Holly Edgemont used to love celebrating Christmas, that is, until her whole world was turned upside down by an unexpected divorce from her college sweetheart Brant. This year, not only is she divorced, but the kids are going out of state with her ex Brant, leaving her utterly alone. Holly's party-girl friend Sloane tries to break her out of her frump by dragging her along to holiday parties where Holly meets cute and available Chris. But when Holly realizes that she still has feelings for Brant, she has a decision to make: Learn to trust her long time love who broke her heart, or move on for good.
Brant Edgemont is a divorced father of three, and hopelessly in love with his ex-wife, Holly. He made the biggest mistake of his life walking out two years ago. Despite his pleas to reconnect, Holly still resists him. Is it too late to rekindle their love? Or will Holly move on for good, leaving Brant himself heartbroken and alone?
Down To You is not just a romantic love story. It is a story of familial love, friendship, betrayal, redemption, and the magic that can happen at Christmas time when friends and family join together.

There is nothing I love more than a love story that reunites lovers and see's them get their HEA! Except maybe a love story that reunites lovers at Christmas!!
The moment I read the synopsis of this book I WAS IN!!
Holly and Brandt had the perfect marriage, that is until they face a crisis that tears them apart. Now, I have to stop here an state yet again how important COMMUNICATION is in a relationship!! But then, I guess without the fall of their marriage we wouldn't have this amazing story of love and redemption!! I'm just sayin'!!
Now 2 years later, divorced and both incredibly unhappy because they both still love each other, Holly and Brandt need to decide if it is possible to lay the past to rest and put their family back together! With the help of their friends and family it is absolutely beautiful. My favorite thing about this story is the love! The love between our couple and their friends and family! Everyone should have friends and family like the ones in this story! I cried a couple of different times in this book and to me that is the sign of a great story!
This story has a little bit of everything, love reunited at Christmas, a beautiful New Years Eve wedding, with a bar fight thrown in to give out hero a little Alpha action!!
This book was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review and I thank you Addison, this was a beautiful story!!
When feelings of guilt, loss and failure send a young father into a mental tailspin, he walks out on his family and the only woman he will ever love. Two years later, Brant is miserable, his ex-wife Holly is miserable, and once again, the former beauty and sparkle of the holidays is tarnished. Brant has begged for forgiveness, but Holly isn’t willing to listen. Enter Holly’s best friend, the quirky, eccentric, wealthy and wild, take-charge-kind-of-woman, Sloane. What unfolds is a whirlwind of holiday fantasies and dreams come true!
Down to You by Addison Kline holds the warmth and magic of the holiday season as two broken people find that healing from the past and hope for the future are found in four simple letters: L-O-V-E. Ms. Kline has written a true story of love, rising from the ashes of pain and burning bright again with her inspired holiday romance that is filled with remarkable characters, some a little flamboyant, some a little devilishly clever, but all very endearing! This is one of those heart-warming stories that just plain feels good, a wonderful addition to those sigh-worthy holiday reads that just glows.
I received a review copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, and honestly, I suggest you forego the mascara and grab a roll of paper towel, because a box of tissues will never do!

“Well here it is. Here is all that I have to give. Everything in my life comes down to you.” Brant –Down to you
I received an Arc in review for an honest review.
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. It was such an easy flowing read. Addison Kline did a great job on her first romance novel.
Brant and Holly were destined to be together but tragedy strikes and their lives are just not the same. The connection and pull between the two characters is so intense. They know there’s a spark left but they’re not sure if they should ignite it or let it die out completely. This book will tug at your heart strings and make you think about what true love is. Everyday life can put strains and stresses on a marriage but how people go about making it work is the most important thing.
Addison Kline teaches the readers about the need for communication in a marriage. This is a key factor. She has a way of luring you into the characters thoughts and helps you understand their actions.
The characters were described in such detail that I felt like I knew them personally. The supporting characters worked so well that Addison better be coming out with some sequels to this book.
I recommend this book to anyone that loves a great romance novel. A great cuddle read!!!
Down To You is a cute story based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania about a man and a woman with three young children who recently separated and divorced. It's a story about grief and loss, but also forgiveness and unconditional love. Although I'm not usually a big fan of shorter stories, I felt this book was the perfect length based on the events that took place. I really enjoyed the storyline behind the writing, an ex husband and wife rekindling their relationship, helplessly in love, unable to move on from each other.
Holly and Brant Edgemont met many years ago while they were in college in a cafe where Brant was employed. They hit it off immediately later getting married and having 3 beautiful children. An unexpected work trip comes up while Holly is pregnant with their 4th child and Brant is sent to Hong Kong. While he's away, everything changes. It isn't until he returns that everything falls into the pits.
Will they ever be able to put the pieces back together and live as a family again? Will the trust between the two of them remain the same? Brant's best friend and best man in their wedding, Chris, takes a turn against him as he chases after Holly. Chris is well aware Brant still loves Holly but he doesn't care- he wants her, in the worst way. Will Holly choose Brant or Chris? Or will she choose neither of them and stay alone?
I enjoyed reading this story because it's unique. Most romances start with a heartbroken woman who finds the perfect battered man and it's all hotness, sexy, hopeless romance. Down To You is different, the plot focuses on forgiveness, sadness, devotion, and yearning. I was rooting for Brant the whole time! I wanted to walk into the story and tell Holly all of the things that Brant couldn't bring himself to say to her.
As I stated enjoying this read, I awarded it 3 stars for these reasons: it needs some more editting, for starters. I am in no way a grammar nazi but there were misspellings and words that weren't meant to be the word displayed. Also, the storyline was unique but I thought it lacked spark. I wanted something more to come in the way between them. Maybe infidelity, a previous boyfriend/girlfriend, some sort of substantial issue. I was looking for more drama, more grief, something to keep me sucked into the book. Two thumbs up to the author for writing an adorable love story with a HEA- we all love happy endings. :)
Romance is not a constant byproduct of love. Real love is standing by one another and supporting each other through the good times and the bad. We all make mistakes, but the important thing is that we learn from them and move onto a more positive path
This was a great story of second chances, and of course closing ones self off from another is NOT always what is best!
Brant ~ What to say, he's your typical all around guy who made a mistake. True, I didn't see it as divorce worthy but hey to each their own. He tried to explain what happened and as to WHY he did what he did, but Holly refused to even give him the chance.
How could someone so familiar, still manage to surprise me after all these years?
Holly ~ She's too stubborn for her own good when it comes straight down to it. When she finally did see the situation for what it truly was, she realized her mistake.
Overall its a great story, short and fast paced taking place over a month. I laughed quite a few times while reading it.
“Oh my God, I’m in fashion hell!” yelled Sloane as she jumped back in shock as if the off-brand clothing were about to gobble her whole. ~ Sloane
I don’t ever remember reading a work where the emotions jumped so rawly from the page. It’s definitely the characters’ emotions that carry this story forward so fully. This is also one of those stories that really makes you realise what one moment of miscommunication can do. Kline tells a very solid story in a thought provoking manner that you’ll barely be able to put down. I quite enjoyed how her descriptions ranged from subtle to vividly popping depending on what was being highlighted at the time.
The main characters in this tale are quite well developed. I like how Kline really shows you both sides of their tale. It allows you to identify with both of them, rather than having a good guy & a bad guy. For the most part the supporting cast is developed in a manner that allows them to carry the story forward without overshadowing the main characters nor being simply a name on a piece of paper.
This is one of those stories that’s perfect for Christmas, or any time of the year really.
Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Ok this was an OK read. Its a second-chance romance, and I'm all for those. Here's my problem, I didn't really understand why there needed to be a second chance. Not sure if its just me, but most marriages/break-ups happen AFTER they tried everything..to just boom pull the trigger, is very unrealistic to me, even more so when kiddos are involved.
Now with that said. This was a very fast, fun read. I loved that it was based around Christmas and New Years. I loved the 2 pov's, it provided more of an insight of what the MC's where thinking and doing. The secondary character where very entertaining, with their clever remarks, or the way of reading and handling a situation. Good times.
My fave thing of the whole book was the flash back of them meeting. It was by far the sweetest scene I've read in a long time.
If you're looking for a light, fun, holiday read then look know further.
WOW!!! This book was AMAZING!! I finished it in about 4.5 hours and I never do that!! I was given an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Down To You was beautifully written and truly came from the heart. True love, real love is not always easy to find. This is a story of two people although divorced, who really, truly love each other, they just weren't very good at communicating with each other and when the going got tough Brant got going.. It's almost Christmas and Holly realizes that the kids are going with Brant and she will be home alone.. Once Brant picks up the kids it reminds him of what he's known since the day he walked away; his family is incomplete. Will Brant and Holly be able to open the lines of communication and talk out their problems or will Holly decide to move on once and for all? You will have to read the story to find out! I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it!
To be perfectly honest, I am not much of a mushy love story kind of person. I tend to stick to the action packed paranormal world. But when I got offered an ARC copy of Down To You I decided what the heck. I read the entire book in one hour. I couldn't put it down and if I wasn't at work, I would have cried more than once. Holly and Brant's story is an amazing journey and author Addison Kline makes me believe that happily ever after is possible. They have wonderful friends and family that support them and they stay true to themselves and each other. I look forward to reading more of Addison's work and just a reminder when you read this, have tissues near by.
This is a book that tells you not to give up and have hope. It's the perfect holiday book. I totally fell in love with Holly and Brant. Wow was sad when they got divorced. I wanted them to get back together. This is a true holiday miracle story. It was so bittersweet sweet and a book that tugged on my heart. Highly recommended this book. I can't wait to read more from this author. :-)
Down to You is a sweet carol with a Christmas time setting about a divorced couple struggling with heavy emotions during the holiday season. Reflecting on the past and searching for a future, Holly and Brant find what they are looking for is already in their hearts. It is a touching story of hope, second chances and the endurance of true love.
OMG.... This was a wonderful holiday LOVE story. Brant was a man on a mission and his ideas with help from family and friends stole my heart as well as Holly's.
The mail from Brant to Holly is what did me in... I had a tear come down my face. This is a WONDERFUL story that will have you believing in fairytales.
I read the description of the novel and my heart began to sing. I was so excited and then BAM! Giant LET DOWN!
I expected romance and drama but this novel turned out teenish, at best. I think a 5 year old (my 5 year old) would behave more adult like that these characters did.
WOW!
Yeah, this novel certainly wasn't to my tastes at all. It had potential but it didn't get there, IMO.
Love love love! It's one of the few books I want to read over and over again. It's an excellent romance story that's not unrealistic like some other novels. I can't wait for the next one!
Holly used to love celebrating Christmas, but this year is different. Her children will be spending Christmas with their father. Her best friend, Sloane, decides she needs a holiday season of partying. Sloane takes her out to Rogue (which was the restaurant she and her ex had their first date) and her ex's best friend is there. He asks her to dance which she decides to do since she has had a few drinks and hasn't danced for a while. Sloane's boyfriend sends a photo to Brant, her ex, showing them dancing. It derails all the plans he had as he rushes home. Will he stop something from happening between Holly and his ex-best friend? Will he get Holly to listen to him? Will he get Holly back?
I enjoyed this story. Holly and Brant are miserable apart, but Holly has shut herself off from Brant because he was not available when she needed him two years earlier. She will not listen to him. Her friends decide it's time for her to listen. I liked the plotting of the friends and family around Holly and Brant. It's cute.
This is a feel-good story about second chances and communicating with one another. Holly's parents also get into the groove. It also shows that love does not die because you divorce. You just have to work harder and together to get the love and trust back. The epilogue was a bit preachy and did not need to be there. The story ending on New Year's Day was perfect.
This is a contemporary romance. This is the first book in the Love on Edge series but could be read as a stand alone. But I personally can not wait to read more. This book show us the strain on a marriage and how things can fall apart sometimes. But true love never dies and when mended it can be better than before. And sometimes that best friend can be the link to reunite love, I would love a bestie like Sloane. And I adore the name Brant. This is the perfect get your cup of hot chocolate, sit under a blanket and read. Just in time for Christmas... what a perfect gift for someone.
This is the Holly Edgemont's story, she is a single mom of three. Who is secretly still in love with her ex husband. Yes secretly because she doesn't want to forgive the pain he caused her. What makes it even harder is she has shared custody with him and he is coming to get their children for Christmas. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, well before, the divorce. But to make it worse this year, she is going to be alone. Unless her best friend Sloane gets her way and they will make every holiday party on the list. Maybe Holly can meet another man and help her to get over Brant her ex, forgive or forget right?
Brant Edgemont is Holly's ex husband. He is devoted to their children completely, and still in love with her. He handled a tragic situation completely wrong but he is trying to make amends. The problem is Holly will not even allow him a moment to explain. Brant is determined to win back her heart, and he will do anything to make it happen. Including teaming up with her family and friends. But is Brant too late, will Holly move on and let her past (him) go?
Favorite passages: "This look always worried Holly because she knew that Sloane had a bag of tricks the size of Montana up her petite sleeve." "Oh, he's a real a**hole, but you'll eventually get used to it."<3 "Calgon was not equipped to take this meltdown away." "Sloane gave Holly a look of total disbelief as she walked across the hardwood floor sounding like a horse trotting slowly through downtown." "He sat there, drinking her in like a fine wine reserved for a special occasion. " "They were not rich in money, but they were wealthy with love."<3 "No one as fabulous as me! Now listen up!" "You walk around with a big piece of me wherever you go." "The tide had pulled them under and refused to let them go." "We need to trade in the plastic piece of crap tree in your living room for the real thing." said Brant feigning disgust over Holly's artificial Charlie Brown Christmas tree." "It's not for you, it's for her! My little fashionista!" "Marv perked up, "I do Again." "They were more at home together than they were apart." "Holly and Brant fought through the storm, and waited through the rain for the sun to shine again."
I had the honor of receiving this book as an ARC by the author. Down to you was an extremely easy read, I finished it within a few short hours. It is such a sweet story about the struggles of marriage and divorce. How true love will overcome all.
Holly and Brant had a great marriage. Children, love, family and friends, who could ask for more. Three years ago, Brant was asked to travel for work. Reluctant to leave Holly, who was pregnant at the time, she finally convinced him to go, that she could handle it. Only, soon after Brant left, Holly suffered a miscarriage and severe hemorrhaging, resulting in emergency surgery.
The events that unfolded after the miscarriage was straining their perfect marriage, as anyone could image as much. Until one day Brant just didn’t come home… Scared, heartbroken, and alone, Holly was beyond upset when Brant walked through the door a week later asking to explain. Turning him away, she decided she could not trust him and made the decision to split.
We are then brought three year later, a few days before Christmas. Brant is still completely broken, wanting desperately to win Holly back. Unable to move on, he begins to secretly make plans with their friends to win her back.
Showing up on her door step, a nervous wreck, the night before Christmas Eve, was the best thing that could have ever happened between them. Through the rest of the book, Brant does everything in his power to show Holly, that his love is still there, stronger than ever. Proposing to her again, and planning their New Years Eve wedding was more than she could have ever dreamed possible.
Down to You was a great story about how sometimes Happy Endings can happen, and how love will prevail all. This was my first Alyson Kline story and I am I am thrilled to have been able to read it. I feel a sequel coming on… maybe?
I love a great second chance romance. Nothing is better than seeing two people who have lost each other find their way home again. Down to You is the story of a young married couple who have lost their way to each other during devastating times. Torn apart, but longing for each other these two navigate their way back together through the Christmas and New Year Holidays. There is nothing more romantic than a love story at Christmas. I loved the setting of this novel and the added touch of a brightness of a new year for this family. The story is filled with hope in that Hallmark- feel good holiday spirit and was a fun, fast read.
I really, really wanted to love this book and to be swept up in it. However, as interesting at it seemed it was missing some of the angst and longing I was so hoping it would have and fell a little flat. Their story lacked that extra little bit to really put me over the edge and sweeping me off my feet. I felt like their love story fell back into play too easily. I wanted more emotion and conviction from these characters.
I love the flashbacks within the story. Seeing how the characters first fell in love and all their hopes, dreams and endless possibilities at their future life was what immediately stood out to me. I feel like if the rest of this story had that emotion and candor to it, it would have went from an okay read to something I would have stayed up all night reading. Kline has created all the makings for an exceptional story, but in my opinion still has a bit to go before this one gets there. With a little fine tuning, some built up angst and longing, and a bit more emotional controversy I think Down to You could be one of those books that has readers perpetually coming back to Kline without ever reading another synopsis.
Maybe it is better the second time around… Holly and Brant Edgemont had a wonderful life together. They loved each other, their three beautiful children and all was good. Until it wasn’t… The holidays are a bittersweet time, aren’t they? Christmas and New Year’s highlights all the good that is going on in life but also the not so good. If you are happy, you are happier. If you are sad, the frivolity makes you sadder. And that is never truer for Holly and Brant as they start celebrating the holidays two years after their split. But, it is the holidays and what better time for new beginnings and second chances! “Operation Christmas Miracle is in effect.” Holly is tired of hurting and realized that things weren’t going to change until she did something about it. Letting her friend Sloane talk her into venturing out for a holiday party is the first step to a new life. Even if her friend’s help is a bit suspect – J Date and Christian Mingle disasters included! Meddling friends notwithstanding it does force both Holly and Brant to face what brought about their divorce and deal with it, once and for all. This is a quickly read story but has all the elements to make it a satisfying one. Once the truth is unraveled and revealed, the two are quickly caught up in the aftermath. I don’t know what I was expecting – more drama, more punch – but they why seemed almost glossed over and forgotten as they quickly moved on from it. Almost too quickly given the fallout it caused. Saying that though, the characters were likable – especially Sloane - who was as fun and quirky as she was the best of friends. A quick, enjoyable read just perfect for a snowy day in December.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Holly and Brandt met while in college and had the perfect marriage until they reached the first hardship. Then they were divorced parents of three young children. The story begins two years later with both Holly and Brandt unhappy because they both still love each other. With the help of their friends and family, they reunite at Christmas. This story has a little bit of everything: love reunited at Christmas, a New Year's Eve wedding and a bar fight thrown in.
I'm all for a HEA story--after all reading is an escape from reality! However I found this one to be a bit too saccharine and one-dimensional. In all fairness, if 1/2 stars were available, I would have rated this a 2.5 star story. It was better than "it was okay" but not quite a "liked it". The premise behind the story line is creative, but the plot and characters are rather flat for a stand-alone book. Everything happens a bit too conveniently--even the conflict. I would have much preferred that story dealt with Brandt's and Holly's original problem more thoroughly instead of interjecting what felt like a contrived betrayal by a former bestie. This book has more of a short story feel to it.
The story is delightful in that it is a feel-good holiday tale of love re-united, and I would re-read the story in a heartbeat if the author reworked it and beefed it up a bit in terms of character and relationship development as well as added some nuanced complexity to the plot.

Holly Edgemont is a mother of three and divorced. It has been a couple of years since her and Brant's divorce and she is still very much in love with her ex-husband. She hasn't even been on any dates. Not one!
Brant Edgemont is a father of three and divorced. He is a hot mess who is still madly in love with his ex-wife and whom I have a crush on now. (Sorry Lee…I still love you too.)
Holly and Brant's story is so freaking cute. I even love how they tell their story. Down to You, their story, defines the word LOVE. Down to You will give you the ugly, the good, and the bad all in one. But at the end of the day sometimes we just need our space. And when the timing is right everything changes and it is a million times better the next time around.
To sum this all up for you...there is a happily ever after, love, romance, tears, joy, and family in this book. To be honest, I really hope that this book gets picked up by lifetime, because if it does they better air it around Christmas time every year. And I will be right there watching it along with many more viewers I am sure of it. Down to You is the perfect lifetime movie candidate. And is the Best Romance Story I have read in a very long time. I love Holly and Brant Edgemont, so much that they are now my new favorite couple. Sorry my other book couples.
Addison Kline you did an outstanding job with this book and Down to You is very special to me...Let's just put it this way, New Year's to me is way more than just ringing in the new year. It is very special to me in more ways than one. :)
Holly Edgemont is not looking forward to the holiday season. Her children will be with her ex-husband and her friend, Sloane is intent on dressing her up and dragging her out to party, trying to get her over her divorce. Truth is Holly is still very much in love with her husband. Brant Edgemont made a huge mistake when he walked away from Holly, the girl he fell in love with the second he saw her in college. Now he has to right his wrong and win Holly’s love back. But is it too late? This story was a quick one, I read it in about 2 hours give or take a few minutes. It was a sweet Christmas story full of love, hope, and second chances. I love Addison Kline and will read anything she writes and this story wasn’t a disappointment. Addison has a way of writing that gets to the heart of people, it’s real and it’s wonderful. I do have to say that there was one small part that I disagreed with and had a hard time with and that was the reason for the separation to begin with. As a wife and mother and a very strong independent woman, I would never let my husband off the hook without at least listening to him and fighting him tooth and nail. Other than that, this was a great quick read. If you are looking for something that uplifts your spirits during the holidays or anytime, this is the book you need to read. It truly reminds us all about friendship, love, and happiness.
I reviewed Down to You on behalf of swankystoriesbookblog
I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
Holly and Brant had once lived the happiest life; Christmas was their favourite family time together. When one mistake tears them apart, Christmas is no longer a happy time. With the festive spirit and great friends can they find each other again?
Down to You is a sweet Christmas romance full of hope and love. This beautiful festive story melts your heart. To see two people torn apart by the struggles and devastation of life and see how much it had broken them was heart breaking.
Holly was an extremely strong and confident woman. She was full of strength and she was the rock of the family.
Brant was a kind, good hearted man who had a heart full of love for his family. He also had pride and when life tore things away from him, he felt disappointment; he felt that everything was his fault.
Miscommunication and hearts full of pain, Brant and Holly struggled to remember the vowels they had taken on the day they promised to be husband and wife.
It was clear how right and perfect they were for each other, how much they missed and loved each other. This story line holds an important message; communication is crucial in all relationships. If we can stop and think for just a moment, putting our stubborn traits aside we can avoid a lot of heartache and enjoy a whole load of love.
If you love sweet contemporary romances with a festive theme you will love Down to You by Addison Kline.
** I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. **
I really enjoyed this story even though it took me a couple of chapters to get interested. I was scared at first that I was going to hate it but I was pleasantly surprised as the story moved along.
We are introduced to the female head character who was recently divorced from her husband after he did something horrible to the family. She was sending her kids away with her ex for the holidays and was sad at the thought of being alone. However, both are still in love with the other. Through the rest of the book, we learn what Brant did that ended the marriage. And will Holly and Brant rekindle their romance or finally be able to move on from each other?
** "There is no such thing as a fairy tale life." **
A very important lesson in life. There is no fairy tale life. And the sooner Holly and Brant realize it, maybe the sooner they can make the decision of where their lives and relationship is going.
** "Romance is not a constant byproduct of love. Real love is standing by one another and supporting each other through the good times and the bad. We all make mistakes, but the important thing is that we learn from them and move onto a more positive path." **
Down to You is a heartwarming story that focuses on understanding and forgiveness.
This was an amazing book to read! The style was very different from most of the books that I read. The romance was very sweet and romantic, without the filth. I really enjoyed reading Down To You and highly recommend it. Down To You is about a couple, Holly and Brant Edgemont. They were happily married for many years till something horrible happens and Brant leaves his family without any explanation. About two years after Brant left and he and Holly got a divorce, Brant wants to work things out with Holly. Holly isn't for sure if she should get back together with Brant or move on with someone else. Brant broke her heart when he left about two years ago, and she doesn't know if she can trust him again, though she is still madly in love with him. Brant has never stopped loving Holly and has always regretted leaving that day. He is willing to do anything to make it work with Holly, but is worried she choose someone else before he can prove himself, and this time he'd be the one with a broken heart. The two main characters are very real and well thought out. There is a bit of drama, of course, which makes the story even better. I really enjoyed reading this, so much so that I read it in a day and a half. The way the author wrote this it is so easy to read, I really like that. It was easy to fall in love and to understand the two main characters.
