Raised by her grandfather to stand on her own, Victoria Saville has always considered love to be a frivolous endeavor.
So when a suitable match with Collin Marsh, Earl of Dalton presents itself, she willingly agrees.
But when she meets Collin’s best friend, Benjamin Duncan, her world is thrown into chaos. The new Viscount is everything her intended is not. Benjamin’s wit and charm draw Victoria to him, and his touch lights a fire in her she never anticipated.
However, the dashing Viscount’s past is filled with dark secrets that threaten to tear the new lovers apart.
Will she be brave enough to follow her heart? Or will fear force her into a life without love?
Normandie Alleman’s latest installment in the Sins of the Brothers trilogy is filled with scandalous secrets, flirtatious banter, and passionate romance .
A former psychologist, Normandie has always been fascinated by human behavior. She loves writing quirky characters that are all too human. “I’m interested in the kind of relationships people have in real life. So I write about my characters’ messy, unpredictable, and inexplicable journeys to love.”
If there were another 5 hours in the day, Normandie would spend more time needle-pointing and playing with photography. Instead, she’s a Pinterest addict and sports junkie who’s crazy for Twitter and the color pink. She lives with a passel of children, her hunky husband, and a pet pig who loves Red Bull.
Thanks to BookSprout for a copy of this novel and this is my freely given opinion.
This is book 2 of the Sins of the Brothers series and in general I liked this one more than book 1, as the story seems to be more consistent, though there are still some issues I have with consistency in details.
In this one, we have the story of the older brother, one of the twins, of the Duncan family, back in London, taking back the family title and estates, and mending their reputation in Society after the revenge and redemption in book 1. In the prior book, younger brother Alex found and revealed evidence of the truth of accusation of treason against their father, and revealed who the true villain was. In this one, Benjamin, Alex's older brother, and one of the twins, assumes the title of Viscount Schiffley and take his place as head of the Duncan family and in Society. He and his family return to England, and he renews some of his old relationships, including to an old schoolfriend, Dalton.
As he socializes, he meets Dalton's intended betrothed, Victoria Saville, the granddaughter of a Marquis, with a bit of a tainted reputation. He is immediately smitten by her, but is conflicted as she is promised to his friend... but it is a friendship that Benjamin finds he has outgrown, and he cannot help but feel that Victoria deserves better - namely himself.
Benjamin and Dalton end up having a tense and dangerous falling out when Benjamin and Victoria are caught together, but in the end Benjamin wins the hand of the fair lady. However, it comes to be revealed that Benjamin himself is hiding secrets and Victoria cannot tolerate the fact that Benjamin has been lying to her; how can she trust him if he has been lying to her from the beginning? Benjamin, so close to having the woman he loves and a dream of happiness in his future, finds that he may risk it all.
Similar to book 1, this one features a relationship based on lies and hidden identities, and when the truth is revealed, the relationship is at risk.
In general I liked this story better, but there were still some issues I had from book 1 that were not resolved in this one. For one, Alex and Phoebe are married with a child - but it was never resolved if their marriage was legitimate or not, since they married under his false identity - Dante. Victoria and Benjamin marry as well, but also under the cloud of false identity... so the same issue applies for me - but now it seems the family is all colluding in the fraud.
But in general, a story that flowed better for me than in book 1.

While this is a part of a series, you don't have to read the prior one to fully understand and enjoy this fabulous tale.
This is written in a dual POV format. That is a favorite of mine. Getting that glimpse into both of the main characters thoughts, really help me to better understand and connect with them. It makes for a more enjoyable read for me. As for the plot, it was well written. It flowed nicely with really no over dramatics. It was a very pleasant read.
Victoria is pledged to marry another. It is not a love match. Victoria is fine with that as she saw the destructive emotion when her father left her and her mother. Victoria is an artist. Her betrothed has promised that she could continue with her paintings after marriage (at least that is what she was told.)
Benjamin and his family have returned to England after more than a decade away in Italy. Scandal had hit the family and forced them to flee. Since the family name has been restored, it is up to Benjamin to carry on the duties of his title. The first one is to find a wife!
They meet at a ball. Both are attracted to each other BUT Victoria will not fall prey to love. Also her betrothed is a good friend of Benjamin's!!! Can Benjamin get Victoria to see that love conquers all? There are several hurdles that he will have to go through to get her love. But can the one secret that Benjamin holds dear be the one that Victoria can't forgive him for keeping?
This is a sexy read BUT the details in the scene really glossed over much.
Well written, full of drama, love, secrets, suspense, emotions, steam with lots of twists and turns. Has a great group of characters both bad and good, each fitting the story where and as needed. This book draws you in and holds you till the very end. Very hard to put down, makes you feel that you are a part of the story. Victoria is a young woman that is to marry an Earl which she does not love but her Grandfather feels is a good match. At this time , women were not given a lot of choices to make bur did as they were told, which society held them too. It's at a ball that she first sees Benjamin and feels that the draw to him. Benjamin has returned with lots of secrets about him. Victoria and Benjamin both have lots of issues to work out. Would strongly recommend this book and the other from this series.

A story with a down-to-earth main character who does not want love in her marriage but respect. She thinks she has found that in her fiancé. Her fiancé is not someone she would have chosen, but after a near scandal she makes do. Until she meets his friend. The disarming Bemjamin. After 15 years, he and his family return to England and are looking for a wife. He doesn't want to draw attention to himself, but when he meets his friend's fiancée he is sure he will never find another woman who has captured his heart as much as she has. Will he be able to convince her that his love for her is worth it? But what if she discovers his secret? Will she forgive him and want to move on with him?
An emotional story in which you don't see coming what the secret is... until it may be too late....

Victoria Saville never thought too much about love. Women were given very little choice in the matter. When it was time for her to marry, she would go along with whomever her grandfather matched her with. Being matched with Collin Marsh, Earl of Dalton, was therefore acceptable to her, although she has no feelings toward him. But when she meets his best friend at a ball, Victoria finds out just what a difference love makes when she discovers Benjamin Duncan, a Viscount, is everything she could want in a husband. Benjamin may have secrets to hide. But he would make Victoria very happy if he could. Will they find a way to be together despite the consequences? Or will she accept her lot in life and marry a man she doesn’t love?
From the start, I was drawn to the two main characters, Victoria and Benjamin. They are both torn between high society's expectations of them and their pursuit of love and happiness. What a dilemma! I have a thing for artistic characters; they always have a little rebellious streak, and Victoria is no different. The author immerses us in the perceptions and emotions of the two main characters, making them even more adorable. Nothing dramatic in this novel, although there is a little mystery, and I enjoy this part. I like that time works things out for these two protagonists. A very enjoyable read!.

Viscount Schiffley and his family have returned to England from Italy after his father had been proven innocent of the crimes he had been accused of. The only woman who he is interested in is about to be betrothed to a friend of his. Lady Victoria's reputation is damaged because she had used a man as an art model so her grandfather had arranged for her to marry Lord Dalton but he had no understanding of her artistic abilities. Both Ben and Victoria have secrets, so can they end up together?.

I thought the first book of this trilogy was a doozy but now I'm not sure which book is more involved. Wonder what the third book is going to be like. This story was a good example of how one's past shapes how they accept things in the future for both the hero and heroine. Once started I didn't stop until I reached the end. I wouldn't have minded if there had been more but I'm sure we will get an update on the characters in the third book.

Benjamin and Victoria find themselves in quite a mess when it comes to love, attraction and the right thing to do. What is expected is that she marries the person her grandfather deems a match. There are secrets as well as various twists that when revealed will point these two characters in a set direction towards happiness.

Victoria has tentatively agreed to marry for convenience and then Benjamin comes into her life and she starts to rethink her decision. I enjoyed the story and all of the trials they went through before they were eventually married. There were secrets that temporarily stopped the wedding. There is a HEA but it was slow in coming. It’s a very nice love story that is well written and worth reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and are voluntarily leaving a review.
Benjamin and his family were in exile in Italy for ten years due to his father. Then it was found out that he had been set up. Now Ben's family are back in England except for his father who was executed before it was found that he was innocent. Victoria has been promised to a man by her grandfather. Can Ben change the course of their lives?
Victoria knows she has a duty to marry, but as an artist she has no desire for it. She wants to please her grandfather. So she hopes for a marriage of convenience. However, so many other reasons to avoid marriage come through as the story unfolds. Her past impacts her present. The story has many twists, turns and secrets which unravel throughout. It was interesting and intriguing.
Really enjoyed reading Victoria and Duncan's story. Victoria doesn't believe in love until she meets Duncan who is everything that she never realised she wanted. Especially when compared to her betrothed.
Normandie Alleman is one of my favorite authors. I can always rely on her to produce fresh and attention-capturing stories The Viscount's Secret is told perfectly by the author. Couldn't put it down. Wonderful, believable characters. Unique situations to face. Loved the ending.
