From an early age Lola Faust's fantasies and reveries tilted towards the unusual and the eccentric. Though she entertained curious private journals, it wasn't until she entered the Paleontology program at the University of British Columbia that her romantic notions concerning dinosaurs took full flight.

While working towards her doctorate, Ms Faust began writing her signature saurian prose. Today she is employed by day at a leading university in her field, but maintains her anonymous and risque personality online.

This was more story than I was prepared for. Only a single sex scene in the entire thing. The premise reminded me a bit of Tammy and The T-Rex, but somehow flowed better than I expected. A little bit of science fiction mixed in with erotic, all balanced quite well. The story could have gone on a bit longer, accentuating the budding relationship between Mirian and The Don, and her final article was fairly underwhelming. So it all just needed some additional development and time to simmer with the reader. But, needless to say, that skin on scale contact was on point. And that's all that mattered.

One star for the absolute gall to write such a story, one star for trying to have a tinge of a plot, and one star for not subjecting me to descriptions of any sort of dino d…

Can’t wait for this to be far down my read list. It had action, it had spice, grumpyxsunshine. A whole lot going on for 50 something pages.
There’s gotta plenty of people into this if there’s so many. I am not one of them.

This one was not it. I needed to see if the triceratops and bottoms was just a good one off or if the rest of the series was equally as wild. Definitely 30 mins I will never get back in my life but an entertaining 30 mins.

⭐️⭐️ 2.5/5
🌶️🌶️ 2/5 (only one brief scene, moderate detail)

Wow. So many mixed feelings.
A few things I did like:
-there was no insane/weird descriptions of Dino d or bestiality
-there was an attempt to bring in a bit of drama and action
-I enjoyed the very brief flight scene, wish that was longer though (it was cute and flirty but kind of off track also)
-loved the change of location, Maldives was a great choice
-a minor character ended up coming back and adding to the plot
-there was a clear connection and tribute to Don Juan which was interesting and unique
-this was a wildly creative combination of ideas, like I said above, this is unique… you’ve never read anything like this.

And a few things I didn’t like:
-some distracting spelling & grammar errors
-keeping in mind the very brief length (56 pages) there were some glaring plot holes
-the sudden correlation that one amazing session of passion leads to an undying love?
-the epilogue was like 1000x too much. Like damn. How did that escalate SO MUCH.
-he had one 10 minute convo with her and somehow that ends up in “it always being her” since always? Even though that was yesterday? The timeline doesn’t add up at all
-what actually happens to Devon at the end? It feels like it doesn’t get clarified or acknowledged even/doesn’t make sense
-the lack of info and relevancy of The Corporation… you can’t just throw that in there randomly at 92% and expect that to make sense
-also, for something labeled “erotica” there was barely one scene of smut and it wasn’t detailed at all

But overall, I was driven to locate Dinosaur Erotica after the reference in King of Pride by Ana Huang and here we are. Mission accomplished. This is definitely, extremely and exactly what it advertises! 😂

this one's a winner!

I've read Lola's books in the past. Triceratops and Bottoms was too much. Dino Stud not enough and Hot Wet Allosaurus Sunmer falling somewhere in between. BUT THIS ONE. This is the Dino book I wanted. We have consent, we have agency! we have some romantic suspense in there at the end and a girl army. Not overly spicy and has some tender moments even if everything is a little rushed. (its 50something pages, it's gonna be quick.) Don Juan Velociraptor is a winner and I will die on this hill. Thank you for this one, Ms. Faust!

I read all of Lola Faust's books this month! I'm a huge dinosaur fan and finally after putting it off decided to go down the rabbit whole and I'm so glad that I did. I feel like they are a must for monster smut and she does a fantastic job.

Each story has it's own unique characters a human girl with her swoon worthy dinosaur. I enjoyed them all each one is unique and very smutty. Highly recommend them. I hope we will see more Dino Smut from the lovely and very talented Lola Faust.

These are the perfect example of dino smut and I love them.

who can resist the Don Juan velociraptor

Super sweet, suave, journalist romance with a velociraptor. Then they go on vacation to finish the article and all of a sudden there were grenades. Like so many grenades. Only one spicy scene. I have questions about the talons.

Ends on a cliffhanger - aghhhhhh

She's a cynical journalist. He has a human mind but a velociraptor's body. She's determined that he should use his inexplicable sex appeal for good...and he has other things on his mind.

It's been a weird week, and we're still here in dino-erotica-land. This is actually one of the less...distressing...books in this series that I've read so far—partly because Don Juan, unlike Stego, has what seems to be a fully functioning human brain and working voice box and can carry on a complex conversation, but partly also because the sex is remarkably tame, leaning towards fade-to-black. I went into the book knowing almost nothing about velociraptor anatomy, and I came out of the book knowing approximately the same amount about velociraptor anatomy, and my inner squick-o-meter is grateful for that.

"All you need to do is tell us where he's hiding," said [the villain]. "You can leave this place as if nothing had happened. No one needs to know about your meeting with him today. Things will be just as they've always been. Better yet, you can be the first journalist in the world to report Don Juan's untimely demise after his scientific team discovered how abusively he was treating so many women."(43)

I almost gave this four stars (because, seriously, the rules go out the window when it comes to this series; nothing makes sense and it could all be zero stars or ten stars; and also I was still grateful for the relative lack of squick), but the plot let me down. Faust is fond of the high-speed dino chases, it seems—there was also one in Dino Stud (though with a different context). But then the book just kind of...ends? Just as it feels like we're about to have a final confrontation and climax,* the book blinks and it's over.

There's also Marian's hot take on Don Juan—she thinks that because he exists and is unusual, he has an 'innate debt to science' (5) and should be...subjecting himself to whatever scientists want to do, I guess? But good gracious, can we talk about the implications of that worldview...? It would mean that 'test tube babies' would be permanently indebted to the scientists who developed IVF and the doctors who performed it, for example, just on the basis of existing. Not to get too grim about it, but let's not get in the habit of holding people responsible for other people deciding to create them, hmm?

I'll stop. Is this all sort of beside the point? Well. Yes. I make no promises about how much weirder it'll get from here...

*The literary kind, not the orgasmic kind

I'm so suprised this book is rated so low. I COMPLETELY understand that this is a very niche erotica genre, but let's be real here, we ALL KNEW that this was Dinosaur/Human Erotica when we decided to read this(or any of Lola Faust's books for that matter), am I right? So when I see many other reviews(and I don't mean hate or drama by this) leaving no real commmentary about why they rated the book so low, I'm generally just kind of confused. I usually come into these reader spaces and read reviews to get informed about what kinds of things I can expect to get out of the book (what feelings it might evoke, what tropes will come up, how it might be plot-light or heavy, etc.). Its just really weird to see lots of low ratings paired with just kind of awe or suprise at theh "absurdity of the content" of the novel.
So, to offset that, I want to genuinely explain why I feel like this short novella is worth 4 stars. For starters, in just over 50 pagers, we see a whole saga play out about a future in which scientific genetic splicing managed to createa suave, well-mannered, intellecual, sentiant Velociraptor with a heightened hormone and pheramone production. When he was introduced into the scientific community, problems quickly arose, because he became a object of lust, and not nowing the reason and purpose for his creation, he was left to fufill the lustful fantasties of his visitors. Our FMC is a reporter who decides to take the task upon herself to interview "Don Juan" the Velociraptor and question his life purpose and why he seems to not care for other scientific purpose. Their interview is one of the turning points of the novel because we see hi question his own creation, we see the people surrounded by him pulled toward temptation, and we see our FMC doing her best to resist it. The obvious guess as to what happens in this interview, is not correct, and revealing more would be a spoiler, and I like to leave spoiler free reviews, so in that litte tidbit of plot set up (which I typically don't rehast in my reviews), I wanted to demonstrate how, yes, even a "simple dinosaur erotica" can have plot-density, character growth and development, and questions of morality and ethics. Maybe it's not "the next best american novel" or even "the best book of the year" but for a book on "dinosaur erotica", I really feel like it shouldn't be so easily dismissed with simple ratings because the premise is silly. That was a given. And I don't think this is a book that should be written off. The reason it wasnt a 4.5 or 5 star for me though, was because I felt like the ending was a bit rushed. I liked the wrap up in the epilogue but I would have rather seen that play out in description rather than an epilogue, but that's just me.

I honestly have no idea who this is for, but it was not what I expected.

My friend and I have giggled over the most outlandish book premises and covers, trying to one up the other in finding the perfect, unbelievably bad specimen. But I feel it's unfair to completely dismiss a genre of book without knowing what lies within, and at 50 ish pages, Don Juan Velociraptor was not a huge commitment.

What I expected was dinosaur erotica. I expected graphic details about genitalia, more tearing of things, gnashing of teeth, fluids...

Instead, there is a lot of champagne, character growth (i guess?), a mad scientist, a shootout, an hint at a sinister overarching conspiracy, more champagne, and... a boring happy ending? It's the most lackluster futuristic half man/ half raptor smut that I was not anticipating.

If you want to know why Don Juan Velocoraltor exists, too damn bad. Not even he knows and he doesn't want to talk about it. What is the conspiracy? Who knows! Not you, at the end, and the characters don't seem too worried about it.

So I don't know who you are who needs this book, but there's more like it. Likely all as honestly vanilla as interspecies love can be. It's not a good book. It's not a well planned book. But it's still a better book than the 50 Shades series so that gives it three stars.

In the year 2117, where science has blurred the lines between man and beast, Don Juan Velociraptor (H) emerges as a genetic marvel, a hybrid of human intellect and velociraptor strength, with a voice that can make anyone weak in the knees. Don Juan is notorious for his seductive power, enchanting hundreds, and leaving passion in his wake. Journalist Marian (h) takes on the assignment of a lifetime to expose Don Juan as little more than hype. Confident in her ability to resist his charms, she embarks on an interview that challenges everything she thought she knew about herself, and about him. As Marian delves deeper into Don Juan’s world, uncovering the sinister motives of his creation, she learns that his life is far from glamorous. Behind the charm lies a being fighting for freedom, purpose, and survival. Against her better judgment, Marian finds herself falling for the man-dinosaur hybrid, even as danger closes in. Hot and steamy monster erotic romance, with a side of intrigue and suspense, exploring love, connection, defiance, freedom, purpose, trust, and societal expectations.

Giving this one star because I can’t give it zero. I read a lot of smut. Like a lot. I had zero expectations from the cover to the blurb on the back… and somehow the book couldn’t achieve that.
If they had left it with Don Juan Velociraptor I would’ve given this at least a star, it’s silly and poorly written but if you buy it for the laughs you won’t be disappointed. But then you get halfway through the book to find another tale titled “9 1/2 Velociraptors” and you are blindsided with *fantasy beastiality*. A female scientist has sex with “actual” raptors; not shifters, not human consciousness in a raptor body. When I got what was happening just closed the book because I got big ick. There is nothing mentioned about this in the blurb and I’m kinda pissed.

[Me after reading other reviews: Holy shit, is this story only in the paperback copy? That’s fucking wild and even further irritating. Hey folks, keep just reading the 60 page story and don’t buy the paper book.]

I believe that there is a book for everyone, but this one might not have been for me. I liked the main character, Marian, and what she stands for. She is someone that does not conform to societal norms and does not see the need for them. Except when it comes to Don Juan. She tries to resist his charms, but he was made to be irresistible. I think the story could have been flushed out more. I was kind of wanting more than what it gave me. There was romance and dinosaurs, which is what I was expecting going into the story, but also a more complex character in Don Juan that I wanted to see more of. There were also a few spelling and grammar errors that took me away from the story. I think the idea is interesting, and definitely something I never thought of before. The cover for this is so pretty. Instantly made me want to read.

A reporter meets with a raptor that women can’t stop throwing themselves at.

Is she denying he’s attractive to convince the audience she’s writing the article for or herself?

the name and premise of this had me so excited. So excited I devoured it in one sitting, but it did fall a little short for me. This felt more described as a short story. There wasn’t enough meat in it.

But the idea was cheeky and I would definitely read more like it

What a strange wonderful short story. I wasn’t entirely sure what this was about I just saw the cover and decide I had to read it. Marian is a journalist hoping to get a good story about Don Juan, a human/velociraptor who has captivated the hearts of many people. Mostly by seducing them with his pheromones. There’s more to the story than that of course but it is the main focus.

Well written and definitely well wrapped up. Though I could have done with a bit more to be honest. I also wanted more from the spice but that was good too.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

If I could give this negative stars I would. The whole two hours it took to read was a wild ride. If you ever wished Jurassic park was smutty this book is for you. The cherry on top was the total lack of scientific explanation to the dinosaur fuck boy. Instead claiming his pheromones were so high women just practically begged to take their clothes off for him. Even with all of his prehistoric sex appeal there is only one sex scene. Which is poorly explained but then again so is a dinosaur screwing. Which he only lasts for TWO SENTENCES! You’re telling me this is a major fuckboy of a dinosaur who has thousands of women screwing him and he lasts two seconds? It’s more of a wet nightmare.

Yes, I actually read this short story.
For starters, it's not erotica. The word "erotic" was used in place of actual erotic content. I've read better in YA books.
Secondly, it was absolutely the most melodramatic story I've ever read.
Lastly, do I recommend it? Umm...only if you are buddy reading with a friend that can laugh hysterically with you and if you're desperately behind on your reading goal. Otherwise, hard pass.

The only reason I'm giving this three stars, opposed to four, is that it was a short story - a little over 50 pages. The characters were not as fully developed as I would've liked and some of the story line a bit questionable (though I get it, the whole idea is questionable!) but, once again, it was a fun ride. I'm really thinking that I prefer Ms. Faust's longer novels - though this one, fortunately, I can see being developed into a full-length novel if wanted by the author.
