When I started reading this book I didn’t expect to fall in love with it early on. It captivates me how the story of Dax and Giselle unfolds. It was told from past to present, back and forth, but you won’t get lost reading it because it was flawlessly written.

Dax is the drummer of the famous band, Epic Fail. He’s swoon worthy, I tell you. He’s one cool dude to hang around with. Romantic. Understanding. Sensitive. Lovable.

“Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t even come close.” – Giselle

Giselle Andrews is a woman you want to be your friend. She’s fun; loving and you can really depend on her when the going gets tough.

“Sated. Seductive. Innocent. All blended together in a look that brings me to my knees.” – Dax

First meeting… when they were young, when Dax found Giselle puking and being a gentleman then, took off his shirt and help her by wipe some mess. Second meeting… summer vacation (teen years), when Dax was doing some photoshoot with his band and Giselle was there watching from afar. Present… when Giselle saved Dax from one bad storm and let him in her car. From then on Dax can’t get Giselle off his mind, he just can’t figure out what’s so familiar with this woman.

It is a beautiful love story of two people who never knew how intertwined their life is from the start. If you believe in serendipity or kismet? Like me, well this book is for you and promise, you will love every minute reading this story.

Trudy Stiles is a new author for me and I cannot wait to read more of her books, because I know it’s worth it!!!

Note: I won this ARC from #ShhSummerBuzzBooks. Thank you Author Trudy Stiles, SueBee, Alessandra Torre & AnL. And that my friends, is my honest review of this beautiful book!!!

3.5 Fateful stars.

Giselle and Dax meet under some pretty crazy circumstances. As soon as they meet there is an automatic connection in which they do not understand.

But then the world keeps putting them in the same place at the same time.

They have some hot chemistry together.

NOTE- Although Dax is the drummer for Epic Fail, the band plays a minor role in the overall storyline.

4 stars!

I love Trudy Stiles. She always has a way of pulling at my heart strings and making me love her characters. This book was no different.

Dax is a rocker. I have to admit rockers make me nervous. He was pretty sweet as rockers go though. Nothing too crazy. He was sexy and a bit swoon-worthy.

Giselle is a girl with a haunted past. However she doesn't let it define her. She's making her own way in life along with her crazy best friend.

A chance encounter puts Dax in Giselle's life and then begins the game of hot and cold on both of their ends.

I think my biggest issue with this one is that I thought it was a bit predictable. I guessed the main plot from the beginning and I just waited for something "more" to happen. The author is very upfront that this is different from her other works, and while it is I still got emotional a few times.

I think fans of Trudy will still eat this one up. It was't as high on angst as her past works so if that is what was holding you back then jump on this one.

description

"She's completely stunning, and she has absolutely no idea how amazingly beautiful she is."

Epic Lies is about Dax and Giselle who both have been lied to and hurt in their past. First of all I want to mention that I absolutely loved how they met because it was so different. Dax is not your typical rockstar and that is what I loved most about him. Because of his past he did have a thing against relationships but that didn't result him turning into a player. He was very mature, protective and fun. Just like Dax, Giselle had a distrust towards the opposite gender. When they first meet they both feel attracted to each other. They accidentally meet again a couple of times in other places and it was like they were meant to be.

Normally I don't like flashbacks but they fit perfectly in this book. We get present and past POV from both characters. So we get to see what happened in their past. There is also a twist in this book that I really liked. What I most liked about this book was the maturity of both characters and how they didn't push the other away even if they were done wrong in their past. I enjoyed seeing how their relationship developed and how they got over their own issues.

Epic Lies is a fast paced story with great characters that were perfect for each other. It is a great addition to the Epic Fail series and I can't wait to read the next book. I also loved Giselle's best friend Mia because she was such a fun and crazy character. She needs her own story!

FATE. Let's start right there. I'm a huge believer in fate and things happening for a reason which is probably why I love Trudy Stiles books so very much. Dax and Giselle meet in quite an unusual way, which is good for Dax (no spoiler here, you'll have to read to find out why it's good!)

Dax is a rockstar but he is down to earth. He is not one of those full-of-himself-sex-drugs-and-rock-and-roll guys. Dax is straight forward and honest with pretty much everything he does. At the same time he is sweet and funny.

"People are screaming his name, trying to get as close to him as possible. And he asked me to stay so he could see me after the show. I smile, and my pulse quickens. What could possibly come of this?"

Giselle is a good girl, guarded in her life. She questions things a lot, especially when it comes to Dax's interest in her...

"But - I'm so drawn to her, mesmerized by her innocence, and beauty. Everything about her relaxes me..."

They just can't stay away form each other, yet they push one another away as well. The connections between Dax and Giselle are strong, though hidden at first. It was like unwrapping a present just a little bit at a time and the screaming when I figured it out!

Wise words from Alex (Trudy fans will know who Alex is!!)

"The two of you have somehow found yourselves together in more than one unlikely situation. Stop trying to figure everything out and just embrace it, dude."

But things can't always go smoothly. Can they overcome their present once they learn about their pasts?

"No one deserves to own my tears anymore."

Another 5 star installment to the Epic Fail Series!!!

Epic Lies is a wonderful and heartfelt story between Dax Anderson and Giselle Andrews. I am sure you have read the blurb by now and surely you must be intrigued!!
Let me introduce Dax to you. He is the drummer for one of the most famous rock bands~Epic Fail. He is not the usual rock star that I am sure you are thinking about. You may be thinking, oh, he is one of those guys. Dax is completely different than your usual cocky rock star. He is compassionate, romantic even, and he can not stand to be lied to. He is not into the casual hook up scene. He is exactly what every woman hopes to find in a companion. We meet him as a teenager, when him and his buddies are still playing music in their garage. We see him fall in love for the first time. It all brings back memories of my own young love.

Giselle~ we meet her as a teenager as well. She is fun, loving and so open in the beginning. She has wonderful parents who are there and support her through anything she needs. She is your typical teenager. What young girl doesn't dream of meeting the "one" and falling in love? Well Giselle is no different but her story is a painful one at times. I will not spoil it for you. You really must read her story to understand how much pain this girl has went through and still stands firm, and still looks for love, despite all of her past experiences with it.

This story is told in alternating past and present about Dax and Giselle. It is a story about Fate, Love, second chances or encounters. It is one of those uplifting books that you find yourself craving because you really want to get to the end, but you don't want to say goodbye to these very special characters. We have all experienced the subjects brought forth in this Epic tale. I have personally lost a loved one and I have also experienced the pain of my heart breaking from lies, and cheating. I could relate to both Dax and Giselle in so many ways. There was times I was holding my breath because I just thought for sure I knew where Trudy was going to lead me with this, but I was not always right.
Read this for yourself and feel how wonderful it is to find love and honesty with another person. It was truly refreshing!!

These are some of my favorite quotes from the book--
DAX~ I'm so drawn to her, mesmerized by her innocence and beauty. Everything about her relaxes me, despite how I acted last night. Her eyes have an amazing, calming effect that seem to see deep into my soul. Almost like she already knows everything about me, the good and the bad. She has forgiving eyes.

GISELLE~ I haven't ever had any luck finding the right guy and actually keeping him. Then, you literally fell inot my life. You scared me. Intrigued me. I was drawn to you.

When Trudy asked me to read Epic Lies I freaked out naturally! I couldn't wait to read Dax's story! And man did I fall in love with not only him but Lara & Giselle also!

The prologue alone had tears leaking from my eyes and I don't cry. It takes ALOT for me to cry, but the way Trudy kicks this story off sucked me in immediately. Her words were heart crushing and I was sucker punched right in the gut.

This is a story of how fate and destiny are inevitable. Some people are meant to be and no matter what life throws at you, you WILL find that person! Giselle and Dax have a connection they never even knew and they help each other heal in the same way. They are proof that love heals, conquers and prevails.

Get ready for a whole new side to Trudy Stile's writing! You get to "be in on" all of her secrets and actually LIVE it with her beautiful characters this time around. She takes you on Giselle and Dax's journey and you as the reader gets to travel it along with them.

It's very different from every other story in the fact that there aren't any "surprises". You're going to be able to feel exactly how Giselle and Dax feel as their relationship and lives play out. And I enjoyed that immensely!

What I also appreciate about Epic Lies was the awareness of a very serious subject, rape. This, especially with what's going on in the news right now, sheds light on how rape affects a woman and how they are able to live their lives after such an ordeal. I applaud Trudy for being so brave in allowing this topic to be in such a fantastic book. It not only adds to the story and shapes Giselle, but Trudy manages to show you "real life" feelings and thoughts because of Giselle's rape. So thank you for bringing this topic to light. I adore you for this! And make sure you read the Note to Readers! Its Important!!!!!

I flew through Epic Lies! Its a great read and had a bit of everything you want in a book! Trudy's words as always are wonderfully strung together to create a beautiful story that you will love! Give it a go and meet Dax & Giselle! You're going to LOVE their life! Excellent job Trudy! Proud of you girl!

Dax Anderson and Giselle Andrews. Who are they to each other? What is their connection? Those are the questions that I found myself asking as I was reading Epic Lies. Epic Lies is a new adult/contemporary romance, and the most recent release from author Trudy Stiles. It’s also the second novel of the Epic Fail series – a series of novels which focus on each member of the rock band Epic Fail. This time around, Stiles writes about drummer Dax Anderson.

Epic Lies is a romance novel about two characters who have been deeply hurt by lies in their past. Lies told by their loved ones. Lies from the very people who they thought they could trust. Whether outright lies or lies by omission, the result is the same. It becomes very hard to trust and give love freely. This lack of trust becomes a major obstacle to future relationships for Dax and Giselle. Can they possibly learn to trust each other? Will they open their hearts to love once again?

Stiles has a very interesting style of writing in Epic Lies. By chapter, she alternates Dax and Giselle’s first person points of view, while also alternating between writing chapters in the past and present. Fate is a huge theme in Epic Lies. Throughout this story, I noticed coincidences, possible connections between Dax and Giselle which kept me guessing and gave Epic Lies the feel of a mystery. By using this style of writing, Stiles reveals events in their pasts – what shaped Dax and Giselle as individuals – while also allowing readers the pleasure of enjoying their budding romance in the present.

Since the beginning of her writing career, I’ve read each novel written by Trudy Stiles. Each story is completely unique, and she doesn’t shy away from difficult topics. In Epic Lies this topic is rape. I’m sharing this with readers because I know rape can be an emotional trigger. There are parts of this story that were painfully hard for me to read, but I also found a large measure of joy, happiness and satisfaction from reading Epic Lies. Epic Lies is dramatic, and I can promise it will take you on a non-stop roller coaster ride of emotions!

Although the Epic Fail series is a spinoff of Stiles' Forever Family series, Epic Lies can be read as a standalone novel. It’s also not necessary to read Epic Sins, the first novel in the Epic Fail series, prior to reading Epic Lies. If you have never read a novel by Trudy Stiles, I highly recommend that you give one of her two standalone novels – Epic Sins or Epic Lies – a try! Dax and Giselle’s story was a pleasure to read, and I’m excited to give this novel a 4.5 star rating!

All Truths, No Lies.

In a continuation of this five star series for me (Forever Family & Epic Fail),Trudy Stiles has added another winner. As a believer in signs myself, this book is by far my favorite in the series and Dax has immediately been added to the book boyfriend list. Pretty close to the top I may add, what a guy!

"I’ve given my heart to only a few people in my life, and every single time it gets destroyed, pieces of it torn out and devoured." ~ Dax

Rarely does a romance book feature a sensitive male character lead. Sure there's the second chance romance guy or the manwhore turned one woman guy, but Dax Anderson was genuine from the start. As a teenager he loved with his whole heart and continued to do so into his twenties, however much to his dismay by then.

Sadly, Giselle is in the same romance boat as Dax. After a few failed relationships and a traumatizing event, she isn't the most trusting gal in the world. Even a guy with good intentions is gonna have to work hard for her affection. Then fate stepped in and I instantly fell in love with these characters and their story.

"I’m struggling with what you mean to me. I know we’ve only known each other for a short time, but I feel like I’ve known you my whole life.” ~ Dax

It may have only been a few weeks, but their story is so much more than that. The truths and lies between this couple are amazing and would tear some apart, however these two are fighting against the odds to see it through.

"We’re supposed to be. I feel it in my bones. In my heart,” ~ Dax

Gah this guy was killing me with his kindness and reasonable thinking. He was a huge breath of fresh air from the last few leading characters I've encountered. Not to say I don't like alpha male, but every so often I need to cleanse the ol' pallet with a genuine romance like this.

“The first thing that came to mind when you told me about your connection to Dax is this is FATE working. Do you hear me? FATE.” ~ Mia

Along with Giselle's best friend Mia, in pure Trudy Stiles fashion we have an extended cast of characters to bring the story full circle. Including all members of Epic Fail. The book is well written from dual points of view, traveling from past to present as well. While Epic Lies can be read as a standalone, I like knowing the backstory of the band members and even the Forever Family series references are fun to pick out or remember. Tristain should be up next, as he was nothing but a mystery this time around.

Favorite Quotes:

My name floats from his mouth, and I'm hypnotized. I don't think I've ever heard my name spoken with such masculine softness, if that is even a thing?

Something happened the day you saved my life... I knew something was about to change... I knew you changed my history. My existence. I've been fighting my feelings for a few weeks. I'm struggling with what you mean to me. I know we've only known each other for a short time, but I feel like I've known you my whole life.

Yea, you've dated a lot of assholes and some real losers, but you always find the one redeeming thing in those people and build on it. Even if one of them collected Star Wars figurines well into his twenties.

Your father scares me... He may seem nice and sweet to you, but I can't shake the feeling that he will kill me slowly and painfully if I ever hurt you.

My Review:

Kismet, serendipity, fate, karma, destiny, the stars in alignment, when it is meant to be it is meant to be... all cultures have some form of this ideology. And today, I am exceedingly pleased that Trudy Stiles follows this tenet as well. Epic Lies was my first official outing with Ms Stiles and I am putting myself in nomination to be her biggest fangirl and newest cheerleader. I immediately added her entire Goodreads listing to my TBR the second I finished reading as I clearly savored this book from beginning to end.

Written in my favorite form of dual POV, the storyline weaved back in forth over a decade while chronicling the hidden and forgotten connections, missed opportunities, and coincidental links in the characters' histories. The writing was thoughtful, insightful, emotive, easy to follow, steamy, and engaging. The characters were well fleshed out, highly likable, smart, somewhat damaged, yet still sweet, fun, endearing and quirky. For some reason, I took great delight in the scenes depicting Giselle's less appealing trait of haphazard snobbishness. The story found a good balance of angst and happiness, as despite the undercurrent and reoccurring theme of misplaced trust and betrayals experienced the main characters as they make their way toward each other, the contentment, shelter, and respite they found in being together overshadowed all their prior misfortunes. Sigh, this old cougar just loves the sweet and steamy - more please!

"I want to die"
Trudy Stiles has outdone herself with Epic Lies. it's everything you would expect, just done in a different way. the dark, and sad times, are out weighed by bursts of LOVE!!
Dax and Giselle come together in such a whirlwind that it can only be FATE. they have no more trust to give out. both guarded, and both unprepared for the storm that brings them together.

I ADORED THIS BOOK! I had no idea what this book was about when I started reading it and once I started I did not put it down until I had finished it. It was beautiful, the two main characters in this book Dax & Giselle were sensational, I literally fell in love with everything that made them who they were and the connections in this book were so heartwarming. Thank you Trudy for a truly wonderful story.

Do you ever think sometimes fate and destiny bring your life full circle? People we meet along the way, weather we know them or not could be the ones to save us. How do you move on when all you have ever known is hurt and lies? These were just a few of the questions that this book will have you asking.

The prologue sucked me in. I was left heartbroken just like the characters. The tissues were out and I felt sick to my stomach I knew immediately that after that there was no chance of sleep this was a book that I was going to devour and boy was I right.

Dax is a rockstar, but after loosing his first love and all the lies that surrounded that he had built a wall around his heart. Dax is sensitive and not your typical rocker. He gave his heart away years ago and all that is left is broken.

Giselle lost her cousin/best friend many years ago, but on that night she also lost something else, something she will never get back. Living her life now is always an uphill struggle. She doesn't do relationships, she has tried but they always end up in heartbreak.

When Giselle sees a man hiding out in a storm she does what any compassionate person would she offers him shelter and when they are in close proximity there is a chemistry that neither of them expected. There is recognition but that isn't possible. They both spend time thinking of the other and over a period of time they find themselves thrown together again and again.

With Dax taking some much needed R&R, he is shocked to find Giselle taking a break at the same place. Why is this woman continuously thrown in his path. One night they end up kissing and the spark ignites a flame...however Dax is quick to pull back and push her away. He knows he wants her but he also believes he is no good for her. Thinking he could be making the biggest mistake of his life he talks to Giselle again and this is where truths start to be told their past becomes their present and their connection finally comes to light.

This couple met years ago and fate seems to be stepping in and making them each others destiny!!!

Epic Lies

Trudy Stiles will forever be my favourite author, and this book its definitely one of my favourite reads of the year.
Let me just start saying DAX is mine. only. mine.

Now one thing I love about Trudy is the fact that she always get emotions out of me, this one gave me hope. I have being wondering when will I find one my famous soulmate, when will I be able to show my family that special someone, when will I say I love you and get an I love you back. All the question that might be typical for a young adult begging the 20’s adulating life.
But she always push my worries out, this book really gave me hope that my one love will come, that it can take time, but if its meant to be it will find it ways to me. Fate is something that even if it comes late it will come and I have mine waaaay up now.

Gabrielle and Dax story was one beautiful story, I laughed and I cried with it, I fall in love with them and got annoyed with them too. They found their way toward each other and the story that you will read of this two will make you go aww in no time.
She touches topics that will touch your heart from lost of a love one to rape, how sad things DO happen but eventually you will get out of it, how you have to fight for you and stand up for you if something was wrong or if something went wrong.
I also love when an I get a POV of the past without making me feel tired of it, getting to read this two characters past was also amazing, to understand someone you have to know their past and I could get be more connected to this two than by reading their past.

In conclusion this book was beautiful, I read it twice and I can not wait until you all can get your hands on this books, read it and live it, have an open mind and fall in love with both them.
Again, DAX is mine but you can love him for a while!

Epic Lies is one of those books that yo u immediately love. It sucked me in from the beginning, just like all of Trudy's books. If you haven't read Epic Fail or the Forever Family series, please go and one click them now, because you are missing out! This can be read as a standalone, but the other books are so good, don't miss out!

Dax Anderson is the drummer for the band Epic Fail. You see him in some other books, but really get to know him in this book. He is not your typical rock star. I love that you see Dax in the past and the present. He has had some tough breaks in life and there are times I was heartbroken for his circumstances.

Giselle Andrews is a spunky, fun, character that seems to be able to overcome any obstacle or situation that life throws at her. I was drawn to her immediately and loved reading from her point of view. Both Dax and Giselle have had bad relationships and been mistreated and used so trust does not come easy for either one of them.

I loved the way that these characters were introduced to each other. I also loved the flash backs. It was interesting for the reader to figure out exactly what was occurring before the characters had put the pieces together. Was it predictable? Yes, but it was extremely well written and I think that it does not take away from the story in the least. As always, in our reviews, "all truth, no lies": Get this book today! You won't be disappointed!

Epic Lies is just another masterpiece by Trudy Stiles. As many have said - "it's so different from what we normally get from Trudy" but that's not a bad thing!! The prologue broke me...literally made me fall to pieces, but in true Trudy fashion, she put me back together.

Dax and Giselle were destined to meet, their lives intertwined in so many ways. With each new revelation between them I was sucked further and further into their lives and them into my heart. Their lives guided by another force, the force to bring them together, in good and bad times.

Their lives were so different, yet so alike. They both are so cynical when it comes to love and when they meet it's like a new fire it lit in each of them. There is no forced or insta love, but genuine "like" and attraction for each other, regardless of how hard they try to fight it.
Trudy tackles a few issue in this book that could enlighten many to these common, unfortunately, every day occurrences. She faces them head on as they should be, with serious concern and tact. They may be hard situations to face but they have lifelong consequences. Trudy once again can take a hard topic and write beautiful words to help us understand the feeling and after effects with grace and beauty when there is not any to be outwardly seen.

Another beautiful book by Trudy. It states that it's a stand alone, but I believe that reading Epic Sins first, gives you a set up to who Dax is and sheds light on him.

Epic Lies is the second book in the Epic Fail series. This series follows the members of a band and in true Trudy fashion, she packs a punch from the very first page. This story follows band member Dax Anderson. One rainy day, fate steps in and he meets Giselle Andrews. She saved his life and while he is finding a way to repay her, he begins to realize she might have saved his live in more ways than he wants to admit. When they try to run and hide from their feelings, fate has other plans for them. I love the direction that Trudy took this book and am so glad she decided to write something a little different. I am definitely an Epic Fail groupie and can't wait to see what journey we go on next with Epic Love.

I'm loving the Epic Fail series so very much. Dax and Giselle's story is not different. I loved the way in which they met and kept meeting. I loved knowing before they did how they were connected although I did have some anxiety over it. I loved seeing the story of Alex's best friend. Seeing him finally have his love story told. The conclusion of Dax and Giselle's story was beautiful and perfect for them both. I'm anxious to see what's next with the boys.

Epic Lies is an emotional story of truth, lies and secrets,  connections and missed connections but ultimately fate and true love.

"I would have found you in a sea of a million people."

I love the way the story was told through the present with glimpses into the past.  We are given all the facts along with clues to trace Dax and Giselle's story. Where their paths cross and where they each go their way.

ALL TRUTHS, NO LIES

Trudy Stiles, thank you for giving me, easily, one of my top 10 reads of the year so far. This was my first read by Trudy and I will definitely be going back and reading every other book she’s written and will be writing in the future.

HOLY FATE!!! I have never had to stop after the prologue of a book to make a note for myself or immediately update my Goodreads status. I was immediately hooked. It usually takes at least a quarter, sometimes half the book for me to fall in love with the characters. With this book, that was not the case. I was instantly invested in both of their feelings and thoughts.

I absolutely fell in love with the main characters in this story. Giselle and Dax’s chemistry was flawless and with every interaction they had, they made me want more. It was awesome to watch two people who have been manipulated, lied to, and torn to pieces, in the past, be able to help restore faith and trust, but more importantly restore love in each other.

Giselle handles every situation with strength and power. I was very glad that she was a strong female character and didn’t let extremely trying things bring her down. Her reactions were very relatable, as I would react the same way in some of those situations. Because of this, I was able to connect much better with her. Not to mention, I’ve been sunburned just like her before.

And then there’s Dax. Dax was…. I don’t even have the words. Dax was EVERYTHING! He was swoony, loving, down to earth, and overall a great guy. (Definitely not your typical rock star.) Dax is everything any woman wants in a relationship. Yes, he has baggage that comes up but don’t we all?

I have never read a book that had flashbacks and alternating POVs like this before. The flashbacks added so much more to the story and I was delighted to see so much backstory. It was exciting to see things happen just as the characters did. It made the situations that much more real and allowed me to connect much stronger to the feelings they felt and why they did what they did.

This book is easily one of my favorite books of the year so far. I have always been a strong believer in fate and that without complete truth, no strong relationship can be built. It was an amazing summer read.

P.S. Make sure you read the note to readers at the end!!

And lastly,
2 Truths, 1 Lie:
1. I am terrified of spiders.
2. I have an insane obsession with all things books.
3. I have size 12 feet.

Few of My Favorite Quotes:

“She’s completely stunning, and she has no idea how amazingly beautiful she is.”

“I’m afraid of destroying her beautiful soul.”

“I suddenly want to slow down time and make every second that I have with him tonight count. I don’t care what tomorrow brings.”

“I look down and see a perfect white imprint of my own hand, surrounded by my sunburn.”

I have struggled trying to find a way to write this review. I could go over the story but the synopsis does a great job at describing what you are about to read. I could share the huge moments in the story that left me smiling or crying, but those are precious seconds that need to be experienced by each reader. So this leaves me with explaining my feelings after devouring this book in one night. That is the hard part, because the amount of feelings that were stirred and touched are vast.

While it is such an isolating time in life, we share the same feeling with anyone who has lost a loved one. You swear the sun will never come up again. You wonder how people can go on with their lives as if nothing had changed, while you stand there wondering if you have the courage and strength to take the next step. As hours and days go on, people expect you to put the smile on your face and get back to living, but that mask weighs too much to bear at times and it becomes easier to just be alone.

There is a date on a calendar every year that is nothing special to the majority, but for you, it is the day your life changed, the room in your heart became a bit emptier, your soul gave birth to a void that will never be filled again. Maybe you looked up at the stars and prayed for peace or screamed out the name of the one who left you with no guidance. You re-evaluate the choices that were made and get angry once again that you had no control over that choice or the outcome.

I just described Dax and Giselle’s life but what they didn’t know was the stars were aligning for them, each day was paving the way for a future, that date was going to prove they have always shared an invisible bond that kept them alive. I was warned when I started this book that Trudy did something different with Epic Lies. I think the best way I can describe it is, she left the reader with an overwhelming sense of mournful peace. She tapped into a subject that we have all experienced, asked the same questions we have asked and let us know we aren’t alone by using the journey of Dax and Giselle. She gave a new voice to loss, pain, love and fate. She provided a feeling of peace in a world of chaos and most of all she convinced us that Dax and Giselle was worth our hearts fracturing into pieces as we love them through their maze of life. We wanted to be part of that light at the end of the tunnel for them.

I highly recommend you read each book in the Epic Fail series. They all give you a new perspective on life, love and the fighting spirit to survive.

I received an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I give this book 4.90 stars.

Two truths and a lie. 'This book was fabulous. I loved it so much I finished it in a day. I have become obsessed with Trudy Stiles book and love her incredible writing, stories, and love of music that she incorporates into her books. You will not fall in love with this book. (ok three truths. Whatever.)

Trudy Stiles took two beautifully damaged characters and brought them together in a truly epic way. This story follows Daxton Anderson, Epic Fails drummer when his life is saved by a sweet girl named Giselle who lets him sit in her car during a storm. As Trudy Stiles expertly tells their stories from the past and the present, the reader slowly gets to understand each character as they try to understand the undeniable connection they share.

Daxton is every girls dream guy. He is sweet and sexy as all hell. I loved that he was so caring throughout this entire book. I mean that man knows how to treat women. He was always sincere and said what was on his mind. He didn't play games. He got straight to the point and went after what he wanted. I loved that desire for acceptance was so strong that he didn't let it get in the way of his relationship with Giselle. Giselle was also a great character. She had been through a lot and had been hurt and lied to many time to count. Despite all that, she was willing to see where things with Dax would go, she never hesitated. Although I did get just a tad bit annoyed with her for running away from hardships and her initial drive to ignore her true feelings.

I was so engrossed in this story I finished it in one day. That has not happened in a very long time for me. This book kept me interested from the very beginning and I did not want it to end. I wanted more of their story because that last time had me screaming, "this cannot be it." It flowed real easy, I was able to keep up with what was going on. I loved the structure of each chapter and how you got to see Dax and Giselle's past and big moments in their lives that seriously impacted them.

I loved this book. If you want a quick and great romance, I highly recommend this book. You do not have to read the other books in the series to keep up. Trudy does a great job introducing you to the other members in the band. I will say some people may feel this is too insta-lovey for them but I did not get that vibe once-so-ever once you grasp the depth of Dax and Giselle's relationship.

Oh Trudy you have done it again. You have in me someone with such a guarded heart that I prepare it appropriately before reading one of your books. Not one to disappoint, Trudy begins Epic Lies with a prologue that demands you buckle your heart in and hold on. The mash up of emotions in the prologue really sets the stage for the sheer love people are capable of, but often resist for a plethora of reasons. Trudy is a master storyteller when it comes to emotional matters of the heart - anger, lies, lust, betrayal, jealousy, love, sadness and hurt. Many of our hearts have run these gamut of emotions for one reason or another, sadly for many reasons.

In Epic Lies not only are connections a focal point for Dax and Giselle in many different ways, but you will come to feel personally connected to the characters as well. You will not come to feel a personal connection just to Dax and Giselle, but also to others in Epic Lies like Mia. Having that one person who is just as screwed up as you are but in a totally different way and you can rely on, call at the drop of a hat, and know that person will not mince words, but tell you what you need to hear. A true 'ride or die' friend connects us to reality when we need it. Giselle needs Mia a lot and as screwed up of a life Mia may seem to some to be living, Mia is happy and has a great head on her shoulders and heart inside!

Dax - no, he may not be the stereotypical rock star many are used to, and that is ok! We are all shaped by the events in our lives. Events which connect us to our past, present, and a future that holds what we make it.
Giselle - yes, she may seem a naive, inexperienced girl. However, her heart has already been through more before her 18th birthday than most adults.

The cast of characters in Epic Lies feels like home. The connections from the beginning to end with Dax and Giselle had me feeling like I was spying on a great group of people. I had a secret, their secret, and as they all were learning the secret and learning that life can be amazing if you allow it, I also was learning with them. Trudy also teaches us throughout Epic Lies that there are a myriad of lies in this life...whether it is a white lie, broken promise, fabrication, deception, exaggeration, or plagiarism, all lies damage. Some we are told, some we tell others, some is information withheld, some is information ignored, and then there are the lies we tell ourselves...

* I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. *

Trudy Stiles is a new-to-me author. I really didn't know what to expect from her or this story. But once I realized it was the second in a spinoff series, I was worried just how much I'd need to know. I did purchase Epic Sins (book one of this series) to get an idea. I really enjoyed that, but I feel as though Epic Lies was better in every way.

I really loved Giselle. She has dealt with a lot of pain, misery, and heartache in her life, but she's somehow not jaded. Sure, she has reservations, but that's natural considering exactly what has happened. And Dax! What a refreshing man in romance! Especially in the case of a rock star. Garrett from book one is the stereotypical rocker, and he was an ass for a lot of the book. Dax is pretty much his opposite. I loved that. He's not an alpha douche, just a genuine guy who has also had his heart broken. Both have trust issues. They have a connection from their past. Can they overcome everything and find love with each other?

I love how this story is laid out. We get glimpses of the characters' pasts in between the present events. This allows us to FEEL their experiences and connect better than if we are just told about what had gone on. And I really felt their connection. I wanted them together immediately, despite their pasts and obvious to us link. It was just a matter of them letting go of pride and stubborness and worry and just letting things happen. It felt like fate. Dax and Giselle's chemistry was off the charts hot. And the sexy scenes are hot, but not overly descriptive. And that is another thing I love about Trudy's writing. There isn't insta-love. The sex isn't over-the-top and overly graphic. There's a build-up. There is tension. And once you get to that moment, it feels perfect.

Epic Lies was a beautiful story that kept me glued to my Kindle screen. I finished this book in a matter of hours. I loved the characters and their connection. Trudy Stiles was a new author for me, but now I will be going back to see what I've missed in the previous series. I also cannot wait to see what's coming up in THIS one. The set-up for Tristan has me beyond curious! But for now, can I claim Dax as mine?

Both Giselle and Dax have been through some tragic circumstances in life. They’ve been lied to. They’ve been used. They’ve been cheated on and suffered a tremendous loss. When fate brings them together during a hailstorm, will the two decide to trust their pull to one another and give themselves a chance? Or will all of the lies lead to them running away?

“You’re confusing me. One minute, you’re telling me you can’t stop thinking about me. Then, you’re kissing me like you mean it. Now you’re all, ‘No?’”

“Trust me, this won’t work. We won’t work. You’re better off.”

“Oh, so Mr. Brooding Rock Star is suddenly making an appearance,” I say sarcastically.

He raises his eyebrows and shakes his head. “What?”

“You can’t just tell me all of those things, kiss me like that and not feel anything. Don’t you feel it? There’s something here, between us. I know I felt it the second you came into my car.” I’m challenging him, and it feels good. And I want him to kiss me again, despite all of his contradictions.

He stands up and looks down at me. “I don’t want this. It was a mistake,” he snaps and backs away.

I was so nervous reading the prologue that this was going to be a huge tearjerker for me. But I loved this book! This is my first Trudy Stiles novel and I definitely want to check out the others because it was so much amazingness in one book. Dax...you have my heart. The entire book was about the serendipity of the moment these two connect. Their past and present are interwoven throughout the story to give you the full effect of all of their missed connections and the inevitable rightness of their current relationship. Giselle saves Dax literally and figuratively. Such a beautiful story. Pretty epic for me.

Now I’m very curious about all of the other books in their world. I think I have some catching up to do and I’m really looking forward to new books on my TBR. I know this wasn’t exactly a second chance love story but in my mind, Giselle and Dax kind of got a second chance at a connection that they kept missing because they just weren’t ready for each other quite yet.

Trudy always, always, writes amazing books. Books with depth and emotion that are well written. Books that touch on sensitive topics but do so with class, sensitivity and understanding. Books that are just fantastic in so many ways.

And Epic Lies is no different.

Ok, let’s start with the prologue. Holy hell. My heart. Trudy sure knew how to stab me in the heart. It’s gut wrenching and amazingly written. After reading the prologue, I knew Epic Lies would be a winner.

Dax is the drummer of the band Epic Fail. I know, epic name. I freaking love it. We met the bandmates in Book One, Epic Sins. While it is not necessary to read book one first, I recommend you do just because it’s a great book. Giselle is the girl who he meets one night during a bad storm. I won’t get into how and why they met- you need to read to find out. Both have been hurt by lies from the past. Both are keeping secrets. But fate seems to keep bringing them together. It’s up to them to decide if they can both get over their pasts and open up and trust again.

I love how Trudy tells her stories. In addition to alternating between the points of views of the two main characters, she also alternates between past and present. I definitely think this can be tricky and confusing if not done right but Trudy always nails it. It’s all so seamless and flows so smoothly.

Like I said above, Trudy writes about sensitive topics. I do not want to mention the ones brought up in Epic Lies so as not to spoil it. But she touches on them in a way that grabs your heart and you won’t want to let go. While you are feeling empathy for Dax and Giselle, you fall in love with them and hope they can get over everything.

I love how all of the characters from the band Epic Fail are brought into the story. Even though it’s a standalone and about Dax, we get to see the other bandmates as well. Their interactions with Dax made me smile. They are more than a bad. They are friends and like brothers.

Epic Lies is sweet, romantic, full of twists and beautiful. A book about love, loss, forgiveness and second chances in life, it’s a must read!!

I really cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

An arc was provided for an honest review.

Trudy Stiles his one of those wonderful authors that keeps me passionate about reading stories that I can escape into even if it's for a few hours. Wonderful storylines with great characters. I was looking forward for more in this series that include members of a rock group. It's so much more than that, this story goes above and beyond my already high expectations. This is a 5 star story for Epic Lies.

This is Dax's story, one of the Epic Fail member. He has some trust issues due to being lied and manipulated in the past. So he's not looking for long term commitment. Gisele has had a traumatic experience where she was left with some trust issues also. Then one night, fate intervenes and puts them in each other's paths. Together they will learn to trust again. This story goes back in forth in time, to different events in their lives. Fate as been intervening for quite a while in their behalf.

I would describe this story has being hopeful, engaging and addicting. Once I got into this story I had a difficult to pull myself out off. This is not an overly dramatic sad story. Although there are a few times where I was heartbroken but Gisele is a strong, fierce young woman who doesn't victimize herself. There were a few other sad moments, but I won't say more.
I truly enjoyed this brilliant, compelling story. This story has heart and soul. Trudy as an unique way to tell a story. She wants us to be intrigued until the very last page. What I also liked was that the story was not centred on Dax being a rock star but a person with real life issues.

It's beautifully written love story that was paced just right. The concept and the plot was well thought out. Very difficult to put down once I started reading it. I couldn't help but feel all their emotions and feelings through these characters.

This a standalone book told via dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this book, trust me it will be worth your precious time and money. This is the second book in the stories but they safely be read as standalones. I can't wait for Epic Love.

I’ve been a huge fan of Trudy Stiles and she continues to just blow me away. With every book she releases I just fall in love with the characters she writes and I want to crawl into the book and make them a part of my life. I immediately fell in love with Dax and Giselle and was rooting for them from the beginning!! Trudy just knows how to tell a love story. Plain and simple. This is one I would highly recommend and I cannot wait to see what’s next in the series!! Each book is a standalone but we get little glimpse into the other stories and I just love it!

Fate, destiny, kismet. Whatever you call it, it seems like Dax and Giselle were just meant to be together. They paths would cross throughout their lives but it was never the right time. On the day that Giselle picks up a stranded stranger she didn’t know it would change her life forever. It was pouring rain and stopped in traffic, she sees a lone figure trying to stay dry under an overpass with his motorcycle. Not one to pick up strangers, Giselle feels sorry for the guy though and signals him to join her in her car. Not only did she save him from the rain but minutes later, an emergency vehicle plows through where his bike was. She literally saves his life.

The stranger is no other than Dax Anderson of the rock group Epic Fail. Giselle is clueless to who he is, just thinking it was some random stranger and not a rock star. Having a near death experience can shake up a person and Dax decides to take some time off and regroup in Mexico. Again, his and Giselle’s paths cross and there is something about Giselle that Dax feels at ease with. Giselle also feels an unfamiliar easiness with him. Neither of them do relationships as both have been burnt by lies and secrets.

The closer they get the more they realize they have more in common and it is something that will shake them both to their core. Can fate be cruel and put them in a situation where they feel guilt for being happy or is fate the one thing that can both bring them happiness that they both seek?? This was a huge 5 star read that I just devoured!!!

The appeal of Trudy Stiles and her stories is that she can create fiction and make you so invested in her work so much so that it feels real and nonfiction. There are a lot of books out there and while I have enjoyed most I have read, there, at the back of your mind is always the reminder that everything is unreal. Trudy and her writing, on the other hand appeals to that inner you and reading her stories is always effortless and highly enjoyable.

If you are looking for douchebaggery and alpha males, you are in the wrong place. But if you would like to immerse yourself in something that’s painful and raw, yet beautiful and sincere – then this is for you. Trudy taps into emotions, on that most basic, raw, human emotions and plays with them. She weaves words that are not complicated, never overwhelming but emotionally engulfing and thought provoking. You will think. You cannot avoid it. You will float to that place wherein you put yourself in her characters’ place and ask “What if”, “How” and “How come?”.

Just like the first book, Epic Sins, the main protagonists in Epic Lies are both lovable and relatable, inspiring even. Dax is not the typical rockstar. We rarely read about rockstars like Dax these days and he is the perfect match to Giselle’s independence. She is not someone who is begging for attention. She is her own character albeit the bad things from her past. And it is, it definitely is a delight to be sucked in a story without the hope for the characters to grow and change. Dax and Giselle are already emotionally mature. They both have baggage, they have an unknown shared history and both have loved and lost. But like grown adults, they face reality head on with thinking heads and guiding hearts. No whiny characters for you here my dear. No immaturity needing guidance. Here are two people who both went through something brutal but chose to be better persons and decided to take a shot at fate.

Pick this up, thank me later.

All truths, no lies.
