Georgia Lyn Hunter:

Absolute Surrender is book one in the Fallen Guardians series by Georgia Lyn Hunter.

Aethan is an immortal guardian. He has lived for over three thousand years. Three thousand years of carrying a guilt that darkens his soul. Aethan’s purpose is to protect the innocent. He spends his nights patrolling the streets of New York, killing Demoniis.

 :

Echo Carter has only ever wanted to be normal. But life didn’t turn out like that for her. Echo has abilities that set her apart from others. Abilities she doesn’t want. Five years ago, Echo lost her best friend to a Demoniis. Ever since, she has made it her singular goal to hunt down and kill the one responsible for the death of her friend.

Absolute Surrender Georgia Lyn Hunter:

It is on such a night, when things got out of control, that she first met Aethan. He saved her and took her back to his castle, yes, he and two other guardians, Tyr and Blaez live in a huge castle.

castle:

The chemistry between these two is strong. They fight it at first. But eventually, it is discovered that Echo is the destined mate of Aethan. How could the fates be so cruel as to have his destined mate be a human?! You see, Aethan possesses great power, power he sometimes cannot control, especially during intimate times. So the ultimate act is not possible with Echo. He could kill her.

“Only with Echo had he experienced fear, and he knew she was his weakness. His destiny. His mate. The one person who mattered to him for the first time in over three thousand years and she could very well die by his hands.”

Keeping Echo safe becomes Aethan’s purpose in life. But this is not an easy task. Many seek her. The Demoniis are drawn to her. One in particular seeks her, believing she is part of a prophecy that will give him the power he seeks.

“I’m not good for you. But no matter how much I convince myself of it, I find I can’t give you up.”
“If you choose us, Echo, I have to warn you it’s not going to be easy.”

man holding woman:

This was a very interesting take on the angels and demons genre. Aethan is most definitely a very sexy specimen and Echo was the perfect match for him. She stood up to him, was the perfect balance to him. Even though I understood why she didn’t want to stay hidden at the castle, she aggravated me at times with the risks she continually took.

Along the way, secrets are revealed regarding Echo’s past and her destiny. Much of her destiny, though, depends on which path both she and Aethan choose. How can they bond when Aethan isn’t willing to risk her safety by completing the bond the only way possible, by having sex?

I Love You Animation

This is truly the fight of good versus evil, of the protectors fighting against the darkness. And in the midst of it all, two brought together by fate, fighting to find their way to each other. I loved the ending of this. It was perfect. I look forward to the little follow-up novella of Aethan and Echo’s story, book #1.5, Echo Mine.

“You haunt me. From the first moment I saw you, there was no looking back for me. You are mine, Echo. My heart. My soul. My destiny. And I will never give you up.”

This book was Abso-fucking-lutely stunning !! I got so lost in the world that Georgia created, i loved every minute of it and i didn't want it to end.

Echo was such a strong heroine!
She is Stubborn, feisty and sassy :D
She was seeking for revenge and didn't let anyone stop her From achieving her goal.

Aethan was one hell of an alpha-male and sooooo swoon-worthy .. He was so gentle with her, she stirred in him emotions he never knew exist. I fell for him along with Echo :D

"I don't like seeing you hurt."

Both of them Struggle with the emotions that awaken in them. Aethan knew that in a blink of an eye he could end Echo's life. And Echo was trying to run away from him with evry turn.

"I'm not good for you. But no matter how much i convince myself of it, i find i can't give you up."

The Romance was intense. The tension between Echo & Aethan was so high it was dripping from the pages!!

"The bed dipped and Aethan sat down, lifting her onto his lap. his arms wrapped around her, his warmth soothing her."

"The pleasure of holding his mate, the feel of her in his arms - gods, nothing compared to this. Ever."

Ohh and i just LOVED his jealousy scenes! He was so cute :P

"His growl reverberated through the room, startling her. He dragged her to him, and clamped his arm around her waist when she tried to break free. "I want you so damn much."

They have this all consuming love going on and i LOVED it :)

"Why me, Aethan?"
"You haunt me," he said simply.
"From the first moment I saw you, there was no looking back for me. You are mine, Echo. My heart. My soul. My destiny. And I will never give you up."

"For the first time in thousands of years, Aethan had found the one person who could fulfill him."

The Secondary characters added a lot to the plot and the humor .. Tyr, Blaéz, Dagan, Michael and Kira was Phenomenal.

In conclusion, the book was exactly what I needed :]

"She branded him with her very being, taking him out of his old skin, and made him whole again, imprinting herself in his heart. Mine. Only mine. The words drove through his head and settled in his soul. My female. My mate. Mine."

Updated for my re-read... Absolute Surrender is still my favorite of the series. And, Georgia Lyn Hunter is still my favorite Paranormal Author...

Absolutely Fantastic Read. If there were more stars to give I sure would! I was swept away from page one. Then, when I got to about half way through I started the book all over again. All because of a cat! I fell in love with this paranormal story from the beginning. It's never good to have a story you can't put down on a work night, but this was one of those for me. For me it had it all archangels, watchers, aliens, and demons.

Aethan: I usually list the heroine first, but for me this story was all about the Man! And, what a man Aethan is. Not one thing not to love about this alpha. Aethan is a true hunky all powerful alpha, fierce, brooding, and absolutely yummy. This author knows her Alpha Male Persona. He had so much sex appeal and swoon worthiness I was yearning for him.

Let me list just a few of his alpha lines:

"no matter her decision, he'd let her keep the illusion of choice, but he would never, ever let her go. MINE. The word seeped into his blood and embedded in his soul. "

“You don’t like me, do you?” He stalked her until her back hit the wall. Hands slapped down on either side of her head, locking her in. “Let’s see about that, shall we?"

“I am your mate. If you think for one moment I’m going to go through the whole fucking dance to claim you again, you are mistaken.”

Yes, I think Aethan has taken Bones', (Night Huntress), place in my hero fantasy heart.

Echo: A battered child grows up to be a fighter against evil. Echo is what we love in our warrior heroines. Our girl is a take no crap, slice and dice, and then ask questions later. Feisty, smartass, sweet, selfless, and so loyal to those she loves. Yes, a true heroine. Loved her character.

Sometimes authors put so much sex in their stories there's not any story to the story just sex. Sometimes there's not enough and the romance is boring. Well, this author did it to perfection. It felt like a suspense novel waiting for the main event. I was in great anticipation wondering what the mating consummation would be like. I will say this first time get together was like the fireworks us ladies all long for. What a climax scene, pun intended….LOL….

I would have enjoyed more detail when Echo was with Roth, but it didn't deter from my love of the story. At the end of the book I thought the epilogue felt more like an introduction to other books in the series to come, and I was expecting the happily ever after for my couple. Then I was relieved to find out there is a Fallen Guardian Echo, Mine 1.5 that gave me my happily ever after to perfection.

For me this story had all the intrigue of my favorite paranormal series The Night Huntress. And, is now right up there alongside it.

Can I just say it again, I loved this story, and this couple….. And oh how I would love it if this amazing author would come up with a series for this hot couple. A series called "The Healer of the Veils".

Awesome Read!

Audio re-read via Hoopla

Liked this one better on re-read. The things that bothered me before just did not bother me this time.

Prior Comments:
It dragged a bit, felt long at times with a ton of unnecessary and repetitive scenes, the hero pushed her away entirely too much. It was NOT a steamy book. Loads of tension and pushing away, but basically one sex scene very late in the book. It also ended strangely for me. I need more time for closure. Even with the added epilogue, that did not help.

Even though he pushed her way so much I wanted her to dump him, I still liked the hero. I also liked the heroine, until she verged on TSTL. When Deamonii are coming after you and if they get you it could end the world, you would think you could take a leave of absence from your personal trainer job. But the penultimate TSTL moment came at the end when she chose to go to the church. She lost me then.

Otherwise, the world building was incredible, the secondary characters were compelling and I definitely want to read something else from this author.

Wow, I'm really getting the hang of angel/devil-themed stories! And surely Aethan belongs to my list of paranormal/supernatural book boyfriends (up there with Aiden St. Delphi, Daemon Black, Dorian Skotos, Jared Ryel, Shane Maxton, etc.) as well!!!

Admittedly at first, I was quite confused with the third-person narration of the story but I easily got the hang of it just after a few pages. I understood the need for third-person narration because there are quite a lot of things going on in the story that wouldn't have been given justice had this been told through Aethan's and/or Echo's POVs only.

I love how the romance was perfectly balanced with the paranormal action as well. Yeah there were some angsty moments, but I'm glad that it didn't take up some unnecessary space in the story and were resolved at the right time as well. I also liked the characters right off the bat, especially the guardians: Aethan, Tyr, and Blaéz. I had some qualms with how easily Echo gave up on being a hardheaded and independent woman because of her intense attraction to Aethan, but I couldn't say I blame her given Aethan's angelic allure. And come on, the dude is one hell of an alpha-male angel anyway so yeah, I approve of their insta-love.

The build-up to Aethan and Echo's "mate-binding" was just right and it all the more made the actual scene so perfect. Aethan was just so super swoon-worthy when it comes to his devotion to his mate and his pain was just as tangible, especially during their brief break-up and the tragedy in the end. Thank heavens for their happy ever after!

"Why me, Aethan?"
"You haunt me," he said simply. "From the first moment I saw you, there was no looking back for me. You are mine, Echo. My heart. My soul. My destiny. And I will never give you up."

(P.S. Now that I think about it, the whole usage of "gods", Aethan's "me'morae" and "me'et'ah", and his silver eyes kind of remind me of Aiden St. Delphi from the Covenant Series. Not that I'm complaining, Aiden is my number 1 book boyfriend and Aethan is a close runner-up anyway.)

Now for the action. Honestly, I'm still confused with some of the details but I basically have a perfect understanding of what went down. Aside from the main prophecy, I was trumped with the revelation in the end wherein I discover how Aethan's and Echo's lives and destinies were actually intertwined in more ways than one.

All in all, this is a definite must-read for paranormal romance junkies! I'm feeling a Tyr and Kira (and maybe some Blaéz?) story for the next book. Looking forward to it!

Sensualità: tensione sessuale e scene hot presenti
Caratteristiche: paranormal romance, mitologia angeli-demoni, emozionante
Stile narrativo: scorrevole e coinvolgente
Tipo di finale: conclusivo

It took me a week to get through this book. Not that it's bad, it's just when you put it down, it's very hard to get back into.

First of all, kudos to the author for trying something different with an angel/demon story.
There were a lot of things I liked about it. I loved the mythology.
Loved Aethan. I can't tell you much about him because I would spoil the book, but basically he's from a race of mutant angels. I think?
The other guardians - Blaez and Tyr, Michael and yeah, even Dagan - all great characters and I loved them. You could feel the brotherly love between them, they act like a small family.

Echo annoyed me with her insecurities and just being a major PITA for the majority of the story.
Aethan tells her he wants her, and she just doesn't hear it. I swear, I constantly wanted to smack her on the head. Nothing she did in this book made much sense to me, she was so irrational and hot-headed it couldn't make for a likable female character.
And for the most part, her character was inconsistent.
I just sort of ignored her.

But Kira kicked ass. I loved Kira.

It's major insta-love between these two - but then again, there's the whole concept of them being so I guess it worked.

The truth is, it's the writing that put me off majorly in this book. Sentence after sentence, the author uses the same pattern over and over again. It started to grate on my nerves by the end.

There are a lot of POV characters. Some (Lazaar and Lila, Dagan) only get a few sentences, others get more (Andras, Tyr), and most are reserved for Aethan and Echo.
I cannot begin to explain how much I disliked this. It felt like the author introduces a character and then you get a few sentences from their POV. It's just so you know what's going on on the other side, too. Makes you wonder how authors ever manage to tell a single POV story.

There is some major overuse of words mate, female and male. Oh and claiming. I just wished anyone would claim her already.
Another thing, I understood why Aethan would go on and on about mate, mate, mate, but all of a sudden she starts doing it too.

And then you get the last ten percent of the story, and it's all very rushed. The story is really on the long-ish side, and I wished I had gotten a proper ending, not just hastily tied loose ends (and not all of them, either!)

All of this being said, I loved the world Ms Hunter created. I always appreciate when authors take a recycled story and make something new out of it.

There are a couple of mildly graphic sex scenes, for those who like to know these things upfront.

Will I be reading the next book in the series? Most probably. There's a character mentioned once or twice in this book that I read should be the main character of the next one, and I was really curious about him (though I was also hoping for a Blaez/Kira story.)
So yeah, I'd recommend it, just don't put everything else on hold to read it.

Oh, and look at that gorgeous cover! So pretty.

Wooooooooooh!

Definitely going to be reading the rest of the series! I can't wait to see who gets paired up with who but I'm thinking Tyr and Kira for the next one.
Can't wait to see who gets paired with Blaez or Dagan. Does Michael get someone?
I liked Damon too, but Echo got a bit worked up over nothing. So what if he was immortal and didn't tell her? Now we'll never see him again!

NEXT BOOK! NEXT BOOK! NEXT BOOK!

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

This is a new revised version and now has an added epilogue.

From the moment they met, she knocks him for a loop, changes the very foundation of all that he is. As a Guardian, Aethan’s first duty is to protect mortals from supernatural evil that trawls the streets for humans, but the feisty female is determined to avenge her friend’s death by hunting down the demonii responsible. This puts her directly in the path of the very thing she hunts then she discovers the horrifying truth about herself and is forced to turn to Aethan.

But when two stubborn wills collide, a dangerous passion ignites…Aethan knows to love her will bring his darkest fear to life… The journey to their HEA is not a smooth path. And its certainly not easy for Echo to open herself up with her past hurts with a male as hard as Aethan.

Hedori sums it up brilliantly: "That was... quite an experience."
To say more would give away crucial parts of the plot. My hero, I must say is one hardheaded immortal, but Echo’s no timid heroine, she refuses to put up with crap.

Thank you all in advance for reading Absolute Surrender. Hope you enjoy AS as much as I did writing it :)

I thoroughly enjoyed Absolute Surrender. Aethan and Echo meet one night while hunting demonii and are immediately attracted to each other. There are a few obstacles. He's a 3000 year old immortal with a dark past and she's a 23 year old human with a few secrets. The coming together of an immortal and a human isn't a good idea, as it could be hazardous for the human. But we all know you can't help who you fall in love with.

Their motivation to seek out demonii and kill them brings them together and puts a wedge between them. It's Aethan's job but Echo is out for revenge against the one demon who killed her best friend five years earlier.

I don't want to give too much away but as the story unfolds and secrets are revealed we are drawn into a thrilling world of demons, angels and immortals. Is Echo really who she seems? Can Athean protect Echo from the ones who want her dead?

Ms. Hunter has written an action packed and sexy paranormal romance/thriller. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

2.5 overall. There's some potential goodness here - lots of secondary manly men to feature in a series, Hunter *can* write smex, some mythology different enough from the standard to run with. But. This story has some challenges - to much description of thoughts/feelings (repetitive) vs. just utlizing dialogue to get a point more quickly and powerfully across. Both the H and h were often over the top with their internal "I'm not worthy" and it became tedious to the point of getting antsy that the actual sex didn't happen until 80% / Kindle. And too many sudden third level characters out of nowhere. Still all secondary and third level characters all manly alphas so I remain intrigued. When I started the story, thought "BDB" but nope, much more along lines of LOTU (go Gina S!- series I adore).

Amazing world created by Georgia Lyn Hunter with Angels and Demons. A love that was destined to soar no matter the dangers that lurked around. Aethan described with loads of sex appeal but a heart that ached so bad. Echo a brave; sassy lady that will give her heart to no other than Aethan. Aethan and Echo's heart is what bound them together, against all odds and no matter the hurt and pain inflicted on them both, nothing and no-one could destroy what the heart felt.
Well done to a phenomnal writer. No doubt the next book will be absolutely amazing, a page turner, difficult to put down.

I love this book! The tension between Echo & Aethan is high. Both so wanting the other so badly and fighting it that his destructive white power plus the demonii are minimal in comparison. You want to reach into their world and slap them both - but their conflict is so real, just like life, you can relate to them. Highly recommend this book. Georgia Lyn Hunter makes worlds collide - you better hold on tight!

All’improvviso, ne fu sollevato.

I highly recommend Absolute Surrender!!

Georgia Lyn Hunter has created a series of complex and fascinating realms. From earth, to Empyrea, to the darkest, sulfur regions of hell. So intrigued with this novel, I couldn't put it down. The raging melee sequences between the demonii and the Guardians are thrilling, fast paced, and on the edge of your seat reading.

Georgia Lyn has a superb talent for penning pure sexual tension, and eventually evolving into heated passion.

Absolute Surrender: An Empyrean Prince is banished from their realm and joins the Guardian's on earth to protect humans from the demonii. A prophecy is unfolding and the Guardian's must find this physic healer before the powers of hell prevail.

Aethan, six foot, seven inches tall, adorned with inexorable strength, ropy muscle, and is one steely, gorgeous Prince. What's not to love about this half-angel, immortal-man from Empyrea?

Echo is a human who has psychic powers, and is able to see demonitii. She is hell bent on destroying the demonitii who murdered her friend. Aethan catches Echo in the act of killing a demonitti and is bizarrely attracted to the young woman. Not to put in spoilers, but there is more to Echo that will be unveiled, astonishing everyone.

This was a beautiful story. This author has a way of writing that makes the words flow so easily. The romantic side of it wasn't over done, and there was plenty of action to keep me hooked.

Pros: This world the author created was captivating. She has an excellent imagination. The intimate scenes were also well put together - nothing was ever repeated. I found, by the end of the book, that I had such a crush on Aethan and laughed many times at the things Echo said. I love a witty main character. All the characters had their own personality, which was such a plus.

Cons: There was a few misspelled words, but not many. It was hardly noticeable. There was times when Echo's personality became mushy-gushy. It drives me nuts when the female lead falls head over heels for the guy and loses that witty/independent/self-driving attitude. There was times when the male lead lost his bad-boy personality as well. There was a few corny moments where I found myself rolling my eyes and there was moments where their thoughts were repeated, dragged on, or unnecessary - a few times I put the book down because it was a turn off.

But other than that, I would recommend this book. It's not a kind of story I would normally pick for myself, and if it wasn't recommend by a friend, I probably would have never gave it a second glance. Glad I did!

This is the first book in a most intriguing PNR of good versus evil! Aethan is an Immortal Guardian, protecting the humans from the demonic evil. He encounters Echo, who has a somewhat checkered past, and their lives are entwined in ways that no one saw coming. The romance was a slow burn, with too much at stake for them, but the plot and the story line was original and creatively written. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Guardians and can't wait to read the others' stories!

This was a very difficult book to rate this book. This is a 3 star, with a broken heart. I could have been a 5 star.
It has almost all the things I like: love, angels, demons, a tortured hunk and many other too. It sound a bit like Gena Showalter Lost of Underworlds.
There were many things I liked about it. The intenseness of the hero, something like a mutant god or a VIP from a special mutant race, Aethan (by the way, Aethan is a horse in greek mythology and that annoyed me a bit but I though him as Ethan) and the other guardians, Tyr, Dagan, Blaez, etc... are very well described. I love a book full of hunks. They are kind of brotherhood unit by un unexplained reason.
Then we have Echo, the heroine. She is too naive, too focus on a revenge, she doesn't have a goal in life besides killing the ones that killed her friend. And still this is not enough. Nothing she did make much sense to me, she was irrational and hot-headed... And for the most part, her character was inconsistent. I couldn't connect well with her. But that's passable.
There are a lot of other characters. Some are well in the story, but some could just be left out. But that was okay too.
BUT
The story is long (nothing wrong about that, I love huge books and trilogies) but it takes some time to grip you. And for me the major problem was: When it gets really good, when you finally have the two leading characters together and things are in that way that you don't want to close the book until it finish... It finish. The end is rushed - too rushed - in a way that lost all the magic; it leaves many loose ends and unexplained - or mis-explained - points that should and could be more developed. It needs a better - may the the word is longer - ending.
There is one or two sex scenes but they are not involving. It's missing the explosive feelings between the leading characters that expected almost 85%of the book to get together.
To sum it up, this is a good book, with a bit need of improvement and I hope her next books will be better. It's was a mild start, but I could feel that it could be a great. It has all the ingredients to be a wonderful series.

I thank the author for the book and I want to let her know that I'll be following her next works, because there is lots of magic that just need a bit of lapidarian.
P.S. - The daughter of the writer did the cover, which I loved by the way!Congrats.

Recensione di Giuls per il blog Le Lettrici Impertinenti
https://lettriciimpertinenti.blogspot...

Georgia Lyn Hunter’s paranormal romance Absolute Surrender is awesome! After being banished from his world Aethan was sent to earth and made a warrior to defend humans from demonii. He encounters Echo just after she kills one of these demonii and it’s on from there.

The book has so much depth and so many layers that I want to start a book club to discuss it. I enjoyed the heated romance between Echo and Aethan which sizzled in the beginning and eventually burned white hot (he he he- read the book to understand my mirth). Their relationship was strong, if not rocky. But as with all good romances, the HEA ending made me sigh.

Georgia’s writing style is very descriptive. She is able to set the worlds she has created in your mind’s eye. I wish I could say I enjoyed travelling to hell, but no I did not, as was her intention. The fight scenes were fantastic. I’m a fight scene affectionado and hers were smooth. And when the sword came from… sorry no spoilers here, but it was so cool.

The conversations were witty and engaging, making me chuckle at points. The fact that these huge tough warriors also had a sweet tooth made me laugh.

I absolutely love a strong female heroine and Echo did not disappoint. She had a bad upbringing, but was able to fight instead of giving into the harshness of life. I liked that. One thing I didn’t like about her was that she didn’t always make the best decisions. That annoyed me, but not enough to stay angry with her for too long. I know the story needed the drama of her bad judgment, and this got me further into the book.

Georgia should not keep me waiting for a sequel. I fell in love with all of the warriors and want to read each of their stories, like yesterday.

If you want a book full of action, romance up to your elbows, with some fantastic descriptive writing, then Absolute Surrender is for you.

This was my first book by Georgia Lyn Hunter and it will definitely not be my last. I loved how she wrote a damaged, stubborn hero and gave him a strong heroine to match him. “Absolute Surrender” is a story that is about immortal guardians fighting demoniis (demons). This story focuses on Aethan, who is a guardian that has been banished from his homeworld, sent to Earth to protect humans from the demoniis, and finds himself drawn to Echo, a psychic human, that throws his world upside down. Echo is headstrong and makes rash decisions when it comes to defending her friends and family and wanting revenge for her friend who was killed. This is not always a good thing. Throughout the story Aethan and Echo fight their attraction for one anther and fight the demoniis that are looking for Echo. This story also has other immortal guardians in it, which I loved, like Blaez, Tyr, Dagan, and even the archangel Michael. I loved Kira, Echo's friend. I look forward to reading more about the other guardians and I hope to see Tyr and Kira together…

Overall I loved the book and the fight scenes. I did have an issue with how Echo seemed to be a little headstrong when it came to making rash decisions but I don't think it undermined the story, although it was a little tiring at times; and I liked how Ms Hunter made her human with her insecurities towards Aethan. I would definitely recommend this story to others, you won't be disappointed. I love the world that Ms Hunter has created with angels and demons. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I received this book from the author and received no compensation for my review.
