Age of Vampires #7

Devious Gods

Rate this book
All paths lead to this end.

Ruin chases close on our heels and the price we have paid for a chance at our salvation is higher than any of us could have presumed.

I have claimed a love so brutal that I fear losing it might destroy not just me but the world I have fought so desperately to save.

The gods watch us more closely than ever, urging us to fulfil the task our destiny demands. We only have to make it to the end of this road, but I fear what we might find when we reach that final destination.

I am no longer the girl born to ruin and ash, but a woman set on a path of salvation with my heart in the clutches of a monster.

Our eyes are finally open to the true enemies of our kind and now that we have managed to unite against all odds, we are determined to see the games of the gods end.

Time is running out and fate calls our name on a tumultuous wind. Let’s pray that we can answer it before damnation claims us all.

***This is a dark, fantasy romance series by the authors of Zodiac Academy with all the enemies to lovers vibes – don’t go expecting a sweet vampire with sparkling skin and a tendency to watch you sleeping. These vampires are savage and bloodthirsty, and the slayer who hunts them will stab first and ask questions later. This war-torn fantasy world is a brutal bi*ch and only those 18+ have a chance at surviving the darkness lurking between these pages. There’s no well-meaning vampires snacking on Bambies instead of babies, and if they get their teeth into you, you’ll be damn lucky to escape with your life and panties intact. So grab hold of your slayer blade (wooden stakes have too many splinters) and get ready to defy the gods, because this is going to be one helluva ride***

"People were shouting, screaming, fighting. It didn’t matter. Destiny called us and we walked towards it on bare feet."

OK, the thrilling conclusion of this series left me happy and sad at the same time. It was a ride and I enjoyed the chance of reading the first series Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti wrote togheter and seeing their writing improve with each book. The ideas were great from the beginning but the delivery was a bit rusty, but you could see the improvement with every novel and this one was by far the best.

》》The Plot《《

With Magnar just turned into a vampire and either Valentina hot on their heels, the twins, the vampires and the slayer have an interesting journey towards the mountain to end the curse. We also get a few nice relationship developments in the group, some fighting and killing, spicy time and an intrusion into the world of the gods.

》》Characters and Relationships《《

👩🏼👩🏻 Callie and Montana

"Ba-bam, ba-bam, ba-bam. That heartbeat was my heartbeat. Montana’s. One and the same. We were bound together as one soul. Alive and dead. Before and after."

Despite being so utterly different, the twins were more united than ever in this book and I loved their sisterly bond and their wish to always protect the other one.

👩🏼🤺Callie and Magnar

“How can you love me like this?” I asked softly. “I’m not even alive anymore...”
“I think you are,” she replied.
“My heart isn’t beating,” I replied hollowly.
“But it still belongs to me doesn’t it?”

They've hit a bit of a bumpy road in the beginning, with Magnar's new transformation, but Callie was extremely supportive and understanding and, if are to be honest, I think the fact that they've been allied with the vampires had helped them accept this new change.

“I would die a million deaths for a moment with you,” he growled.

They were extremly supportive and had a relationship based on trust and communication and that was not only nice but it also prevented unnecessary drama from happening.

👩🏻🧑🏻‍💼 Montana and Erik

"I was waiting for you. I was waiting for a love so fierce it thwarted even death. There’s no boundary, no realm on earth or otherwise that I wouldn’t cross to find you. And if there’s a life after this, I’ll find you there, and again and again.”

They've had their own rough patch to go through, with Erik grieving for Miles and Warren and considering himself to blame for that. His grief was obviously understandable, but him pushing Montana away and acting the way he did was a bit of an overkill and I felt a bit annoyed with him, but their relationship definitely progressed afterwards.

🧑🏻‍💼🤺 Erik and Magnar

“You'll be my brother-in-law when you marry Callie,” I said teasingly.
“I never thought of that...we'll be family.”
“Yes,” I agreed. “And if Julius marries my sister, you will be her brother-in-law too.”
Magnar released a laugh. “Damn, how am I to avoid it?”
“Do you wish to?” I asked.
“Perhaps I'm starting to see you as a brother already, so it won't be much different,” Magnar mused at last.
“I'm not sure I'll mind that at all,” I said, the amusement falling from my tone.

These two cinnamonrolls have evolved soooo sooo much and, horrible as it might have been, the time with Valentina has definitely strengthen the fragile bond they have formed due to the twins.

“Always knew you had a soft spot for me.”
“Yes, when I was trying to rip your head off every time I encountered you over the years, all I really wanted was a kiss.”
“And you got a few in the end, didn't you?” I smirked.

They had really great moments togheter, from killing Idun in the previous book and getting their revenge in this one, they were quite the pair. Not to mention the teasing and the funny retorts they've been sharing.

🧍‍♂️👸🏼Julius and Clarice

Julius’s frown deepened. “So you don’t even care that I...”
Magnar shook his head and Julius looked at Clarice again, releasing a heavy breath.
“Fuck it then.” He upended the bottle of whiskey into his mouth and tossed it into the fire with a loud smash.
Julius pushed himself to his feet and crossed the space in front of us in three long strides.
“What are you doing?” Clarice gasped as she gazed up at him.
“Offering you the world apparently. If you want it?” He held his hand out to her and her lips parted as she stared up at him.
The moment hung between them endlessly and I shifted in Magnar’s arms as I worried she was about to turn him down.
“I want it,” Clarice breathed, placing her hand in his.

Yes, I know, this scene I've selected is long AF, but I was squeaky and smiley all over again every time I've re-read it, so I just had to have it in my review. I've been rooting for these two for at least two books and I'm definitely not disappointed with the outcome. My only complaint was that I didn't get more scenes with them because they were definitely my favorite couple in this series. They were fun, there was a lot of banter and it was delicious to watch them go from enemies to lovers.

🧑🏼‍💼🧛🏻‍♀️ Fabian and Chickoa

They kind of happened off-page, so it's difficult to pinpoint the exact moment in time Chickoa has decided to forgive Fabian, but I'm just happy they got over their past issues. After all, 1000 years is a damned long time to love someone.

》》Favorite Scenes《《

👩🏼🤺Callie putting Magnar to sleep with her Dream Walker powers
🧍‍♂️👸🏼Julius calling Clarice 'baby' in front of everyone
🤺👩🏼Magnar and Callie alone in the hideout
👸🏼🧍‍♂️Clarice drinking from Julius's finger
🧑🏽‍💼🧑🏻‍💼Fabian being the voice of reason and giving Erik a good advice

“You’re an idiot,” he said on a breath. “Sort it out. Don’t screw up the only good thing that’s ever happened to you. Don’t be like me.”

🏖 Them enjoying the beach
👩🏻👩🏼Montana and Callie imagining the future
🤺🧍‍♂️👸🏼Magnar encouraging Julius to accept his feelings for Clarice
👸🏼🧑🏻‍💼Clarice telling Erik about her night with Julius

“He's everything, Erik. By the gods – argh! - what he did to me-” She moaned again and I fought my instincts as I tried not to grimace.
“You know he can probably hear you right now,” I pointed out with a bark of laughter.
“I can!” Julius called from his tent. “Please keep going.”

👸🏼🧍‍♂️Clarice and Julius togheter
🧑🏽‍💼🧛🏻‍♀️Fabian and Chickoa finally together
🎊The curse being broken
🧑🏻‍💼🧑🏽‍💼Erik and Magnar getting revenge on Valentina
🧑🏻‍💼🧑🏽‍💼Erik and Magnar discovering what the price had been
🧑🏻‍💼🧑🏼‍💼🧑🏿‍💼Erik meeting Miles and Warren again
🤺Magnar meeting his family again
🧑🏻‍💼🤺🗡Erik and Magnar fighting Andvari

“I am not your pawn, I am not a slave to your curse and my name is not Erik Larsen. I am Erik Belvedere, Andvari. And I am your death.”

💋The wedding
💋The Epilogue

》》Conclusion《《

It was fascinating and captivating and, with each new series, I am more and more certain that Susanne and Caroline will forever be on my list of favorite authors, because every work of theirs is pure art and feeling.

“I'm glad we're here,” Callie said, turning to me and her blue eyes glittered with tears of joy.
“We'll always be together. It's just the way it is.” I pulled her into my arms and the two halves of us fell together.
The sun and the moon.
Light and dark in perfect balance.
Two sisters bound forever in an endless dusk and dawn.

"And I still love you with the fierceness of a thousand suns."

'Eternal Love' is the epic final book within the 'Age of Vampires' series! Callie and Montana take their fated path toward finishing the curse but they can't do it alone. They must rely on the courage of their friends to help them reach it before their enemies catch up. It's time to pay the debt. But are they ready to face the price?

⤷ OMG, I can't believe these books have come to an end! This journey has been so beautiful and gripping to read!

⤷ Erick and Montanna were adorable! I've loved reading about how much developed as a couple but also individually!

⤷ Callie and Magnar have grown on me the last few books. At the start, I wasn't the biggest fan of them, not gonna lie there were times when I shipped Callie more with Fabian, but I'm glad they finally got their happy ending!

⤷ Even though Clarice and Julius weren't one of the main couples they still became my favorite. I lived for the interactions!

⤷ The only thing issue I really had was there were some unanswered questions within the book which I really need some closure with!

⤷ I really hope we get to see some novellas in the future about the other characters because there are so many possibilities, especially a story about how Miles and Warren first met or many other characters that can be explored!

"You were everything I ever wanted."
"And you were too good for me. Too good for this to be your end."

These books have definitely become one of my favorites of the year! So gut-wrenching, beautiful, action-filled, suspenseful and epic! Would recommend these books to everyone!

Thank you, Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, for providing a copy of this book for an honest review! :)

“And I still love you with the fierceness of a thousand suns.”

What an epic finale. This final book was so memorable and gut-wrenching, and did not disappoint. I absolutely love the infusion of Viking lore and the way this series is wrapped up is perfect; it was everything I had hoped for and so much more.

Eternal Love is the seventh book in the Age of Vampires series and it was addicting, I read it in one sitting. So many ups and downs, I was gripped from start to finish and what a finish indeed! It was an action packed emotional roller coaster that I’m still trying to recover from!

Callie and Montana take their fated path toward finishing the curse but they can’t do it alone. They must rely on the courage of their friends to help them reach it before their enemies catch up. It’s time to pay the debt.

“You were everything I ever wanted.”
“And you were too good for me. Too good for this to be your end.”

So many things have happened since the first novel, and these characters have grown so much and the character development in Eternal Love had such a huge impact on the story. Some people changed and some people finally accepted their true feelings. I loved reading about them and I loved the ending that they got. This whole story-line is so unique, and the creativity behind the characters and the plot is just great! I’m going to miss these characters SOOO MUCH!

These books have definitely become one of my favorites of the year! So gut-wrenching, beautiful, action-filled, suspenseful and epic! I highly recommend I this series. You WILL be hooked from book one, and it WILL be a sad ending, because these characters are truly amazing. Such a bittersweet ending.

IM SOOOO SAD THIS IS THE END. BUT I’m looking forward to Caroline and Susanne’s next series… which they’ve just announced on their FB. ALSO, I just want to say how amazing these authors are… I mean 7 books in just 3 months is AMAZINGGG! They sure know how to write a story and know how to keep people hanging in suspense for the next book! Haha

"We demonised you as you demonised us but now we stand united against our true enemies and we will end this curse together."
"The most powerful creatures in existence united at last," I replied with a dark smile. "May the gods have mercy on anyone who dares stand against us now."

-- Erik & Magnar

5+ stars!

What an epic finale. I went into this novel knowing that Caroline and Susanne would hold no punches and make this final journey as memorable and gut-wrenching as possible for us readers, and as always they did not disappoint.

I don't know what else I can say to commend this beautiful series. These books aren't just for readers who love vampire novels; they are for readers who want ever-evolving characters who refuse to give up despite the constant obstacles blocking their path. These novels are for readers who love epic journeys and love to watch their characters battle fierce beings with otherworldly powers. They are for readers who yearn for great world-building and immaculate, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat action and suspense, with surprises you never see coming. And of course, these novels are for every reader who loves forbidden and hate-to-love romances, and ultimately the love between two sisters.

I absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend this series to every reader who craves a great story as this series is one of the best I've ever read. Thank you, Caroline and Susanne, for the incredible and unforgettable journey ♡

My Erik, fiercely protective and unapologetically in love with Montana his Rebel... :)

My Magnar, Blessed Crusader and badass Warrior of the Sun...

Erik and Montana, forever savoring their stolen moments together....

I am speechless… all I can honestly say is wow this was a great conclusion to Callie and Montanas story🫶🏼 It’s sad to be saying goodbye to these characters especially since we have been on a journey with them over the past 7 books but you will not be disappointed with the ending!

After the cliffhanger of book 6 I was eager to sink my teeth in to book 7 because what I needed was answers and answers is what I got💭

🩸Tropes🖤
- Vampire/Dystopian Romance✔️
- Enemies to Lovers✔️
- Forced Proximity✔️
- Slow burn✔️
- Vampire/Human, Vampire/Vampire Slayer✔️

I am grateful to have been provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts🫶🏼

I was really just glad it was over by the end of it.

This series was too long for the amount of conflict - there is only so much they can do when your bad guys are the gods and some vampire bitch who thinks she should run for some dumb reason. This should have been 5 books - tops. Maybe 4.

Book 6 could have been cut and the conflict in that could have been married to book 5.

And how much of the same argument can we have in one book?!?!?

I'm just a little disappointed in the end of the story. I can't really put my finger on what specifically but there is something missing for me.

Wowowow! Good series!!

If you like Twilight but think Edward is weird and creepy and that the series is pretty cringey, read this instead because it has smut and that always makes it better 👍🏽

Plus there’s Viking Vampire Slayers who are 7ft tall (this is mentioned only about 274728 times in the books)

P. S. I think it’s kinda weird that they named their boy kid Miles and their girl kid Warren… it seems wrong to name siblings after their dead uncle and his husband (aka lovers)

This book was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti!

Eternal Love
is the seventh and final book in the Age of Vampires series and continues the story of Callie, Magnar, Montana and Erik.

So this will be the last review of the Age of Vampires series and I just have to mention that I love all the covers in this series. They’re so pretty and I’d love to have them on my bookshelf!

Let’s talk about the book itself. Eternal Love was such a fast paced read, I finished it in a few days because I had to know how this book was going to end. I mean, the Age of Vampires series was such a good series and I just had to know whether or not the curse could be broken and that they could be together as humans.

I really liked the character development of all the characters in Eternal Love because it had such a huge impact on the story. Some people changed and some people finally accepted their true feelings. I loved reading about them and I loved the ending that they got.

Eternal Love was such an amazing conclusion to Age of Vampires series and I hope that Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti will write another book series together!

Wow... Caroline and Susanne take a bow!!! What an epic ending to an awesome series!! This series has held me captive since the beginning... you ladies sure know how to write a story and especially know how to keep people hanging in suspense for the next book to arrive! To think you two have written 7 books in roughly 3 months, at such a high standard is pretty frickin amazing! This is one of the best series I’ve ever read!
The final book was an action packed emotional roller coaster that I’m still trying to recover from! So much happened and every thing flowed and came together perfectly. I think I held my breath for most of it, praying that there could be a happy ending! It was everything I expected and more.
Most books have a happy ending and your left wondering what happens to the characters, I love the way we had a glimpse into some of their happiness... that they had children, got married, lived together on a hill lol
I am so sad to say goodbye to the characters and this series but can’t wait to see what you ladies have up your sleeves next! Hopefully I will see all these characters on a big screen in the near future, by the gods you deserve it

We continue to follow the group towards the mountain where they will try and end the curse. Given what we have seen in the previous 6 books in the series, this one delivers what you would expect. There are fights, laughs, cries, reflection, bonding and spice. I did feel that the books got weaker as the series went on but the characters got better and more fleshed out. Overall, a predictable end to the series and not my favourite book in the collection but I’m not sure how else it could have been finished (at least not without writing spoilers).

“You had more than a thousand years on earth, more than any man has ever seen. The debt was always going to be high.” - Andvari

As realisation dawns, Magnar is horrified at his transformation and is ready to end his life rather than give into to his thirst. His new combined strength means that the Belvederes are no match for him now. Callie pleads with him to stay with her until they can end the curse.

Grief stricken at the loss of one of their own, the Belvederes make the long and treacherous journey to the holy mountain in a bid to end the curse once and for all. Tensions rise when they run out of blood and are forced to rely on the only two humans in their group, Callie and Julius. Pursued by the relentless Valentina and with a volatile and unpredictable Magnar in tow, they wonder whether they will ever reach Helgafell.

When they finally reach their destination, their relief knows no bounds. Just as the the twins trail ahead to fulfil their destiny and end the curse, Valentina’s forces strike. While the slayers and Belvederes prevent the Biters from going after the twins, Callie and Montana continue on and finally confront Andvari. But will they be ready to pay the price?

You know the book that rocks your world? The one that goes beyond your hope for great reading? The one that shines like a precious rough cut stone? That’s what each book in this series has felt like for me. With each instalment, the authors have deftly managed to push everyone of my reading buttons. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried and agonised over each obstacle faced by each character.

Expertly crafted with a rich tapestry of characters, this series has been a fantastical multi-layered journey of love, redemption and self discovery, leading to a finale that makes you want to return to the beginning and start the amazing journey all over again.

Throughout the course of the series, the authors have exceeded my expectations and Eternal Love was no exception. If I could give this book 10 stars, I would.

This has truly been a thrilling and delightful journey with memorable characters that will stay with the reader long after the final page is turned. I for one am going to miss them terribly. If there is one series this year that I would recommend then this is it.

I was lucky enough to win an ARC for the final book in the Age of Vampire Series. Having sped through the first 6 books in 7 days, I was very keen to read the conclusion. It did not disappoint! Without any spoilers….There was actually a point when I thought, it was over, the characters had done what they had set out to do and it was as far as it was gonna go, I’m sure my heart stopped for a few moments but it was not yet over! Everything tied up nicely and I’m grateful that I was able to read the final instalment a few days early!

What an ending!! I absolutely love the infusion of Viking lore and the way this series is wrapped up is perfect!! So many ups and downs, I was gripped from start to finish and what a finish indeed! I don't normally enjoy longer series (and yes to me 7 books is long haha) but Age of Vampires moved so swiftly with twists to tease my desperation and intriguing characters to hold me enthralled that I'd read it all again. Whether you've yet to read this book or you're worried about starting the series just know that the ending will totally satisfy. Peckham and Valenti have teamed up and by colliding their specialties they've created a riveting fast-paced yet slowly seductive Dystopian Vampire Romance series that is a must read for anyone with even the tiniest spark of interest in such things.

4.5 ⭐️

Disclaimer: I’m going to review it without spoilers at the top, then create a line and anything below that line will be spoilers. Do with that what you will.

This series is over and I’m completely distraught 😭 This entire time I’ve been thinking “god, I want this to be a series or movie franchise”. So many rant and rave about Zodiac Academy and want that for those books, but honestly this series hooked me in WAY more than ZA. This book had me bawling and feeling so many emotions so many times, I might need therapy after reading it 😂

Forewarning that most of what I did or didn’t like will be spoilers because this entire book wraps up these and they’re too interconnected. But I’ll still list the non-spoilers though they’ll seem small.

What I liked:
- Favorite no-spoilers quote: Just being in her presence made my soul hum with satisfaction. We were two halves of the same whole and no matter our choices or curses, our vows or our loves, in the end we still completed each other. // This is between the twins and I loved that this was used for sisterhood vs one of their relationships.
- The end battle scene was extremely unique and interesting. Battle scenes can get boring, but this one drew me in and built some understanding about the gods more.
- Just realized the oppositeness of the twins. They obviously always point out their physical differences. And I called out the irony of their personalities where Montana is portrayed initially as sweet and innocent and softer, yet she’s a mouthy spitfire, whereas Callie portrays being adventurous and strong, but is really a bit more timid/fearful. But it took me until this book to really round it out and realize how opposing they are to their designated soul sign too. Callie is the sun child, which you expect to be loud and brave and fiery, and yet I find she favors softer sides than Montana. Meanwhile, the moon is always depicted as softer and ethereal. Her looks may be that, but Montana is wildly unhinged in the best way possible, calls things out as she sees them, and is the bravest of them all with all the sacrifices she’s made throughout the series.
- Clarice’s happy ending 😍😭
- The authors really left us shocked with how to break the curse and how much further it really went. I wasn’t expecting half of what happened!

What I didn’t like:
- Sand sex isn’t cute or sexy and I won’t be convinced otherwise 😤
- I understand why it happened since it revealed more about his character, but the way Erik treated Montana while grieving pissed me tf off. The first time I’ve ever disliked Erik and I’m his #1 fangirl.
- There’s a happy ending, and it’s great. But I’d honestly have loved to read more around their happy ending, the twins making impacts, etc. After all the struggles, it was such a swift ending.

SPOILER BEYOND THIS POINT
————————————————————

What I liked:
- A moment between two heartbeats was the most poetic and romantic way to describe vampirism when Magnar was trying to come to terms with being turned.
- Callie seducing Magnar to get him to drink. These men don’t stand a chance when the twins set their minds to something 😂
- Erik’s apology to Montana about how he’s treated her while grieving. Not that it was profound, but so many authors allow their FMCs to be be weak and overly forgiving. Instead, Montana made that man GROVEL and kept prodding until she was satisfied with his apology.
- Erik’s sex scene pissed me off sooooo much. I remember starting to read it and I was not liking the energy and I was getting uncomfortable. But the way Montana absolutely eviscerated him, stormed off, and set Erik panicking and realizing how close to losing her he was. The authors handled this scene so well. It wasn’t the typical toxic glossing over. He was held accountable, she reminded him how in control she really is even when he was trying to be, and she set the expectations and boundaries of how she will be treated. A true queen!
- BIG FAMILIARS! This entire time I was waiting for familiars like we see in this book.
- Julius was very flippant with his “offering the world apparently” proposal to Clarice. But somehow, it was the perfect scene for them. Normally, I hate offhanded stuff like this. But this was so cute and kinda uncomfortable but excited for the future and I loved it!
- Erik using “we have the right to bite” against Valentina. It was so fitting.
- The guys finding the twins dead. HATED this scene for obvious reasons, but my god it made me feel all the emotions and I was sobbing.
- The guys being reunited with everyone they knew who died. Again, SOBBING. Elissa and Aelfric being brought back into the storyline made my heart happy. And Magnar’s horse even lol
- Favorite quote: “You were everything I ever wanted,” I breathed as I trailed my fingertips along the cold lines of her face. “And you were too good for me. Too good for this to be your end.” // I never expected my favorite love confession to be from Magnar since I’m so deeply biased about Erik and Montana. But this was everything!

What I didn’t like:
- Fabian deserved his own chapter to make up to Chikoa. I know he’s not a main, but they deserved us seeing his apology, their makeup, etc
- The authors consistently hint at somewhat submissive men. Especially Erik. But even Magnar has his moments. And yet we are NEVER given a submissive sex scene. The authors continued to build Erik into being royalty himself and yet being entirely under Montana’s control. They say it over and over again in so many different ways. And I wanted that to translate sexually. I’m tired of this “always dominant sexually” shit. Erik is a true man because he’s a little babygirl softie. Let him moan and succumb to Montana’s orders dammit! 😤

Original review

This book was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti!

Devious Gods is the seventh and final book in the Age of Vampires series and tells the story of twin-sisters Callie and Montana. This book was previously published in 2019 and is now rewritten and revamped.

Devious Gods is already the last book in the Age of Vampires series. It's so nice that we got to read the revamped versions so close to each other. We didn't have to wait long in between books, which is amazing for my forgetful brain! The Age of Vampires books are perfect for lovers of Fantasy and Dystopian, and I'm so happy that Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti decided to rewrite the series. I really enjoyed reading the original books in 2019, and it's so nice to read Callie and Montana's story again, but now in a revamped version. The main story is still the same, but the authors made some changes to make the story even better.

Devious Gods continues the story of twin-sisters, Callie and Montana. You read in their POV, but you also read in the POV of their love interests, Magnar and Erik. Devious Gods is the last book in the series, but there's still lots of action and romance in this book. This book also has a happily ever after! I really enjoyed the ending, but I did think we were going to get a longer happy ending like the Zodiac Academy books. But, I'm still happy for Callie and Montana.

It was so nice reading the Age of Vampires books again, and falling for the characters again. I really enjoyed reading these books, and I'm also a bit sad that this is the last book in the series. The Age of Vampires books are enjoyable to read because they aren't too thick, there's a good balance of romance and action, and the characters and world are really interesting. I'm going to miss Callie and Montana, but I'm also looking forward to reading the next book by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti!

𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬:
Devious Gods is the last book in the Age of Vampire series, it’s really hard to keep this review spoiler free at this stage with how much has happened. This was the perfect conclusion to both Montana and Callie’s stories and I loved that the Twisted sisters went back and rewrote this series. It really does show their growth as authors over the years. This series has it all from both sad and happy moments, to the sass and banter of our favourite characters as well as the full blown action and guaranteed plot twists. Oh and did I mention there’s VAMPIRES 🙌

𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙚𝙣𝙟𝙤𝙮:
🗡️ Multiple POV
🗡️ Twin sisters
🗡️ Dystopian Paranormal Romantasy
🗡️ Vampires, slayers, Gods & humans
🗡️ Enemies to lovers

It’s been a few years since I read the original versions for this series and I just can’t believe how much changes the sisters have done to this one! That series was one of my favourite reads but this one just got so much better. We have all the extra angst scenes , steam and so much more.

However the best part as always when it comes to these authors is the banter between the characters that ai cherish and highlight like crazy.

Definitely recommending this series to all fantasy romance loving people . It’s dark and crazy and also contains multiple couples throughout the story so beware!

🌟🌟🌟🌟💫

This book was completely full of surprises. I seriously did not expect it to go the way it did & loved every minute of it, even when I was balling my eyes out on the couch with my husband wondering what is wrong with me.

This book will seriously give you all the feels & I am so sad this series is over. I have loved every book that Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti have written together & this one is no different. These two are truly brilliant authors, even if I often curse their name while reading their books, they are always well worth the journey.

I am so glad I carved out the time to read this series, definitely one to read.

"The most powerful creatures in existence united at last. May the gods have mercy on anyone who dares stand against us now."

5 stars!

This book starts off with my new favorite dedication of all of the Twisted Sister's books, celebrating love in all its forms, and I adored how Caroline and Susanne weaved love of all kinds in this brilliant story. C&S definitely did not hold any punches throughout this finale as they will put your heart through the wringer, but my favorite moments were the quieter ones between my favorite characters as they allow themselves to enjoy some peace amid the constant chaos.

I had the immense pleasure of reading this series when they were first released years ago, and I have loved seeing how Caroline and Susanne's writing has evolved since then. I loved this series and its characters years ago, and I can honestly say that I enjoyed it even more now. I hope that more readers pick up this series as it is truly amazing. There is steamy forbidden love, fantastic characters and humor, nonstop action and suspense, twists that only the Twisted Sisters can create, and above all the undying love between two sisters who would do anything for each other and those they love. I cannot believe we've reached the end of another C&S series, but I cannot wait to see what they write next🖤

Tropes: enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine, hate-to-love-you, brooding anti-hero, strong heroine, morally grey hero, heroine with secret past, forbidden love, dystopian setting, vampire royalty, meddling gods, prophecy, STEAMY🔥

My Erik, fiercely protective and unapologetically in love with Montana his Rebel... :)

My Magnar, Blessed Crusader and badass Warrior of the Sun...

Erik and Montana, savoring their stolen moments together....

I loved this ending 😭 there was so much growth from all the characters throughout the series and we get to see the culmination of their efforts. Over coming their hatred and becoming the cutest little found family! Every time I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen something totally unexpected would get me. Had so much fun reading this series and definitely recommend if you like forbidden romances, vampires, cruel gods, and twisted sister writing 🩷

4 ⭐️

For some reason, after Callie and Montana died, I just couldn't get myself to pick the book up. Like Erik and Magnar going into the afterworld just felt flat to me. That's the only reason I'm not rating this a 5. But I did love this series. And I adoreeeeee Erik. I'm so happy that the slayers and the vampires were able to come together and become actual friends. And I'm happy that they broke the curse 🩷 definitely a good series just not as good as Zodiac obviously 😭

Did I skip some parts? Yeah. I was so disappointed with book #6 that I didn’t feel like reading this book at all, but I needed to know how it all ended.

Glad it’s over!

Overall, if it wasn’t for all the dragging, the copy/paste fighting scenes and if we only had 4 books, this series would be a 5 star series for me. But as I got bored with the last books, unfortunately it made it lower and it made me hate the series at the end 😭

i legitimately don't know or what to rate this book, i LOVED THE HAPPY ENDING although i wish we got more time with them being at peace.
maybe it's cause i'm used to long books but this totally have been a little longer.
i feel like everything happened so fast with the whole curse thing..but maybe they just didn't want to drag it out.

4.5 stars for series. One comment on this book is that I wished it ended a little earlier in the story, I thought one part at the end wasn't necessary to the story. But ultimately didn't really detract from series.

A perfect conclusion

I don’t even have the words to describe, how much this book gave me.
A range of emotions, laughter, tears, excitement, anticipation and tension.

Truly didn’t know it can feel this good to follow up on the hangover the previous one left me with.

I’m certainly going to go down a little adventure into their other series!

PS I didn’t even know about booksta/booktok at the time when I picked this series up, so of course I’ll be doing my reviews on each book in this series.

So so excited and grateful, for receiving an early copy of it!
