I loved this book! The tale of Isobel and Keegan is filled with love, loss, danger and even long lost brothers and is an absolute pleasure to read. Keegan escaped his clan after the death of his father and has grown up in the Stewart Clan with Teigue and Isobel. He would do anything Teigue asks of him and it will be a hardship for him when the ask is to escort Isobel to Clan MacLean with the goal of a possible marriage between Isobel and Darren MacLean - Keegan’s eldest brother. He will go with anger in his heart and the determination to keep Isobel away from Darren. But everything changes when he learns the truth about his father’s death. Realizing his brother isn’t the man he thought he was, Keegan will then decide it’s best if Isobel is wed to Darren as what Keegan learns about himself will lead him to believe he doesn’t deserve her. I love how the brothers, Darren, Marcus and Keegan, are able to rebuild their relationship and I love the lengths Darren will go to in order to get Keegan to admit his true feelings for Isobel. There will be a little bit of a bumpy road on the way to their happily ever after when a rival clan threatens not only the MacLean clan but Darren himself. Keegan joins in to help save kin and clan and will get one more surprise about Isobel before all is done. But in the end, the threat to Clan MacLean will be eliminated and with not only Darren’s blessing, but Teigue’s as well, Keegan and Isobel can finally move on to the rest of their lives together.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Isobel Stewart had met Keegan MacLean when he had shown up at the Stewart keep as a young man. He and her brother Teigue, who was now the Laird of Clan Stewart. Over the years her feeling for Keegan had grown but she had never declared her love to him. When her brother gets message from the MacLean clan that he is calling in the marriage contract between their fathers years ago. Keegan goes with Isobel but has never revealed he was from Clan MacLean. He had left his clan when his brother Darren had killed their father. As the story unravels Keegan finds out the real reason Darren killed their father and his world is upended. Can he make peace with not only his family and Isobel? A happy ending and page turner!

I loved the relationship between Keegan and Isobel in previous books and I’m glad to finally see their story. Isobel’s brother Teigue finds an old marriage contract his father had agreed to which states a Stewart dependent will marry one from MacLaen. Isobel is the only option but none of them are happy about it. Keegan is asked to escort her and see if they can find a way to break the betrothal. But Keegan has a secret that will unfold and set in motion a series of events that make this an interesting story worth reading. My only complaint is that Isobel makes some unwise decisions towards the end.
A great story, but frustrating in that Keegan is so set in the past he cannot see any future. The solution was obvious from the beginning, but I understand it was kept until almost the end, to make a point about redemption, forgiveness and belonging. Honesty between this couple would have solved a lot of problems but then, we wouldn't have the story, or at least not all of it. There was not an obvious connection to the rest of the Cadney alliance, except for Isobel's half-sister, and this is tentative as her husband is not a Laird. Perhaps this could have been strengthened in some way. Nevertheless, the story is as good as the rest of the series.
Other reviewers have given great summaries of this book. All I need to say is that it was a fantastic book, and I highly recommend it!!! It was more than 5 stars for me! I am looking forward to book #11 in this series!
