“Life is not meant to be easy. It’s a challenge you have to rise to every single day. We’ve all got demons inside us. We’ve all got secrets that could drag us down into an abyss.”
Infiltrating the enemy has never been a problem for Charlie Downes. She’s spent the past ten years pretending to be someone she’s not, all in the name of crown and country. New Zealand may be a small South Pacific nation, but there is nothing trifling about its security taskforce. And her employer, despite being a shadow dwelling organisation, takes security of its state very seriously.
But her latest assignment on home soil is set to be her most challenging. Pitted against a private security firm with skills - and operatives - both unexpected and surprising, Charlie finds out more than she bargained for. And the truth will indeed enlighten. But can she remain emotionless when the hunter becomes the prey? And can she ignore how being hunted makes her feel?
Because the moment she lays eyes on Adam Savill everything changes. Her assignment. Her objectives. Her entire world. And if Adam has his way, Charlie will be changed forever.
International espionage. Counter terrorism. Mob syndicates. And drug cartels. Everything clashes in this exciting conclusion to the Sweet Seduction Series. And as Charlie and Adam chase down the enemy, dodging bullets and emotions, all the while fighting their explosive attraction to one another, secrets are revealed that shock them all.
For knowing her secret could get you killed. And Charlie Downes’ secret is most definitely lethal.
Nicola Claire lives in beautiful Taupo, New Zealand with her husband, two teenage boys and a Miniature Schnauzer named Rudy.
A bit of a romance junkie, she can be known to devour as many as half a dozen books a week if she drinks too much coffee. But her real passion is writing sexy, romantic suspense stories with strong female leads and alpha male protagonists who know how to love them.
So far, she’s written well over 70 books. She might have caught the writing bug; here’s hoping there’s no cure!
This one was such an amazing ending to the series, and for me, without a doubt, the best of them. Both MCs were fantastic, and I really wanted even more, especially a epilogue (yes, I know they are going to pop up in the author's other series), but you guys know how greedy I am, so I wanted it now! It was sooooo worth the wait!;)
The eighth addition to the Sweet Seduction series by Nicola Claire. Charlie Downes is sent undercover to ASI (Anscombe Securities & Investigations) by The Department. After analyzing the employees, she sets her sights on Adam Savill as her target. But something doesn't feel right about this mission. Soon she realizes this is supposed to be her last.
Love this series and this was a nice addition. Not sure I'd call it my favorite of the series but it stands well beside the others. There is a nice set-up for a new series towards the end. Looking forward to it.
So I just finished reading SS secrets yesterday, & guys, let me be honest with you. It was amazing. I couldn't put my phone down. I slept late to try to get another chapter in before sleeping. I love Adams and Charlie's story. I love how there's a twist and it's the girl that is dangerous rather then the guy. Nicola mentioned that she might make more stories with Charlie & if she does, I'll be one of the firsts to read it. I'm not lying when I say this book is amazing. It has action, love, romance, suspense, and you'll even be a little shocked. Nicola Claire is my all time favorite author. I'll catch myself rereading books that she's written. No other author can compare. I recommend reading her books!(:
Holy crap, did Nicola Claire end this on a bang or what?! This was the most intense, suspenseful, on the edge of my seat, going to pee my pants ending to a series that I have ever read! I totally got swept into this gang in the Sweet Seduction series a few months ago. Some blew me away and some were a bit slow for me but I have never seen an author knock it out of the park like Nicola did here. For those looking for something similar to KA's Rock Chick series but with more suspense and a little less quirkiness this is it. I promise you the 8 book series is totally worth it in the end.
I love the book! It is one of her best works! I love the action pack theme, with the mystery. But what really got my attention is love at first sight, and how it can overcome everything. Adam and Charlie had a lot of problems, mainly because of Charlie, but it was the heart that won everything. I must say, that if you read it, you would not stop until yo end it! It was awesome!
I love this series, I could reread them and never get tired of them. I started reading this book and I couldn't put it down. I cried and laughed and just a really good book.
I have been a huge fan of this series from the beginning and was so sad to hear that this would be the final installment! But boy does this series go out with a bang!
I love strong female leads, and Charlie has strength is spades! She is more lethal than Adam in a lot of ways, and I just love that! Now Adam...sigh! He is attracted to Charlie right away and trusts her even when he has no reason to. That constant presence and always being there to catch Charlie just made him that much more amazing! These two definitely struggled, but it was magic when they do come together!
As always, this book has a great romance. I would have liked the two main characters to know each other just a liiiiitle bit better (there was a bit of insta-love going on) but their feelings for each other just grab you. I also really like how the chapters alternated POVs from Charlie and Adam. I don't think this occurred in the early books, but don't quote me on that.
It was the action that really set this book apart for me! SO many twists and turns, and you never quite know who the bad guy is or who to trust. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I really hope that Nicola does expand on the group of characters that we meet at the end, because they are all SO intriguing!
My only complaint is that I had expected this book to feel more like...well, an ending. I was expecting some kind of big reunion or finale or something, but that didn't happen. In fact, we barely see the non-ASI characters. The author does hint that there may be a novella in the future and I certainly hope that is the case! I know that we can also catch up with these characters in the HEAT series (which is equally as amazing as Sweet Seduction) so I guess I will have my fill :)
All in all, a great read and explosive finish!
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, but all opinions are my own.
The final book of the Sweet Seduction series begins when Charlie gets hired by ASI. The problem is she has a lot of a secrets, a lot more than ASI could actually deal with. And then there's Adam. Charlie and Adam can't seem to stay away from each other, and neither one of them knows what's going on between them, but they also know they can't trust each other either. The secrets being kept through out this book are crazy, and one too many may end up putting them all in danger.
This book was phenomenal. I couldn't believe how much of a badass Charlie was! But not only that it was great to see the ASI family, and how they reacted to Charlie. I also really enjoyed Charlie and Adam together as well! It was really great! These two were so much a like yet so different as well.
This story got you hooked, then proceeded to keep you captivated by the intrigue, suspense, and romance while wondering what the heck is going on as well.
I adored this final book of this series. The only thing I would have wished it had was a little bit more reaction from Adam, and the ASI team once everything was over with, just have a conclusion with them in it and their reaction to Charlie. Otherwise it was amazing as it was and I adored it!
Oh my God this book is amazing!! I've loved all of sweet seduction but this one is hands down my favourite. Charlie is recruited to ASI but it becomes clear pretty quickly that she's got a lot of secrets...and Adam may have found his match. There's a lot of twists and turns in this one and it is a pretty exciting ride. Charlie is an awesome character, I love that she's fiery and can hold her own with anyone at ASI. Sadly this one is the last in the series but it was a great way to tie things together and I'm happy that Adam had a starring role in this book. I was sad not to have an idea of what's in store for a few of the minor characters (Koki, Brook) but maybe this means there could be more to come?? Fingers crossed. -arc
I really loved this book! So sad that the series is over. This book definitely keeps you on your toes with secrets unraveling. Amazing ending to the series.
Only complaint is I was hoping to get an epilogue maybe a glimpse into the future with all the couples. Maybe Nicola has plans for that in the future..... Or even a change of heart about letting Finn Drake find his woman that brings him to his knees and giving us a surprise book on him..... **Hint Hint Nicola**
Can't believe it's come to an end....way to go Ms Claire. Awesome ending. Just hope we get a new series with the spies. That way we keep up with the rest of the Asi and co. Heartfelt and full of drama and intrigue. Hot and steamy too. Absolutely Luved it.
MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - Adam Savill, one of API's hot hunters, finally finds his love-at-first-sight in Charlie - which is definitely not a good thing if he wants to stay alive & keep his heart in one piece. Charlie is going undercover working for Nick at API & I guess what hurt the storyline for me was all the intrigue & figuring out who are the bad guys & good guys are. Charlie is a trained spy & we later find out she's been brainwashed. Adam makes this whole story fantastic since he knows Charlie is out on a ledge all alone, even though she's a trained killer she is in serious danger & has no one at her back. He wants to be the man who catches her, Charlie's safety net, the man she leans on for help. More of a mystery & intrigue story rather than a romance but I definitely loved the romance. Charlie is all hard edges & deadly but I loved when she allowed her heart to open to the possibility of letting Adam into her heart.
I enjoyed this series so I had to read this book (#8) when I read it was the last one in the series. It was ok. I personally just don't like "spy" books. When one character is hiding who they really are from the other, when you don't know who the bad guys are - all the cloak and dagger and espionage. That's just me, nothing against the book itself.
A great ending to a good series. I've often said that if you liked the Rock Chick series this has the same vibe. This last book, however, was more romantic suspense and exciting. Covert ops are trying to infiltrate the ASI team but the line between good guys and bad are blurred. Try this series because all the books are good but the finale is the best.
After a slow start this book gets going and has a everything a good romantic suspense novel needs. Not the best of the genre but definitely worth a read. And once again a little different from the rest of the series. 3 stars or 3.5 romance stars
