"Game of Fear" delivers to fans of Robin Perini an intense murder mystery that I think will grab their attention from the very first page. Perini creates action and momentum that will take readers on an adventure they will remember long after they read the most unpredictable ending for a thriller.

The story begins more than two decade ago when late at night the 17 year old son sees his father sneak out of the house. The boy follows his father to the bus depot and witnesses' two teenage girls disembark an arriving bus. They walk up his father and before they can say anything bullets start flying. The 17 year boy witnesses the death of one of the girls, starting decades of chaos for the 17 year old boy and the teenage girl.

As the story speeds up Perini introduces a corrupt sheriff, an undercover deputy sheriff, a criminal connected to organized crime, a helicopter pilot, kidnapping the pilot's 16 year old sister, several missing teens who are computer brainiacs, a snitch, and a computer game as pieces of the "Game of Fear" puzzle.

The key protagonists Gabe Montgomery and Deb Lansing enter Perini's story. She gives her readers all of their history and continue the development of these two determined characters until the find what they are looking for. Each of the support characters enter the plot and Perini provides their back story as needed. It is hard to determine which of the antagonists is more corrupt or evil; readers will have to decide for themselves.

This is a fast paced murder mystery that involves many side trips in the world of crime. Readers see murders, kidnappings, torture, manipulation of people, and cyber-crime so scary you will have read "Game of Fear" to know how everything comes together. This mystery will keep you at the edge of your seat until you get to the ending. Readers will enjoy Perini's creative style and cutting edge thinking. "Game of Fear" by Robin Perini earns a 5 star ranking and a must read recommendation.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

This is the 3rd in the Montgomery brothers series, I read and enjoyed the first one months ago. I haven't read the 2nd one yet, as I hadn't seen any info about it.

Deb Lansing is a helicopter rescue pilot who goes to Gabe Montgomery for help when her younger sister, Ashley, disappears. No one but Gabe believes that she is missing, and as Deb and Gabe begin to investigate they find a series of exceptionally smart kids have been reported missing. The further they investigate, the more they realize how many people are tangled up in the mysterious disappearances and how long it has been going on.

Game of Fear was a great book. A really good storyline with a game at the core of the disappearances. A cast of great characters that are really likable. The Montgomery brothers are all strong and good guys who take care of the people around them. Deb and Ashley are strong willed women who don't give up, even when things are looking bleak.

I highly recommend this book, and series, to fans of romantic suspense. It's well written and has a great story. It really kept my attention the whole time. I look forward to reading more in this series!!

What do you do when your super smart little sister disappears and the only clue is a note, you are 100% sure your sister didn't write?

If you're Deb Lansing, you go ask for help from the good looking, former cop, bartender. When Deb's little sister Ashley disappears, this tough as nails, former Army pilot teams up with Gabe Montgomery to find her sister.

Gabe is currently working undercover, but when Deb comes to him for help, he'll do anything to help the woman he's been crushing on for months. Soon, Gabe learns that his investigation is intertwined with Ashley's disappearance and a murder that happened many years ago on the night his father fell from grace.

Deb and Gabe end up running for their lives, trying to stop a major conspiracy and save the day. The story was good, the characters, despite their very over the top skills were likable. The only thing thing that I did not like, is that we don't get enough details on the villain; here he is pulling what could be considered the greatest crime in history and we know nothing about him other than he like Gucci. If you like action packed, crime solving books, you should check this one out.

When is a game not a game? When winning the game destroys real people, places, and real situations! But, how do you the player, a computer geek/hacker come to realize that this game is absolutely not only real, but is capable of destroying your world and everything in between! Thanks for another great read.

This book was fine, but I was kind of bored.

Deb’s sister goes missing so she goes to Gabe for help. At the same time, Gabe is investigating the corruption in the local police. It felt like because there were these two story lines, neither was overly developed so I wasn’t really interested in either.

I didn’t really dislike Deb or Gabe, but I didn’t really like them either. They constantly blame themselves for everything and it continued until the end. Also, I thought that Deb should have stopped letting her father treat her the way he did, but that’s never really talked about.

There were scenes from other people’s POVs (Ashley’s, Ernie’s, the bad guy’s), and I didn’t find them particularly interesting.

There were other characters like Gabe’s family, but they weren’t shown enough. Also, a common theme in this series is that the family is supposedly close, but in each book it turns out that actually they know nothing about each other because of all the secrets they’re keeping.

I might still try other books by this author as even though this book was a bit boring, I liked the previous books in the series.

This is Gabe’s story...he’s left SWAT due to his injured leg and now owns a bar...exceeept, it’s not all that it seems. See, Gabe is working undercover to bring down the crooked sheriff and his bad minions...as well as the crime boss...no biggie. Meanwhile, he is harboring a ‘thing’ for the life flight pilot who saved his life. Deb Lansing is ex-army w some baggage...guilt over lost comrades. She too has a ‘thing’. When Deb’s sister goes missing, and cops believe that she’s just a runaway, she turns to Gabe for help. Their investigation leads them up against some powerful opponents. Gabe is also hiding a HUGE secret from his family...a secret that has something to do w his dearly departed dad. Will Gabe and Deb find Ashley before it’s too late? Will Gabe’s undercover operation be exposed? Whew...lots of action in this one...actually think this was my fave so far. The ending was good but felt a bit too abrupt...I have questions darn-nit! Lol
Looking forward to the next book.

I liked this book and is my first read of Robin Perini. Deb and Ashley are pretty kickass. I appreciate female characters in this genre that can hold their own and aren't bogged down with their baggage.

Based on the book descriptions, it seemed like they were fairly stand-alone books that happen to have overlapping characters. However, there is definitely a story arc that covers all three, so I was a little lost at a few points.

Love the Montgomerys

There are secrets revealed but still some unanswered. Deb is determined to find her little sister with or without help. Gabe has been keeping a secret from his brothers for several years. The Montgomerys believe in right from wrong and doing what is needed to save the innocent. Deb needs them more than ever now because they need to stop a greedy psychopath, which by the way, just have government backing.

Non-stop action, could not put this down!!

Second book I've read by this author, and now my new favorite! Loved the Montgomery family, how they stick together, fiercely guarding each other's backs, but the razzing is endearing too. Ashley was so wicked smart, and Deb so fearless! Incredible ladies!!

I didn’t care for the last half of this book, which was a disappointment, for i
had thought it was a good series, and recommended the series to others.
This last part with the killing and treatment of the kids was too much and
the sex didn’t need to be in either. Did favorable reviews on books 1-2.

A comfort read

These books always take me out of a book slump or hangover. Are they literary masterpieces, no but they are comfy and intriguing like an episode of your favorite crime drama during the season where the romantic leads finally start romancing it's just so endearing to me and I'll always love this type of novel for that reason alone.

Excellent choice that includes love of family , romance and highly technological conspiracy.

The ending was stretched out a bit and should have covered more characters. But it is well worth reading and I enjoyed it.

Fast paced action/ romantic suspense.

Another fast paced action/ romantic suspense installment of the Montgomery Justice series. It would stand alone but if you read them in order you would understand the family dynamics better. Great characters and a good ending.

Robin perini-

Robin perini- too similar to first book. Same antagonisms between male & female characters, interesting but far fetched mystery story. To unbelievable. But resolution: you know they will get together!
