Always a fan of romantic fiction, I've always been in love with the alpha-male. So in love, I've never been quite satisfied with the restrictions of series romance. I like to get into a guy's mind and have him do or say exactly what he's feeling at the moment, and sometimes I shock even myself! I consider my stories soft erotica; one man, one woman, heterosexual. But since abiding love is always the happy ending I'm looking for, my couples are always monogamous. My guy would never share his woman with anyone, and she is always enough to satisfy him. Since I believe that love starts with lust, my stories are always highly sexual, explicit in nature, and hopefully totally satisfying to my readers. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

Toxic shit ✔️

Extra possessive H ✔️

Feminism thrown out the window ✔️

So sweet it gave me cavities ✔️

A very (too) young, pliable, innocent and sweet h ✔️

I can’t phantom the number of “You’re mine, say it” I’ve highlighted in this book. ✔️

BUT Why is this woman rating this 5 stars I hear you asking 💁🏻‍♀️

Because after learning that I don’t mind male population paying for sex in The Mistress mistake, my unlimited love for possessive alpha cowboys in Under the Cowboys control, and anything mafia works for me in Marco’s redemption… I have learnt that anything Mrs. Chance writes is worth worshipping, I’ll just follow her until the end of earth and say thank you while she slays my heart.

4 I love Miss Lynda Chance's writing Stars!!!
It's guilty pleasure time!!!

I am so biased when it comes to Lynda Chance! Seriously it's like she got inside my head and wrote a book just for me! And it worked!

Oh Josh! Thank gawd you're legal because I am so perving right now!!! A story using the age old plot of star crossed lovers and forbidden love!

Josh and Hannah were utterly adorable! Hannah is the town princess, she comes from a wealthy and affluent family. Josh is the misunderstood guy from the wrong side of the tracks, his father is a bum and everyone expects him to be the same.

Josh is the ultimate alpha male in the making! The words that came out of his mouth were utterly orgasmic to me! I was in heaven!

"Repeat after me, princess. Josh wants me." Shock and heat filled her system and she gasped. His fingers shifted, slipped into her hair and his voice hissed our. "I'm serious. Repeat it. Josh wants me." "Josh, please--" "Now! he barked and she jumped. 'Josh w-wants me, her voice came out shaky and soft. "Josh wants me so bad his guts are tied in knots of constant pain," he pounded the words through his teeth and waited. His Eyes seared into hers and she attempted to answer. "Josh wants me s-so bad--" she found it impossible to say and her words dwindled off. He reached and his fingers twisted her hair until he was holding her face in both of his strong hands. He continued to punch out his words in third person. "He thinks about me constantly." As he spoke, his gaze ran over her lips, her nose, and the hair that he held in his hands.

Oh young love! I won't say much more, beside that I really enjoyed it!

**Reread September 2017**

I'm not much into characters being this young, but I really love this book. I love how Josh loves Hanna and always has her well being in mind.

Originally Read June 2016

Have you ever had a book that you put off reading because you just weren’t sure you’d like it? Or there was something in it you just knew would bug you? This was that book for me. I put off reading it because I knew the characters were young and I just wasn’t sure I wanted to read about a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old. But let me tell you, I am GLAD I read this book. It was everything I could ever want in a romance. Yes, the two main characters were young. But their love was beautiful and just grew on the pages. I could not put it down.

Hannah officially meets Josh when she was 15 and he was 18. Having met my husband when I was 15, I could totally understand where she was coming from….the awe, the infatuation, the believing a “senior” would never be interested in her. And then the frustration when her parents told her she couldn’t date until she was 16. I lived it so I easily related immediately to Hannah. I liked Hannah. Though she was 15 to begin with, she seemed more mature than most. My heart hurt for her that she felt she had no friends and was shunned because she had money. But Josh filled that void.
“Josh was here. That's all she cared about. There was no way in a hundred million years that she would choose to be anywhere else when she could be with Josh.”

Josh broke my heart. I wanted to wrap him up in my arms and give him all the love he deserved. He constantly believed everyone looked down on him because of his father…thought he would never amount to much and become the abusive alcoholic just like his father. But the opposite was true. He was strong and caring. I loved how the town actually knew that Josh was a great person. If he could just believe it himself…He didn’t think he deserved Hannah and tried to put her out of his mind.
“Hannah was a craving that wouldn't go away, and he knew it wouldn't go away even after he'd had her.”

Josh was willing to wait for Hannah. He always put her first whether it was sex, school, college and just life. He waited for her for years. He always respected her and her family, even their rules going out of his way to make sure they were followed. He made sure she had everything she needed to succeed in life. He was the perfect hero.
“Someday. Someday, you're going to be just mine--you're going to belong to me and not to your parents. And I won't have to feel this knot in my gut anymore. You're never going to have to go home, because your home will be with me. I won't have to be careful that someone is watching us . . . I'll be able to touch you when and how I want. Nobody will be able to tell me what I can and can't do to you, not the law . . . and not your father.”

“You're going to belong to me, heart, body, and soul, and I'll touch you when and how I want, and you'll let me, won't you?”

My only complaint was I felt the last bit was a little rushed. When they finally get together and get to have the life they both want so desperately, it seemed to move very quickly. But other than that, this was a beautiful love story and I am so glad I read it.
“You’re mine. You belong to me, heart, body, and soul.” ~Josh

3 Entertaining Teen Angst Stars

This is an old book and I'm way late to the prom, so I'll keep this review short.

This book was so over the top ridiculous.

Josh was over the top alpha male possessive, Hannah was over the top sweet perfection, and the way the scenarios unfolded were over the top with perfectly timed and simplistic solutions.

It was like country bumpkin teenage Melrose Place on steroids.

And. So. Much. Fun.

Seriously, nothing about this story was realistic, the writing was not all that great (I have read better by this author) and the melodrama was...dramatic to say the least.

But this thing still had my long dead teenage heart all aflutter for some reason, so that's always a good time when I'm in the mood for it.

I must say I enjoyed this one. Yes, it was YA/NA but the characters came across as fairly mature….

I have read some other books by this author and yes, the Heros are usually very Alpha and OTT and Josh was no different.

The only thing I found difficult getting my head around (excuse the sort of pun) was how Josh was able to keep it in his pants for so long…. I mean he was a horny teenager … he definitely had willpower!

A nice quick read and I loved the EPILOGUE. Looking forward to Zach and Katie’s story….

My original rating for this story was 4.5 stars. On reread though I wondered why the 1/2 star was taken away. This story for me deserves 5 stars. I absolutely adore both MCs. The love they have for each other is so pure and true. Josh is what a real man and book boyfriend are all about imo. I never read the second story in this series because Zach was kind of a douche in this one but I can't really blame him with everything he went through. He chose wrong the first time but him choosing Katie is right. She deserves her HEA for sure. So I'm on to read the next.

FREAKING A! I'VE BEEN CRAVING FOR SOME ALPHA POSSESSIVE HERO. FINALLY!!! JOSH... YOU.ONE.SEXY.BEAST!

description

LADIES... HE'S 100% PURE ALPHA MALE! He's very possessive but not a push over or a jerk!

"You belong to me now, understand? You're mine; we're exclusive. Nobody else gets to touch you, and I mean not at all." His nostrils flared and Hannah's heart stopped before taking up a faster cadence. "I own you." His eyes searched hers. "I hope like hell you can handle it.

THIS AUTHOR NEVER FAIL TO AMAZE ME! NEVER FAIL TO GIVE ME SOME POSSESSIVE HEROES. EVERY DAMN BOOK SHE RELEASE IS LIKE HEAVEN FOR ME!

Sorry for caps I just cannot contain my happiness right now. I've been reading some so-so books lately and you all know how that feels right? When you read like 10 books and all of them was just an okay... it didn't grab you or felt any connection at all... you feel kinda... lost.. XD

HOT DANG! I FEEL SO ALIVE RIGHT NOW!

Okay.. I just finished it.. my god.. I didn't want it to end. WOW! This blew me away! I love the build up relationship.. yes, Hannah was young but Josh was soo fucking patient and it was so sweet how he waited for her! T_T

"You're mine. I've waited and waited and waited for you to grow up so that I could have this. Now you belong to me, just me. You understand?"

Reading the words "You're Mine" doesn't get old. :) It always gives me tingles and goosebumps! ^_^

I'm surprised with the NA genre of this book as Lynda Chance doesn't write NA! I've read a lot of New Adult books and most of them (actually a lot) are just so-so and because of that, I was a little hesitant to read this book. I didn't know if Ms. Chance could make this book different from the other NA books out there... but hot damn.. she did. It was actually beyond my expectation! (As a big fan of hers, I'm a little ashamed to admit that I even doubt she could pull this off.. so I deeply apologize.)

"You're mine."
His voice was harsh as he pushed up until he was in a place inside of her where she could feel him stretching her. His eyes wouldn't let go of hers. "Just mine, Hannah. Nobody else will ever have this." He slid in another inch and her breath caught. "You gave it to me and now it's mine. For all eternity."

Anyway, I didn't want this review to be long but after reading the book I just felt so many emotions running through me. The epilogue was perfect I couldn't ask for more! But I'm a little sad that it ended.. ugh. Why does great books have to end?! so unfair! (lol)

Ms. Lynda Chance, Please.. pretty please don't take long to write Zack and Katie's story! I'm dying here...

I'm not really sure what this author was thinking here, nothing about this book worked for me.

The taboo, angsty romance was horrid & like a bad song stuck on repeat.

The whole supposedly 'taboo', off-limits element of the relationship was just lame and not fathomable. To think, she's a sophomore and he's a senior & they might get together.. The Horrors!. Psst! I'd imagine about 75% of the world's high school population would be locked up and tarred and feathered if a soph and senior going out or having sex was something as damn gawd awful & unthinkable as it's made to be in this book.

The characters were annoying & infuriating.

I love, love, love me a beautiful bastard alpha male. However, in this book, the alpha male is a bastard without the beautiful part. He's demanding without being giving. He's possessive without being tender. He's selfish without yield to any of her feelings. A bastard!

He wants to brand her, dib her, posses her even though he refuses her because a she's too young.

He talks to her like she's a toddler about to touch a hot stove. Possessive is fine, but don't f'ing talk down to, lay private claim to, and try to control every facet of someone you don't want to actually claim publicly.

He doesn't want her to go to a simple high school party, read Cosmo, others to so much as curse around her, etc.. Because it might mar her sweet lil innocent mind. Again, this bitch isn't 12! She's weeks from being 16 & he's a whopping 2-years her elder.

Her? Oh, hell she's even worse because she not only tolerates it, but enjoys it. She obeys like a female dog in heat that's dressed up like a door mat for Halloween.

The dialogue is a mixture of teens trying to pull off f'ing motorcycle club badass attitudes and so damn juvenile that I wondered if I was reading Ann of Green Gables. Literally .... 'Hey? Golly Gee' one minute & 'I'm going to f'ing rip your GD balls off and shove em down your Mf mouth you SOB.'

Speaking of dialogue, she's so rememberable that he has to stop and wonder wtf she is and she's his neighbor lol. Then, after exactly three convos, which 80% of consisted of him telling her she's too young and her arguing she was about to be 16 & 10% with his tongue stuffed in her mouth (yes, I'm exhausted), he deems that he will wait for her to be 17 and she's damn sure going to "keep her innocence" for him.

Finally, he decides he has to publicly claim her else other dudes not so honorable might beat him to it. My that was a romantic convo.. humphfa!

Again, love alpha, but I nearly cringed when he told this 16-year-old, that mind you he's been so adamant about her sweet innocence, that he "owns her." He talks about her like she's an f'ing cow he owns and will eventually breed. Nah, I ain't feeling the love!

Once they're finally a couple, the author didn't have anywhere to go because there's not really any other significant plot points.

So, she drags out the virginal innocence and makes the dude an even bigger douchebag by giving him a mini meltdown because the girl has an inheritance in her future.

The waiting could've been sweet, albeit not realistic, if done out of love or because they weren't ready, but, no, the author was stuck on the age game & attached intimacy to numbers vs feelings. That's hardly romantic or endearing.

The mini meltdown over money solidified him as a grade A jackass. Who claims to love someone but begrudges them having a nice car, financial security, family land, etc?

LaTda... Happy ending.

This author definitely ruined me for every other hero around.
This one is one of the best heroes you can dream of.
He’s just too good to be true.
The plot is somehow Romeo and Juliet kind of trope. Their families are well, not exactly on the best terms since his father is the town villain and is actually having an affair with her stepbrother’s wife, and this is maybe his lesser evil deeds. He has beaten and abused the hero when he was a child and he is now living with his uncle and aunt, and still has the scars to prove it.
The most heartbreaking and moving thing is that even if he’s been abused and all he’s not become a jerk or a cruel sob, just the opposite. He’s a protector and actually the first time he seriously meet the heroine is when he tries to protect her from some bullies and that’s where they fall in love. They are very young, she’s still a minor and he’s two years older even if he’s very mature and self confident. He doesn’t want to date her without her parents approval and he wants to wait until she’s at least a bit older. And he will wait for her, definitely. Not messing around with any other - willing- girl. He waits for her. That’s really moving. Or maybe it’s my hormones. Whatever.
There’s a very angsty part when his father runs away with his pregnant mistress and they both die causing quite a mess and another fracture in their delicate balance since her stepbrother is now against every member of his family, starting with him of course.
But in the end all will be well.
I loved this hero, a protector and a honest strong young man. He doesn’t let his past taint his present and is really a dream man. The way he treats the heroine is what every woman would like to be treated. Possessive but not in a psycho way, passionate but respectful and caring and loving towards his young love. This couple is really the best. The heroine is nothing exceptional. She’s the town princess, pretty and shelter, sweet and inexperienced. What makes her the perfect match for him? She’s faithful and loyal to him since she first sees him, she stays beside him even when everyone and everything is against them and she never ever gives up. So, yes, he’s more charming and interesting but she’s good for him. Not everyone at her age and with her sheltered background would have stayed by him after all and she loves him as much as he loves her. Beautiful pair.
Safety. For me it’s safe. He’s a bit older so he had sex with other girls his age when she was still a child but as soon as he sees her all grown up and is attracted to her he is completely celibate both in mind and body.
I wouldn’t want differently. It would be cringy.

I really enjoyed this story. I would say it was not one of Lynda Chance's hotter books in terms of "sexy times" but it was a good story. Josh was 18 and Hannah was just shy of 16 when they first met. Josh fought it because he knew he was too old for her. He also knew that she came from a wealthy family that had animosity towards his abusive alcoholic father for things he had done. He felt he was living under a dark shadow that he wouldn't be able to shake. Josh proves to be a great young man and people take notice. He was so sweet and patient with Hannah. You could tell from his actions that it was indeed love for him and he pushed both of them to be better. This story had a possessive alpha, who was protective, honorable and patiently waited until Hannah of age before they had sex. He was faithful and never gave another girl the time of day even at first when he was fighting his attraction for Hannah. The definitely get their HEA and the story of Josh's cousin and Hannah's brother was set up in this story. I'm intrigued!

Wow, what a pleasant little surprise this one was. And in saying that in no way am I saying that I haven't enjoyed Lynda Chance's other books. This author has a way around writing an alpha male and when I say that I mean ALPHA!
This book has a way more New Adult feel to it. The characters are young....and it is a real high school sweethearts story with Josh being 18 and Hannah,15 at the beginning of this story.
But if you loved the young Finn Haliday from Kristen Ashley's Games of the Heart and watching that little alpha in the making....then you are going to absolutely love Josh Turner.
Josh knows what he wants, he has been a player, girls like him and he likes getting what the girls will give him. He is also the boy from the wrong family, fallen in love with the town princess.
Read this book and watch this relationship develop, read as the alpha protectiveness falls into place and Josh realises what its like to have a piece of sweet and what he will do to keep it.

Time does pass in this book, and the steaminess that I have come to expect in an book from this author does not happen until the couple are older. But the words spoken......gah, I love Josh Turner.
Give this book a chance, it really was great read, and stand out New Adult story.

Contain Spoilers!!!!!

4.5 stars! Wow I have to say I absolutely love Josh and Hannah! This was a sweet, hot patient read! I loved almost everything about Josh ! Only two things bothered me a little. One the fact that he was only 18 and he seemed to have slept with alot of girls(in another town) which thankfully was good. Second I couldn't help but think when him and Hannah first slept together it's in his truck .wasn't that the truck he said he used to pick up girls in and have sex? lol that is nasty. but even that I looked past it. other than that I really enjoyed this and will reread it again at some point! His patiences, his faithfulness, his loyalness, his possessive ways, his love , his kindness is a special kind of beautiful!!! I'm so happy they have a wonderful HEA! love the epilogue(but of course I always want more:) Glad Ava and Ethan are together and happy!

Safety: just what I mention above. it's it's mentioned he slept around before h. No other woman drama . one incident with h when Josh's friend kissed her on lips(more of a peck) she pushes him away. really not a big deal. other than that no other man drama! h is a virgin. loved this couple !

Reading this made me feel happy and now this will be one of my favorites!:)

4 to 4.5 stars. This is one of those times that I wish Goodreads had half stars, because when I rate something 4 to 4.5 stars I think that you should show 4 stars and not round up to 5, like I do when I give it 4.5 to 5 stars. I hate only giving it 4 stars though, because it seems like it's not enough.

Well this is not your typical Lynda Chance that is for sure. Normally I would consider her books erotica, but not this one. If you go into it looking for it to be erotica, you might be disappointed, but as a young adult book, I thought it was fantastic.

The story is about 18 year old Josh Turner, son of the town drunk. He endured 13 years of abuse, and I mean, putting out cigarettes on his face abuse, before he is able to be rescued by is Aunt and Uncle. He is tall, hot and completely closed off. He doesn't get involved with girls from his school. If he wants to hook up with someone, he drives 30 miles away to another town to pick someone up. He thinks the town looks at him as either, someone who will follow in his fathers footsteps, and become a loser, or someone who needs to be pitied, which he hates just as much.

Then there is Hannah. Hannah is a McIntyre, which means she comes from money....lots of money. When the book starts she is almost 16, starting her sophomore year of high school. She has gotten rid of her braces, and has grown up to be a beautiful girl that people are noticing. She, however, has no clue how pretty she has become. Josh's family lives on land that butts up to her families land, so she has known him, or at least known about him, all of her life. She has had a huge crush on him for as long as she can remember, but knows that he is completely out of her league. The last time Josh had seen her was years ago. In his mind she was much younger than he was, so seeing her all grown up was surprising. She comes from a very loving family. Hannah was six months old when her dad married her mom, so even though she is not blood to her dad, or her brother, they have always loved and treated her as though she was. Needless to say, she and Josh come from two completely different worlds.

They meet again at a football game, where Hannah is the target of a group of "mean girl's" jealousy. Her best friend temporarily dumps her for the group, and Josh swoops in to help her save face. The head "mean girl" has a crush on Josh, and he knows it. When he kisses Hannah in front of her, he realizes that she has never been kissed before, that he is her first kiss. This brings out his possessive, controlling, alpha male hotness. From that time on, Hannah becomes "his", but because of her age, and his background, he knows he can't date her now, but is willing to wait until she is old enough. He has never cared about any other girl before, so this possessive feeling he has for her is unusual, and shocking to him. When there was the remote possibility of another guy showing interest, or asking her out, he kind of went all "Incredible Hulk" about it. One minute he is a normal 18 year old kid, and the next minute he is a furious, snarling, green-eyed monster, making sure that everyone knows that Hannah is his, and he will hurt anyone who tries to take her from him. The only thing more he could have done to stake his claim, would have been to pee on her leg. It was adorable, and what I like most about alpha males.

Normally I don't like Young adult books that have really young characters like Hannah. Maybe because I have 13 and 15 year old kids, and I don't want to think about the possibility of them having sex any time soon, but I thought, in this case, it was handled well. Josh is so respectful of her, that when it does happen you feel like it is the right time. There isn't a whole lot of angst in their relationship that isn't resolved quickly. There is just the natural progression of a relationship between two young people who know early in life, that they have met the love of their life.

There is a ton of sexual tension. The relationship between Hannah and Josh is very steamy. You can definitely feel the love and commitment between them, and it is hot, but I would not consider this erotica. I say this, because that is what we normally get when we read a Lynda Chance book. Instead, I would classify this as a 18+ YA book, or a contemporary romance. Whatever you want to call it, I loved it, which is why Lynda Chance is an auto buy for me.

3.5 Teeny Drama ⭐’s

This is a tough one to rate. I didn’t love it, but that was mostly because my mindset wasn’t in the right “lane”. I didn’t realize that it was YA, but that’s on me, I didn’t read any reviews. If you’re in the mood for young person drama, I recommend it, because it’s a solid read oozing with young love angst. (why I’m rounding up)

Like I said, I didn’t realize this was YA. I had it in my head it was going to be a second-chance romance for teenage sweets, so I kept waiting for the big breakup… which never happened 😊 so rather than getting invested into the story… I was focused on when the floor would drop out. When really, this is a fairly sweet tale of Josh and Hannah’s epic love journey.

Hannah is the town darling, well sort of. She’s super pretty, rich, and sweet, but all the girls hate her because they’re so jelly. Josh is the not really bad town bad boy. He’s the son of the town drunk/villain, but really a nice dude, and a mini-Kristen Ashley alphamale in the making. He meets Hannah at a football game while trying to save her from mean girls, and the two have an instant connection. The problem is that he’s an 18-yr-old senior, and Hannah is a 15 (almost 16) yr-old sophomore, and he’s not looking to go to jail.

Bottom Line- Almost soapy read with loads of OTT teen feels. (drama, angst, joy,) Hannah is sweet, and Josh is super dedicated to her. There’re several secondary characters that have their own stuff going on that I wasn’t really interested in, but they will be the upcoming mc’s. The book spans from HS through college with an epilogue several years in the future.

TOO JUVENILE FOR ME

This book is one in the series by this author.
If you wish to read this series then you can do so as the others are available for purchase on Amazon.
For me, this book was just a little too long.
I know the author was trying to tie up the story line altogether in a cohesive manner but it just seemed to dragged on.
Their sexual encounters were almost non-existing. However, the passion was real and that made a big difference for me.
I can't say this is "the best" as it was almost too perfect.
This is why I couldn't really love it.
Love is good and great but when passion is real it messy and complicated! This was not at all that.
I liked both the hero and the heroine and they both had their issues but it just seemed that whatever Josh decided was it.
He said she would go to school for four years and she went.
He said, when the heroines turned 18, it was time for them to have sex and she just said "sure that's super lets do it!?" (Not really but words to that effect)
Seriously, I made her way more interesting and funny in my head that she actually was! She was lame and boring.
As a result this story felt all very PG.

I am an adult so this is a teen read for sure!!!
It's got drama for nothing and secondary characters were way more interesting than the hero or heroine.

I love the whole idea of the story . I love Josh and his strong intention and love to Hannah. A bit disappointment is the last 20% seemed flat.

Don't get me wrong, Josh is still on my short list of book boy friend..he's alpha, faithful, he can hold his lust for 2 years not to touch Hannah. And during that 2 years, he's jerking off!!!

A typical alpha male, and typical teenagers...he's so obsessed with Hannah, loved her like no other girls around him. While at school, almost every girl wanted him.

But he only wanted Hannah from the first time he laid his eyes on her at a football game, while some girls avoiding Hannah. He came to her, kissed her, make all of them jealous. And from that very moment, he had his claimed on her!

He hold to make love to her. But! OMG! The makeout session was sof***ing HOT!.

I loved how they can manage the relationship, from the teenager's age, until they became adult, and still Josh amazed me for his fidelity and his contentment about his love to Hannah.
Sometimes seemed like obsessed to her, but that what saw from my very on daughter with her boyfriend. They're really "INTO" each other and so in love. It's possible.

I like this type of reading, less stress and heart warming.

PS. One little disappointment from me is when the series meant to continue with Ethan and Ava, Zachary and Katie, the Epilogue that include them, didn't really necessary! That makes it full of spoiler!

A couple of things. I bought this book because it was a full-length Lynda Chance book, and I like many of her books, but always thought they were a bit short, so Yay! I was pretty stoked.

And then, after about 40-45% of the way through, I started realizing that something just wasn't right. The main characters were STILL in their teens, and in high school. WTH? I read the author's note which said that it starts when they were young, but they grow up and the book is not suitable for under 17/18. Okaaaay. What's up?

And THEN, a friend points out that it actually is a New Adult book. Say WHAT? WHAT!!!!! Sure enough, there it is, in the description - NA. Well crap. It really peeves me when an established author decides to change subgenres and doesn't use a new pen name. Grrrr.

So - time to change my reading cap from super hot and sexy MAN, to super hot and sexy BOY - believe me, this is hard to do at this point, because my own son is a lot older than Josh, and now I'm kinda squicked out.

But the requisite brain bleach aside from my digression, let me say that it was not too bad. It didn't have the seemingly 'requisite' OTT angst like many NA books, but then on the other hand, it didn't have much crisis as pertaining to the Hero and heroine, either.

Josh still has the LC possessive Alpha-ness that we expect, and Hannah is the same 'meek and sweet' heroine that frequents an LC novel.

I have to say that the book would have been much better if the storyline of the villain had hit a bit closer to home to create more tension, but like most of the tension filled moments in this book, it ended with a - well, NOT a bang - whimper.

Yes, it wasn't 'bad,' but neither was it great. 2.5 stars, rounded to 3.

I love this author her books are just so awesome! I know a lot of people find her male leads not pc but I love them they are just so alpha and not afraid to take what they want!! This book was def my fave so far I love the ya theme and Josh was such a hottie with his obsession with Hannah. I am so glad that this story was longer because the only complaint I had with LC's books were that they were too short so I felt the stories were a bit rushed. Thank you Lynda for this great book can't wait for Katie's book next!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5 stars

A fabulous coming of age story. I felt that this was very unique in the high school romance. At the start of the book, Hannah is a sophomore and Josh is a senior and they must deal with this throughout the story.

Hannah is so sweet and just a great character. Her mother met her very wealthy step father when she was six months old. She is the McIntyre princess and way out of Josh’s league.

Josh is pretty much obsessively in love with Hannah. He is worried about not being enough for her as he comes from a poor family.

Overall, such a wonderful book!

description

Jenny: Well G, when I first started this book I thought I was in book heaven. It had all the makings of a sweet “first love” story of two teenagers, soul mates, one from the wrong side of the tracks who were both to learn, grow and love deeply. In fact, I remember texting you saying: ”I’m only 8% into this story but think I may just have book love”. I did like a lot about this book. The premise of Josh and Hannah’s story was sweet, it was lovely, and I really did enjoy the first part , I devoured the epilogue, but somewhere in between something just didn’t gel with me. I’m thinking you’re on the same wavelength as me here Gitte?

Gitte: Yes, I loved how this story started. It was fresh, sweet and the theme really was lovely. So much pain, tragedy and emotional trauma with a sweet innocence thrown in. I absolutely loved the first half of this story. A beautiful love story with innocence and heart-ache.

“Josh was stunned when his kiss of compassion derailed and against his will, became a kiss of hunger and need.”

Josh was so protective and such a gentleman, wiser than his years – respectful of Hannah. Making Hannah and himself wait until she comes of age.

“Look, have you ever wanted something so damn bad that you thought you’d go insane if you couldn’t have it?”

Then it went off in a really odd direction and our characters changed rather than developed with age and it turned into something else, something that to me was quite frankly unappealing and made me feel quite queasy. However, the epilogue saved it again somewhat and I loved every word of it. You really appreciated the journey and the strength of Josh’s and Hannah’s love and perseverance.

“You try to remember that it’s not where a person comes from that makes him who he is. A man chooses how he makes his own life…”

Jenny: That was one of the things I loved G. Their journey and their love for one another. Now, I love my alpha heroes. There’s just something about that whole jealous, possessive and protective streak they have going on that appeals to me and oh yes, Josh was an alpha alright but he was also waaaay too – over the top and I had problems his behaviour.

My main one being that whilst Josh is 18, Hannah is only 15. Fifteen!! She is a young, innocent and impressionable girl who, due to her lack of life experience, always appeared to roll over for Josh. She forgave him without exception and took everything he said as gospel. Josh felt so much older than Hannah and I’m guessing I found that uncomfortable also.

“You’re going to belong to me, heart, body, and soul, and I’ll touch you when and how I want, and you’ll let me.”

I found it really difficult to cope with an 18 year old man dictating (and that is what it was) to a fifteen year old girl what she can wear, who she can and can’t converse with and even what to read.

“You’re only fifteen years old. You shouldn’t be reading Cosmo. I don’t like it.”

Josh had lived a tough life and he’d fought through adversity and for that I commended him. He was making something of himself, moving out of his father’s shadows and the love he has for Hannah knows no bounds, he loves her with all his heart, and I never doubted that for one minute. I really did feel that I deep down I knew Josh’s heart was in the right place….but…….well, I’ll let you jump in here Gitte.

Gitte: Okay, so this was my whole issue and why I got confused and have a problem rating this book. Josh, yes, is an alpha male and seems older than his 18 years. He comes from a shitty background, it was disgustingly horrific. This poor bloke grew up in violence until he was saved by his Aunt and Uncle. Now, he could have gone one of two ways. He did good. I loved him for it. He was a bad arse but his heart was pure gold and his ideals and viewpoints were respectful and admirable! The way he was with Hannah to begin with was sweet and so amazing. It had the fabulous message of ‘never judge a book by its cover’ (how apt and pun totally intended). Then suddenly he completely did a 360 and turned, quite frankly, creepy for a while. There was nothing hot or exciting about his verbal, in my opinion, abusive behaviour. It was crude and over the top when aimed at a girl who started off as 15 who didn’t know any different and was in complete love.

“You belong to me, and no matter what kind of fight we had…while you’re gone you best remember that you belong to me…Is that clear enough for you? We’re together and if you don’t remember that then there will be hell to pay.”

I was turned right off and just didn’t get it. This is being classed as NA. Well, I don’t understand the classification of this story it was very YA with NA moments thrown in haphazardly and over the top alpha male tendencies that belied the ages. It threw me for a loop. I just did not get it.

I felt like Josh’s character got lost and he was let down by phrases that are a ‘dime a dozen’ but in the Erotica genre and in my opinion had no place in this story which was dark yet sweet, horrific yet inspiring; romantic and passionate.

“Say it…No one will ever touch you say it.”

“You’re mine. I’ve waited and waited and waited for you to grow up so that I could have this. Now you belong to me, just me. You understand?”

I’m not sure whether I am making any sense, I just feel so frustrated because I was LOVING this story!

Jenny: Yes, you make perfect sense. I too was completely in love with this story until Josh’s behaviour seemed to change and yes, the NA rating had me confused also.

For me the alpha male character in Josh and Hannah was taken to extreme, which is fine, but when a 15 year old girl is on the receiving end, well, it does become something else entirely.

Whereas I loved Josh for the unwavering love he showered on Hannah and the respect he showed her in regards to not pressuring her for sex, he was certainly the stoic one where that was concerned, I couldn’t help but feel that his attitude was too forceful, not physically, but mentally and emotionally, the way he spoke and projected himself to Hannah just didn’t sit right with me.

“Hannah, I’m warning you, and you better listen up and listen good. You’re mine…..”

There were also plots in the story that were built up yet never seemed to eventuate into anything, which left me feeling a bit flat.

The epilogue was wonderful and in that, you saw how deep their love for each other went, how their relationship had developed and I was happy with that, but at the end of the day it wasn’t enough to have me falling head over heels in love with Josh and Hannah’s story as much as I would have hoped to.

Since this author showed promise and I LOVE jealous, possessive heroes I thought I'd give her another try. The story seemed engaging at first, but due to more TELL than SHOW and too many inner repetitive thoughts I found the book tedious. I stopped counting how many times hero said in his head "She's rich, I'm poor, our families are enemies, bla, bla...

I didn't like some of the portrayal of the heroine. The attitude of "I'll give up everything to be with you. I don't have to go to college. I just want to marry you. Only your love fulfils me."

And just once, just once, I would like a heroine not to brush off the hero's apology. Graciously accept it or don't. But don't say it doesn't matter that he hurt you!!!

I was forced to skim several times and especially towards the end.
Yes the book is longer than her previous books, but it has no substance, no real plot, which is my constant complaint regarding this author. It's a shame because LC does have a huge potential to become a great romance author.

I have to say that this is one of my favorite books by Lynda Chance. It was a very sweet, hot romance. I just loved Josh!! I can't wait to read the next one in the series. This is not the first book I've read from her and it will not be the last. It has everything I look for in a romance - standalone, HEA and no cheating!!!! :)

4.5 Intense, Passionate, Angsty Stars!
A YA/NA Book that Reads Like An Adult. Anyone and Everyone Will Love This one!

The Review:
It started with a kiss and a need to protect.

Fifteen year old Hannah McIntyre’s family has money which has caused a fair amount of problems with her social life, creating enemies out of would-be friends who are envious of her fortune. She’s picked on by the other girls and completely ignored by the boys. She only has one real friend in the entire school and has never had a boyfriend. But she’s admired the infamous Josh Turner, who also happens to be her neighbor, from afar for years but knows she, with her plain looks and naive history is not even a blip on his radar. With his roguish good looks, his suggestive reputation and the fact every girl in school wants him, he’s completely out of her league.

That is until he walks right up to her, calling her “babe” and kisses her stupid in front of all the girls who are picking on her. Possibly hallucinating, it takes her a moment to realize its all real and Josh freaking Turner has just had his lips on her lips.

Eighteen year old Josh Turner didn't mean for the kiss to be real. He saw someone getting picked on because of him and wanted to turn the tides of her humiliation. He doesn’t recognize her at first having never really paid her any attention, knowing the McIntyre princess was off limits. But once he got a small taste of her, despite it being completely outside the realm of possibility and despite her youth and innocence, he knew one taste would NEVER be enough.

But he was a Turner. She was a McIntyre. Their worlds were never supposed to come together.

This is what Josh thinks when he sees the beautiful Hannah standing all alone. He recognizes the differences between them immediately, as if they were written in gold. And he tries to keep his distance knowing its for the best, that she’s better off without him, without his father's reputation and the terrible situation his father has put her family in. He’s tried to distance himself from his past but knows its always there and he will never be good enough. But the more he gets to know her, the stronger the choking, stomach knotting fear of never tasting her again becomes... or worse, the fear that someone else will swoop in, take her and he’ll lose her forever. Against his better judgement, against knowing she could do a thousand times better, he has to have her.

She has to be his!

That one kiss sends both Josh and Hannah into a spinning tale of forbidden love, beautiful innocence, honorable pride and redemption.

Characters...
Josh Turner is an alpha male in the making? Hell no! The alpha male is HERE! He is a powerful force of nature that completely dominates and commands. His young character is written better than some adult alphas characters I’ve read and I'm telling you right now, he’s hot, he’s yummy and you can’t help but swoon at his feet. He commands, you stand to attention. He walks into a room, you instantly take notice. Its amazing how well this character is written. Anyone who loves a powerful male, will leave this book wishing for more Josh Turner’s in the fictional world... and in the real world!

Hannah was a beautiful girl and her innocence was sweet. She was never full of herself nor was she overbearing. I loved everything about her. She was committed to making things work and she never judged Josh or anyone for that matter, even when they were less than friendly with her. She was a terrific heroine and I really enjoyed watching her grow and mature into a beautiful young woman.

I also really enjoyed all the side stories and sub characters that were going on during Josh and Hannah’s romance. Every character had something going on leaving no dull moments, no breaks in the story, always moving the plot forward and keeping me glued to my chair and entertained.

Thoughts...
How young is too young to be in love? Is there a certain age when love becomes real? Can you truly fall in love when you're a young teen? Can you really meet your soulmate, know yourself so well and be able to map out your future at such a young age?

Josh and Hannah would argue that you most definitely can. After reading this story, if I didn’t already believe some people could, I would now.

The whole book was one intense build up. Every innocent smile, every heated look, every passionate touch, every possessive kiss, every heartfelt conversation, every exciting action, every awe-inspiring reaction. They were all written with such depth, such desire, such longing that you get completely lost in every chapter.

Wish List...
There was only one things that could have made this a better read and that was the big climax with the anti hero. The whole first part of the book was building up to this big showdown, but when it actually happened, it felt rushed and skipped over. It felt more like a recount of events instead of a play by play as it was happening with the characters and i just wanted “more” from the pool room scene. I wanted more emotion and more internal thoughts from both POV’s.

The Wrap Up:
Josh and Hannah ends with a wonderful epilogue and a charming HEA. Beautifully crafted, poignantly written with intense and wonderful characters, this book is an absolute must read for young and adult. A young adult that reads like an adult book that will keep everyone who reads it enthralled. I can’t wait for book two in the Redwood Falls series which will be Katie and Zach’s story!

Four Stars

“You belong to me now, understand? You’re mine; we’re exclusive. Nobody else gets to touch you, and I mean not at all.” His nostrils flared and Hannah’s heart stopped before taking up a faster cadence. “I own you.” His eyes searched hers. “I hope like hell you can handle it.”

Saw this book last night while surfing GR last night and when I saw the words Alpha-Male in the making, I was sold. God, I’m so easy. This was pretty simple read, nothing too complex or anything, though it was a bit repetitive at times.

For those looking for an adult, steamy novel, this isn’t really what you want. I guess it’s more of a New Adult – with just a little bit of steam, lots of making out which led to a whole lot of sexual frustration. But that’s okay. The main reason why I picked it up was because of Josh – the Alpha-Male in the making.

Josh was stunned when his kiss of compassion derailed against his will, because a kiss of hunger and need.

Hannah McIntyre and Josh Turner have been neighbors for most of their life, but their lives are nothing alike. Hannah comes from a wealthy, loving family. Josh spent most of his childhood with his abusive, low-life drunk of father. At the age of thirteen, his aunt and uncle took him away from that life, but he constantly worried that the reputation of his father would follow him.

Hannah was only fifteen when her and Josh’s life would change forever. When he witnessed beautiful young Hannah being shunned by the mean girls at this high school, he felt the need to intervene. He kissed her in front of everyone. He soon found out that he was her first kiss. After that revelation, he instant felt the need to protect her; to possess her. He has never felt this way about anyone before, not in his eighteen years of his life. Women have always come easy. She turned his world upside down, but there was a catch: She was a McIntyre and she was only fifteen.

He wanted her with an ache in his gut that he knew couldn’t be appeased by someone else. There was no sense in even trying. It had to be Hannah. Only Hannah. And with turmoil settling in his stomach, he knew that he couldn’t have her. At least not yet.

As much as Josh wanted Hannah, he knew he had to set some limits. He was eighteen, she fifteen. She was a girl with a good reputation, good family background, and he was the son of drunk. What could he possibly give her? But no matter what, he couldn’t stay away from her. Their connection strong, their hold on each other was beyond anything either could comprehend. They were infatuated with one another. Could two people with so many roadblocks (family, money, age) have a chance at a relationship?

All he could think about was the fact that no one would ever have Hannah but him. He would have all her kisses, he would be the guy who took her out and held her clamped to his side; he would be the one who eventually took her virginity

It’s no secret that the biggest reason why I enjoyed this story so much was because of Josh and his extreme Alpha-ness; he was possessive, strong, and oh so protective of Hannah. I will never tire of Alpha Heroes. NEVER. I’m sure guys who are like this in real life aren’t as charming, but that’s why I love immersing myself in these types of books where I know, well at least the majority of the time, that they have a soft spot for the women they love. **sigh** Yea, I can’t get enough of them.

The story did get a little repetitive at times, especially in regards to why Josh was so adamant on waiting. It felt like every chapter it had to be repeated that he was waiting for her to become of age. Not only that, but he was fixated at how Hannah had come from a family of wealth. Oh the pride of men. Very repetitive.

I will definitely be checking out the next book in the series about Hannah’s brother, Zach and Josh’s cousin, Katie. I had an inkling that these two had some chemistry brewing. I’m so looking forward to reading that.
