Adrienne has hit a bump in the road. She's failed in her first attempt at rescuing one of her sisters. In fact, she didnt even make it out with her pants intact! No rest for the weary though, because now she must face every female action heros fashion. Shes rescued herself from captivity in her tower, but can Adrienne escape the bonds of chain mail underwear and leather corsets? The story of the Princess who dared to save herself continues in Princeless #3, written by JEREMY WHITLEY (GlobWorld) with spectacular art by the one and only M. You know how annoying it's been in comics for superheroines to often be (un) dressed in costumes that are utterly impossible (as well as uncomfortable) to save the world in? Well, poor Adrienne comes face to face with the bane of every female heroine--chain maille bikinis, breastplates and stilletto boots. I didn't think I'd make it through this episode because I was in absolute stitches. However, never fear, blacksmith (and new best friend) Bedelia works her skills to create suitable (and kick-ass) armor for Adrienne...and just in time.
Yes, I am totally fangirling (HARD) over this series. What an incredible hidden gem for every geek who loves a great story, great art and lots of laughs.
Hah. The princess needs new armour to rescue her sisters. This issue pokes fun at the traditional female armour (Wonder Woman, Xena etc). And the best part is... The blacksmith is a woman! Proof that women can be in the trades too. Great message.
This one hits you a little over the head with the commentary, especially about women's armor (not that the commentary doesn't need to be said, it obviously does.) But I still loved it.
