Nighttime Dreams

Rate this book
Bryan, a simple country sheriff, is ready to shoot someone and hide the body. One particular homophobic FBI agent is really pressing his buttons. Along with that he finds himself in the middle of an FBI investigation revolving around a recent UFO crash landing, is questioned about a missing friend targeted by the FBI, and makes first contact with the very alien the FBI is hunting.

Daroshi, Ma’Rairan warrior, has fulfilled his obligation to his species, and is ready to mate. As second in command he monitored the rescue of his captain who crashed on Earth while collecting his mate, and witnessed the confrontation between a country sheriff name Bryan and his captain. Impressed by how courageously the brawny human male handled meeting a fully armed alien warrior, Daroshi asks permission to take Bryan a mate.

Neither male is ready for the problems that come with Daroshi’s decision, nor the passion that explodes between them.

M.A. Church is a true Southern belle who spent many years in the elementary education sector. Now she spends her days lost in fantasy worlds, arguing with hardheaded aliens on far-off planets, herding her numerous shifters, or trying to tempt her country boys away from their fishing poles. It’s a full time job, but hey, someone’s gotta do it!

When not writing, she’s on the back porch tending to the demanding wildlife around the pond in the backyard. The ducks are very outspoken. She’s married to her high school sweetheart, and they have two grown children.

Even better than the first book...I was in the mood for TENTACLES :D

Bryan is quite a tough guy and a cop to boot...but he's always wanted to be a little man-handled in the bedroom. When Daroshi takes him as his mate, he's pleasantly surprised. But will Bryan ever be truly happy away from his beloved Earth?

I really enjoyed this second book in the series. I love that Daroshi got Bryan, they really fit well together and we got lots of Ziang and Shawn from the first book. I loved learning more about their species. Man I'm already looking forward to the third book.

Although this was not my cup of tea, that is not why I gave it two stars. I gave it two stars because it is in bad need of editing, the tone of the ok seemed immature as did the main characters and the dialogue. Sorry.

This book was great. . but more as great as the first. We pick up exactly where we left Off in the first book down to the minute and continue from there. Daroshi sees Bryan while rescuing Ziang from earth and realizes he is his mate.
I enjoyed the progression of the story very much. The characters are written very well and the author makes sure to pull you completely into the story. However, the author chose for some strange reason NOT to finish the story! It's like the reader is pulled up a mountain and told to sit at the top for the rest of their life instead of getting to go down the other side! !! Unfinished stories are pointless. And the way this one ends is LITERALLY in the middle of a big event. The couple hadn't even said I love you or anything! We really got no closure here and if the author was shooting for HFN....mid sentence was not the way to go. :/ This book was literally a 5star.... until the last page!
I also noticed that the author has a tendency to only include one full on sex scene. I know ppl have differing opinions on that so I thought it needed mentioning. ..

3.5

Another great installment of this alien tentacle series. This one focuses on the sheriff Bryan and the alien second in command Daroshi. I did find Daroshi a bit too tentative for the big bad warrior he's supposed to be but that didn't impact my enjoyment too much. I loved that we got quite a bit of Ziang and Shawn as well.

This one ended a bit abruptly so I'm definitely on board with book three.

I don't like it because Bryan seemed too...juvenile?

Argh, the entire thing was wangstier than a woman on extreme PMS. Someone's about to manstruate...
There were times I just couldn't take him seriously. He got really...fruity...(camp?), which wasn't something I necessarily expected from a purportedly deeply closeted small-town sheriff.

The dude on the cover so does NOT look mid-thirty-ish.

So the aliens' saga continues in this second book. Daroshi wanted Bryan, the local sheriff for his mate and easily transports (kidnaps) him to the spaceship and then they are off to their native planet.

Since Bryan has always wanted a bigger and dominant partner, Daroshi is the perfect mate for him. But first they have to deal with some violent aliens, a bad poisoning and a hunting game gone wrong.

A good read, though I enjoyed the first book more.

I really couldn’t wait to start reading this book after finishing the first book because even though I don’t usually like sci-fi books, yet I just couldn’t get enough of this story.
While I’m glad that this book was about Bryan because he was hinted at so much in the previous book that I just couldn’t wait to hear his story. I really think that Ms. Church did a great job at telling his story, even though she leaves us with quite a cliffhanger at the end of it! Don’t get me wrong, I still loved the story even though there was the ending that I didn’t enjoy, but thankfully the next story is already out so you can go ahead and start reading it!
I did like the amount of drama and suspense that was added into this book because it just kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to figure out what was going to happen next. Also, I did enjoy how we were still able to catch up with Shawn and his mate as well! The story moved along at a really quick way, but not missing any details that could leave you wanting for more.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read the next one!

This is the follow up book to, Nighttime Wishes and they must be read in order.
This book is Bryan and Daroshi story, but Shawn and Ziang is a big feature in it as well. Bryan is the town sheriff and like Shawn, just not happy with life in general. After seeing Shawn being swept away by the alien, he wanted to know, why he can’t find someone to love and take care of him. Little did he know he already had? Daroshi is Ziang First Officer and has decided to take Bryan has his mate. The problem is unlike Shawn; Bryan has no warning, courtship. And doesn’t take to kindly to being kidnapped by two seven foot aliens, once on the ship things don’t get much better. Can they all settle into a peaceful life?
Like the first book, this is a sweet tale about a lonely guy just wanting to be loved. The easy connection between all four is nice. The animosity between Daroshi and Haya is a good touch. I liked that Bryan had a great fight or flight attitude and he chose fight. Once again, we aren’t left with a cliffy but you know it’s opened ended enough for a book 3.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review by Crystals Many reviews

This is the second book in MA Church’s Nighttime Wishes series. While this book mostly focuses on Bryan and Daroshi, we do get to keep in touch with Zaine and Shawn from the first book. We gain more insight into the Maz’Rarian race as a whole which is fascinating and the relationship between Bryan and Daroshi is beautiful. I loved seeing these two big men fall in love with each other it is always fun to watch big men find their soul mates.

This book had some fun twists and turns and it ended right after some major drama with major plot lines still unresolved. But cliffhanger ending aside I love these characters and the premise so I will definitely read the third book!

Hey long on story and double the tentacles! So the alien really is more like the alien in the movie Predator although these aliens have heart, or at least some of them do. The story, as the first installment, kind of ends in a cliffhanger. I say kind of because you could conceivably not read anymore and it won't kill the story at all. However I would like to read more and hope another installment is in the works. I mean who knew tentacle love was so so tentacly. Definitely going to need a list.

If you enjoyed the first book, you'll enjoy this one as well. the first book takes place on earth. This book takes place on a spaceship. I'm guessing that the third book will take place on the aliens' home planet.

This book did end with a little bit of a cliffhanger. A crime is committed and we don't find out who's responsible. However, the ending is not abrupt and no one is in any immediate peril.

This started off nice and then sort of dragged for me. I liked the little mystery of who dunnit concerning Bryan's health scare. Otherwise, it was an ok read. I think I liked the first book better but, I do want to read the next book in the series.

Once I started this I confirmed the feeling that I've read it before... what did I do?

I skimmed ahead.

Hag female alien tries to get the jump on claiming Bryan. Then attacks him later. I definitely remember these things.. bells are ringing..

I always enjoy M. A. Church's writing. This was a good sequel to Nighttime Dreams. I just wish the ending would have had a little more substance.

A solid follow-up to Nighttime Wishes -- in fact I think I may have liked it better. Lots of action. The MCs were engaging, masculine, and hot, and the alien sex was very steamy. Whew!
