Five HOT AF Stars
Vampyr, Mortal, And GOD! Oh, MY!
Hot Damn, Mors and Avea are scorching hot. Avea is half-mortal, half-vampyr. At the same time, Mors is the God of Death. In desperate need of help, Avea seeks help from Mors and makes a deal for ten years.
While Mors acts god-like, he is unaware that Avea will challenge him. She is fierce, fearless, strong, and intelligent. I love Mors. Even Death deserves love.
The author has yet to disappoint me. I know she will write a book that is not only compelling but it’s also spicy. She created a word in such great detail. I love it when an author does this, and I can picture it.
This book is for you if you’re a PNR or fantasy reader.

I really enjoyed the story of this book. An I liked the tie In with the first book. I gave 3 stars because it felt rushed in a lot of places and it felt like parts of the story is missing.

Court of Death held me in its cold clutches right from the start and didn’t let go until the end and I loved every second of the journey.
Avea finds the one person she cares about in life at deaths door and then literally finds herself at deaths feet. Death, aka Mors, is fascinated by the woman kneeling before him begging for the life of another at the expense of hers. Not much in his long lonely godly existence has surprised him but she does so he offers something other than death.
Avea may have begged for help but she is far from a weak wallflower. She is light and life and grit in a powerful package. Mors knows this and knows she carries secrets and he is desperate to own her body, mind and soul.
Avea never expects to find Death so captivating and Mors never expects to actually feel.
Mors and Avea start to bond the more time they spend together and understand each other on a level neither was ever expecting. The chemistry and intimacy between these two was incredible and I had no problems with the amount of steam in this story. I reveled in it. It was plentiful and so spicy.
But not everything is easy and danger and politics comes for the two of them, especially after Avea discovers her past. But Mors and Avea will fight tooth and nail for their happily ever after.
I loved this. It was hot, action packed and the world building was unique. Mors was all alpha male and grumpy but had a tender spot for his mate. Avea was strong and didn’t back down from a fight. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait to see what’s next in this world.

I'm sorry, but this book was horrible. I did not like it at all, the writing was horrible, it barely had a plot, and it made no sense to the original story.
I went into this blind, and thought it was actually more of a continuance of court of nightmares, and not a separate story. But when I realized it was about the god of death I was excited, cause he intrigued me from the previous book.
The last book was just ok for me. I found it was more smut than plot, but I liked the plot a lot. This story? Had like no plot. It was confusing, I didn't get what was going on, nothing was happening for over half the book. The characters are extremely one dimensional and their personalities change. It was insta-lust straight to insta-love. No tension or buildup. The aspects where they had "issues" or "broke up" was literally over the stupidest reasons, if you even want to call it a reason. The FMC started out strong and determined, and then just turned into nothing. She was magically all of a sudden powerful and cocky. The god of death seemed cold and powerful only to turn into a pile of mush.
The ancient ones seemed like it was gonna be a cool plot point or somewhere for the story to go and it was just so flat, and they did nothing with the storyline.
And the smut was like a fraction of the previous book. Like there was still a lot, but the previous book was like 70% smut and 30% plot. This book was like 10% plot, maybe 40% smut and then 50% nothing.
It's a pass from me. Nothing about this was appealing or worth the read. I should have DNF'ed but I kept having hopes the story would pickup, and it didn't.

2,5/5 Stars! I don’t even know where to start with this one. I loved the first third, loved Death and his Loki vibes and Avea promised to be a great heroine. But then Mors became too soft, way too touchy feely and Avea just always gets angry and does not seem to have any character development. The middle part is kind of boring and then she gets so OP and the story sidelines Mors completely and it just…gets annoying in the end. The smut was also mostly repetitive and lost its appeal over the course of the book.
Also, the end felt really half-hearted. She kinda dies and because of that she cannot be killed without taking the world down with her? Just felt too easy and random. And the gods were really boring and flat as well.
So it started really amazing but lost most of its appeal throughout the course of the book. I am a Little disappointed because I felt like Mors had so much potential. Still read it in a day tho.

What a fantastic series K.A. Knight has written in her Courts and Kings series.
This book is the second of the series and while they are standalones, the judges from book 1 popped in for a couple cameos and it was great 🗡️ 😈.
The world building has been fantastic as were the characters of Avea and Mors who is the god of death 💀
I will be reading all these books as they come out.

Together they’re chemistry is off the charts!
This storyline is amazing and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Honestly, the second standalone in this series surpassed the first one for me. I found Avea and Mors' relationship more captivating in this book than in the initial standalone of the series. Avea discovers the one person she deeply cares about on the brink of death, and she soon finds herself facing mortality. Death, also known as Mors, is intrigued by the woman kneeling before him, pleading for another's life at the cost of her own. Few things have surprised him in his long, solitary divine existence, but she does. Hence, he offers something beyond death. Although Avea sought help, she is anything but a weak bystander. She embodies light, life, and resilience in a formidable package. Mors recognizes this and understands she harbors secrets, yearning to possess her entirely – body, mind, and soul. As Mors and Avea spend more time together, a profound bond forms, and they connect on a level neither expected. The chemistry and intimacy between them are remarkable, and I thoroughly enjoyed the intense passion in their story. The abundance of steamy moments was delightful and added spice to the narrative. I particularly appreciated how K.A Knight introduced the "Judges" in the second book; it was a clever twist that seamlessly complemented the plot. I am eagerly looking forward to delving into the third book of the "Courts & Kings Series."

This book grips you from the prologue. It's one of those books that grabs your attention from the getgo and never lets it go. It was fast paced and never a dull moment. The literal god of death falling in love with a mortal? Swoon.
My favorite part of this whole book was the development of the relationship. The way they grow to love and care for each other was such an enjoyable read. Going from tolerating each other because of a deal to being willing to, literally, die for one another. It wasn't insta love, either. They really had to work for it which I appreciated.
The spice was definitely 🔥🔥🔥. It was enough to make you blush.
If I had any complaints it would just be that the spice was a little much in some areas and got a bit repetitive. Other than that I really can't find fault with this book. It has the forbidden yet undeniable attraction, found family, and a happy ending.

Court of Death is book 2 in the Courts and Kings series and like any other book by Katie I have read, it was amazing. I only starting reading her books about a year ago, and there is nothing I have read so far that I have not thoroughly enjoyed.
We follow Mors, the God of Death and Avea who is half mortal/half vampyr (but we soon find out that is not all she is).
We find out that Avea wakes up in a magical forest when she was just a child. She has no idea how she got there and she has no memories of her life before then. She manages to survive until Mateo, the person who becomes her best friend/brother finds her.
We jump forward and she desperately needs help to save Mateo, so she visits Mors to make a bargain with him if he will save Mateo's life.
Mors is intrigued by Avea, so he agrees. The bargain is 10 years of her life and she will do anything he commands of her during that time. After all to a God, 10 years is just a drop in the ocean.
Both Mors and Avea have led lonely lives, so it was great to see them opening up to each other, the longer they were together.
Their relationship wasn't easy at first, as they did hit a few bumps in the road (like when he left her to do his job, not realising the mess he left her in after getting her worked up).
Avea starts to get some new powers, not linked to her human/vampyr half, but the side of her she is just starting to find out about. She has to learn how to wield and control them without harming herself or those close to her.
And we haven't talked about the spice. There is lots & lots of spice.

I finished Court of Nightmares and got MASSIVELY distracted with my TBR, so months later I’ve finally made it back to read Court of Death. I expected somewhat similar storyline, probably in the same world but other than that had no clue what to expect having skipped over the blurb. What I definitely didn’t expect was this portrayal of Death!! Yes you have the typical ‘touch her and d*e’ trope and yes hes kinda got Doberman energy, but he was so kind! The way he’s portrayed as a lonely bored man who is kind and patient, compassionate and loving was not on my bingo card. I LOVED IT!! He gives off the perfect soft dom vibes and it hooked me right back into the Courts & Kings world!

Avea is currently a vampyr living within a vampyr court after her “brother” rescued her from a forest she was living in. After her “brother” Mateo is attacked and dying her only option to save him is to beg the god of death to spare him. Death agrees to save Mateo in exchange for Avea’s body and soul to belong to him for 10 years.
I loved this book. This book was exactly what I was looking for. Avea is a strong FMC but has little knowledge about her family or early years on earth. Death is a broody but surprisingly tender hearted MMC who has been alone since the beginning of time. Death is drawn to Avea for reasons he isn’t aware of. The spice in this book was perfect, the chemistry between Avea and Death was so good, and deaths shadow/power appendages 🥵. Definitely recommend! As always, check for TWs and happy reading!

The dynamic between Avea and Mors is captivating, as they navigate through unexpected twists and turns on their journey together. As Avea uncovers her past, there is just the right amount of drama and power struggles to keep the reader hooked. And let's not forget the enticing preview for the next book - I'm eagerly waiting for the rest of this series to unfold. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Oh, I’m sorry, did you say Death God Romance?? K, take my money. This book was sooooo cute. We love a moody broody god set in his ways who finds a tiny little bundle of sass in the form of a girl who cracks his entire understanding of the world. Literally my favorite.

DNF at 34%. It was a push just to get this far, but I allowed all of the positive reviews to keep me going. Unfortunately, this was just so disjointed and felt like so many pieces were missing, that I couldn’t keep going. There was no true world building or explanation of how things worked. Anything given was vague at best and felt as though the only way to get through it was to ‘just go with it.’
This felt less like a fully fleshed out novel and more like some type of fan fiction. With hardly any description, minimal backstory and no clear motivations for each character. It also felt as though both characters’ convictions and personalities were constantly shifting. And not in the way that would indicate that their opinions or thoughts were changing. It felt more like inconsistent writing.
And don’t even get me started on the bizarre sexual things. It wasn’t sexually angsty with a good build-up. It was just twisted and WEIRD. I LOVE a good spicy romance… but the key here is to have ROMANCE. This was just too weird for me. And not worth my time.

Oh. My. God! This book!!! Avea, I don't blame you one bit, I'd fold too for the God of Death. Wow. Court of Death was absolutely amazing! If you read Court of Nightmares, you're already familiar with the God of Death, since he had a part in the first book, and when I saw he would have his own book I was literally counting down the days until I could get my hands in it. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I seriously could not stop reading! Anyway, a little bit about the story...
Avea is a mystery even for herself, she doesn't know where she came from and how she ended up in the magical forest that allowed her to stay. She knew she was half vampyr, but she did not know whatever else she was, only that she could feel she was different and had more hiding within her. Throughout the book, she'll discover more and more of her past and finally be able to understand more of who she really is, with the help of someone she never expected to be an ally. Death.
Death is... death. He is called by many names but no one really knows the deeper parts of himself until Avea comes along. After taking care of souls for millennia, Death never imagined there was more to it than his duty. What he always thought was a weakness, emotions, feelings, love, will end up being his greatest strength.
This book was absolutely amazing! I loved every second of it and I was so sad when I finished, I really loved it. I already know I'll be rereading it soon and I can't wait to add this beautiful book to my collection, along with Court of Nightmares, which I highly recommend everyone to read before this one. These are interconnected standalone books but the experience is so much better knowing some of the characters already. I loved it! 5 stars for sure!

Much like its predecessor, Court of Nightmares, this has absolute top tier for spice.
With tropes such as fated mates, restless gods, vengeance, found family and vampires the book was a page turner and I found myself finishing this in just a few short hours.
I did overall enjoy this more than Court of Nightmares, but again I did find that the “big battle” was over before I barely began. Maybe I’m just used to High Fantasy, with intense and heavily detailed wars/battles. But for me this was my only criticism of this book.
Although Court of Death is not an actual sequel to nightmares, what I did like the subtle hints and cameo appearances of that book.
I know that there are more of these planned, something tells me that they’re all going to be linked subtly until the last one where they may all come together!

The story of court of death was great, but the first book and the third book are 500+ page books so in my opinion I think they’re could of been more to Avea and Mors story. I love that we learned what Avea was but it was mentioned that the Ancient Ones created the Gods, so is that how the God of Death was made — like that could of been explained or touched on more. But, I did love them together because Mors is seen as this horrible god because of death but in reality he is just helping souls cross over to another world and he does it with kindness. Avea who is pretty much left for dead by most people is absolutely ravenous, she was an absolutely BAD BITCH — I just know her and Althea could be besties. But life and death are one just like Avea and Mors.

Not enough stars for how much I loved this book
First off let me say that K.A Knight is one of my favorite authors. She is one of the few authors that I will buy her books without reading them first because I have that much faith in how much I will love it. I swear with each new book of hers that I read they just keep getting better and better. I loved the plot, the characters and spice in this book. Whenever Avea and Mors fought it had me laughing they are so perfect for each other. Such a sweet little love story between two people. One that didn't know he could love and another that always felt she wasn't loved.

Very cute chemistry between Avea and Mors. I liked that this had WAY LESS smut than Court of Nightmares. It was a good balance between smut and plot.
