5 stars!!!

 photo e22f176a-a630-439d-90e3-67a6f7e37a87_zps7b9862b6.jpg

Jimmy Ferris… the lead singer of Stage Dive. David’s older brother. The guy in the group who's in and out of rehab. I don’t care that Jimmy is kind of a train wreck and a grouchy s.o.b. most of the time, I’ve still been excited to read his book! And it lived up to my expectations. For me, it was the best so far!

 photo af24cefb-7f8a-4b67-b63e-6e2ef34d4162_zps2685f080.jpg

Jimmy has been in a bad place for a while. To stay in the band, he’s gotta stay clean and keep it together. So the band decides he needs an assistant (aka a ‘sober companion’) and thats where Lena comes in. Lena has some things going on in her personal life that make it easy to just take off and be Jimmy’s 24/7 companion. They butt heads at first, but only because both of them are strong willed. One of my favorite things about Lena is she doesn’t take all the crap Jimmy throws at her. She has a backbone. She keeps him in line, but really only wants what is best for him.
“I am on your side. Always.”

Jimmy and Lena end up spending a lot of time together. It’s part of the job. While thats happening, it’s impossible for Lena not to notice Jimmy. She doesn’t just notice his looks, but she see’s the real guy underneath the facade. And she likes what she sees.

 photo 144a57d7-361f-4c3a-b8a2-d1faf6030408_zps6b4caa0a.jpg

The back and forth banter between these two was great!
“So, Lena, darling, tell me, for curiosity’s sake. When do you put out?”

I stepped closer, going toe to toe with him. He got worried then, the dimples disappearing and his forehead creasing. So he fucking should.

“Jimmy, my love,” I said, my voice soft and sweet. “I don’t fuck a guy until he has the balls to actually man up and talk to me about his feelings.”

Lena is by far the best heroine in the Stage Dive series. I love a strong and sassy girl. The fact that she is who she is and owns it makes me love her even more. It takes someone really special to deal with a guy like Jimmy. Lets face it- he’s got issues. But Lena is the perfect girl for the job. She doesn’t let her feelings for him get in the way when it comes to his well being or sobriety. I loved how she owned up to them early on. That couldn’t have been an easy thing to do. She is pretty kick ass. The way her feelings grew for Jimmy, and how hard it was for him to express himself… I really felt for Lena.

 photo b82802a2-9a45-48ab-8277-9bb3da512799_zps829466f7.jpg

Jimmy appears to be your typical rockstar/leading man. He’s into drugs and women, he’s hot, he’s cocky, and lets face it… he is all that. But he’s so much more. Jimmy’s past hurt my heart. It makes sense why he turned to some of those things. Jimmy is the type of guy who takes things from him past and locks them inside. He doesn’t let many people in. Lena is one of the few that get to see glimpses of the real Jimmy. I admire him for trying to turn his life around. He’s moody, broken and sometimes a pain in the ass, but I still love Jimmy!

Watching Lena and Jimmy’s relationship grow and develop was great. I loved how it took time. It wasn’t rushed or instant. You saw the progression and the changes in both of them. They started at an employee/employer, then became friends, then… the sparks started flying. And once they do… hot damn. Be prepared for some sexy times. Jimmy’s got a bit of a dirty mouth and their time together was a great combination of passionate and naughty.

Every book in this series has been fantastic for me, but this is my favorite by far. A wonderful mix of humor, emotion, and steam. There were so many Lena and Jimmy scenes that touched my heart , so many lines that made me laugh and just the right amount of sexy. Kylie Scott is an awesome writer and she knows how to do rock stars right! There are only so many rock star books you can read before they start to get a bit redundant, but not this series. The stories and characters are original and fun and the writing is terrific. I was thoroughly engaged while reading this one.

I love the assholes. I can’t help it. But even more than that, I love the assholes that have big hearts underneath it all. That’s Jimmy. And as much as I’ve raved about Lena, you can tell I loved her too. I think it’s going to be hard for the next book to top this one, but I’m sure it will. Looking forward to Ben’s story!

5 God damn mother-fucking rock stars Stars

He always seemed so polished, so perfect, you could almost ignore the chaos and pain living inside of him.

I kid you not, this series only gets better with each new book. I had some high hopes for Jimmy's story, and Kylie Scott not only managed to meet them but blow them out of the water.

See, here's the thing. I have this thing for almost nonredeemable bad boy assholes. If they just happen to be almost nonredeemable rock star bad boy assholes? All the better. It's a condition that I have recently diagnosed as AssholeLustitis. True story.

Enter Jimmy Ferris, the lead singer of Stage Dive, recovering addict, and all around giant dick (pun most definitely intended)
This was Jimmy is all his glory, rude as fuck and not a single social nicety to him.

Having scared off most of his assistants and outright refusing a sobriety companion, Jimmy needs someone. And his band mates think they have just the ticket to what he needs when they meet Lena. So they make her an offer she can't refuse. Be Jimmy's 24hr companion, live in his house, oh and earn pretty much double what she's currently earning as an assistant to the band's manager.

Lena is used to dealing with assholes. She's sassy, quit witted, sharp-tongued and in 2 words? Fucking awesome. Her internal monologue had me laughing throughout the entire book.
I'm so tempted to just punch you in the junk right now and be done with it. I mean, it has to happen sooner or later, right?"

Whoops...sorry. Got carried away there. See the thing is, Lena was such a great heroine it was impossible not to root for her. The banter between the two was some of the best I've read. I'm talking laugh out loud funny. I'm talking wanting to reach through your kindle to fist bump her funny.
Do you actually expect me to jump around like an idiot?"
"It would amuse me."
"Don't make me kill you at this hour of the morning, Jimmy. It's not civilized."

Lena has no issues dealing with Jimmy's broody, moody, and general assholness. Yes, assholness is not really a word, but work with me here. The problem begins when she starts to develop feelings for the asshole. And given her history with men? Well, let's just say the cards are not exactly stacked in her favor.
I have in my time dated a cheater, a thief, a repressed homosexual, a foot fetishist, and various men who just wanted a chance to meet my sister."
"Why's the foot fetishist so bad?"
"Always with the strappy high heels. My toes were killing me."

Jimmy knows he's no good for anyone and certainly not worthy of anyone's love. So he sets out to dissuade Lena of her crush and prove to her just how bad he is for her. Too bad he can't stop the sizzling chemistry that brews between them.

Lena may be incredibly attracted to Jimmy, but that doesn't mean she turns a blind eye to his more...let's go with faults.
His smile, oh god his smile, I wanted to wipe it off his face with a pickaxe. I'd be gentle, you could trust me.

Ummmm...alrighty then

Let's not forget about the rest of the band mates, because I loved catching up with all the guys. I actually think this is how I prefer Mal...in small doses...in someone else's book. He was just full of great advise here.
Interesting. I'm going to tell you what I told Killer at puppy training today when he tried to mount a teacup poodle he'd only just met. If she means something to you, you gotta do the woo, son. You can't just be trying to stick it in.

Or not. Maybe? Whatever. For Mal this was practically genius.

Kylie Scott did a phenomenal job in building an almost unbearable sexual tension. I'm talking the burn of all burns here. But it was perfect for the story. I really don't think it would have been as good had they been thrown into bed together too soon. And when Jimmy finally gives in to the scorching hot chemistry between them? Let's just say he REALLY doesn't disappoint.
He ate me like a man deprived, starved.
He ate me like I was his favorite meal.
Vaguely related, apparently singers had excellent tongue control and strength. Bless them for that, many, many times over.

Right...I think I heard this in a song once too

So let's sum it up here; gorgeous lead singer of a popular band, asshole with redeemable qualities, and then there are his OTHER qualities...
I stared at his cock, mesmerized. Even encased in rubber it remained a thing of true beauty. Had I any talent with a pen, I'd have written it poems. A haiku perhaps.
"Lena?"
I was hypnotized, helpless. Cock-struck.

It was a thing of beauty. Didn't hurt that he happened to be packing quite the love sword, huh?

You lucky bitch.

Jimmy may be on the road to recovery and he does his best to get Lena to stay as his assistant, but that doesn't mean he doesn't fuck up. And when he does it? He certainly does it thoroughly.
Stupid Jimmy Ferris and his amazing mouth and penis. Who needed him? Not me, I could look after myself.
That's why god invented vibrators, thank you very much. Masturbation was so much safer. My fingers never gave me this sort of trouble.

So why even put up with his shit?

Oh shut it, Jimmy. No one asked you. It's true, but still.

Throw in Jimmy and David's crazy mother, Jimmy's issues, and Lena's luck with men and you got yourself an addicting, unputdownable, laugh out loud, entertaining and sexy read. Kylie Scott truly has outdone herself with this book. It had everything and in just the right amount. The banter, the sexual chemistry, the sex, the story. EVERYTHING. And that little teaser at the end for Ben? Gah! I just may die a little waiting for his book to come out.

So if you're looking for a sexy and funny rock star romance, you really need to look no further than this. Seriously. Read it. You'll thank me for it. And I thank you

1/22/24 Another re-read

11/20/15 Re-re-read

So now that I think I've read this about 10 times I realize that I must like it a lot more than I originally thought.

It's like a sneak attack book.

description

I mean, why else would I keep coming back to it?

Something about the way Jimmy comes after her in the end. It's a pretty good substitute for a good grovel in my book.

And I dig it.

description

So fuck it, 5-star upgrade!

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Re-read 10/13/14...And my thoughts are pretty much still the same. Still a decent read though!

Original Review:

3.5 to LOW 4 Stars

This was a decent read, but quite honestly, it did not meet my super high (probably unrealistic) expectations for this book.

description

In fact, it took me a long time to decide what I wanted to rate it. I finally went with a low 4/3.5, but that is only in the context of the series as a whole. If this had been a standalone...

I don't know. I can't really even put a finger on why I didn't love it.

On to Ben!

2.5--Emotionless--Stars!!!

In the words of Mal....

"If she means something to you, you gotta do the woo, son. You can’t just be trying to stick it in.”

Jimmy had absolutely NO woo! None. Zero. Zilch.

I know I am in the minority here but I did not like this one at all. Everything about this one felt completely emotionless.

I actually like Lena in the prologue. She seemed like she would be fun, and sarcastic, and snarky. She wouldn't take shit from Jimmy. Because lord son, did he dish out some shit.

And I don't think it helped that the story just sort of picks up in the middle of everything. And then one hug changes everything. That must have been some hug.

Now Lena is completely love sick for Jimmy. And he doesn't reciprocate those feelings at all. In fact, Jimmy tries to help her move on from those feelings.

"...date other people, focus on your flaws, don’t be pathetic, and get a life, etcetera.”

So Jimmy and Lena continue on this charade. Lena tries to go on some dates. Jimmy intervenes every step of the way.

I found Jimmy incredibly annoying at this point. I didn't even enjoy the banter between them. Jimmy gets jealous, but won't admit it. Blah, blah, blah....

Which brings us to Point #5 in the mission to help Lena move on from Jimmy.

“We fuck.”

“Why not? I see it as a win-win situation. I get to release some of my frustration and you get to release any lingering feelings messing with your head. We fuck, we see we don’t have chemistry, we move on. Or even better, everything falls apart like it normally does and you’re happy just going back to being friends. What do you say?"

“Sure, why not?”

Uh....okay. And the lack of emotions continues. And I have to wonder what the hell Lena even sees in Jimmy! But whatever. I didn't even care about the lack of sex up to this point.

Yes, they FINALLY have sex! Hallelujer! But then after they have sex asshole Jimmy returns.

We have some more sex, followed by some more back and forth between Jimmy and Lena. Still haven't felt any real feelings between them yet. And then....Lean throws down the L bomb!

“I love you, Jimmy.”
Silence.
Absolute, dead silence.

Clearly Jimmy isn't feeling the same way....but that's okay. Lena doesn't mind. We have some more sex and then Lena decides she just can't keep up this emotionless, one-sided charade and tells Jimmy they have to keep things professional.

Guess who's back....asshole Jimmy!

Now it's grovel time. Jimmy dude, you seriously need to work on your groveling skills. This is his response to Lena being in love with him.

“Well, I don’t mind that you feel that way. It’s all right. You come back with me and work for me again, and we can keep fucking. It can even be exclusive if that’s what you want, okay?”

How thoughtful of you Jimmy, to agree to be exclusive...if that's what Lena wants! *sigh* Lena practically had to talk Jimmy in to being in love with her. I really did not feel an ounce of love or emotion between these two.

So now I'm going to go run and hide....

“Sometimes,” said Ev, throwing an arm around my neck. “You just have to follow Jimmy’s lead.”
“Are you insane? He’ll lead me straight to hell.”

Lena (h) and Jimmy (H) were so cute together omg i love them. Jimmy was so grumpy and such an adorable asshole. Lena has to be my fav heroine from this series, bc she’s doesn’t take shit from Jimmy, even when she has a crush on him. Their grumpy-sunshine dynamic reminded me a little of Gabriel & Sophie from Managed and that trope rarely fails me. Jimmy and Lena were bickering like an old married couple the whole time.

“Your nose is cold,” he bitched.
“Quiet. You’re ruining the mood.”
“There is no mood. You’re acting crazy is all.” Downstairs people were talking, the muted beating of drums, but nothing mattered more than here and now. “We done yet?” he asked.
“No.”
“One more minute, then that’s it, Lena.”
“Two.” He exhaled hard. “I better not have to do this every month from now on.”

I love how Lena wanted to quit as Jimmy’s assistant & sobriety companion, because she had feelings for him and when she told him, he made a whole guide on how to get over him by telling her to follow that list of how to get over him. 😂  that plan was the dumbest thing I’ve read, but so hilarious, bc we all knew it wouldn’t work since Lena and Jimmy spend so much time together with him setting her on date, but cockblocking her dates at the same time or Jimmy getting Lena to get more healthy and forcing her to run with him. (ew for that idea btw, if I’d be Lena my crush for Jimmy would evaporate the day he’d forced me to go running at the crack of dawn 😭)

“It’s my fucking house and you work for me. It is not okay for you to be carrying on with him during business hours. Where the fuck is the respect? You’re on my time then and you damn well know it. It’s absolute bullshit. You’re both completely out of line. I pay you, you’re my assistant, and he’s got the fucking gall to try something with you behind my back in my house. He has no business touching you ever. I don’t want to see that shit happening again, he’s to stay away from you. The pussy didn’t even stand up for you, Lena. Did you notice that? I don’t know what the hell you’re thinking of having anything to do with the little dickhead.”

We love to see a jealous Jimmy who is losing it, because Lena was holding HANDS with someone Jimmy actually set her up with. In this house, we love it when plans backfire. 😌

“I want to kiss you, Jimmy. I’ve wanted to for forever. Kiss me?” Brows drawn down, he gave me a frown instead. “Come here, it’s okay.” I grabbed the front of his T-shirt, pulling him forward. “It’s just me.” He gave a bare inch or two.
“I’m just not that into it. It’s not a big deal, everyone likes different shit, you know?”
“I know.” I drew him a little closer. “I just, I need to know what your lips taste like.”

Jimmy Ferris and Christian Allister can open their little support group of hating kissing in general, but loving kissing the right girl. 🥺👉👈

“I’m healthy. I eat fruit.”
“In pie doesn’t count.”

I feel attacked by this conversation. Deducting points from Jimmy for saying that. The disrespect for fruits in pie. 😤

“Fire me, Jimmy.” My smile must have looked every bit as bitter as it tasted. “Send me away.” Someone said something but it passed right by me, unheard. There was only me and him. “You know you want to,” I said. “It’d be so much simpler if I wasn’t here.”
“Shut the fuck up, Lena.”
“Go on,” I urged, leaning forward. “No time like the present, right? Do it.” A muscle jumped in his jaw line. “DO IT.”
His chin jerked.
Done.

The book went so well until the conflict. I liked and hated the ‘break-up scene’ at the same time, but the more I think about it, it’s more towards hate. Like because I love the pain when Jimmy was so cold towards Lena and how Lena dared him to fire her. That shit hurts so good. But that conflict was so unnessecary when Jimmy said she needed a new date for her sister’s wedding, cause he would visit Liv (OW) and would be busy 💀 sir– this is the most shittiest thing you’ve said all book long. I was so pissed.

Everything after the conflict was SO rushed and ruined this book a little for me. I didn’t like how Jimmy only realized he loves Lena when she pointed it out to him that he loves her after his speech.. that realization should have come from himself after how he fucked up. All Jimmy had to say was that he loves her and all was forgiven?! Nah I don’t like this. I need to have at least a bit of grovel and more pain. 🤡

What I wouldn’t do to have Jimmy’s POV in this book.. I’m dying to know what he thought in some of these scenes. Except the last 10% that were meh, Jimmy and Lena didn’t disappoint me and Lead was fun to read. I’m having a good time with this series so far. 🙏

Okay, the secret is out!!!!
 photo -Otra-Tour-one-direction-38126069-500-281_zpsrq8olgyu.gif

I AM A STAGE DIVE GROUPIE!!!!!!
I have an obsessive adoration for these sexy rockers since the time I read Lick, the 1st book in Kylie Scott’s sweet, sexy and funny rockstar romance series. I fell in love with David and Mal……Jimmy Ferris, the lead singer…wait, this guy was so not “nice” when I first met him………but, WOW!!!!! Was I surprised with his story, Lead, the 3rd book.

Never mind falling in love with Jimmy…….I freaking adored him!!!! This is a gorgeous man!!!
I know…..gushing and star-struck and a total crush on Jimmy! Yep, that’s me!!
 photo 15111898942_e46d32419f_m_zpsalkgyl6f.jpg

THE STORYLINE

Jimmy Ferris, Stage Dive’s lead singer’s life has reached rock bottom. Overdosing on booze, drugs, sex…..He has been given an ultimatum…get your act together or you’re out!!! Out of rehab, he’s trying to keep clean and get back on track.

Lena Morrissey is fed up with most things in her life. She’s tired of dating shallow and stupid men and always falling for the wrong guy. She needs a new and fresh start and that could be the new job offer she has been given.
Her responsibility is to be a kind of sobriety companion/live-in assistant/babysitter to Jimmy Ferris….

Soon their working relationship begins to change into something more and we see how these two opposite characters work through all the drama and the emotional baggage they carry and have to overcome if they are ever to get together.

THE HERO & HEROINE

Jimmy FerrisHe’s gorgeous, sexy, talented, difficult, spoilt, always gets his way with anything he wants, vain and a loner who doesn’t allow anyone close to him.
 photo erkek-ic-camasiri_525565_zpscs120vtg.jpg
But that’s how he deals with his inner demons.

Abandoned by his parents early in his life, he has closed off any feeling of emotions. He fights getting to close anyone, even those he loves. We see his vulnerability at Mal’s mother’s funeral. She was the person who saved and loved him and David, his brother, when the two were abandoned by their mother. She was a person he loved and her death left a huge hole in his life. The story he tells at her funeral was so heartbreaking and shows us the real Jimmy.

Lena MorrisseyThis is the kind of heroine I adore. She’s attractive and a bit “curvy” but is not obsessed with her looks, she’s cute, caring, funny, sassy, appealing and lovable but takes no shit from anyone. She says what she thinks and feels. I loved the scene where she tells Jimmy of her feelings about men in general…
 photo gap_zpsa5hatgkr.jpg
She’s the kind of woman I could be really good friends with!! There would never be a dull moment in our lives!!! I loved her honesty….telling Jimmy that she’s fallen in love with him and is unsure how their situation will work with him not feeling the same. Boy that took courage!

THE RELATIONSHIP

What worked for me was how Jimmy and Lena’s relationship progressed and grew over time and not an insta-love one. We see the development and the changes from employee/employer to becoming friends to lovers. The sexual tension, the emotional connection and growing to trust each other slowly unfolds filled with the two discovering who they were…………

One of the funniest parts in the story is seeing Jimmy offering to help Lena get over him when he sees Lena reading a magazine article titled Guide to Getting Over Him.
He arranges blind dates for her and the results are a total laugh. Beyond hilarious. Their “debriefings” were a pleasure to read…..
 photo IvC4vBzHCbg_zpstugndvml.jpg
And when the sexual tension becomes unbearable? More than sparks flying!!!
 photo tumblr_mq9fysIbFs1s0zzoqo1_500_zpsrboptdum.gif
It’s hot, passionate, sexy, sizzling and with some naughty bits thrown in!!!
 photo KIRrT2xd2AM_zpsbnp5kvwb.jpg
Lena was really the shining light in Jimmy’s life….she loved him, she cared for him even when Jimmy struggled with opening up to her. She knew he didn’t love her like she did him and that he loved her as a friend…..but regardless, she would not give up on him…
 photo Copy20of20lovewallpaper32_zpsu4vramuj.jpg
Lena was definitely my favorite character in this book, if not in the series. There was something about her that drew you to her. I know I’ve said it all before….but let me say it again…….she’s an AWESOME person. And thank heavens Jimmy finally opened his eyes and saw the person he wanted to spend his life with.
 photo images_zps31yzmjbz.jpg
Watching Lena and Jimmy’s relationship grow and develop was great. I loved how it took time. It wasn’t rushed or instant. You saw the progression and the changes in both of them. They started at an, then became friends, then… the sparks started flying. And once they do… hot damn. Be prepared for some sexy times. Jimmy’s got a bit of a dirty mouth and their time together was a great combination of passionate and naughty.

CHARACTERS
The character development is fantastic. We have seen the changes, the conflicts and the growth that the band has gone through.

One of the things that I love about this series is how the author makes her characters feel so real. These are people who you could be friends with…yes, I know they’re rockstars but they seem like attainable people….like your next door neighbor, like one of your friends. Like…just NORMAL PEOPLE!!

How refreshing to see the kind of the women the band is with. Not the usual vacant and size 000 supermodels but women who are real, down to earth with no pretensions.

The interaction between the characters is nicely done with some of the most humorous banter.
Their connection, their love, their loyalty and their bond with each other is a joy to see.

The depiction of David and Jimmy’s mother was something else!!! What a character! One of those that I just love to hate. Another was Lena’s sister. Wow, talk about an insensitive and stupid woman!

And not forgetting Killer, the puppy!!
“Interesting. I'm going to tell you what I told Killer at puppy training today when he tried to mount a teacup poodle he'd only just met. If she means something to you, you gotta do the woo, son. You can't just be trying to stick it in.

THE WRITING

I love the author’s writing style and voice. It’s unique, smooth and flowing making it easy reading.
The dialogue is absolutely amazing. I could hear it in my mind….it felt as if I was listening in to the characters conversations.
 photo ee9ca0b2-8d1d-4cde-a73f-6ae6aaa7b414_zpsoyqbutu4.png
AND FINALLY
If you love rock stars that are endearing, lovable and totally relatable…….READ THIS SERIES!!!!
I can’t wait to get stuck into Ben’s story next in book #4, Deep.

I leave you with this message….never mind that it may be a spoiler….of course everyone knows that in love and romance, this is true……..

Title: Lead
Series: Stage Dive #3
Author: Kylie Scott
Release Date: July 29, 2014
Rating: 5 ++ stars
Cliffhanger:. No
HEA:

I’ve been sitting here all day staring at the blank page and trying to put in words how amazing was Kylie Scott newest addition in Stage Dive Series; how much fun I had while reading it, how perfectly sweet, dynamic and intense Lena and Jimmy’s story was. Well, it’s not an easy task to accomplish – I feel that writing down ‘I loved it’ is not enough. The awesomeness of Lead just cannot be sufficiently described . So yeah, I had a really hard time writing this review; I wanted to be at least 50% as fantastic as the book was. I’m still sure though, it’s not even 5% of it, but I hope you’ll get the memo: BUY AND READ LEAD. NOW.

After Jimmy hit the rock bottom and the band decided to put an ultimatum on him, stay sober or get out of the band, the lead vocalist had no choice – he had to pick up the pieces of his broken life or guys, who were like his family, would leave him alone.

Afterward successful few months in rehab Jimmy is back in band but Stage Dive members make him hire ‘sobriety companion’. Someone who will be almost like assistant, making sure Jimmy doesn’t drink or gets high.

This was Jimmy is all his glory, rude as fuck and not a single social nicety to him.

When Jimmy’s bad attitude toward his companions made them all leave, boys hired spunky, full of sass and wit Lena. A woman that doesn’t take Jimmy’s shit and keeps him in check with her sharp tongue. The banter between two main characters started immediately and the sparks flew everywhere.

“Why are you two always kicking each other?” Ben asked, interrupting the heated looks. “Just out of interest?”

Jimmy shrugged. “Everyone has their hobbies, Ben.”

Lena quickly found out Jimmy’s more than s.o.b and sobering junkie; she saw the real him; gentle and fragile man, talented musician and good friend. She started caring for him much more than she should.

“I’d been ‘in love’ before, sure. The difference here was, I loved him, all of him, and there’d be no easy getting over it this time. Every part of me wanted him, I yearned for him on the cellular level. There could be no escaping emotions of this magnitude. His good and bad, dark and light, his nice parts and his nasty.
Everything he was, I loved, and it left me feeling utterly helpless.”

Jimmy knows he’s not man worthy of a girl like Lena. So he tries to do everything in his power to make her stop crushing on him… But so far the chemistry sizzles and their relationship develops even more.

After reading two previous books in Scott’s series, which of course I loved, I wasn’t sure if the author could beat them. Yet, it was the best in the series so far!

I was smitten with Mal and Dave, so I was sure I couldn’t love other member of the band more than them. But shortly after I properly met Jimmy Ferries, the vocalist of Stage Dive, I was not smitten, I was head over heels in love with that man!

Didn’t matter that most of the time, Jimmy was total asshole and freakin’ jerk; that he threw tantrums worse than five year old or that he was out and in rehab… repeatedly. After seeing his softer, ‘normal’ persona, I was all over him like fungus. I totally could understand Lena and her fascination with him.

But even more than I loved Jimmy, I loved Lena. She was the best heroine EVER. So sassy and so full of light, Lena completely stole the show. She made this book shine. Her backbone, wittiness and… her good heart. Wow, I have the biggest girl crush on her!

An arm shot out, wrapping around my neck, pulling me in against him. His whole body trembled.
“You okay?” I asked.
A nod.
“Feeling a little emotional, huh?” I petted his hair. “That’s okay. It was an emotional blow job.”

I can honestly say that I loved every tiny detail. This book have blown me away. The plot was so good, and my love for the characters so strong; I laughed like crazy, I swooned even more, and God, did I melt my panties!

Lead is purely a novel you have to read. No excuses, no wasting time – it’s worth it!

Well fuck me sideways I fell for the raving reviews again. After seeing five star review after five star review, I got a little curious. All these glowing reviews made me think I was missing out on something great.

description

I was very hesitant to start his book because I'm not a fan of womanizers or rock stars and in the end that wasn't even my biggest problem with this book! I'll just discuss everything I hated, so spoilers below!

This book is about a glorified babysitter having an unrequited crush on an ex-addict lead singer of a band with mommy issues. Jimmy has hit rock bottom and needs someone with him at all times to make sure he doesn't turn to drugs or alcohol. Lena is hired because of her smart-aleck mouth to babysit him.

***

- This man-child annoyed me to no end from the beginning of the book. I could immediately tell he needs maturing up and after reading the whole book I can say that that doesn't happen. He was the king of assholes and from other reviews it seems like most women did not mind it, but I do not tolerate assholes.

- The heroine, Lena, starts lusting after him after he shows a little vulnerability. It was ridiculous. All of a sudden she cannot stop staring at him and basically turns into a middle-schooler with a crush. All that was left was writing their initials in hearts and daydreaming about their future babies.

- Do you wanna know the moment when I decided that I hated these two? When Lena tries to quit and Jimmy explodes and wants to know why and she confesses that she has feelings for him. Know what he does after finding that out? He fucking laughs in her face. The all-out belly laugh with even a few tears. And then he basically tells her she is going nowhere and says, "Whatever the real deal is here, sort it out. I get that you're embarrassed, but you'll just have to get over it okay?" What the fuck? And instead of telling him where to stick it and walking out on his bullshit she ends up staying!

- Usually when I'm reading romance novels I'm always half scared of cheating or other woman/man because that ruins it for me but I don't think I have ever wanted the heroine to go date another man as much as I was hoping Lena would! I just found Lena so fucking pathetic and wanted her to go out and have crazy monkey sex with a stranger since Jimmy could not make it any clearer that he was not interested in her.

- So then Jimmy decides that Lena needs to "get over" her stupid crush and proceeds to help her by fixing her up on dates! But his subconscious doesn't seem to like the idea and he tries to sabotage her dates. Lena finally goes on a date with Ben (another band member) and what does Jimmy do? He fucking chaperones it. I was just banging my head at this point. Jimmy was so fucking annoying, I wanted to smack him. And people like this crap?

description

- So now the book is basically about her unrequited crush and Jimmy trying to help her get rid of it.

description

- Let's talk about the first sex scene. It happens around 70% and this is when I started skimming the book because I could not take it any more. Jimmy decides that since dating other people didn't help Lena the next best thing is to have sex so they could get each other out of their systems. You could just feel the romance pouring out of this man. He's basically like, "Let's fuck," and Lena was like, "Okay." No joke! That was literally how it happened! And after they fuck he leaves her lying on the kitchen counter like some two-dollar hooker. Lena gets mad for half a day and forgives him after he buys her an expensive camera she had her eyes on. I was just so over it at this point.

description

- Where the fuck is your dignity Lena!? Pick it up off the ground, dust it off, and move the fuck on! Being Jimmy's "occasional hookup partner" is not what you want or deserve. She put up with too much bullshit and Jimmy was SO not worth it.

- Jimmy was in denial that he could ever love Lena until the bitter fucking end. His mother apparently did a real good number on him by saying that no one would ever love him. That's it. That's the motherfucking reason why he put them both through so much bullshit. Because his drugged out mother once said that no one would ever love him. Fuck me.

As much as I hated this story, I could not put it down. I stayed up until 5AM finishing it because I just had to know how it ended. I wanted to see Jimmy pull the stick out of his ass and sadly that did not happen. I have not read the previous books and nor will I read any future books. I am so done with this series.

P.S. Never settle, ladies. Know your worth.

Jimmy - lead singer of Stage Dive, manwhore, ex-addict, hot head...need I go on? And Lena - sarcastic, tough, heartbroken searcher...how can these two possibly end up together? Well, read on my friends, it's quite a ride.

Another highly anticipated book from KS...my mind went every other place but how she wrote Jimmy. I have to say that I was nervous especially with how Mal's book was handled but we lucked out with this one. Jimmy was exactly how I thought he would be except the sweetness and that's where KS blew me away.

Jimmy is one tough cookie though...and with good reason. And exactly what he needed was another tough cookie that could break through his barriers.

Lena was pretty amazing with how she handled Jimmy even though I was a bit disappointed in her. I think with only getting her POV, we got too much of her true feelings. I liked her being the tough chick and it was hard reading how vulnerable she was especially after all she's gone through.

description

It was also hard reading about all the rejection and on top of that Jimmy tries to help her get over him by following a list in a magazine that Lena was reading!! He gets her involved with hobbies, exercise, friends and sets her up on dates - even if he does tag along. It's very apparent that Jimmy is in love with her...well, to everyone but Lena and Jimmy.

And let me tell you....things get really HOT when the list gets to #5!! Jimmy goes to town...literally! And Poor Lena is just a puddle of goo...not that I blame her. The kissing thing was both sweet and awkward but thank goodness Jimmy is a fast learner.

Emotionally, this book didn't quite pack it for me. It tries to go there, it just doesn't go far enough. I was hoping for something more like David's book, Lick, that one really tore me up.

Special kudos must go to Mal. He is BACK!! He was simply A-mazing in this book! He definitely provided all the comedic relief that was needed and then some. I can't wait for the "event" for him and Anne.

Overall, I liked Jimmy and Lena together and I loved the ending especially with having an epilogue. The next book is set up a little for Ben and I'm hoping Lizzy.

**posted before review: 3/31 excerpt:

“You’re doing it again!” Jimmy stopped mid push-up, sweat dripping off his handsome face. “I’m not imagining it. You’re fucking doing it again.”
“Hmm?” I replied calmly, sitting at the kitchen counter. Black and white Italian marble. Only the best would do for Jimmy. His house was expensively luxuriously austere. Three levels of stark grey walls on the outside and black and white décor within. It basically looked like a post-modernist had thrown up in here and the decorator decided to call it a day. As if a splash of color would kill anyone.
“You are looking at me weird all the time.”
“No, I’m sorting your email. A different thing entirely.” I pried my gaze off his hot (in every sense of the word) body and returned it to the laptop. “Oh, look. Lingerie Girl has sent you another picture. A demi-bra this time. Hot pink with tassels. I think the tassels are a nice touch. She’s even attached a video of her making them swing. So thoughtful.”
“Delete it.”
“But what if she says something important?”
“She’s a complete stranger sending me pictures of herself nearly naked dancing and bending over furniture.”
I hummed. “Yes, today we have a washing machine. Very sexy in a domestic erotica sort of way. A powerful statement about feminism, I think. This woman is deep.”
“Right.” He resumed his exercising. “This woman is not gonna say anything I need to hear.”
I watched. “Some of your fans are loco. Luckily, others are just delightful.”
A grunt.
The problem with the push-up lay within the way it pretty much mimicked the act of sex. (Lay. Heh.) All the sweating, straining and up and down of the pelvic region. It was disgusting. Shouldn’t be allowed. Sweat darkened the thin cotton of his shirt. The material stuck to him outlining every muscle. Man, he had a lot of them. His arms for instance…
“Lena!”
“What?”
“Stop it.”
My mouth slammed shut.
“You’re watching me all the time and it’s fucking creepy. I can’t take it anymore.”
Oh God, he was right.

4.5 stars

I really dug Jimmy’s brand of a**holery.

I know, controversial statement right there. But hear me out. In my head there’s a line, a limit, a rationalisation, and the guy stuck to my guidebook. (Yes, the: “how to be a good kind of a**hole” guidebook)

What can I say, that’s my kryptonite. That and humour.

Heroine was great as well.

Overall this book struck a good balance when it comes to the romance, the chemistry, the banter and the plot.

No complaints to be had.

Now, is this really a 5 star read by all my new and improved standards? No. BUT, I thoroughly enjoyed it so why not.

"God damn mother-f*cking rock stars."

I honestly didn't think I would love Jimmy Ferris because he was such a douche in the previous books. But my oh my. This book totally changed my opinion and feelings for him.

James Dylan "Jimmy" Ferris, Stage Dive's lead singer, is a difficult man to understand. He comes full of baggage. Spoiled, vain, and sensitive, the way he manages his issues changed when Lena Morrissey came into his life as his personal live-in assistant. Lena is a different girl. She doesn't put up with Jimmy's crap, thus they were like a cat and a dog who are always at clash with each other. But because they seriously have this strange connection between them and a chemistry that is so apparent, Lena slowly became infatuated with him. However, relationship is not in Jimmy's vocabulary so she has to hide her feelings.

"Whatever he might be, Jimmy Ferris was special and complicated, beautiful and beastly, all rolled into one."

I loved how their relationship had no insta-love. The build-up was done so well and it was packed with sexual tension and frustration. lol. I especially loved their banters and those parts where Jimmy tried so hard to control his jealousy each time Lena is with another guy. You can expect to find a push and pull kind of romance here which I found really entertaining. All throughout the book, all I was ever hoping for was for them to say those magic words and finally be together as a couple.

I guess what truly made this book stand out was the way Jimmy's character was fleshed out and how his family issues were highlighted. I finally understood why he's acting like a jerk. It's because of this book that I realized he's more than just a tortured hero. He's a man who's also capable to care for someone as good as Lena. Another thing that made me appreciate this book was Lena's patience to Jimmy and her acceptance to his issues. It was quite remarkable. I just wished this book highlighted Jimmy's performance on stage. I would have loved to see him singing on stage together with his bandmates. Also, I wished the resolution to their conflict wasn't that rushed.

All in all, Lead was a knock-my-socks-off kind of book. There was certainly A LOT to love about it. Definitely one of the entertaining and wonderfully written sequels ever!

"Love came in all sorts of shapes and size, but if it wasn't based upon doing what was right for the one you loved, then what was it worth, really?"

4.5 A Hell Of A Bad Bet Stars ⭐

Honestly I'm plowing through this series, and I've been waiting with bated breath for the Jimmy Ferris story. As frontman of Stage Dive, he's the bad boy of rock. And you always knew it would be a tortured past that moulded the man.

He was my Romeo in black jeans and this story had just as much a chance of dying as tragic a death as the original.

Lena is not equipped to be a sobriety coach. Yes, she may have landed the position under questionable events, but she takes it very seriously helping a former addict. It's hard; especially since it's for a person that barely tolerates her.

“I don’t know why the fuck I put up with you.”

I shrugged. “No, me neither. But you keep paying me so I keep hanging around.”

“Awesome. Go away.”

“You got it, boss.”

All they do is irritate each other, even if Lena has helped Jimmy reach 6 months of sobriety. But it's more than that because their arrangement is one of comfort and righting past wrongs. Its not a bad scenario until one goes and falls in love.

Fancy falling for someone you didn’t even particularly like half the damn time. Who did something so stupid? I mean apart from me, obviously.

It's awful. Unrequited love is tragic but being enamored with a man who's emotionally stunted and believes her love is just a phase is mortifying. Yet somehow Lena has snuck into Jimmy's affections. Too bad he hasn't got a clue how to handle it and repeatedly messes up.

“Jimmy, my love,” I said, my voice soft and sweet. “I don’t fuck a guy until he has the balls to actually man up and talk to me about his feelings.”

Lead is so much more than you expect. It's deep and tugs on the heartstrings. More slow burn then the other books in the series, Jimmy and Lena finally getting together was poetic. A kickass heroine and a lost soul was the perfect combination. Initially I grinned, slowly I despaired and finally I swooned. Jimmy's antics were top notch! 💙🎤

😍 Jimmy and Lena! 😍

Gah, I'm an idiot! It's been 3 years since I read and LOVED Mal's book . . . but I didn't continue with the series. There was just something about Jimmy and Lena that I found off-putting. My bad. Because this was awesome!

I loved everything here; the banter, the forced proximity, the broody/tortured hero, the quirky/take-no-bullshit heroine - ALL of Mal's appearances. And best of all, I truly appreciated the way KS was able to keep Jimmy's asshole behavior on the right side of the line so Lena didn't look like an idiot.

Obviously I won't wait another 3 years before I read Ben's book. 😂

I absolutely love this book !! It is one of my all time favorite MF books, and even though I have read it many times already, it took me this freaking long to write a review for it. My bad, but sometimes my favorite books are the hardest to review ;)

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor shame on me + gif

Now I have read every single book in this amazing series, and I have loved them all. This one is definitely my nr. 1 though...followed closely by Mal's book, "Play" . Can't forget about Mal :p !!

To fully enjoy this series, I do recommend reading the books in order, even though each one centers around a different couple.

This one centers around Jimmy...."the love of my life" (I wish)...

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1517

We've met Jimmy in the previous books. He's the "asshole" leadsinger of the world-famous band "Stage Dive" and David's (book 1) older brother. After a stint in rehab, he is also...a "reformed" addict.

After being freshly out of rehab, the band...and the management...think it's a good idea to set Jimmy up with a sobriety companion. After chasing the first few away, he finally ends up with Lena.

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1517  https://www.google.com/search?biw=1517

Lena knows all about the bad boys, after having her heart broking a couple of times. She can take Jimmy...and she also really needs a new job :P

I absolutely loved Lena, she was an awesome heroine and she didn't take any shit from anyone...especially Jimmy. But working so closely with the man shows her that there is so much more to the narcissistic asshole than everyone thinks. So she really can't help it when she falls head over heels...

Too bad Jimmy doesn't do love....he believes he is incapable of that emotion.

"I'm a hell of a bad bet, Lena. Fucked up home life, reformed addict. I mean shit, my issues have issues."

No worries though, he will help Lena get over him...he knows exactly how :P

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1517

This book was perfect for me. I loved the banter between these two. They were absolutely made for each other. I laughed, I swooned and I even cried a bit. Perfection I say !!!

LOVED IT!!!

Throughout the series we've seen little bits and pieces of Jimmy. Each time we've seen him he's been a standoffish assh*le. Curious to see what made Jimmy a grade A jerk had me itching to read 'LEAD'.

On stage Jimmy, lead singer for Stage Dive, is a show pony. He can work a crowd while looking down right yummy. Off stage is a completely different story. He's rude and social niceties escape him.

description

Lena is a bit of a smart ass. She's hired to be Jimmy's sobriety companion and assistant. When Jimmy unleashes his frustrations she stands her ground never letting him see her cower. Basically her job is to keep him clean and deal with his crap.

Only problem with their professional relationship is they clash big time. The dynamics of their situation keeps you wondering if Ms. Scott has written a book where the hero and heroine just skip any romance and keep a professional relationship. You won't find this out until the last two pages of the book.

Seeing all the guys in this book was icing on the cake. There's a lot of hostility between Lena and Jimmy throughout the book and Mal adds the perfect comedic relief. The little bits of perfectly timed Mal moments made me laugh. One scene in particular ➜ when Lena and Jimmy were arguing and Mal broke the tension by running out of the room wailing, "I hate it when mommy and daddy fight!" He was good at taking stressful situations and giving everyone a good laugh.

Finally, a shout out to my state Oregon. Seems like Oregon is the place to be...at least in books. My Oregon shelf is growing by leaps and bounds lately. I ♥ Oregon.

5 JIMMY AND LENA STARS

"Say it."
A rare smile.
"I love you, Lena."

I can't even express how much I love the series! All the characters are amazing and each story is unique with their own way! In the beginning my favorite character was David, then Mal and now OMG this guy, *sigh* He won me over! Once again Kylie Scott managed to captivate me with her amazing and hilarious characters!!!

This book is about David's brother Jimmy Ferris. The lead singer for Stage Dive.I knew from the beginning that this book will be different. I mean Jimmy isn't like the other boys. He has previous issues with drugs and alcohol and now he needs to hire an assistant who will keep him company and will check on him.
He has had a lot assistants but nobody could deal with him! Until Lena the girl who will change his life!

description

Lena has gone through several heartbreaks and she know about bad boys! She knows that she must stay away of them! But because she needs the money she accepts the job.
Lena and Jimmy do not get along from the beginning, they need time. This is what makes the story so real Because in the real life, the same will have happened! At the beginning they become friends and believe me I liked them so much together! They made a hilarious combination! I laughed so much!

“You okay?” I asked.
A nod.
“Feeling a little emotional, huh?” I petted his hair. “That’s okay. It was an emotional blow job.”

Jimmy instantly became one of my favorite boys, now finally that I read his story! In the first book he was a jerk but he intrigued me and I wanted to know more about him! And when I learned that this was his story I was so excited! He is sexy and funny! And finally we learn so many things about him! He learned to trust Lena and they were friends.

"I'm all about you,Lena.
You're my best friend.
You're my girl."

I loved Lena! She is tough, hilarious and smart! She is definitely one of my favorite heroine! She was so independent I think I have a crush on her!
Except of hilarious these two also are so hot!!!

4 JIMMY STARS! ★★★★

“Sometimes, when you’re not being a jerk, I like you so much it hurts. I like the way your true self comes out when you think no one else is looking.”

So I'm finally caught up with this series and totally bulldozed through it in one sitting after meeting the infamous Jimmy Ferris and boy oh boy, can I just say how much of an asshole he is?! It doesn't help that he was such a lovable asshole which left me so conflicted about this read. One minute when Jimmy isn't being a gigantic dickface, I wanted to cuddle with him. And later there are times that Jimmy could run for the asshole of century and made me want to punch his nuts repeatedly and castrate him.

GAH JIMMY WHAT YOU'D DO TO ME?!

Lena totally stole the show for me in this book. I have to hand it to her for being so sassy and putting up with a first class dickhead. Personally I would have walked out if I'd put up with half of the things Jimmy did.

"I think I'm going to start charging you extra for lies. Someone needs to pay for the stain on my soul."

I enjoyed watching their relationship progressed from strictly professional to something more, it was even more amusing that it was a case of unrequited love. Lena's character definitely pegged her as one of the best heroine so far in this series and I love how Kylie Scott managed to turn this read into something so different than the previous two. It was far more angsty that I even may have shed some tears of frustration during this read.

My only complaint is I wished that there was more grovelling done on Jimmy's part towards the end because honestly, my heart break for Lena one too many times with Jimmy asshole-ish ways. Also it would've been nice if we had Jimmy's POV thrown in because I'd really like to know the man behind that asshole exterior.

Now I'm stoked to read the last instalment of this series and see what's Ben story will be like YAY! :D

Lead is the third installment in the Stage Dive series and can be read as a standalone.

★★★★★ 5 Stars!

Lead by Kylie Scott was easily one of my most anticipated releases of the summer/year. So far I've enjoyed every single one of the books in this series and Lead was no exception! The author once again delivers a fun, sexy, emotional, rock 'n roll filled read that will make you laugh, swoon and cry all in the span of a few hours.

Jimmy Ferris is the famous front man of Stage Dive who we've all come to know as the one who can't seem to "keep his shit" together. The past few years his addictions to drugs, booze and women have gotten out of hand and after a stint in rehab his bandmates convince him to take on an assistant who will accompany him wherever he goes and who will keep him out of trouble. Reluctantly he agrees, and that's how he meets the lovely but tough as nails Lena...

“Don’t hate me, Lena,” he whispered. “You want to be mad at me when I do dumb things, that’s fine. But don’t ever hate me. I couldn’t take that, not from you.”

Lena Morrisey has had some bad luck the past few years, both when it comes to her jobs but even more so when it comes to relationships. So, when she gets offered to "chaperone" a famous rockstar in exchange for a copious amount of money and a stellar recommendation, it seems her luck has finally turned. Little does she know the spoiled lead singer of Stage Dive who often makes her want to pull out her own hair with all his crazy antics will soon be the one to capture her heart and who makes her want to give love another chance.

Lena and Jimmy were both very likeable MC's. Lena was a sassy, independent, easy-to-relate-to heroine with a soft heart; while Jimmy was at first a bit rude and moody but after a while turned into a pretty nice guy with a sweet and humorous side. Their constant bickering and hilarious banter often had me cracking up while their bedroom antics and Jimmy's excellent oral skills had me fanning myself more than once. Kylie Scott sure knows how to create the best combination of humor and steamy romance, combined with an emotion-filled storyline on top.

"Look, the truth is, I'm all about you, Lena. You're my best friend. You're my girl."

Overall, Lead was once again a perfect addition to this series and I enjoyed reading every minute of it and I especially loved catching up with David, Mal and the rest of the Stage Dive crew. It was a slow building friends-to-lovers story filled with hilarious moments as well as some endearingly sweet ones and if you're a fan of the first two books in this series, I would highly recommend giving this one a try! Personally, I'm already anxiously looking forward to whatever Kylie Scott has next in store for us is this fun and exhilarating series.

Lead is Jimmy's story. Ooh, and I loved the arrogant, narcissistic asshole. Jimmy has lived the rock star lifestyle to the fullest, drugs, alcohol, sex - but after some bad PR and a visit to rehab, the band has persuaded him to hire an assistant. Someone to help keep him out of trouble.

”I lied. I cheated. I stole. I destroyed everything that meant anything to me and hurt everyone around me.”

Lena's life has taken some unfortunate turns, so when she is offered the job, she takes it. Lena and Jimmy are constantly bumping heads, but she doesn’t let him push her around. I loved their interactions. They were hilarious. The reindeer shirt was fantastic.

“I don’t know why the f*ck I put up with you.”
I shrugged. “No, me neither. But you keep paying me so I keep hanging around.”

As Jimmy and Lena grow closer, he begins to open up to her. Seeing this side of Jimmy, does all kinds of things to Lena's heart and body. But Jimmy isn't a relationship guy. He's moody, and difficult.

description

In order to save herself from another broken heart, Lena decides she should start looking for her replacement and move on. But Jimmy doesn't want to let her go. He makes her an offer, but is it enough to keep Lena in his life?

LOVED this one. A well-paced fun, sexy, sweet read. Lena and Jimmy were great, I didn't want the story to end.

Ahh, another great story about boys from Stage Dive and I loved it! There were some "buts", but ahh hell, it's Stage Dive and it's Jimmy, so no hesitation on my part to give this book 5 rock stars!!!

We have Jimmy, the lead singer. He is broody, moody, sexy and cocky, arrogant jerk and asshole. After almost ruining his life and career because of proverbial "sex, drugs and rock'n'roll", he goes to rehab and fights his addictions. After successful rehab he needs sober companion, and that's when Lena comes in. She is sassy, witty, tough and takes no shit from Jimmy, when he's too much, she knows how to stomp her feet. I loved being in her head, it was hilarious. What is natural, while spending 24/7 with him, she develops feelings for Jimmy. And Jimmy being a butthead that he is, doesn't take the whole thing seriously, doesn't even entertain the idea that someone can love him (his rough past and "lovely" mommy made him think that "high" of himself). I must say his rejection really sucked ass and I felt sorry for Lena a lot. But there was a lot of fun and great banter after that, and following "the getting rid of Jimmy out of Lena's head plan" was entertaining, especially point five:) There was also some miscommunication, some sad and angry feelings along the way, and one almost broken heart, but the story wrapped up nicely and we got HEA in the end.

We had to wait too long for some sexy time though, the first scene was around 70%. Although sex was off the hook hawt!, I kind of hoped there would be more (smutty part of my brain felt hungry). But OK, OK, I guess the spicy, a little dirty and with phenomenal oral skills Jimmy made up for it.

I was just sad when the book has finished because I wanted more of their relationship when Jimmy finally removed his head from his ass and stopped being a douche. I also think that he didn't grovel enough for my taste. A good asshole is a good asshole when he grovels, begs on his knees, asks for forgiveness..... well, you get the feeling. And Jimmy had it easy with Lana, too easy I think. I would like to see him fight some more for her.

I was so glad to catch up with other members of the band and their ladies:) I still love Mal to pieces!!! And it's official! I'm a Stage Dive groupie and can't wait for Ben's book!!!

BR with Jeanne, Ilze and [~Ami~]♥Sexy Dexy♥. Thanks girls:)

Kylie Scott blew it the hell up with this book! I loved it! The humor, the chemistry and those sex scenes, I can’t blab enough on how much I enjoyed this one.

Lena was my favorite type of heroine, she was hilarious, she was curvy, her thoughts could be my thoughts because I was right there the whole book falling hard for Jimmy Ferris, dayum this book was so good.

Lena is hired by the band to be Jimmy’s sobriety companion. Jimmy, oh Jimmy he was the recovering bad boy written to perfection. He was cold, keeping everyone at arm distance while developing feelings for Lena that he had no clue what to do with. Jimmy wears suits and style with just the same swag as his tattoos and tees. Jimmy laughs when Lena tries to quit because she has developed feelings for him and that jackass helps her get over him (but those dates were fun!)

”I couldn’t stop loving him, and he refused to start. That was the cold hard truth.”

Jimmy and Lena were not only funny but when Point #5 in their quest to get over him is revealed I blushed and my jaw hit the floor. I expected some hanky panky eventually but that’s how well this book was written I was just as shocked as Lena. Sex with Jimmy was OFF THE HOOK HOT!

Overall, this was hands down my favorite of the series but I would like to now formally beg the author for more…

PLEA TO THE AUTHOR:
Kylie Scott we need a .5 book stat!! I want Lena to go on the road and I want to experience Jimmy singing with the roar of the crowd, the super steamy highs of the road as Jimmy’s girl. Also, I would like his pov in this dream book of mine. Pretty Please can we have this before Ben’s book?

4.5 stars!

This series just keeps getting better and better with Lena being my favorite heroine in the series so far!

The Story!

We met Lena briefly in in Play and she was introduced as Jimmy's assistant. What wasn't revealed was the extent of her involvement in Jimmy's life.

In this book, not only do we get to see how she became his assistant-slash-sobriety companion, we also get to see how their relationship progressed from being boss/employee to friends and then ultimately to lovers.

One thing I loved about this book is that it didn't take a shortcut when it comes to the development in their relationship. There was no insta-lust here folks. In fact, in the very beginning of the book, their relationship was strictly a professional one. I was quite worried that there would be no chemistry between the two because they literally have to start at zero.

But then you get a look there. A touch here. A smile. Possessiveness. Jealousy. Then the sexual tension just builds and builds and builds until...

I personally loved that. I loved that their relationship took time to grow and continued to grow throughout the book. Lena is a wonderful character. She's the funniest heroine to date. Her snark and biting sarcasm is a perfect foil for Jimmy's stoic elegance. Not to say Jimmy wasn't funny too because he was. Again, I was a little worried that I wouldn't like Jimmy because he was such an ass in previous books. But here, he totally redeemed himself. He still acted like an ass sometimes but now he's a lovable ass.

Loved, loved their banter. Their chemistry wasn't obvious at first but like I said, it escalated as the book went along. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because I would have really loved Jimmy's POV. Don't get me wrong, Lena was a great narrator but there were some things happening with Jimmy that I would have loved to have been privy to especially when it came to Lena. I had to rely on what Lena sees and what Jimmy tells her. Having his POV would have made that experience much sweeter.

Yet despite that, I still adored this book. Definitely the best in the series so far for me. :)

5 'Leading' Stars

 photo image_zpssvrfxwaq.jpg

Stage Dive has officially became one of my new favorite series. Lead is about our front man singer, Jimmy Farris. He's a former addict. He needs a 'sobriety friend', and all the ones he hired can't seem to last. Nobody can put up with him.

Lena swore off men. She's dealt with enough arrogant assholes that will last her a lifetime. So being offered a job to keep Jimmy outta trouble seemed good enough for her. And trust me she did an amazing job. She's feisty, and I loved her.

I enjoyed their back-and-fourth banter, that was the best part out of many. Lena never backed down no matter what. She knew how to control Jimmy and that's one of many reasons I loved her. Now Jimmy is a whole different story. I LOVED and ADORED the very ground he walked in. That man is something else entirely. He would act all tough and that he's the shit when really he's scared and hurt. He's been through a lot, and it left a mark on him. Outta everything I loved his vulnerability the most.

But there's a problem, Lena is falling. And the harder she falls the more heartbroken she becomes.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Jim and Lena are just perfect together.

4,5 Sterne

2.5 Stars

Sorry to say so, but what I loved the most about this book was Mal.. And of course, his puppy son Killer.. But that's about it.
It wasn't bad. But not great either.

Review contains slight spoiler.

We met Lena and Jimmy in the previous books. So my impression of Lena was

In reality she was like

I thought Lena would be a total bitch, but in a good way and always stand her ground. And now I'm

Then I realized pretty quickly that she was more like a love sick puppy than the expected bad ass.

Jimmy was the asshole I expected him to be.

But the banter I was looking for was mediocre as well as the sexual tension.

And then the story starts somewhere in the middle. So we don't see how Lenas and Jimmys relationship started. We just know they get somewhat along, but I was like

What I disliked the most was that the love seemed very one-sided the whole book and even in the end it seemed to me like Lena persuaded Jimmy into loving her.

Maybe Jimmys POV would have helped to convince me of the contrary.

Motherfucking rock stars.

Okay, my loves, it's story time.
I've been listening to the metal band Bad Omens for years, but then a couple years ago they had the nerve to release a new album and it was my utter and complete ruin, because I developed an insane obsession for them, With the lead singer, Noah Sebastian, in particular (feel free to ask my twin Koisty if you'd like to find out the actual depth of my obsession with this stupidly talented boy).
I don't know if you're familiar with them and their music, but they're sickingly good and they're impressively AWESOME live. I'm actually trying to bribe my brother-in-law to come to a concert with me next time they're in my country. I'd totally sell my entire book collection for the opportunity to attend one of their shows, no cap. They're just that good and I'm just THAT crazy about them.
Anyway...
I've been watching a lot of their shows and performances on YT, and my infatuation only grew as I kept staring at them perform in complete awe, to the point it turned into an itch I didn't know how to scratch and mixed with my bookish habits until I found this series and this book, in particular.
A girl can have her musician romance wet dreams, after all, can she?
And let me tell you, said girl did eventually get the scratch of the century from Jimmy and Lena's story.
Not that they have anything to do with the band, of course. I'm not even sure what kind of genre Stage Dive are actually into (kind of expected to see more music all things considered) and Noah and Jimmy are anything alike besides the dark hair, the tattoos and the predilection for darker clothes.
But I'm sure you see what I mean.

I started this book this morning and couldn't put it down, despite it not being the best romance book in the world.
Plotwise speaking, in fact, this was just above average, and the romance could have been developed in a different way, but I really enjoyed the tension between the two main characters (they kind of reminded me of the relationship between Vanessa and Aiden from The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, just not as well crafted).
However, I wished the author had given them more time to explore their mutual feelings. The angst and the pining were there and they gave me all the fees, buuuuuuuut they also felt superficial and kind of one-sided. I blame this on the fact that we were always in Lena's mind and Jimmy isn't the kind of man you'd describe as lovable and direct. He is, in fact, broody, rude and kind of dumb when it comes to empathy, and his past trauma played a huge role in the making of their slow burn.
I did like him anyway, especially how flawed he is. And I also really loved Lena, because she knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to tell Jim to fuck off whenever he needed to be told so.
Their chemistry is palpable and absolutely justified and it totally reflected in the way the smut unfolded. It was awkward and full of jokes, but also hot af and particularly realistic.
I wish we'd seen more of it, because Kylie Scott can write a love-making scene, and because my libido's been acting up these past few weeks for reasons I still have yet to comprehend myself but that I assumed must have be caused by a combination of playing Bladur's Gate III (damn you, sexy pale elf) and thirsting over pretty singers.
Like I said before, the plot was meh and kind of dragged in certain points. There were a lot of coral scenes where all the band members and their girlfriends stole the show, and a few other situations where things were rushed for no particular reason, especially at the end.
Once again, in my opinion, the book would have definitely benefited from a dual pov.
That being said, Lead is a good novel, even if I expected it to be better, and Kylie Scott's effortlessly made it to my list of go-to romance authors with her humor and fresh dialogues.
In case you're wondering, I may have spent the last 4 hours packing my kindle with rockstar romance books. For research purposes, of course.
Ah, the things I wouldn't do for science ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(also finishing this review with a noah sebastian gif because he indirectly made me pick this book up, because his voice altered my brain chemistry for good, because his aesthetic turned my dreams into the sweaty mess they are now, and because i just love him in a very platonic way)
