It was very wholesome and the ending was so sweet but we didn't even get to see Nikki start high school. I also wanted to see Brianna's everyday life with her friends and stuff but nothing interesting happened when Brianna had Nikki's diary. So I give it two stars.

This book is an absolute 10/10.
(Will not spoil for newcomers)

This is an absolute CLUTCH from the last book. It went down but they picked it right up with such speed! The book was actually WAY better than I expected—seriously. No joke.

I thought this would be another book 9 copy and paste but this one was actually built well and was phenomenal! The clear wholesome relationship between the sister and Nikki’s actual thought towards Brianna that had been hidden throughout the entire series was made and presented so well I actually shed a tear. It feels like this book was made out of pure love and appreciation and actually showed the buildup of Nikki’s personality and Brianna’s personality in just a short book.

This book takes on an entire new formula that kept me intrigued the whole time I was reading—instead of the repeating “A B A B” pattern—It went straight through and showed so much. I actually feel so happy that this was made, it felt like a book that represents actual sibling relationships accurately, and it seems like it was a topic that the creator loved and clearly expressed throughout this book.

The ending was adorable and actually gave me a bunch of excitement for the next dork diaries book—This was lovely and I loved every part of it. I would read it over and over again endlessly without hesitation ! This was an amazing book, I look forward to more amazing books like this in the future.

I usually love these books because they are super silly and don’t take life so seriously. Which of course, always leaves a smile on my face. Although, the first 3/4 of this book is quite depressing and I kept feeling bad for Nikki. Then things get even worse for Nikki with a big twist! It took a little too long for this book to make me smile that’s all. I liked the last book in the series much better. I mean they did go to Paris and that’s hard to beat! Last but not least, Brianna’s entries were pretty funny and fun to read! A good change of pace I must say.

I am really angry about this poor quality book that I have received.

Last year, Russel’s book “I 💚 Paris” hit the shelves in September 2023 after fans waited around FOUR years for her to release a 200-and-something paged book.

This year Russel must have reflected on her mistakes and thought “Well I’ll just try and make a book within the span of 4 months!”.

I don’t even know when Russel decided to announce the release of this book, but I’m pretty sure it was not long ago.

Then after a couple of months, Rachel’s new rustled-up book “Sister Showdown” hit shelves.

I was shocked by how fast she managed to make this book, but I didn’t think anything of it.

I have just read this book within an hour, and OH MY GOD, this book is absolutely awful!

I noticed many mistakes within the first few pages and noticed there were many paragraphs, Nikki would only write a few words until there was another paragraph, there were roughly 6 paragraphs per page.

Russel also reused some old drawings from older books when Brianna was making entries.

I have two of these books as I had to order a replacement since one of them went missing in the post, but both seemed to turn up, I was going to give one to a friend until I noticed all of these mistakes. The mistakes were also in the second book.

I am so shocked about this book. I don’t think I am going to buy the next one (if there even is!).

I also noticed that in the end Nikki gave Brianna a diary as well, I’m just waiting for “The Brianna Diaries” to be released now.

The first mistake I noticed was when a friend told Nikki they couldn’t go to the CupCakery with her.

“I was a little disappointed”
She crossed “was a little” out but only halfway.

The second mistake I noticed was that the number 34 was printed out two times (page 34)

Thank you for reading this review, I hope you haven’t wasted your money or time on this book and this review has saved you from buying something that is poor quality and will take you an hour to read (normally Russel’s books are amazing and I’ve bought every single one.)
Thank you and goodbye!

I loved this book Nikki’s diary gets stolen by her bratty little sister, Brianna it’s very similar to book 9, where Mackenzie steals her diary Mackenzie wasn’t as featured in this one although she’s the centrepiece of all Nikki’s mishaps and drama-filled life Brianna wasn’t as bratty as Nikki claims her to be she also pretends to be Nikki and uses her phone it was well entertaining and hopefully a book 17 in the near future.

Cute as usually but feels more rushed than normal.

To be honest. Part of the reason I read this now is because I thought it would be funny next to the not child friendly book I finished right before this on my October wrap up

I really like this book, but i am so against Brianna ( the little sister ) taking Nikki's stuff and how did she even get the password into her phone? Another huge problem is that Nikki blacks out and has to get life threatening surgery, it's just a huge turn around!! I read almost the entire series and none of the other books are like this! This book doesn't make any sense. I am so fed up with this series! The author could of made this book way better! Right now i'm just so fed up with everything so i'm just not going to finish this series until i'm not fed up and the next book better be good!! 😡😡

I expected 200 pages of Brianna drama where I might (but probably not) understand her perspective. Boy, was I wrong!

First, the book (or diary) is stolen by Brianna, but she takes up less than half of the book. Her "handwriting" is extra large, sentences even more simple than Nikki's, and, likewise, emojis even larger, so you can zip through that in 15 minutes.

Second, the part written by Nikki was unique. I was expecting a mushy moment with Brandon and a lot of hate to and from Mackenzie, but instead, Nikki decides that she needs to be supportive to her friends like they've been supportive to her.

FINALLY! After a year of drama over everything and nothing, Nikki's friends always swooping in to help her and always forgiving her after all her woe-is-me moments, she recognizes that they, too, need help and wants to play a role in their lives!

Granted, her motive was selfish: she wanted to do it so she'd be remembered and part of their friend group at school, which is a bit ridiculous. That aside...

Third, I can't say what happened, but things got serious. Not Brandon ghosting her. Not Mackenzie embarrassing her. Not a stupid accident in public. But something dead serious that surprised me. The author made it serious enough so that you were concerned but kept it light enough so that kids won't be traumatized.

And honestly? It made Nikki more real and relatable. She was humbled for a moment, and it brought her family closer together.

That leads to fourth--much to my surprise, Brianna wasn't as annoying as I expected. Yes, she is a jerk, and yes, she is bratty, but seeing things from her perspective, I understood a bit more and was thinking, Oh, yeah... she's just a six-year-old. That doesn't make her actions excusable, but it makes me want to laugh more than roll my eyes.

Fourth-point-five, Brianna and Nikki at the end was heartwarming and heartmelting. I just hope Brianna won't get her own series--her perspective was interesting, but only because it lasted only for 100 pages and it was something to read

4.25/5 stars--this was non-formulaic, sweet, and a bit deep and more grown-up. Nikki's motivations were impure, and Brianna was a brat sometimes, but otherwise, it was so good I might get my own copy.

I started reading these when I was young, and followed it for years. Unfortunately, the fact that the first thing that came to mind at the genuinely sweet ending was "this will be immediately forgotten by book 17" made me realize something. Though books 9 through 12 or so, I thought that MacKenzie had a chance of redemption. Nope. I thought that the characterizations might genuinely move forward at some point instead of no one remembering what they learned. Nope.

I know DD is serialized. However, I watched the first few seasons of MLP:FIM as a teen, and they genuinely hold up now. That show is definitely serialized, but the main reason to me it doesn't get rote is characters change and important things happen in their lives. I rarely remember even in the later seasons screaming at the characters for falling into the same traps (Non-Compete Clause/the yakaphone ep) is closest, but S8 and 9 still have at minimum serviceable characterizations of the cast.

This book was lame and cute. I was wondering how the book would be about Nikki starting high school and center it around Brianna. I was sadly disappointed it was mainly about Brianna. When she had the diary she didn’t even say or do anything real interesting. I know she’s 6 but couldn’t she be an innocent kid writing things she over heard people or kindergarten gossip. Maybe Brianna could have over heard her parents talking about expecting another child but Brianna didn’t realize but when Nikki read over what she wrote she would be able to put 2 and 2 together and realize her mom is pregnant. (Is that a bad idea? I don’t think they need another child to move the plot) I do think Brianna and Nikki is super adorable. Atleast if there is another book it would all about Nikki starting high school!! I’m so excited to read her experience!

OK, I understand the vision Russell had for this book. I like the idea of Brianna stealing Nikki's diary. I didn't like the book though. The majority of the book is Brianna's point of view, but then again, she's supposed to be 6 years old. 6-year-old aren't the best and most descriptive writers. The majority of the pages have like six words. I finished the book in 1 day, 1 DAY!! Unlike the rest in the series, I believe it has less pages. It's an easy read for anyone 8 and up. It's definitely not my favorite in the series. I don't recommend this book if you don't want a book that you will finish in 2 hours. The target age for this book was supposed to be about 9-13 I believe, but it didn't reach that target age. I don't recommend this book.

I like it because Brianna is cute but really hard to deal with. I feel bad for Nikki cause she says all the time in her diary "Why was I not born an only child!?"
I always think of Nikki as myself, so when she's in bad situations I think of how I would deal with them myself.
Some of her situations are so bad I can't even imagine going through them.
Especially the one in this book!
So basically what happens is......OOPS!!! No spoilers!
Anyway, have fun reading!
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars, RECOMMEND!!

Book 16 in series
Nikki notices how her friends are always willing to help her out and she wants to return the favor. While she is doing so, her diary falls into the hands of her younger sister, Brianna, who decides to use it to keep her own diary.
Super relatable for anyone who has a younger sibling. I also felt horrible for Nikki - some traumatic things happen to her in this one. Fans of the series will enjoy.

This book was not like any other dork diaries book they didn’t have any more Mackenzie school drama but they sure did sneak in a little drama at the end when Nikki was at the hospital overall this book was ok and definitely not my favourite dork diaries book I would not recommend if you don’t like hospital stories but this book was a very quick to read with easy language.

It was shorter than her usual books. I had to read it because it is my childhood series. I can't wait to hear about Nikki and Brandon in high school.
Child me would not be disappointed.
I can't wait for my future students to read this series.

Absolutely loved this dork diaries book!
But I got a bone to pick with Brianna because how is she going to literally RUIN Nikki's life in such a short period of time - I know she's a kid but goodness me how did her parents not catch her with Nikki's phone??

Anyway I definitely recommend this book!

This book is MUCH better than all of the other ones! Nikki isn't whiny, bratty, or spoiled throughout almost the entire book. There's no nonsense drama and she doesn't gain anything she doesn't deserve. I used to hate her, but now I actually kind of like her!

I’ve been reading this series since I was 6. I loved that this series is written as an actual diary. This book series encouraged me to start my own diary. The only thing I didn’t really like about this book was that Brianna took over the book and it wasn’t the same. My final rating is 4.5 ⭐️

First read of 2025! It’s a good start to the year but now back to age appropriate books. I just can’t seem to get away from this series because it’s so addictive. It was sweet and showcased the importance of sisterly love. Overall good read.
