I don’t know how Lydia does it, but she has given us another story you can’t put down. I know because I was reading it late into the night, I had to see how it ended. Wow, such a great read. From Laird Ian, who with his brother, Gregor grew up under the shadow of his hard, unfeeling, nasty cruel father. His mother was an angel and loved her boys with all her heart. When Ian is called upon to help his mother, he does what he must. Even promising her he will keep her secrets no matter what. His own clan is afraid of him, and he does nothing to stop the image or the gossip. He is a loner; his only love and friend is his brother. A book has been written about him and he must get a copy. He needs to see what it says and who wrote it. He can’t have anyone finding out his darkest secret. He finds out that James Anderson, Laird Clyde’s daughter Freya, has found a copy. He travels to the meeting hoping to get the book from the women he was told was shy, small women. Grace is the twin of Freya and would do anything for her sister. They are as different as night and day. Freya is a reader, shy, loves romance and everything feminine. Grace is a hellion who drives her father nuts. She hates sewing, growing flowers and most indoor activities. She dresses in lad clothes, rides like the wind, has learned to fight and loves working with all animals. She is outspoken to a fault. Oh, my let the games begin. When Ian meets up with Grace and demands the book everything goes south. She fights him causing him to kidnap her and take her back to his keep. The banter between these two is wonderful. As Ira and Grace get stuck in a marriage neither wanted, they must try and figure out where they go from here. There are so many secrets, misunderstandings, passion and history. Lots of twists and turns, some you may see coming, others will shock you. I was misty eyed by the father at the end it was great. Grab a copy and get reading, a wonderful to lose yourself in other time and place. I received an ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.

Fate plays a huge part in this story. Freya, who is hardly ever sick, sends her twin sister Grace to meet a bookseller in a town an hour away to buy The Last Wolf of the North. It is a rare book and Freya wants to bring it with her to the next meeting of the Highland Hellions. However, before the bookseller arrives, Grace is kidnapped by Ian Neilson, Laird MacKerr, aka The Wolf of the North, who is frantically searching for the same book. He takes her to his castle hoping to get information about the book out of her. However, when they arrive, his brother Gregor, who has been attempting to placate the Council that wants to remove Ian as Laird, says “I told ye me braither was out seeking a bride” and their fate is sealed. Although Ian has promised Grace a great deal of freedom in order to get her to agree to marry him, he struggles with his attraction to her and his need to protect her. Ian is consumed with the fear that his father’s madness is hereditary, and believes it is his and Gregor’s responsibilty to make sure their line ends with them. His world is ruled by a deathbed promise that he made, allowing lies to stand as truths, and adopting a persona to protect that secret. But, Gregor is there to remind him that he is truly a good man with a good heart if only he could step back and see it. You will find a lot of darkness, bitterness, guilt and anger running throughout this tale, which is understandable considering Ian’s history. And yes, Grace’s presence is like a ray of sunshine brightening up their gloomy world, but that in itself causes problems. I love this book! It is full of strong emotions, sacrifices, danger, surprises and steam. Ian stole my heart right from the beginning and as annoying as Grace could be, it was obvious that she was his perfect match. This is a wonderful series, and the stories just keep getting better and better. I can’t wait to read what the author has in store for Freya.

Secrets.

Ian, Laird MacKerr has a secret. He gained the Lairdship of his clan after killing his own father. He made a promise to his dying mother not to tell the truth of her death. Doing so put him in a bad way with his clan. Whispers, rumors and fear surrounded him and there was nothing he could do about it without breaking his vow to his mother. When he learns of a book about his life he will do anything to get it. Including capturing the woman who is trying to buy it. Grace from clan Clyde is that woman. The wild one of the Clyde sisters. When Grace and Ian come together, sparks fly and not always in a good way. Ian’s secrets, fear and protective instincts keep Grace at a distance. Great story and great characters.

As Always Another Wonderful Story!!

Lydia comes through again. This 2nd story was excellent. It being Grace instead of Freya was even better. Her attempting to get a book for her sister sets all the wheels in motion lol. Fate as they both said led her to Castle MacKerr. Ian and Gregor suffered enough hardships. Gregor and Paisley were so happy together. Ian and Grace after working out their issues were happy as well. Now for Freya’s story. Can’t wait. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊

This felt incredibly rushed. The characters were interesting, once again, but the story was kind of boring and lacked any real substance.

There's no extensive grovelling. We don't hear from Laird Clyde and the supposed letter he writes. Ailis and Freya heading to Castle Mackerr ends up being pointless and forgotten about instantly.... There were just so many missing pieces that kept this from being an actual well-rounded story.

If anything, it read more as a novella.

.mistaken identity brings two together

Two high strung people who are brought together by a mistake try to make things better. She is trying to get away from an arranged marriage to an old man. She is promised freedom and to be able to make her own choices. He is promising marriage to placate his council but does not want to be married. He believes his fathers bad blood was passed down to him.

The truth is in the book

Very good story. I enjoyed the main characters...the loyal best brother ever, the feisty and endearing lady love, the laird
whose past family tragedy left him with serious self-doubt. A simple book written to reveal the truth behind the deaths of an abusive laird and his wife will lead a son to his own marriage and self discovery. (I think a better title could have been given.)

Ok Read !!

This series has captured my interest I must say from the beginning with each story with it's own journey and adventure. But I have to say with Grace being the more adventurous one I had hoped for more adventure , mystery, action and suspense with her story also more of the villain. Anyway it is a read that still held me from beginning to end so for it was a ok read.

wolf

Once again, a truly riveting novel by Lydia. From the moment he kidnapped her to the end was meaningful, entertaining and loving. He was thought to be a lone wolf when, in fact, he was a true Alpha.
