.
Basically, by the time I was about 75% through with the book, I had checked out. It felt like I had been reading Of Demons & Stones for a couple of decades. I just wanted it to end.
Once again, I find myself in the minority with my feelings about a book. There are a ton of people who really enjoyed this novel. Don't take my word for it, check it out and let me know what you think!

Book Review For: Of Demons & Stones by Anne L. Parks Of Demons & Stones by Anne L. Parks is book one in this continuing story of Kylie Tate and Alex Stone....so beware that there is a cliffhanger. I will honestly say that I loved this book and truly wanted their story to keep going. This is a lot of things going on in their story so it will be one you won't want to put down...so beware of that too. I just so happy to have found this author and can't wait for more of her books! Kylie has been moving up in her company at a top criminal lawyer...but Kylie has to work still with her abusive ex boyfriend who almost killed her. Kylie kept it a secret from the firm due to threats from the ex boyfriend and the shame of his abuse attached with the story. Kylie has avoided all romantic encounters until she happens to meet Alex. Kylie is very much attracted to Alex but thinks that he wouldn't really give her a second look. But Alex it seems has started to notice her and asking her out. Kylie then thinks maybe he is staying with his one night affair reputation and that he might be the one to get her out into the dating world again. Kylie thinks this because she assumes this really wouldn't be very serious relationship for Alex. Kylie finds soon enough that Alex is wanting more than just a few dates and she does too. But the ex boyfriend too has started to notice that she is seeing Alex and starts to be more confrontational that he has been since they dated. This story has a lot of drama, love, hero trying to protect 'his women' and also it would seem a possible secret that Alex has told Kylie about. "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."https://www.amazon.com/gp/profile/A2H...http://sissymaereads.blogspot.com/https://romancebookreviewforyou.wordp...https://www.tumblr.com/blog/romancebo...
Of Demons & Stones is a fantastic read. I was sucked in from the first page and I absolutely love Kylie's character. I loved Alex too but Kylie for some reason just stuck with me.
Alex is your typical billionaire playboy until he meets Kylie that is and then like a brick wall smacking him in the head his need for her and his need to protect her overcome him. Kylie has the demons from her past relationships haunting her and a psychopath hunting her. In the midst of that Alex and Kylie are quickly falling in love and both battling their pasts to work towards a future, or will a psychopath ruin any future they might have?
Amazing read - if you like romantic suspense this is the book for you.
A delightful Kylie and Alex story. One is self assured, the other a billionaire who thinks he can get whatever he wants. Intriguing to make your day. Received a free book and definitely ready to get the rest.

*****5 Mr. Rich Pants Stars*****
Ms. Parks is a new author to me and I was hooked from the first chapter! I absolutely loved how Kylie and Alex meet on the side of the road when his very expensive Maserati breaks down and Kylie schools Alex, Mr. Rich Pants as she dubs him, on his lack of knowledge about the workings of cars!
”Pop the hood….please?”........An impatient appeal comes from the driver’s side. “Really, I can just call a tow truck.” “Oh, don’t get your knickers in a knot,” I mutter under my breath, checking the battery cables. “Do you have any juice at all?” “Juice?”
Kylie is a successful defense attorney, recently promoted to an office in “The Penthouse” of the law offices where she works. She is also a very strong and feisty woman!
The male associates in the penthouse, who had mounted a protest when it was announced that a female attorney would be moving into a suite, had apparently nearly revolted when I snagged a corner office. Every time I enter it, I feel like I’m giving them the proverbial finger while my subconscious tells them to fuck off.
Alex is a multibillionaire, businessman extraordinaire, and the most eligible bachelor worldwide. And a playboy!
When Kylie is introduced to one of the firm’s clients by her boss, she is shocked to discover it is Mr. Rich Pants himself!
This is the reader’s introduction to the main characters. This is when their intense chemistry explodes. What ensues is a rollercoaster of flirty texts, a moonlit dance on a boat, a quiet dinner, steamy kisses, and then a revelation from Alex…
“I have never met anyone like you-smart, beautiful, funny, tough, kick-ass in the courtroom. You amaze me...and scare the hell out of me.”
As their romance slowly intensifies, there is someone in Kylie’s past who wants her back and refuses to leave her alone. Kylie tells Alex about her ex boyfriend and his abuse of her, and he sees the physical and emotional scars he left behind.
“Please, don’t just listen to me. Hear me. I would love nothing more than to give you the world, but I know my limitations. I wish I could erase all the demons from your past. All I can do is offer a future without demons—well, with more well-managed demons. I don’t claim to have all the answers or any degree of expertise in this area at all. I want you to come with me on this journey, to trust me. If you step off the ledge with me, we’ll learn to fly together. I promise I’ll take you under my wing when you falter, if you’ll do the same for me. I need you to take a leap of faith with me, so we both have the opportunity to heal and be happy.”
“What little faith I have left,” I whisper, “I give to you.”
But there are demons, or should I say, demonesses, in Alex’s past that also try to keep them apart. As events escalate to extremes and Kylie’s life is in danger, it is all Alex can do to keep her alive!
What happens in the end? Can Kylie change Alex’s feelings about love to commit to her? What happened in Alex’s past that makes him feel he is unlovable? Do they find their love together? Or does the demon from Kylie’s past come back to take her life? Some of these questions will get answered. Hint: This is the first book of a “Trilogy”, so now I will have to IMPATIENTLY wait until the next installment! Get writing Ms. Parks!

Growing up poor, I was forced to make an old clunker run on wire hangers and duct tape, and I learned a lot about the internal workings of vehicles. I also learned about the cars I hoped to drive someday – like Mr. Rich Pant’s Maserati.
I notice the block letter monogram in navy threads that reads, AS. …’No middle initial. Just wondering if that’s because it also starts with an S?’
All those years of early morning trips to the gym, five-mile runs in the rain, and lap after lap in the pool have paid off. At thirty-five, I have the body of a twenty-year-old – well, late twenty-year-old perhaps.
I sigh. She has succumbed to the Alex Stone effect. ‘Please stop flashing your million-dollar smile at my assistance. She nearly melted into the carpet. And I rely on her a lot.’
I don't need you because I want to save you. I want to save you because I need you to save me. I’ve been waiting for you for so long.
My Review:
Of Demons & Stones was a clever title for this engaging story. While primarily an adult contemporary romance, there were also strong elements of suspense as well as amusing descriptions and humorous banter. The first quarter of the book detailed the fun and excitement of new relationship and budding romance, which was reportedly the first for the male protagonist. I enjoyed these enticing characters and the playful banter and amusing exchanges between them as they reveled in their shiny and new relationship, they were as cute and infatuated as teenagers falling in love for the first time. But things took a darker and ominous turn when threats and complications arose from their pasts. Kylie kept expecting the worst, and Alex was not forthcoming with his own past and present concerns. Tensions mounted and melodrama ensued with their emotions and relationship status flip-flopping more times than I could count. They had sizzling chemistry though and the sensual scenes had my kindle steaming. I would be stewing and stamping my little foot over the cliffhanger if I didn’t already have book two loaded and ready to go.
“My knees turn to jelly at the sound of his silky voice practically making love to my name. I curse my body’s reaction to him.”
5 intense, edge of your seat stars!! Wow, this book was powerful. You feel the fear that Kylie is going through and you understand why Alex is the way he is with her.
Kylie has severe trust issues after her last relationship with John. The issue? He was overly aggressive in the bedroom and he beat her within an inch of her life. So the last thing she wants is a relationship. But that all changes the day she sees Alex Stone stranded on the side of the road. She offers her help, which he accepts and that’s all it takes. Alex is a man, who never dates a girl more than once, but the minute he meets Kylie, he wants to keep her close and in his heart. But as they start getting more serious, she starts getting harassed by her ex and it gets increasingly worse as time goes on. The deeper she falls for Alex, the more she fears she’s not enough. But how far can they go before John intervenes and threatens them both?? This book was intense, but I loved it. The cliffhanger has me on edge and I need to know what happens next!!! Aaaaaaahhhhh!!!!

This is book 1 in the trilogy and it's an exciting, suspenseful thriller, it is a cliffhanger but would have you begging for more with or with out the teaser of an ending. Kylie has risen up in her law firm to be a top criminal lawyer, but the down side is she has to work with an abusive ex boyfriend who nearly killed her. She kept information of there split secret after her ex threatened her and her shame at allowing him to abuse her in the first place and in such a debased and cruel manner was to much. Understandably she avoids any type of romantic encounters until she meets Alex Stone. She's attracted to him but doesn't expect to meet him again until he shows up unexpectedly....he seems way out of her league and he doesn't date anyway, but he surprises her and asks her out, she agrees which leads them to a relationship that neither of them expected. Kylie isn't expecting anything too serious but when her ex begins to cause problems again Alex is there to protect her and she learns than he is interested in more than just a few casual dates and that he doesn't shy away from confrontation were her ex is concerned. There's love and fun in the story and bantering which is well written and adds a gentle release to the drama in the plot, because yes there's also tension, suspense and descriptive abuse. The hero, Alex, is a guy new to relationships and love but had no trouble showing his protective streak. My only problem was Kylie's character, it wasn't very consistent, she flee's from her dominating, abusive ex, then falls for another guy who shows dominating tendencies (he didn't beat her, but still?) On saying that I still have to say I enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next.
Of Demons & Stones is a highly addictive and all consuming read with all the FEELS! Romance, suspense, intrigue and heat that is burn the pages hot!! I was enraptured from the very first word to the last and a definite must read that you do not want to miss!!
Kylie Tate is highly successful up and coming defense lawyer solely focused on her future, until she meets Mr Rich Pants himself. Swept up in everything that is Alex Stone it's not long before her insecurities and the fear that consumes her, ravaged by demons from a past that left her distrustful of love raise their ugly heads...
"I hang up the phone and feel the smile slip from my face. Dinner canceled. Emergency meeting in Toronto. Even though my heart is telling me to just calm down, my mind immediately goes to a dark place. It screams at me from the shadows that men cannot be trusted. It chastised me, convincing me that no one will ever stay. And my insecurities, that are born from abandonment and abuse, cling to every word, banishing any thoughts that I am anything more than an interesting diversion for Alex."
Alex Stone is a force to be reckoned with, he's rarely denied. Not by business associates, and certainly not the women he dates and forgets. Romance is never an option. That is until beautiful, sexy, too damned independent Kylie comes into his life and frustrates the hell out of him.
"The potential of a relationship with Alex send my heart soaring and my mind into darkness. There is a side to Alex Stone that is endearing and romantic and seductive. But he has a reputation, and I'm not sure how much of what he has said and done this weekend is part of his playbook."
She sparks a desire in him to protect her from the one demon that haunts her - and threatens to destroy them both.
Pushed to her limit and unwilling to be a victim any longer, Kylie takes control of her life.
But a madman’s quest for revenge not only threatens to destroy the love she has finally found – but also her life...
Of Demon & Stones is the first instalment in Anne L. Parks Tri-Stone Trilogy. The writing flows effortlessly and quickly draws you into the story and before you know it, you are so connected to the characters, all their beautifully flawed and real insecurities laid bare. Sheer emotional magnificence. As the story developed I felt giddy with anticipation. It was edge of your seat and for me a perfect reading experience. Can't recommend it enough and after that colossal cliffhanger I need the next instalment like now...hint hint!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an HONEST review. **SPOILERS AHEAD**
I began writing short and honest book reviews because I began to notice that there were occasions when I would get a book that was so well reviewed, only to discover that the book was in fact not worthy of it's rankings. As a busy woman, I don't have time to cypher through every review on Amazon or Goodreads to find the ones that were truthful and unbiased in their feedback. In writing I always endeavor to be those two things, even when it is harsh which is the case with "Of Demons & Stones."
Kylie Tate is a criminal defense attorney at a prestigious law firm. Alex Stone is a forty five year old is a billionaire entrepreneur who is a known playboy. He also happens to be a client of Kylie's law firm. Kylie is a year out of an abusive and controlling relationship, but falls right in step with Alex after a mere couple days.
My problems with this book began after just a handful of chapters. I have stated before that I detest when an author showcases troubling behaviors as "sweet or he must really care." Stalking, coercion, manipulation, and controlling are not flattering behaviors, they are FRIGHTENING! The character Kylie who is supposed to be a smart woman who learned a very painful lesson about how scary these behaviors can be, but when Alex does these very same things, somehow the reader is supposed to feel that they are ok. In fact, one of Kylie's closest friends tells us "his actions might have been misguided, but they came from a good place." Sorry Kylie, you need new friends. If a man will use his power and connections to track you and coerce information about you, that comes from not a good place - in fact in comes from a very dangerous place. If a man will use his influence to interfere with your career under the guise of "keeping you safe" he is really just keeping you under control. I love an Alpha Male Romance novel and I believe that was the author's intent but it was way off the mark.
This plot felt very unoriginal and uninspired. There were many cliche' aspects to the story and it just began to drag on. Being nearly 400 pages, it could have certainly benefitted from some editing as well as help with the storyline which felt fragmented. I found a handful of grammatical errors as well. The writing began to grate on me after a while with the closing paragraphs of every chapter feeling underdeveloped and the use of the word "safe" was overdone.
The story ends with a cliffhanger but as you can safely assume, I will not be reading the next 2 books in the trilogy.
Holy Hell!! Where do I even start with this review? I have read and loved all of this author's previous books, but this book was over the top A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!
This is the story of Kylie Tate, an on-the-rise defense attorney who meets Alex Stone, the sexy, handsome billionaire who has the world at his feet. There is a mutual attraction between them but Kylie knows that Alex is the man denied nothing, including women. His reputation precedes him.
The overwhelming urge to dislike this man is arm-wrestling with my schoolgirl crush, which is pissing me off. I'm too old to have this type of a reaction to this man. Add to that a deep distrust of men, and Alex Stone is nothing more than a fantasy that I can live without.
I girl-crushed on Kylie! She is a strong woman, despite the demons of her past which still continue to haunt her. I fell in love with Alex as well, but several times throughout this book, I uttered a "WTF" out loud to my kindle over his actions. We get a glimpse that Alex too, has some demons in his past, but he refuses to share them with Kylie even though she has bared her heart to him about her past. They both struggle with issues of trust.
Despite Kylie's rationalization about Alex, they fall for each other and in a big way. And Kylie realizes that his reputation is anything but who he really is.
"Please stop flashing your million-dollar smile at my assistant. She nearly melted into the carpet. And I rely on her a lot." "Who? Me?" Alex put his hand on his chest. "And it's a billion-dollar smile, baby."
This book has it all! Even the criminal court case that Kylie is working on had me sitting on the edge of my chair when the jury's verdict was in.
Kylie's past comes back with a vengeance and Alex attempts to protect her. There are some gut-wrenching moments, some 'I never saw that coming' moments, and just a wild roller-coaster of a ride. This book ends in a big cliffhanger (you have been warned) and I cannot wait until the next book is out.
If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. I highly recommend this to everyone who loves a fast paced, thrilling romance!
I was given a copy of this in exchange for my honest review.
Note: If you have triggers from reading about severe abuse and violence against women do not read this book.
Kylie Tate is a focused and driven criminal defense attorney. She has spent her life working hard and making something of herself. Her two best friends Ryan and Paul have been her constant as she has no family to speak of except the two men she met in college. The man she works for, Jack has been like a father to her and is her biggest fan. Everything seems all sunshine and roses except for her past that took her to hell at the hands of a man she works with. No one knows and no one will ever know – John Sysco is a psychopath but on the outside everyone sees a great man.
Alex Stone is a billionaire yet his life is haunted by something he cannot make right or fix. He has enormous guilt for not being able to help the woman who needed him the most. Standing on the side of the road after his car broke down, a stranger approaches him and offers him a hand. The woman is someone special --- but his life has no room for love.
These two characters were a little infuriating for me. Kylie is experiencing the effects of a brutizlied woman but being a criminal defense attorney she should know better than to put herself in harms way continually. Alex is overbearing, with good reason as you will find out, but all these two did was fight and make up. It was somewhat exhausting.
This really was not my cup of tea. However as I always encourage you to make your own decisions please do so on this one. There is a big cliffhanger with the next book being due out in the Summer. There was also an incident (death) with an animal that didn’t sit well with me. However it does paint a picture of what we animal people point out to law enforcement continually of how killers; abusers start their violent rampage.
There are some graphic details in parts of the story with Kylie and John so beware of that is an issue for you. Again, please read the other reviews on this one and click it up if you think this one is for you.
Thank you Anne for the ARC. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Kylie is an up and coming lawyer with a partnership in a big firm. She appears strong, professional and all put together. Although her ex, John, is also a well-liked partner in the same firm, all seems fine—even when they are assigned to work on the same cases.
All is not well. Kylie is strong, she is professional and successful, but she is not all right because John's professional side is a thin veneer of the psychopath beneath. He wants her back and will do anything to succeed.
Alex has a reputation, known as much for his parade of young one night beauties as his professional success. Although he is a major client for her firm, she doesn't recognize him when she sees him stranded with a dead cell phone and car. She slows her jog to loan him her phone and take a look under the hood of his oh so expensive foreign car. Their first encounter is filled with assumptions and a reaction he rarely gets from any woman. Intrigued, he meets her soon after at the firm and she remembers why he looked familiar.
This is the beginning of a relationship. Yes, Alex Stone gets involved in an actual relationship with a smart, professional, gorgeous adult woman. But is she as put together as she seems? Can she hide her abusive past from him? Should she? Is she even ready to get involved? She has determined never to trust a man again, but maybe this man is okay, he never has relationships. Maybe she is ready for what he can offer. Little does she realize where this will take her.
This book is touching, the characters grow throughout the book in a real romance of love, learning, loyalty and trust. Hard lessons are learned along the way. Secrets can pull them together or tear them apart. It will take trust they have yet to feel in order for both to hear enough to be personal partners. Can they do it? Or does it matter how hard they try—her living demon is determined. Will he succeed?
The cliffhanger will catch you unawares. The good news is, more to come. Soon, please.
Kylie Tate is the first woman to break through that glass ceiling at the law firm she works at as a defense attorney. She formerly dated another attorney named John. He was not happy when she made it up to the penthouse level of the firm. He was part of the Good Ole Boy's Club. One day, Kylie is out for a run before going to work and comes across a man standing next to a car, looking very annoyed. She runs past and then thinks better of it and goes back. She allows him to use her phone to call for a pick up after he discovered his phone battery has died just like the car has. What happens two days later at the law firm? Jack, the person who is a father figure to her and helped her get to the penthouse level of the firm, comes into her office with a client, one Alex Stone. What does he need or want? When Kylie starts dating someone, how unhinged does John get? This book is full of murder, intrigue, suspense, thrills, darkness, hope, love, hate, and much romance This was an incredible first book in this series. I hope to read a second book soon, because I need to read it now with the cliff hanger this book leaves off with. Kylie is lead chair on a murder trial case. John was due to be her second chair. I've been a fan of Parks since her debut novel "Strangers". When I saw she was writing a romantic suspense I had to check it out. I enjoyed the story and the writing was good as usual. My main issue was with the heroine! Kylie was supposed to be this tough lawyer and go getter. Meanwhile her ex boyfriend was abusive and she stayed silent. John (ex) did some unspeakable things to her and she never told anyone for the sake of her career. Meanwhile they still work together and he is harassing her on a regular basis!! Get it together Girl!!! If I was Kylie I would have reported him long time ago!!
The relationship between Kylie and Alex. Man oh man this relationship was deeper than I thought it would be. Alex wasn't your typical billionaire playboy. He had a real sad and legit reason why he was the way he was. That's was such a heartbreaking moment in the book and I wanted to hug him. Kylie has her own demons as well. What I enjoyed the most about their relationship was that it wasn't perfect. They both had issues and fought a lot. Some of the fights could have been avoided if Kylie wasn't so damn stubborn! Like come girl now is not the time to play around!
Overall I enjoyed the story very much, story has a combination of everything I enjoy! The ending left me pissed in a good way and yes it's a cliffhanger but the next book will be out soon! I can't wait to see what awaits Kylie and Alex in Revenge.

At first it seemed to have a similar story line/base as "Fifty Shades of Grey" which kind of turned me off. But it developed into it's own rhythm and I really liked the story.
The main hero, Alex is a likable character. The heroine, Kylie can come across as a little childish at some points, but she's still relatable.
I got this book from net gallery for an honest review.
I liked the book and the beginning definitely grabbed my attention. The interactions between Kyle and Alex were funny and entertaining. Evidently, both have skeletons in their closet and Kyle's psycho stalker problem is disclosed quite early in the book.
Alex is protective and his demeanour surprised me. He's supposed to be a playboy but he's anything but that with Kyle.
Halfway through the book: an annoying pattern of arguing and having make up Sex started and that dragged on right till the very end. I understood Alex's point of view and his overprotective nature especially, in light of the threats. However, Kyle's behaviour sometimes irritated me.
I did enjoy the book but in my opinion, the book dragged on way too much. The book started becoming monotonous with the same conflicts arising between the characters. I found it draining to a point I started to skim read. In my opinion, this book probably wasn't for me but I'm sure many would love it.
Of Demons & Stones has an interesting premise, but it was a bit lacking for my tastes. Kylie is a successful attorney who happens upon Mr. Rich Pants Alex Stone as she's running by. When she stops and offers him her phone to call for help, he's intrigued by her. She's intrigued, and attracted, too, and when she finds out her boss is his attorney, all bets are off. Little does she know that Alex arranges for her to be his nephew's attorney, all so he can see her and get to know her.
As they fall into a relationship, it's sexy and steamy, but Kylie has a black past, one which will come to haunt her. Her ex, who also happens to be an attorney at her firm, is a psychotic freak who is enraged when Kylie starts dating Alex, and makes a major pain of himself. It's here in the story when I started to have misgivings about Kylie. She's a smart woman, so why she let her ex get away with all the stuff he puts her through, without letting the police and her boss know, I can't even fathom. She acted so stupidly, so many times that I just wanted to smack her. She's the one you yell at in horror movies, because she does exactly what she shouldn't. I'm not saying she deserved what her ex does to her, but she could certainly have tried to prevent it, by letting someone know. Sigh...I hate it when authors make smart women do stupid things.
And then there's the relationship between Alex and Kylie. Alex is sexy, and sweet, but he's holding back from Kylie. He wants her trust, yet he doesn't trust her enough to tell her his past and his secrets. It isn't until almost the very end that he finally opens up to her and lets her in completely. I wish he had done that much earlier, and that it wouldn't have taken Kylie leaving him for him to come to his senses.
I do want to read the remaining parts of this trilogy, but I hope they're better than this first one. Hopefully Alex is more open and Kylie uses more common sense.
I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
This is the kind of read that lets me know I have issues, but it isn't my fault. There are those author's out there that can write a story and they are good. Their characters touch you and make you want to read more and yada yada. This author is one that takes it a step further. You not only want her characters to succeed and get their hea but you also get so tangled up in their chaos that you want to forget about your own twisted crap going on. Then you want to take it a step further and talk to them because of course they can hear you thru the book. Yeah I know it doesn't work out at all.
Anyway with all of that you have two people that are fighting their norm to be together each experiencing first in many aspects of their relationship many not healthy at all but what can I do they just wont listen when I tell them not to do something. This author weaves so many webs for us to dance through to get the entire story and then. . . yup it's a cliff hanger. But hey we were warned and I am good with it, because I need these details and I need the issues and I need to stop writing this review so I can get on to book 2 cos it's on sale and I bought it. This book is awesome and 25% in I was spreading the word on just how good it was.
I struggled through this book, hoping it would get better.
The beginning is what I loved the most. I love how they met! That was GREAT! Then it snowballed. Kylie is a lawyer, yet doesn't seem to understand what is happening to her or happened to her is reportable to the police. I get her trust issues, I do. Those were the most realistic part of the story. Poor girl had some terrible trust issues. Yet, she slipped right into Alex and his story.
Why would he want to be with her? It's a question she asked herself many times.
Why did she want to be in a relationship with him?
Kylie kept putting herself in the situation where her ex-abuser could get a hold of her again. For a lawyer, she's not very smart. For having trust issues, she does stuff that doesn't make sense.
I feel like I've read hundreds of books with the same unrealistic relationship. A wealthy man saves the woman. Yeah, I'm tapping out.
Halfway through this book, I began to wonder if I somehow was given a different copy from the people who read the 4-5 star book. This book has grammar and spelling mistakes. *SIGH*
A great read, could not put this book down. Kylie Tate first meets Alex Stone when she is out for a run and comes across him standing next to his Maserati which has broken down. She lends him her phone so he can call someone to come get him, while she uses it to call her car repairman to come tow the car to his garage. What's the likelihood she'll see him again? Yet two days later he is sitting in her law office with her boss. She has some skeletons in her closet which eventually Alex finds out about and then goes about trying to protect Kylie. Alex has his own demons and it isn't until almost the end we find out what it is. When "John" is found and finally arrested and brought up on charges he brutalized Kylie, he finds someone in his law office to get him out on a million dollar bond. He comes hunting for Alex but finds Kylie instead. Alex finds both of them and when there's a scuffle... . I can't wait to read Book 2. It can only get more interesting.
I loved Kylie as a character right from the beginning of the novel. I also somewhat liked Alex and enjoyed the characters together. I did have a few issues with the novel like the fact that at the beginning of the book what brought Kylie and Alex together was never mentioned again even though it seemed like a larger part of Kylie as a character. I loved how secure Kylie was in her profession as well however it felt like she was always getting mad about Alex's reaction to it which I felt they never had a real conversation about. I did find the suspense portion of the novel thrilling and an important aspect of the novel, as well it did feel realistic in a frightening way. All in all I did really enjoy the novel and would read more by Anne.
I’d give this half a star if I could manage it!!! The writing 🚮🚮🚮🚮 the story line 🚮🚮🚮 the heroin has me wanting to pull my hair out…. What else… oh yes the hero, he tried but I could only take 40% of this! Is it so hard to find a good book anymore?? Christ!!! Tried about 40% of this shit show and all I can say is, that woman was not strong. She made questionable choices!!!! Everyone I expected to be intelligent just was not intelligent. No one thought it possible to involve the police? I can’t! I just can’t!!!! Don’t get me started on her and her self defense nonsense. She dint even carry a damn paper spray!!!! Am mad I wasted a few hrs on this. I want my few hours back! So not my cup of tea, this book!!!
WOW!! Anne L. Parks knows how to write angst that keeps you glued to pages till the very end. What happens when you have 2 damaged souls that are thrust in each others lives?, throw in a boatload of baggage and a psycho stalker ex-boyfriend and YES you have Of Demons & Stones... I was blown away with the storyline and when I finished...... I was left wanting MORE!!! Great beginning to an angst filled story!!!
**LISTENED ON AUDIBLE*** WAS REALLY ENJOYING IT!!! so looking forward to the next book but found out this series has been re edited and storylines changed so i guess I can't go on with this series. Good suspense and I really want to know what happens so i might come back to the the new edited one and restart this series
This was my first Anne L Parks read and I can say it will not be my last. I fell in love with Kylie and Alex, their story is full of complication, twists, turns and deceit but underneath it all; love. Their love is strong and can survive anything I cannot wait for book 2
The story had plenty of steam and great chemistry between Kylie who was a lawyer and Alex who was a wealthy CEO. Plenty of action as Kylie has a stalker and a pass ex who was abusive. Alex wanted to protect her and at time was smothering. Loved the story but it does end in a cliffhanger.
