Forced to work together when their old schoolmates start dying, Hermione & Draco must overcome their differences to solve the mysterious deaths. The tension in the office is getting rather...heated. Mature themes. 4years PostHogwarts/War. EWE. DMHG. Words: 191,497 complete
The story takes place 4 years after the Battle of Hogwarts. Hermione is an Auror. Draco is the deputy-head of the Department of Improper Use of Magic, where he supervises ex-convicts who dabbled in the Dark Arts. When ex-Death Eaters and Muggle-borns start being brutally murdered, Hermione and Draco are forced to work the case together.
At first, working with each other seems nearly impossible for Draco and Hermione. Draco may be a changed man and well respected in the ministry, but Hermione struggles to see anything else but her school bully. However, after spending countless hours together in close quarters, they grow to trust, respect, and, dare I say, like one another. And when tensions run high, so does the heat.
My Thoughts:
I was extremely disappointed because Hunted is so hyped up by everyone who loves Dramione fanfic. Plus, I loved Bex-Chan's Isolation so my expectations were even higher. I didn't realize this was Bex-Chan's first story but knowing what I know now, I would have started with Hunted and then read Isolation.
What I liked . . .
Story concept. While I found the plot predictable, I really enjoyed the idea of the Vendetta movement. Plus, two rivals having to come together to solve a murder mystery is always entertaining.
The beginning. This story had a ton of potential and it started a little slow but was interesting. I enjoyed the story set-up as well as the slow-burn romance between Draco and Hermione. There was a lot of great sexual tension and angst. However, eventually, the plot became predictable and the Dramione relationship never progressed.
What I didn't like . . .
Predictable 'whodunnit' murder mystery plot. There are so many obvious clues sprinkled throughout the story that point directly towards the villain. Since you know who the killer is for almost the entire story, the ending is very anticlimactic.
Draco is a prick from beginning to end. I expected Draco to be a 'bad boy who is rude to protect himself from getting hurt but turns into a good boy,' but no. Instead, we get a$$hole Draco, and we are just supposed to accept him 100%.
The amount of times he calls Hermione a b*tch throughout this story, and actually means it, was awful. It made sense when they're reintroduced, but he continues calling her this while they're romantically involved. Not sexy and just plain rude. He also never apologizes! I definitely lost some respect for Hermione's character for letting him talk to her like that.
Draco also disregards her feelings ALL THE TIME!!!! One specific instance that stands out is when Hermione wakes up and starts freaking out because she sees someone in the bedroom. When Draco wakes up, he has the nerve to be annoyed with Hermione. Then, after he checks out the house and no one is there, Hermione tries to convince him there was an intruder, and Draco just says, "Enough. . . I'm knackered. . . just go to sleep." Like, is he for real????? If I were Hermione, I'd dump his ass right there! This leads to my next point.
One of my least favorite Dramione fanfic relationships. Honestly, it's because Draco was such an ass (see point above). Hermione is an aurora. She's brave, kind, and smart. Yet, she puts up with Draco calling her a b*tch and disregarding her feelings. Hermione also apologizes to Draco sooooo much when it was totally unnecessary. Their relationship was not romantic. . . it was toxic and abusive in some ways. Their love is not convincing.
Wordy AF. Bex-Chan is a descriptive writer, and sometimes, it's not always necessary. It didn't bother me as much in Isolation, but it was unbearable in this fanfic. I think it's because I hated the Dramione story and found the plot predictable, so I didn't care to read about the little details. I found myself skimming everything but the dialogue.
Overall, Hunted was a letdown and a fanfic I won't be rereading. If you're looking for something better, check out my Dramione fanfic rankings below.

I discovered the 'Dramione' fan-fiction movement on accident, but now I cannot get enough. Bex-chan is a really great writer, and fully imagines alternate storylines within the parameters of Rowling's original universe. While I actually like Bex-chan's other 'Dramione' fan-fiction, Isolation, better than this one, Hunted was still very well done. I was captivated from the very beginning, and was attempting to solve the mystery right along with Draco and Hermione. If you enjoy well done fan-fiction, this is a great one to try on for size.
The biggest let down ever, this is so hyped up by like everyone as the bEst DrAMionE faNfic and I haven't even read any other Dramione fanfics but that cant be true:)). The pacing was literally Horrific, it started off really slow which is all good bc I like me some push and pull but then like they had their first kiss and it just went Full Speed Ahead with like -5 conflicts. Another bad thing was that there were a lot of like whole words missing from sentences:))) spelling and punctuation were completely fine but often there were words missing from sentences which ruined the flow of reading. Even that was fine by me but for some of the more """"emotional""" scenes it just pulled you back from the story.
Dramione. The first fic by the author of isolation (it was their second - like oh my gods) any way this one is post war Coworkers to lovers with a murder mystery that is partially obvious, partially oh my God I was worried for the serial killer! Believable slow burn. Cw: Theo dies.

4.5⭐️ loved isolation from this author, so it was fun to read another one of their works. I love a possessive jealous Draco. The only only only thing I would change about this book is changing every single ‘bitch’ to ‘swot’ instead haha
It was very predictable at parts honestly. The premise was good. Draco could have stood to be a little less dickish and invalidating. 🤷🏻 Also, the horrific amount of grammar and spelling errors bothered the ever living shite out of me....
UGHHH WHY IS DRAMIONE SO PERFECT. Like, seriously! They're made for each other. Also, I deserve a medal for the endless chapters of unbearable seggsual tension I had to go through. ANYWAYS, It was really good, like amazing. Honestly, the plot was really engaging although a bit slow at times. And the last 5 chapters were so sad! I finished this in the car and I had to hide my teary eyes from my family!! Not as good as Bex Chan's other dramione fic, Isolation, BUT STILL STUNNING! I had to take off 0.2 stars for all the times I was robbed. Like, honestly. SHOW not TELL. I am so tempted to binge more dramione fics BUT I WILL RESIST!!! Full review coming to blog soon...
It wasn't the best Dramione fanfiction I've read by any means, but I would still recommend it to anyone in the Dramione fandom. It's a staple piece, just like Manacled or Isolation. (Speaking of Isolation: READ HUNTED FIRST so that your expectations can be blown away. It's not only Bex-chan's best work but the Dramione fandom's best work. Reading anything after it that you expect to be better isn't fair). The plot twists were predictable but the characters were interesting and well-written. 3.5/5 stars.
Again, what a lovely book. Yes it was predictable but I was still thoroughly encapsulated by this book and its contents. The character development was amazing, and I loved the plot so much, I need to read something like this again to be honest.
Bex Chan is one of my favorite Dramione fanfiction authors & I'm a huge fan of her work. Hunted was truly a great read & I recommend it to very Dramione fan out there!
"Hunted" is a Harry Potter fanfiction written by the author Bex-Chan. Draco and Hermione are paired together a few years after the war to collaborate on solving a series of murders, and soon their relationship begins to develop.
It started off slowly, then picked up pace, but ultimately failed to hold my attention towards the end. In my opinion, the plot would have benefited from being shorter. Overall, I liked the plot, it felt realistic, and I didn't encounter any major plot holes, but I did notice some frequent typos.
The story and the characters really made me giggle and kick my feet in the air, it was such a cute story, even though Draco sometimes still acted like an asshole and gave me a little bit of an uncomfortable feeling. However, the characters were great overall. While I did feel sad and emotional, it wasn't to the extent I usually do, probably because I wasn't as invested in the story.
All in all, it was an enjoyable fanfiction, but nothing extraordinary. I am looking forward to reading the author's other works since I've heard they are much better, especially "Isolation."
While reading this fic I described it to friends as a murder mystery, buddy detective, enemies to lovers smörgåsbord.
If anyone is looking to dip their toes into fanfiction, this may just be the place to start. This is the first fic written by Bex-chan, her second being Isolation. Isolation is super popular in the fandom, and definitely one of my favourites. Definitely check out my review for that one if you want my opinions on fanfiction as a genre.
For her first attempt, this was just a really great read. Super intriguing plot and possibly the first thriller type fic I've read before. I was pulled right into the mystery and I think you could easily change all the characters names to make this an accessible non-HP read.
Quote that stood out to me: "There's always a calm after the storm too."
Lost star for me was a combination of a few too many spelling mistakes and a slower plot in the middle of the fic. I definitely lost a bit of momentum for a few chapters. But otherwise, definitely a hidden gem and one I would recommend.
I have mixed feelings about this fic. I really loved some parts but I had a 2 week break between the book since it was not the best one I’ve read. Its very obvious from the beginning who the killer is and that made me lose some interest. I maybe also missed some drama. Draco and Hermione start of slow but from the moment they kiss for the first time, it goes extremely fast. They had maybe one real argument and the rest was all lovey dovey and I personally really love drama in a story. we did get robbed a lot if you know what i mean.
It was a good story but it maybe is a bit overhyped since people were telling me that I must read this. I do love Bex-Chan’s way of writing and her other story Isolation was amazing.
The characters in this book were also portraited amazing and I fell in love even more with them. I would recommend this if you are a dramione fan but I would recommend Isolation more for example.
it doesn't take long to hear the name bex-chan after entering the wonderful world of dramione fics. if you ask for recs, their name is often on the list--followed by immense praise. usually the word " dramione queen" thrown in there.....with all that said, I was kinda disappointed? the writing was ok--definitely not horrible. the story had good intrigue (although I thought it was easy to guess the culprit pretty early on). the build up draco/hermione's relationship was again, alright. didn't have any ~squeal in excitement at the cuteness/stupidity/sexyness~ moments. characterization was again, alright. not my fave Draco I've read. the sexy scenes were also kinda lack luster and written in a weird way in my opinion.
it was good, nothing great, but I don't see myself rereading anytime soon.
Youtube Review I wanted to like this book. I really did. Isolation? A masterpiece. This? A work in progress.
I give it a pass though, it was Bex-chan's early works and she has improved since then. I know my piano playing isn't as good as previously. I didn't really feel a pull of the characters and the personalities weren't fleshed out yet. That being said, it's not a bad book. I've just read so many better ones out there I felt like this wasn't up to par.
The antagonist and murder didn't really feel like it was that thrilling and the relationship between Draco and Hermione was so so.
I really enjoyed the portray of Draco in this one. He was spot on for me. Hermione could have been better. For the most part I really liked her but really grew tried of her freezing up when danger happened. She's supposed to be an Auror but holy hell did her going in to panic mood and becoming completely useless get old fast. Her brains and fire-y attitude was awesome.
I had the bad guy figured out with in the first quarter of the story. I was a little disturbed with how Draco dealt with it all at the end of the book but whatever, I guess the author thought it relevant.
The story itself was well done but kind of sizzled out about 65-75% through. It was enough for me to finish but defiantly not something I will pick up a second time.
Bex-Chan is the author of my VERY FAVORITE Dramione fanfic (Isolation), so I was excited to find that she had another novel-length Dramione fic. Per the description on her FanFic.net page, this is actually her first dip into Dramione, and I will say that it showed a bit. I totally loved it, and it was well done, but it def *felt* like a debut. Nonetheless, Dramione shippers will want to add this into their TBR!
Loved the mystery aspect but the characters were irritating to no end😭 I would've DNF'ed if I hadn't been so intrigued to see if I was right about the predictable baddy.
Crookshanks continuing to be my favourite character in all fics he appears in😌
If you come across this fic, don't let it put you off the author! It's her first work and her others are incredible! We all learn and grow with practice and experience.
Bex Chan’s brilliance is something else entirely. I loved Isolation and I loved Hunted - no matter how many times I’ve read each, they never fail to amaze me.
Hunted is set in a post war wizarding world in which Hermione and Draco are working together (much to their mutual dismay in the start) at the ministry on a recent case.
The angst. The slow-burn. The plot and its execution. Everything is incredible.
I enjoyed this. It wasn't as good as 'Isolation', but I enjoyed a more open-minded Draco. I probably should have read this one first. Oh well. The twist was predictable, unfortunately. I think I had it figured out within the first few chapters. I liked that there were clues that kept me doubting that. But the final showdown scene was very dramatic and visually interesting.
This is probably THE best fan story of all time. Despite using characters that already existed, the plot is completely original. The characters are probably the most in canon I've seen in a fan fiction story. The plot had me on the edge of my seat again (second read) and it just brings me so much joy.
i honestly don’t know when i read this book i just know it was when i started introducing myself to dramione and the whole world of fanfiction. i thought this book was decent the plot is pretty good but it’s just not great. i’m not gonna lie tho since i read this book almost a year ago i cant really remember it maybe if i really want to i’ll reread it but who knows :)
I enjoyed this story, I actually prefer it compared to Isolation, I always like when there is some action and mystery going on besides relationship development. It could use some editing though, typos/repeating words etc. were throwing me off a bit.
Incredible exciting! After I started I had to read the last 5 chapters first just to see how it ends because I could not stand to wait! The author is extremely talented and writes a wonderful, exciting, interesting style. One of the best stories in fandom!
I really like how they progress Draco and give him that character development we all wanted. The entire thing was just so good. i was so glad there was a good ending;)
