I’d seen this book all over my Instagram feed last month and knew I needed to investigate the hype.
I loved it!
It's basically about brokenness, what’s involved in healing, and the importance of redefining purpose.
I loved the reminders: -that God works in our lives to use our unique talents in new ways -that everyone has to figure out for themselves what it means to follow God yet still live in this world -of the importance of glorifying God with our actions and pointing people to Jesus -of paying attention to see God working
The multi-generational characters were beautifully crafted and they all navigated a believable and compelling journey Seeing how each generation faces challenges gives me a great learning experience.
I look forward to Winter Wishes, book 2 of the Seasons of Love series.
This was a quick read while on maternity leave. My son loves to hear my read my stories out loud, so it was nice knowing I wouldn't have to skip parts.
This was so CUTE. (as most of Tara Grace Ericson's books are, haha!) I picked this up on a whim because autumn is the perfect time to read it, and I was not disappointed! It reads like a Hallmark movie, complete with high-powered city dweller who leaves the city for a small town and falls in love with her neighbor's grumpy son. What's not to love?
I will always love Tara's books for the sheer amount of faith content she weaves into every story. This one was truly a redemptive tale, and I loved it for that. The characters pray, and recite scripture, and it brings me so much joy every time! I really liked Charlotte and Luke, they both grew wonderfully throughout the story. The romance was really sweet and I loved the supporting cast! Definitely going to be reading the next book!
Perhaps not the best thing I've ever read (nor, in my opinion, Tara's best work) but it made me smile and gave me all the small-town feels, so for that, it gets 4 stars from me!
This book had a wonderful message that was just what I needed to hear right now. Charlotte is struggling with her lot in life, and Luke is unsure how to move on from past hurts. They have a rocky start, but I loved the pace, faith, and understanding that brought these characters together. Five stars. I've already read another book in this series, and I can't wait to finish the others.
CLEAN CHRISTIAN CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE; it’s okay to lean into your faith to get through a tough time! He is always there for you!! 🤍🕊️ Just like Charlie stumbling across her faith and finding what she didn’t know she needed, I stumbled across this book on a “free book Tuesday” and got a cute Christian romance I didn’t realize I needed 🥹🤍 when I look through the free book lists I go off of of cover and truly didn’t know the synopsis, spice, nor any detail of the book. He knew I needed the reminder to trust in Him.
Favorite lines: 🕊️ “Maybe, if God was her everything, Charlotte didn't need to go back. All she needed was to be right here, in this warm and welcoming church, next to Luke and worshiping the God she'd recently encountered” 🕊️”The marvel of it wasn't in the words the preacher spoke or in the beauty of the music. She was once again reminded that she wasn't alone in her faith.” 🕊️ “Why do I need to leave when I can watch videos and read books” (don’t we all feel this about our escape)
THEMES: 🤍religion, Christianity, finding faith 🤍grief and loss 🤍JESUS SAVES 🤍finding purpose 🤍community: finding true friendship and true love 🤍forgiveness 🤍starting new
Despite being one of the most intimate, personal experiences one could have, always remember you are not alone in your faith and prayer. When you leave it all to Him, what is for your will find you! Whether that be your faith, love, career, or community. Such a great read 😭🤍
Minden is not the place you go to meet people. That is ot why Charlotte headed there. She was running away from a job she loved, where she was betrayed by the person she thought was her best friend. Someone had leaked a secret plan to the press. She felt she new who had done it but had no proof. So she ran. She did not want any friends, she didn't need any friends. She stopped at a diner in town and found a place to rent. But the young man that had lived there formerly didn't want it rented because that is where he felt closest to the wife he had lost a couple of years ago to a bad accident. She did move in and finally became friends with Luke the former renter. She found lots to like about that small town, but it constantly grated on her that she needed to go back to the city and straighten out the mess she had left there.
One day she wrote a note to Luke and her landlord telling she had to go back to find out who she really was. Luke was broken hearted. Buy the book and find out what Charlotte did find out and what she decided to do about it. I think you will enjoy the book as much as I did. A very well written story.
"But I learned a long time ago that God’s plans and our plans are often very different. And I also learned that His plans are infinitely better. After my initial disappointment of not getting the job, I realized that it meant He had something even bigger and better for me. And the fact is, he could take everything away—and though it might be tougher to swallow, I know it would be the best thing for me.” -Joe
This is the very first book in my Kindle App and I just finished reading it this morning. 🤭
I love the story, it is reminiscent of the movies Runaway Bride (though there is no bride running away from her grooms here haha) and Safe Haven. Also reminded me of the Novel Little White Lies. You have to read it to find out why. 😉
This one can be a really good romance movie that will not just melt your heart but will also make you realize that even when everything is messy, when everything is falling apart, God has a plan and it is always for the best. Our hardships and past hurts always come with a purpose. 🥹
I like the serene vibes of Minden and the warmth of all the people in this small town. The description of the place and people is so relaxing for me. The flow of the story is good, it's like I'm really watching a movie.
I recommend this book if you are looking for a romance novel with cozy vibes. 👍 Also, I inserted the song Don't Stop Believin' because I think it perfectly matches our smalltown boy and city girl that shared their love in the small town of Minden. 😍
I needed a quick read on my phone and picked this book out on my Kindle APP. It was a free download offer at one time so I took the chance. The author is new-to-me, and happily a good one. This is a Christian romance, so if talk of faith and God and Jesus turn you off from a story, then this may not be for you. For me, I found the characters appealing, the talk of God tasteful, and the community of Minden a place I would like to settle down in myself. Charlie's descriptions of reading people were quite interesting. Her ability to work her way through her betrayal felt "real", sometimes messy, but ultimately a combination of faith, hard work, friends, and facing fears. It was a process. I wouldn't mind reading more from this author, or from this series.
The main lady in the story Was A person with a lot of fears, a backstory to beat it all and was searching for something A person with a lot of fears, a backstory to beat it all and searching for something but didn't know A person with a lot of fears, a backstory to beat it all and was searching for something but didn't know what. She found it in this small town with friends and neighbors that she got to know more personal. I like the characters I like the story And of course being Christian based I can find no fault with that at all. This is a book worth reading especially if you're doubting your path in life.
Charlotte was put on leave from her work because an important document was leaked to the press she felt like she was being stalked so she ran. She ended up in Minden where she rented a cottage from Miss Ruth against her son in law’s approval. Luke is Miss Ruth’s son in law. He and Charlotte start out on the wrong foot but manage to grow closer the longer she is in town. What happens when she hears the company she had worked at was being sued over something they thought was her fault? This is a wonderful story of Christian faith.
Faith filled, sweet swoony, but realistic characters! Luke and Charlotte seem worlds apart. He's a small town widower taking care of himself and his mother in law whom he affectionately calls "Mom." and she's a big city girl looking to rest and reset after both her world and job seem to come crashing down. Can Luke and Ruth, his mother in law, help Charlotte find God, her true identity, and a home and family? I'm already looking forward to reading book 2@
I'm all in for a conquering hero who swoops in to save the day, and while I think Luke would have loved to fight all Charlotte's battles for her, it was a nice change of pace for her to want to fight them on her own. (They didn't really have any other choice, but still.)
The story was sweet (Ruth might be my favorite character) and the characters asked a lot of good questions. They had to wrestle to find the answers.
All in all, I would 100% recommend "Falling on Main Street" for a light, Christian romance read. I really enjoyed reading it.
Wonderful start to what I’m sure will be a good series. I always have to note that the long span of time between when I started reading this book and finished reading this book and no way has to do with the enjoyment of it. I read this for a book club that meets weekly and we have set amount we read each week. Trust me… Have I not had those limits? I would’ve read this one within a day or two.
I love that this is more than just a romance. This is about healing for both Luke and Charlotte. It’s about redemption. And I loved watching Charlotte heart being open to the Lord and his salvation and her journey of faith.
I do enjoy reading a good clean romance novel...BUT, I do NOT enjoy reading books with as many typos in them as this book had. One or two, (we are human ) after all, but there were far too many in this sweet novel and frankly it took away from the enjoyment of reading it. If I had been reading a hard copy and not on my Tablet, I would have taken my red pen and circled the mistakes, but I didn't want to ruin my Kindle. 😀
I enjoyed hearing about the faith journey of the characters as well as their romance. I really appreciated that the author touched on the physical temptation that the characters would have felt, as well as how they handled it. While parts of the dialogue were slightly cliche, I enjoyed the book overall. I believe I saw that this was the author's first series. I look forward to continuing with the series, as well as trying out some of her newer works.
The author has given us a story that draws us right into the life of her characters. Charlotte, who was unfairly treated by her employer and colleagues, moves to another community to try to find some rest and relaxation. What she found was definitely not what she expected. But there was unfinished business back home. Sit back and enjoy this beautiful story that is pure and clean to read.
I am all caught up with the Bloom family series by Tara Grace Ericson so I decided to go give her first series a try. I am glad I did. Falling on Main Street is her first book in the Main Street Minden series. She writes characters with such depth and really captures the small town feel. I enjoyed getting to know Charlotte and Luke and other residents of Minden. This was a totally clean romance that also dealt with issues of grief, forgiveness, starting over, learning to trust and love again, etc. I am looking forward to the rest in the series.
It was apparent when Luke and Charlotte didn't like each other much that something was going to happen! Lol. I loved watching the growth of both. Well written! I enjoyed this book greatly!
This story demonstrates how disillusionment and loss can lead people to God and His peace. It demonstrates how turning to God with faith leads to the better things that He knows His children need. Great heart wrenching and heartwarming story.
I loved this book. Charlotte needed to escape from her life for awhile and in doing so, found the place where she belonged. Luke had been through a lot and seeing him finding happiness again in her, was so beautiful. I liked them, they were an amazing couple
This is my second Tara Ericson novel and she once again hit the nail on the head. It was sweet, God-focused, and had the right amount of romantic tension without crossing the line. Another refreshing Christian romance to recommend to the women in my family.
It was such a pleasure and joy to read Luke and Charlotte's story. Her journey to faith and his journey to re-committing to his faith are blessings and perfect reminders of God's long-suffering grace and mercy. So beautiful.
I enjoyed getting to know each of the characters. At first, Luke seemed immature, but he grew on me. I will read more by this author if I find another bargain 🙂
An eye opening story with characters that are real and heartwarming. The storyline follows how Charlotte has run from her problems but finds God and love in a most unlikely manner and place.
