Amber owns a bakery in Oak Hills. She is doing just fine and raising her young son as a single mom. Maverik has returned home because of an injury that ended his career and is a little lost. When he sees Amber he is immediately smitten and finds excuses to spend time in her bakery every day. Eventually he starts to form a relationship with her son too and is even more intrigued his new future. Things of course don’t run smoothly, and Amber and Maverik both have some issues to overcome.
I like this story, it’s a sweet read that is made even cuter by the relationship that Maverik forms with Amber and her son. I loved how falling in love helped him finally come to terms with some of the decisions he has made and needs to make in the future. If you like a cute swoony read with some heat and cute kid scenes, this is a good pick.
Maverick was instantly attracted to Amber and her son Ollie captured his heart. Ollie reminded him of himself at that age. He gave him a purpose since his forced retirement. He did not know how to handle his feelings for Amber. He was the rough and tough playboy hockey player who never had a committed relationship but somehow, with the help of advice from his brother Liam, he was able to put his fear aside. Amber was afraid of a heart break like she suffered with her divorce but her girlfriends encouraged her to take the chance because she deserved to be loved and happy. Ollie wanted Mav around permanently and was happy that his mom and Mav grabbed their HEA to make their family life come true.
Mavrik thought he was living his best life until he got hurt and moved back home. moved back only to meet the family that he didn't know he needed. and Amber's was fine living for her business and her son. until a tall, dark, broody, handsome man walked into her coffee shop every day. and then he kissed her. then he gave her the most unforgettable night of passionate sex. and then he realized that he wanted her and Ollie. he loved the kid as much as he loved her. and then they became a family. and he finally got what he needed all along. loved it. wished it was just a little bit longer, I was waiting for a little Mav to come along.
This wonderful story has some amazing characters that I enjoyed connecting with, especially Ollie an endearing little boy that brings Mavrik back to life after he finds himself retiring from hockey. It is a descriptively well written story with a great storyline that had me cheering on Amber and Maverik as they navigated their path to happiness.

🌶️🌶️🌶️ ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ This was a fast and sweet read. Closed-door romance. A coffee shop owner and an ex-professional hockey player coming back home to his roots. Amber has a son named Ollie. I fell in love with him instead of Mavrik. Which is weird. This kid is intelligent and intuitive when it comes to his mom. It's freaking cute and sweet.
I loved the story as a whole but there were a couple of inconsistencies, such as Ollie (the son) and Mav (Mmc) seemingly not knowing who the other was when Mav helped him with hockey initially. Also the ultimate progression of their relationship seemed forced at the end.
And if I took a shot for every time Liam says "Yeah, right, a and I'm the queen of England," I'd be three sheets to the wind.
Overall, great storyline, those were just my peeves.
Great story with characters that pull you into their story. We follow Mavrik and Amber. And the way Ollie deals with Mavrik and the feelings of life that Ollie evokes in him., that life isn't so bad after he stops playing hockey. A beautiful story and one that I recommend reading.

It's a sweet love story with drama, that deals with complicated feelings from starting over and moving on 🤔. Well-developed characters, a supportive extended family. The storyline has a realistic feel to it. It's just right for a good bedtime read 😉.

This is a great story set in a small town Where two people meet and ultimately fall in love Both have some baggage but they overcome it with the help of family and friends Maverick and Amber make a great couple and Ollie brings more humor to the story If you are looking for a book to make you feel good this is it
Tyla Walker is one of my favorite authors. However, this time I didn't like female lead character. She came across as overly dramatic. Started off well, but after kiss, then the shop disasters and public confrontation...I couldn't continue to read. Premise of story is a great one tho. Looking forward to next read!!
The cover is what held my interest, but it held a lot longer after I started reading. The characters were great, I just wish they would added more to their family. Great read
I thought I was in the mood for an autumnal ta!e. I didn't k kW JD be drowned by it. If I drank every time crisp autumn air was mentioned I'd be too drunk to finish the book. I've learned there is such a thing as too much fall yall.
But the characters don’t really have much chemistry and the relationship unfolds quite rapidly and recklessly at the end for a single mother who is bringing a man into her son’s life permanently.
To much repeated phrases, not enough action. Should’ve had more love scenes. Would have been nice if the real father came into the scene a little more drama that way.
