I live in the Inland Empire area of California with my husband and beloved pets. I also have sons off paving their own way in the world. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas and have lived all over the United States.
I have released several novels in the suspense/thriller, paranormal/supernatural thriller, and horror genres. I also have poetry and short story collections and have contributed short stories to multiple anthologies. Conduit has earned Bestseller on Amazon in the US and UK. Conduit, The Boys Club, and Chrysalis have all won highly respected awards, while Conduit, The Boys Club, and False Security have also had blogger and reader-voted awards bestowed upon them.
As a reader first, writer second, I love to discover new authors. My entire life has revolved around imaginary worlds contained within the covers of a book. My aunt introduced me to Stephen King and a little book called Christine in eighth grade, and my life was never the same. As a geek-extraordinaire, I love comics and graphic novels, and also review those, along with the occasional movie and book, as a guest contributor for Fanbase Press.
Gabriel Logan grew up in foster care or a homeless juvenile delinquent trying to find his next meal.
Enter former FBI agent Jim Schaffer who is starting a fringe organization that operates outside the law for the sake of justice. Logan is Schaffer’s first recruit of boys that have lived a throwaway existence prior to joining what is called The Boys Club.
For sixteen years, Logan has set an example to others and brought many people to justice and one day Schaffer has plans for him to take over the group, until the results of his work end with his pregnant wife being murdered by Hugh Langston. He now is just going through the motions of getting the job done.
After the last job almost cost him his life he finally agrees to take some time off but one urgent job is handed to him to save the daughter of the man responsible for killing his wife. With this chance to bring down the person responsible he can’t turn the job down but this job will challenge him more than anything is the past.
Sara Langston is about to marry Stephen Mathers, which is almost an arranged marriage. Stephen is set to take over Langston business and by being married into the family the transition will go easier. Unfortunately Sara knows nothing of criminal activity her father is involved with but starts to question accounting issues for the one business.
This leads to the job that Logan has been given, kidnap Sara before her wedding to prevent the hit on her life to happen on the honeymoon.
The job seemed have come to them a little too easy, which causes concern for Logan of a potential leak within The Boys Club, so he has to look into these men he trusts to figure out if one is betraying him while finding a way to save Sara and take down Langston.
This was an amazing suspenseful action packed read. Both Logan and Sara have a troubled past and are thrown together in a difficult situation. The characters are well developed and even though the book does not end in a cliffhanger it would be awesome for another book because there is so much more that could be told.
Even the supporting characters add to the development and suspense of the story. There are plenty of twists and turns that just when you think you have it figured out you don’t. The book keeps you on the edge of your seat right from the start.
The Boys Club was voted #25 in the 2014/2015 Top 50 Self-Published Books You Should Read (ReadFreely)! It is my third novel (fourth publication) and is a romantic suspense novel. I had a lot of fun writing it, and actually pushed back my other releases in order to get this one done. I hope you enjoy it!
Angie Martin brings her readers another jaw dropping story that is fast paste, and that will leave you wanting more. Every chapter is field with twist and turns that will have your heart racing, and quickly turning the pages to read more. She expertly weaves a tale that is romantic, but not to much. It is balanced perfectly with suspense. The romance takes a backseat in this book; Which works perfectly for this action packed book.
Martin hooks the reader right away with a fast past fight scene. The characters are just right. Martin has created characters that are lovable. They are well written and realistic. I personally loved loosing myself in the world that Martin has created.
Logan will quickly become a new book boyfriend for all of you ladies out there. I know he is now on my top 5 list. He is caring, protective, sweet, and just all around an awesome guy. He does his job, and he does it well. Martin has done a great job creating Logan for this book.
Sarah fits into this book very well. I personally loved getting to know her. She is also a sweet and lovable character. In the book she was brave, and she knew how to protect herself. It was nice to have a front row seat to the romance that was building between her and Logan. Martin sneaks the romance between them in during all of the craziness.
The secondary characters in this book were well thought out, and well played. Some of them play a huge part, and some of them we only get a glimpse of. This entire book was very well written. As usually Martin has created another master peace that has earn 5 glowing stars from me. I loved every moment of this book. It was hard to put it down. I was immediately caught up in this amazing book, and I can't wait to see what she has in the works for her next book.
If you haven't read any of Angie Martin's books, I highly recommend you start with this one. If you like fast paced, action packed romantic suspense books, then this is the book you should try!
***I received an ARC of this book from the author for an honest review.***
OMG, this was one of those books that kept you guesses who the bad guy was and when you found out who it is you screamed no!
Gabe Logan was in and out of foster homes since he was four. When he was thirteen, he ran away from his latest home to live on the streets. For two years he did ok, until one B&E went wrong. He landed himself in jail, until his Guardian Angel came to save him. For the past sixteen years Logan has been working for The Boys Club doing good things. Until he crossed the wrong criminal. Loosing his wife and unborn child, Logan was lost. Two years after the death of his family, his company gets a job. Hugh Langston has put a hit out on his daughter, and Logan is sent to rescue her. He is weary of the assignment from the start, but will do anything to keep Sara alive.
Sara is the prodigal daughter of Hugh Langston. Unbeknownst to her, she has stumbled upon something she should not have, that may very well cost Sara her life. The day before she is supposed to marry her fiancé she is kidnapped. At first she thought the things Logan told her about her father and fiancé were untrue until she had time to think about. The information she knows can put her father away for a long time. Logan just needs to get her into the hands of the FBI.
With a leak in The Boys Club, will Logan get Sara to the FBI in time or will the mole get to them before the can.
As I said in the beginning OMG. This book is action packed and will have you turning the page to find out what will happen next. I can’t wait to read more from Angie and I hope she writes more about Gabe and Sara.
The Boys Club by Angie Martin is a fast-paced thriller with a touch of romance. Gabe Logan has never been on the right side of the law, until at age fifteen, he’s offered a chance at turning his life around by a man named Jim Schaffer. Schaffer specializes in working jobs that other law enforcement organizations will not touch. He trains Logan to be one of the best. Then, a job comes along bringing an old nemesis back into Logan’s life, someone who took away Logan’s dearest possession. The daughter of this man, Sara Langston, is wanted by the FBI to testify against her father. Sara has been placed into an arranged marriage to further the career of one of her father’s employees, his second hand man. Will Logan be able to get Sara safely away from the controlling man, or will all the plans fall to pieces?
I really enjoyed reading The Boys Club. The characters were very well-written and relatable. I loved that each had flaws they struggle to overcome. Sara was my particular favorite, and I wanted to know more about her relationship with her mother. The story flowed beautifully, with just the right amount of twists and turns. I thought there could have been a bit more detail about how Logan gains Sara’s trust, but that was really my only possible criticism about the novel. I hope Miss Martin plans to write a sequel because I would very much like to see where the story would go from here. The Boys Club by Angie Martin is a brilliant read, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a bit of thriller and suspense.
The Boys Club had a bit of everything I like in a book. It is a romantic, suspenseful, thriller that was well written with well developed characters giving sterling performances. Logan is a bit of a bad boy but responsibility and purpose transform him into a mature, protective, and reliable agent.
It would be so easy to give the plot away but I won't. I didn't know what the story was about before I began reading, and I don't think the next reader should either.
Ms Martin has managed to pull off another great suspenseful rollercoaster. Some parts of this novel had be on the edge of my seat. The writing is, crystal clear and the story flows well from chapter to chapter, which made it difficult for me to put the book down. I'm a bit obsessive when reading a good book. This was definitely one of those stories, where I felt I needed to see what was happening next. A well deserved 5 stars. I enjoyed it immensely, just as I did, Conduit and False Security, by Angie Martin.
The Boys Club is a fantastic read! From the first page I was sucked in and sent on an adventure with Logan and Sara. I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nails while my heart was beating out of my chest with all the suspense. I felt like I was watching my own personal action movie, with the details in this story I was able to see exactly what Angie wanted me to see and it all played out while reading. I absolutely love these characters and I think you will fall in love with them as well. Especially Logan he's a kick butt kind of guy but he also has a soft side. And Sara, I just want her to be real so we can be friends. lol There is so much in this book, a little bit of everything for everyone. You get drama, action, mystery, romance and even some OMG moments. I most definitely, highly recommend this book.
Since so many reviews have pretty much given a great summary of the story I won't bore you with repeating with what's already been said :)
I have to say I loved The Boys Club it was just the book I needed. It had everything for a touch of romance to thriller and suspense. Just simple loved it and was quite impressed with this story.
Logan is a great lead character in this book and love what he grows into. This book grabs you in until you need to finish this and see where it takes you. Everything flows nicely together and was easy for me to read in one sitting. I tend to devour books if I get into them. I love the cover BTW.
This story will give you a nice thrill ride for sure! Highly recommend <3 Now I need to see what else Angie has written and catch up on an author I somehow I missed reading
I was lucky enough to be a BETA reader for this thrilling book. I loved it! It's fast paced, romantic, and thrilling all in one book that packs not only a punch to your face, but one to your gut with real human emotions and situations! 5 stars all the way!!!
I couldn't put this book down. I was sucked in from the Prologue! I've been a huge fan of Angie Martin's since I read False Security, and her work just continues to get better.
I loved the romance in The Boys Club. It wasn't too much for a thriller/suspense and didn't overwhelm me. When I read a thriller/suspense, that's what I'm looking for, but Martin perfectly blended in a romantic plot while maintaining an interesting and exciting, who done it, plot.
I highly recommend The Boys Club and all of Angie Martin's other books.
Completely speechless! How do I even try to explain how phenomenal this book is. Angie Martin gripped me on the first page and was taken for a seat gripping ride. Suspense, gripping, edge of your seat, twists, turns, breath holding, and thrilling are only a few things that come to mind of how to describe The Boys Club. The writing was flawless and amazing. These characters become a part of me and I truly felt as though I was right there with them. This was the first book by Angie Martin that I have read and I can honestly say it will not be the last. I have already went and one clicked another one of her books. This is definitely a 5 star book and more. You will not be disappointed with this book or author.
The Boys Club- Where boys/men are recruited, granting second chances. Bonds formed into a tight circle, creating a special organization. An intense, elaborated plan well executed but it was a bumpy, messy, confusing journey. When your past & present collides, can you separate the two?? Kidnap. Murder. Revenge. Innocence. Every man for themselves, but always having each other's backs, they'd give up their lives to protect. To wright the wrongs. As the team dissipates, will they complete their mission successfully or will it fall apart? This was one insane suspensble ride. I was graciously gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
First, I was given an Advance Review Copy of this book for fair and honest review. Excellent because I now have a new BBF. This is a fast paced, take no prisoners, read. The action did not stop and the characters were very well developed. Thoroughly enjoyable. I really liked the book. Good job Ms. Martin.
I'm waffling between 3.5 and 4 stars for this. I really enjoyed it, but at times it seemed to drag and was a bit repetitive with our hero thinking about how he wanted Sara, but knew it couldn't go anywhere. The action was great! The villain was a surprise. I'll be reading more from this author :)
How often is it we get a female lead that gets put into an unfamiliar situation, who actually listens to the advice the experienced male lead gives her? Rarely, but Sara from the Boys Club definitely does. She listens to advice, while still making her own decisions. This overall makes her a lot stronger lead than all the supposed strong, stubborn, stupid female leads we're bombarded with. This action packed book has strong leads, and interesting support characters. The female friendship portrayed is a very healthy one (although it's only a minor part in the story) without jealousy and weirdness. And Sara keeps caring for her friend even once the male lead gets into the picture. The romance in this book is slow-burn and never gets in the way of the plot, which in my opinion is a very good thing. How often do we read a good setup, only for every single thing to be thrown away in favour of the romance (or worse, a love-triangle). I wished I was more surprised about the twist, but I wasn't, which was pretty much my only disappointment. I liked how we switched between Sara and Gabe, though at times I wish we were seeing a certain part of the story through the eyes of the other character, just becaue I wanted to know what they were thinking. All in all, I was very pleasantly surprised by this book and am super glad I picked it up.
Loved it! This was an action packed adventure from start to finish. Throw in mysteries, double crossing so-and-so's, and a romance and you're onto a winner in my eyes! I kept trying to guess what was going to happen next. Nope. Didn't happen. So I couldn't put the book down! I really enjoyed the characters and the baddies were BAD!!! Excellent reading!
Suspense and thrilling! This fast paced book had my heart racing and blood pumping the whole way through. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and their chemistry. I loved the high stakes and the danger! A must read thriller for romantic suspense lovers!
Gabe Logan (goes by Logan throughout the book) led a very poor life until he was recruited by an organization led by a former FBI agent. The organization works by operating outside of normal rules and laws as a method of getting justice. Odd things begin happening and Logan become suspicious of someone in the very organization he has grown to love. Logan has one goal and that is to kill Hugh Langston, the man responsible for Logan’s wife’s death. Logan gets a mission to save the daughter of the one man he despises and wants dead, Sara Langston. In order to do this Logan must first kidnap Sara. Sara is moving through life but is not really living. All choices are made by her father and soon to be husband. Then she is kidnapped by Logan and life as she knows it changes. Can Logan get through to Sara and complete his mission to save her? Will Sara learn to trust Logan and his intentions? Will either Logan or Sara move on from this experience and be able to find some peace and happiness?
This was first book I have read by Angie Martin and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it started out a little slow, but when it picked up, it really picked up. This book was a quick read and I finished it in a single sitting. That to me is the mark of a good book! When the story got going, this book was fast paced and certainly action packed. There were no dull moments after the kidnapping occurred. It was filled with mystery and intrigue and had me guessing throughout. I guessed early on who I thought the potential leak was and changed my mind several times throughout the read. That to me is a great sign in a mystery novel. Angie did a great job telling this story and developing her characters and their relationships. I fell in love with Sara and Logan and was cheering and rooting them on throughout. After reading this book, I will definitely check out more work from Angie Martin.
I give this book 4 stars and highly recommend giving it a read!
A page turner - another good one from Angie Martin
My second foray into the world of Angie Martin books did not disappoint. Gabriel Logan is a man with a rough past and a broken heart but in The Boys Club, a group dedicated to dispensing justice outside legal channels, he has found a purpose and will one day take over as its leader. When an assignment comes in to take down Hugh Langston, the man responsible for killing Gabe’s wife in a hit meant for him, he jumps at the opportunity because it’s not just another job, this time it’s personal.
As the assignment unfolds, things just don’t seem to add up for Gabe and he begins to wonder if he can trust his team. The wrong decision could cost him his life and that of his charge, Sara Langston, the daughter of the man he’s trying to take down.
Gabe is the kind of hero we all like rooting for—broken in some ways, flawed, and intense but willing to make tough sacrifices no matter the cost, the kind of guy you want protecting you if your life is in danger. Sara Langston, the other point of view character is a woman who’s a passenger in the back seat of her own life while her father and fiancé take the wheel. But in Martin’s capable hands, we see Sara transform from a casual bystander to a woman who claims her strength and takes charge of the life she’s always wanted. Packed with suspense and action, themes of betrayal, redemption, and second chances permeates this page-turner. Another good one from Angie.
The Boys Club by Angie Martin is a gripping story, one that wakes you up from the start. I was lured right into this captivating tale even before I got to chapter one. The non-stop action and dramatic scenes had me reading with anticipation. Hardly looking away from this book hoping to find out the mysteries that were coming my way.
The writing is smooth and engaging. This was a very quick read for me because I read at high speed all the way because the storyline was so good.
The Boys Club had a James Bond feel to it without all the special gadgets. It moves at a face pace, full of action and ongoing suspense. I can see this story being made into a movie on the big scene. It has all the elements of a great film.
Quote ~
In the bathroom, she realized that all potential weapons had been removed as well. She turned her attention to the mirror. She looked like hell, but she didn’t care much about her appearance. On the sink counter, a bath towel and wash cloth called to her. She shut the bathroom door, careful not to make a sound. Picking up the bath towel, she arranged it so the material was doubled in half, and held it over the mirror. She took a deep breath and smashed her fist into the mirror. The sound of a slight crack came from behind the towel. She turned her body and used her elbow to finish the job.”
It started off slow for me, and I don't like when romance gets in the way of a good thriller, but in this book you just kind of don't care. Gabe Logan is a bad boy gone good . . . but it's sort of you just can't take ALL the bad out of him. He's handsome and tough, and even though he's a killer he's got a good heart. Sara has come up surrounded by bad people, yet she has an innocent soul. (Oh, but don't take her for being too innocent, one of my favorite lines was after she found out Logan had killed two men and she said, "Good.") You know from the onset that Logan and Sara are destined for one another, and while this reader also figured out early on who the bad guy was, this story took you on such a roller coaster ride - the fight scenes, the suspense, the whodunit - that you just can't put it down. I have to say it again - Wow! Martin's writing grabs you and holds you to the very last word, and even after you finish you want to read more. Well-written. Engrossing. Riveting. A page turner. I've had Conduit, another novel by Martin, on my Kindle a long time, after reading The Boys Club I'm definitely moving it up on my to be read list. Martin has a new fan.
Highly recommended. Five stars, wish I could give more.
Once again, so drawn into Angie Martin's story! I think I am needing to read everything she is written in order to help satisfy my suspense needs. The Boy's Club is comprised of a group of misguided young boys who are bought into an organization that with the governments somewhat okay can work outside the law. We meet Logan who, has grown up a better person in serving the Boy's Club. Sadly, though his past has left him without his wife and unborn child. They are killed mistakenly in a car bomb that was set for him. The job that has come to them involves Sara, the daughter of the man who ordered the hit on Logan. His gut tells him, there is something deeply wrong with his current mission. Who can he trust? His nearest and closest friend Jack? Sara? Without, giving away a spoiler, I can't answer that question. What I can tell you is, there are twists and turns along this journey of finding safety for Sara that will having you on the edge of your seat. While I am not sure if there will be another book with these wonderful characters in it, I am hopeful there will be. ** I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ** 4.7/5 ** Cross posting to Book Reviews and TAkeovers and My Reading Reality. **
Suspense, romance, a bad boy named Logan on the verge of manhood: Angie Martin, no stranger to award winning, brings is "The Boys Club."
Gabriel Logan has led a throwaway life. From juvenile delinquent to homeless young adult isn't very far to fall. When a former FBI agent proposes to recruit Logan into a fringe organization recruiting angry young males to operate outside the law, Logan can't say no.
But can justice be found outside the law? Logan rises to fast in this shadow organization, until Logan threatens the men behind the scene and his pregnant wife turns up dead.
Logan knows his enemy, who has killed his wife: one Hugh Langston. When an opportunity to bring down Langston arises, Logan seizes it. But can our bad boy turned zealot do the job, even if it means saving Langston's daughter from her father's own hit list? And why, after so long on the wrong side of fate, is Langston getting lucky?
Lucky in this case means succeeding in his plan to rescue the woman who can indict Logan's enemy -- and help him determine who in the Boys Club are the traitors?
A complex, heated story of suspense, love, betrayal and mystery.
This is the second book by Angie Martin that I read. I had enjoyed her style of writing in the past and had very high expectations from this author, wanting to read more of her work. She did not disappoint me with this book.
The Boys Club was a well written suspenseful story that kept me guessing. I could not put the book down!
Logan, a man recruited to take care of criminals who slipped through the cracks of the legal system, was given a special mission; save the daughter of his enemy. He was put in charge of the tricky operation, having difficulty trusting anyone including the woman he needed to protect. On top of that, he suspected somebody from his own team to be a traitor.
I was hooked from the very start and soon became lost in the book, needing to know what happens next. "Just one more chapter," I kept telling myself when I needed to focus on other things. One chapter ended up becoming several.
Angie Martin is a very talented author who knows how to tell a good story, with realistic characters and dialog. You'll almost feel like you are spying, unable to do anything about the outcome.
There are no words that I could write that would even begin to do this book justice. I am struggling with what to say and not give anything away. This book had the nail biting suspense, a little romance, and just an overall HOLY SHIT emotion!! I bet I said those two words more times in this book than I have in any book in a really long time. Logan was by far my favorite character. He is just that OH MY GGGG guy. I really don't know how to describe it but if you don't love Logan then something is really wrong with you because the author wrote him perfectly. I also really liked Sara and how she is basically blindsided with everything in her life all of a sudden is different from what she thought it was and how she handles it I think is written brilliantly. I really can not say enough good about this book. It is just AMAZING!!! Go read it!! I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It is that good!! 5++ AMAZEBALLS stars!! A copy was gifted in exchange for an honest review.
The Boy’s Club is a surprisingly quick read, because you can’t put it down. It was late and I thought I’d read a few chapters before nodding off and the next thing I knew, half the night gone and I’d finished the book. This book is an exciting read. There are thrilling scenes, suspenseful ones and a slight romantic aspect but it kind of melded together to make it one hell of a trip.
I have read Angie Martin’s books and she kind of gets her characters, the emotions they feel and is able to look at the world through their perspective and through their fears, desires and doubts. I found that aspect beguiling in her other book and I wasn’t disappointed in this one.
Logan is a hard to resist character, strong but gentle, ruthless but caring. You start rooting for him and feel his emotions. The other characters are all well developed but Logan walks away with it. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more from the author.
I’ll be honest, it was a little slow to start out, but when it picked up, oh holy cow did it pick up. There’s one scene were Gabe is tied to a chair and then….well, yeah, you’ll have to read it. I was biting my nails! I had to skip to then end to assure myself that she hadn’t just committed a GRRM. (LURVE his work btw, so don’t think I’m dissing on him!) BUT I will tell you that there is a happily ever after, so no worries. There was definite chemistry between these two. So much so that when the intimacy occurred it went from taking off shirts to pillow talk afterward with no in between. Now I’m not complaining because explicit scenes aren’t necessary for a book to be good or not. Just anymore when you have such heat between two characters, anymore the intimacy is very graphic and...(https://textuallove.wordpress.com/201...) Read the rest of the review behind the link.
The Boy`s Club by Angie Martin is in one word suspenseful and tons of action. From a young child neglected and almost going the wrong path in life someone helped him to become a man who with one shot is lethal and dangerous can make a woman like Sarah swoon. I loved that even though he had such a tragic loss in his life he is open minded about finding love again even though a part of him is weary. Now Sarah to me felt like she was too obedient most times waiting for her to crack and let loose. Logan is definitely the one right for her to make her be the woman she should be. This is the first I have read from Angie Martin and have to say it was really good. Loved that it never dragged or slowed throughout the book filled with suspense, action and betrayal never saw that coming. Definitely going to get into more of her other books from Angie Martin seeing how much she rocked in the action in this book.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Where do I start? The Boys Club was definitely my type of book. It has the hot, badass hero with a tortured soul. Perfect! Seriously though, Logan is a very deep and intense character. It's easy to be drawn to him. For me, he stole the story.
The author does a fantastic job slowly building the plot and then BAM, drops the bomb. I don't want to give too much away, but there are definitely surprises in here that blew me away.
The author's writing is refreshing. It easily flows and as a reader, I completely got lost in the story.
I enjoyed Sara's (the female character's) strength as well. She is sweet and naïve at first, but then has to face reality very quickly.
This book has it all: the action, suspense, romance, mystery. I highly recommend this to anyone out there who appreciate a good story.
I love a badass who also has some softness in him, and Logan was all that and more for me. Angie Martin has once again managed to create a bunch of characters that you’d like to know in a real life. Logan, a broken soul, Sara, a pretty butterfly who will develop from Plain Jane in to a wild cat, with sharp nails, Hugh, a man you just want to punch in his face…
I absolutely loved this action packed suspense story with layers and layers full of surprises. Every time I thought I knew what was about to happen, the story did a nice turn and made me guess again… Brilliant! This is the kind of story that sucks the reader in from the very first page…hooking, gripping, entwining the reader into the story so tight you think it’s real!
The pace was insane, so be ready when you start…there is no stopping!
Having already read another book by this author (Conduit), I felt confident this would be a great novel. Happily it is! I thought it would entertain me for a few days, but instead, I stayed up way too late to finish it in one night.
You’ll want to kick Hugh, while cheering for the main characters Logan and Sara, who will charm you. The pace is exhilarating, the plot amazing, and the characters are so well written, that I felt I knew them.
Author Angie Martin has a writing style that captivates the reader. She is a master storyteller. A quote from this exciting book: “I’ve been in far worse spots than this…After taking him hostage at gunpoint, a drug dealer who smelled like he climbed out of a sewer struggled with a frayed rope to tie Logan to a pole covered in red, peeling paint.” Intrigued?
