IMPORTANT The Enraptured Heir is a reworking of a previously published story, The Angel and the Aristocrat. The main characters are the same, but their circumstances, the secondary characters, and the wider plot of the series have changed. You may recognize familiar bits and passages, but this is a new story.

USA Today Bestselling author Merry Farmer lives in suburban Philadelphia with her two cats, Justine and Peter. She has been writing since she was ten years old and realized she didn't have to wait for the teacher to assign a creative writing project to write something. It was the best day of her life. Her books have reached the top of Amazon's charts, and have been named finalists for several prestigious awards, including the RONE Award for indie romance.
I really enjoyed this book, it was sweet and captivating and I didn't want to put it down. The author stated that this was a rewritten story and she has plans to rewrite another one and the same vein; I can't wait to read it! I really like the character of Angeline - she was sweet, fiery, and knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to get it.

This is only my 12th book by Merry Farmer. I didn't read her until she wrote a series with Scarlett Scott and Caroline Lee. I started reading her in Jan, 2020. To be truthful, she is one of those authors for me that when I am out of TBR books on my kindle and my regular authors don't have any new releases coming out yet, I will pick up her books. That doesn't mean that aren't good reads. She just doesn't always write in my genre and she has quite a few books out that are only just over 100 pgs and I prefer longer reads and I'm a Regency snob.
But with all that being said, I enjoyed Angeline and Rafe's story. I just wish it would have been a bit longer. I felt book 1 got a bit more depth in such a short read. I did like this couple but would have loved a bit more depth.
I am loving the mystery within the series but they didn't seem to mention it as much as book 1. Can't wait to read more.
After a single, spoiled season five years before, Lady Angeline O’Shea cannot believe she has been invited to a house party where matches are certain to be made. Everyone is scrambling to discover the identity of Lord Carshalton’s mysterious heir, but Angeline would rather solve the mystery of how to make Lord Rafe McAllister, the Marquis of Rothbury, smile again. Fresh from a broken betrothal in which his reputation was raked through the mud, Rafe wants nothing more than to hide away at Nedworth Hall for the summer, licking his wounds. Then he meets Angeline An absolute delight, Rafe & Angeline both fell hard & fast for each other but he’s been bitten once. I loved them both & thoroughly enjoyed their journey to a HEA. A very well written story, which I devoured in a sitting. Did she make him smile? Well that would be telling! My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Any time an O’Shea is involved, it is full of fun and excitement, with no idea as to what is going to happen next. Angeline, a cousin to the mischievous O’Shae’s, has found the man she wants to marry and Rafe is happy to accommodate but there are a few bumps along the way. I love the character of Angeline and even though she is an innocent, she has a wealth of knowledge that is unusual for unwed young ladies of that time. It’s a great read that keeps you wondering what she will do next. I loved the H/h and would highly recommend it as a great read. The Enraptured Heir (The Secrets Of Nedworth Hall series - #2) is a pleasure to read and a great continuation of this series. It’s love at first sight when Angeline & Rafe meet during the house party at Nedworth Hall. She’s a bit shy at first but soon her naughty and adventurous nature shines through. He’s once bitten, twice shy, being betrayed by his former fiancée. But they’re such a perfect couple! I loved to read their story and can’t wait for the next ones.
I was a bit hesitant about this book when I first realized it would be a reworking of one of Merry’s past stories. I need not have worried. Merry managed to take the story and make it feel fresh and new. It was a bit instalove, but that wasn’t surprising considering the shorter page count. It had a very slight love triangle as well as a touch of grumpy vs sunshine (Angel is constantly trying to make Rafe smile, and he repeatedly refuses). Whether you read this story in its previous incarnation or not, don’t miss this latest release by Merry Farmer!
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
Lovely romantic story of her love at first sight and him trying to hold back as he had been bitten by his last fiance . Also said ex finance comes to get him back . Her brother was not keen on sister being with him to .must read
God, he loved her. He wasn’t entirely certain when that had happened, but he was so deeply in love now that he wasn’t sure he would ever be free of it, free of her. And dammit, he didn’t want to be free of her. He wanted to be Angeline’s forever.
Sigh…There's just something about Merry (🤪)…and her books 📚 that scream READ ME. The woman knows how to write good romance. …and I simply love..love LOVE everything of hers that I pick up.The Enraptured Heir is no exception. It’s a delightful surprise, charming, sweet, AND unexpectedly steamy! It's the perfect blend of sweetness and sizzle…and I love it! The story is pure joy, light-hearted, and an overall feel-good treat. With a colorful and witty cast of quirky and clever characters, Merry has created a darling tale that will leave you grinning from ear to ear.
Lord Rafe McAllister, Marquess of Rothbury, is a grumpy yet charming catch – and he's fully aware of it! But when his harlot of a fiancé ditches him, he retreats to try and salvage his reputation and escape the insuing scandal. Seeking a reprieve and promising himself to steer clear of all women, Rafe, joins his friend for a house party – one where all sorts of shenanigans take place including uncovering the Carshalton heir. What he did not expect to discover is a friendship and love unlike any he's ever known.
Lady Angeline O’Shea is a walking talking bit of sunshine. Beautiful, kind…fun! Not exactly what Rafe is looking for…but for sure what he needs. And so…she'll make sure she is what he'll get.
I love a straightforward book…one that's light on the angst…heavy on the heart warms (not worms folks)...and this book is that book. Whether it be a book with all the feels or one of her sexy smexy books…like I said before…there's just something about Merry.
The Enraptured Heir (novella) Merry Farmer Tropes: Grumpy/Sunshine, House Party ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🔥🔥.

What a wonderful story! I loved it, couldn’t put it down from start to finish. What a beginning for our couple, Angeline is overwhelmed by being at a house party with no one she knows except her brother. Rafe is trying to hide out till the rumors about him in London die down after his ex-fiancée’s lies ruined his reputation. When Angeline knocks a vase full of water and flowers all over him! He is shocked by how upset the lady is. He is not used to honesty and true feelings from Ladies of the ton. Rafe doesn’t trust women any more after what he has been thru. Can Angeline really be as nice and innocent as she seems? Why can’t he stop looking for her and spending time with her? Is she setting him up and will betray him just the last one? Angeline can’t believe she spilled water on the most handsome, somewhat grumpy man. Angeline is determined to make him smile. Even when her brother warns her to leave him alone and stay away neither can they seem to leave each other alone. It was great learning about her mother and how it helped her in the end. This book will have you laughing out loud, wanting to slap Rafe for his thinking and doubts. Hated his stick-up sour puss ex when she showed up trying to ruin everything. One of the best parts of this book is when Rafe is talking to Angeline's brother! It’s priceless. Don’t miss this fun, passionate, steamy story. It’s not long but will stay with you, I know I will go back and re-read it whenever I need a fun read with a great ending. I received an ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.
This is the 2nd book in Merry Farmer’s series located in the country at a house party. The goal is to uncover a mysterious heir. Angeline is a shy Irish noble who has been caregiver to her dying father for the past few years. Consequently, she was away from society, this is her first foray in quite some time, making her nervous. Rafe, on the hand, is hiding out at the house party from a messy broken engagement and scandal. Once Angeline meets Rafe, she experiences instant connection and is determined to lift his sadness and make him smile. Rafe, soured against women because of his former fiancé, is unsure about this beautiful young woman who has crossed his path. However, the more they are together, he sees the sincerity in Angeline. I enjoyed this story, it shared the timeline with the first novel and was very well done. Although, the hunt for the mysterious heir definitely took a back seat. It was great to see Angeline come out of her shell, and Rafe learn to trust again. They made a great couple. Of course, there has to be a hiccup during their romance in the form of Rafe’s former fiancé who shows up to reclaim him. She is a very unlikeable character. There are many other secondary characters who also add to the story. This is a very, very steamy story as is common with Merry Farmer. I recommend this story to lovers of the steamy Regency genre.
Lady Angeline O’Shea is invited to a house party and is terribly nervous that no one will like her. Her brother, Lord Avery O’Shea, assured her they would with her sweet disposition. While others are looking for a match and to find out more about Lord Carshalton’s mysterious heir, Angeline worried over Lord Rafe McAllister, the Marquess of Rothbury, who looked so very sad.
Rafe had just endured a broken engagement and would rather remain in hiding. His reputation was damaged. And although he knows he must produce an heir one day, he is in no hurry to do so. And how could he, a rake of dubious reputation, ever consider the sweet innocent Angeline for that role? However, he can’t help but fall for her sweet ways. Angeline went to her brother and told him she would like to marry Lord Rothbury and requests Avery arrange it. But will the arrival of Rafe’s ex-fiancée, Lady Farrah Beauregard, and the lies she told about the broken engagement turn negative attention back on Rafe so that Angeline’s brother will strongly object to her interest in Lord Rothbury whom he now sees as unworthy of his sister? And will Angeline consider the suggestion her lady friends come up with to make sure she must marry the man she loves?
This is a cute short love story novella set in the Nedworth Hall series with the ongoing storyline about a mystery heir.
According to the author, the story is re-written from a previous book but I haven‘t read it.
Lady Angelina is quite unblemished by the Ton, having spent the last years with her ailing father instead of continuing her seasons to find a husband. Lord Rafe is starting to feel like all women are like his last financee who cheated and was just interested in his money.
Well, the summer party in Nedworth Hall means these two have to spend time together. Angelina is determined to make Rafe smile and takes the sadness she sees in him away. When being dragged through various entertainments both realise they fall in love and Rafe is re-discovering that not all women are like the bad apple he had before.
Obviously with being a short novel, there is less development but both characters are well written with enough depth and history to make them likeable and real.
It is a funny story, great for a rainy day. There is less mystery about the unknown heir though but some of the characters are given more background and I look forward to the next couple.
Lady Angeline O’Shea has been invited to Nedworth Hall along with her brother for a house party which guests are also hoping may reveal the secret heir of Lord Carshalton, a mystery causing quite the buzz. Into this mix of scandal and propriety Angeline soon finds herself mistakenly knocking over a vase of flowers into the path of handsome Lord Rafe McAllister while fleeing a drawing room rather hurriedly which sets into play a series of events that delivers a delightful Historical Romance both amusing, well written and perfectly spiced to please. Lord McAllister becomes intrigued by Angeline as she is with him and despite her faux pas enchanted by her even though he has been trying to cloister himself away from the hurt of his recent past engagement that did not end well. With just a small amount of drama enhancing the plot this short little novella was very enjoyable and I could not help but be endeared to its pleasingly crafted characters and the captivating story that was told.

Oh the Shenanigans! Merry Farmer has rewritten her original story which first appeared in the ‘Second Chance Manor’ multi-author series a short while ago and she has done this really well. Its characters are the same but more fiesty and they come across as being more alive. Of course they get up to some adult mischief making the story itself more interesting and also very easy to read with Lady Angeline O’Shea and Lord Rafe McAllister finding an unexpected and interesting connection after literally bumping into each other. Rafe is struggling to come to terms with a previous broken engagement and this keeps on interfering with his view of Angeline. Yes! "Once bitten, twice shy!" But, she manages to crawl under his skin and into his head and well and they quickly find their happy every after. What an absolute delight this new version was and I have enjoyed every second of it. I read an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) supplied by Booksprout and my voluntary review is recorded above.
I was excited to read this book. Though the author said it was a rewritten story, I was introduced to these characters from the first book in this series. For me it was a completely new story.
Angeline is a sweet lady and has been a dutiful daughter. However, during the house party at Nedworth Hall she is smitten with Rafe and decides being good isn't always that much fun.
Rafe is not ready to fall in love again after being betrayed by his former finance but could Angeline be the woman to change his mind?
I absolutely loved these two characters. Much like the characters in the first book, these two stole my heart. I loved the way they complemented each other.
I am truly enjoying the people of Nedworth Hall this party gets better with each book.

In this the second of this series Lady Angeline, who has spent the last four years looking after her ailing father, literally bumps into Lord Rafe. He is suffering from his reputation being ruined by his ex fiancee, however has to eventually look for a wife to continue the family line. There is an instant attraction between the two, however Rafe hides it behind a gruff exterior but Angeline is determined to crack that mask. This is another fun romp, with some spicy moments, with the will they won't they get together against the backdrop of the mystery of the missing heir, who is one of the party, and is destined to inherit a considerable amount of money. A short story, but one to enjoy and to cheer you up in the "summer" weather that we are having in the UK as I write this review. I received an advance copy of this book through Booksprout, however this did not influence my review of the book.
Sweet insta-love at first sight. Lady Angeline thinks she is an outsider being from Ireland and being timidly shy and scared of everything. Rafe McAllister, the Marquis of Rothbury is also shy but in a different way, he doesn't want to loose his heart ever again. But when the two are invited to a house party for the summer, they both find out they are kindred spirits and totally in love with each other.
This was a super sweet story, loved seeing Angeline come into her own and become a woman who knows what she wants. Rafe although grumpy at first, is tender in his own way. It was a short story but I felt it was thorough enough to give the reader a good feel for the story and the characters. Low on the drama scale because it is so short but the disapproving brother and ex-fiancee liven things up a bit. Plus we get to see more of the other characters at the party.

The Enraptured Heir by Merry Farmer is the second book in The Secrets of Nedworth Hall series. It’s an action packed novella featuring Lady Angeline O’Shea. You might recognize that last name from Farmer’s That Wicked O’Shea family series.
Lady Angeline is shy and somewhat nervous when she arrives at Nedworth Hall with her brother, Avery, Lord Carnlough. She runs into Rafe, Marquess of Rothbury, who has recently endured a scandal he didn’t cause. Angeline sets her sights on Rafe, and let the fun begin!
I love a heroine who goes after what she wants, and Angeline certainly fits that description. I adore the O’Shea family, and I wouldn’t mind if more cousins were discovered. The stories can stand alone, but I recommend reading them in order. I’m enjoying putting the pieces together.

Scandal, House Parties, Performances: In the time period of this story young ladies and gentlemen attended house parties to meet, commingle, play games, and other activities in hope of finding new friends, husbands or lovers. This is where Angeline and Rafe who quite literally run into each other. They both take notice and soon sparks fly. This is a romance story after all. They have many hurdles to get through. Of course, there is the controlling brother and a former betrothed harpy, but with all of their ups and downs to conquer they do reach their happy ending. I truly enjoyed the story that gave me many chuckles and a few Oh No's along the way. The ending is quite surprising for all and a delightful story to read. ✔Fan Worthy? Yes🌶🌶🌶 ✔I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest opinion and thoughts.
This novella is an entertaining historical romance, with some adult heat. Lovely, shy Lady Angeline and her brother are invited to a matchmaking house party for the summer. Lord Rafe McAllister is a reluctant guest at the same house party, after his prior engagement ended scandalously. An interesting lineage mystery is unveiled for the guests to consider while they flirt, look for strategic matches and engage in upper class Victorian house party activities. Lady Angeline and Lord Rafe are immediately attracted but need to figure out how to achieve their HEA. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the Nedworth Hall series now, to see how the other characters find their matches (and for the resolution of the lineage mystery raised at the house party). Recommended! I received an advance copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
The country house party is supposed to be fun and to find the identity of a mysterious heir. Fresh from a broken betrothal in which his former fiancé and her family pretty much ruined his reputation, Lord Rafe McAllister, the Marquess of Rothbury, hopes to get a respite from the scandal. Lady Angeline O’Shea had one abbreviated season five years ago. She spent those years caring for her ailing father. She is attending the party with her brother. Their meeting was messy, but memorable. Rafe and Angeline fell hard for each other. There were some bumps on their way to happily ever after; the biggest when his ex-fiancé shows up to get him back. This is a delightful story filled with humor, mystery, interesting characters, a wonderful romance, and a happy ending. I received an ARC of this book via BookSprout and voluntarily reviewed it.
Lady Angeline has not been in society for a few years caring for her ill father and is shy and skittish at the matchmaking house party. She has an awkward first meeting with Rafe when she knocks a vase of flowers to the floor and onto him. Rafe is a very stern and serious marquess who is suffering rumors of his ruined ex-fiancee who ran off with another man. Angeline and Rafe are instantly smitten with each other and spend much of the book talking and getting to know each other, even though Rafe has trouble trusting women after the deceit of his ex-fiancee. Angeline is everything wholesome and good though and he easily falls in love with her. It’s a relatively low-angst story, despite Angeline’s brother’s disapproval and the surprise appearance of the ex-fiancee at the party.
This is a retelling of a previous book I’ve read by Ms Farmer… but what a great retelling it is… the story of Rafe and Angel and their mutual attraction over the summer…. I really like Rafe and felt he dealt with his new love and old love perfectly..especially the way he told Angels brother he was to marry his sister, I laughed out loud. Angel was sweet and went after what she wanted, which I appreciate when the female leads are not whiny or immature. The whole story was just so sweet. No real angst involved, sex was somewhat tame , no comparison to other books by Ms Farmer.
I throughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next.. short quick read..
Entertaining story This book takes place during a summer house party—a moment of entertainment. It introduces two great characters, Angeline and Rafe. Angeline is a sweet, shy young lady. Rafe has been betrayed by a former fiancé and has had a scandalous reputation since then. He is rather scowling. During this summer holiday, she gains self-assurance around Rafe and her new friends. She is then a cheerful woman full of life who knows what she wants. Rafe rediscovers his capacity for trust and relishes life with Angeline. We can sense their discovery of each other and their attraction to one another. I think this book makes us discover a great couple.

Loved it! From shy to wanton, Angeline falls fast and hard for Rafe. He falls for her too, but the fiasco with his previous fiance has left him distrustful of women. What follows is a delightful story of an upbeat high energy young woman who just wants to make the man she adores smile. Meanwhile, the guests at the house party are still trying to uncover a long lost heir, as well as make their own romantic matches. The characters are diverse and engaging, and this story is so much fun to read. There is a wonderful bait and switch that takes place that is most satisfying for the reader, and more than the lady deserved.

This delightful novella has Lady Angeline traveling to a house party with her brother, an Earl. She is quite nervous having been out of society for a few years caring for her ailing father. She is rather sheltered and naive, but when she encounters Rafe McAllister, Marquess of Rothbury, spilling a vase of flowers all over him, she decides that it is love at first sight! He is quite taken with her, but he is still reeling from a scandalized broken engagement, and needs no other entanglements. She is not discouraged and makes an all out effort to make the sullen Lord smile, and then win his heart. He can not deny the affect that she has on him. If only his ex fiancé would leave him alone! A charming story!
Thanks to Booksprout for a copy of this novella and this is my freely given opinion.
This is a reworking of a previously published story. Lady Angeline O'Shea, a sweet, shy beauty, and Rafe McAllister, the embittered, maligned Marquess of Rothbury, have a meet-cute at a house party that becomes love at first sight. He has been recently thrown over by his faithless fiancee, who is not content to merely leave him at the alter, but painted him as the villain of the break up. But Angel enchants and enraptures him. She is the sunshine to his bitter grump.
But of course the path to love and happiness is never smooth, so guess who shows up to toss nails onto their path to a HEA?
4.5 I love this series anything with an O’Shea Irish family is going to be hilarious! I just wish we had an epilogue for those dozen children! Rafe McCallister aka Marquess of Rothbury was at a summer long house party fleeing a scandal not of his own making! He was previously engaged and Lady Farrah ran off with another and her family paints her as the victim and she as the woman scorned! Angeline aka Angel is taken with Rafe who is somber and rarely smiles although he is enraptured by Angel her brother Avery is against it! When Lady Farrah shows up to try to coerce Rafe into marriage Angel must act fast! With her new found friends will she keep the man she loves and gain Lady Farrah a husband for her disgrace? Bravo get ready to laugh and gain a new book boyfriend!
This is a recycled novel from a different series with a change of view. Angelina has been out of society for a while so she can take care of her dying father. Now that he has passed, she is excited to come back and make some friends. Rafe, heartbroken from a failed engagement, was forced to attend a house party for the summer and was quite taken when he met Angelina. She recognized sadness in him and was determined to make him smile. Together they formed a friendship and eventually fell in love. It was a really cute short story.

Rafe didn’t know why he was at the house party! He certainly wasn’t looking for someone to love.
After his reputation had been raked over the coals and the rumours about him were getting out of hand, he just wanted a quite unassuming life in peace when along came Angeline.
Oops, the first time she met him an accident occurred but she was enthralled by him and had decided she would marry him!
A fun regency read with some steamy romantic moments and a misunderstanding that had to be addressed before they could grab their very own HEA.
