Jennifer Malone Wright is best known for her best selling novella series, The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter. Other works include the follow up to The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter series called The Arcadia Falls Chronicles, The Graveyard Guardians series and her full length vampire novel called Savior (A Higher Collective Novel).
She resides in the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho with her husband and five children where she practices preparing for the zombie apocalypse. Just kidding!
But seriously, between the craziness of taking care of her children, Jennifer has little time left for herself. The time she does have left, usually leading far into the night, is spent working on her beloved fiction or chatting with her equally crazy friends.
This was a fun and easy to read and just like most books it takes a little time to understand the character's persona but once she is established and the beat of the story is settled, the series is as many say addictive, and I can see why. Jennifer has a gift of writing action and moving the plot along. Yes yes most know that I am not a big vampire lit fan, but this book was refreshing and it wasn't trying to be something that it's not. Fast paced and interesting characters, I especially enjoyed the last two books 5 & 6. But I think my favorite is still five. I recommend this to all ages as something fun that will not ask of the reader for too much. Great book to have in your bag so you can pick it up anywhere. Ms. Jennifer Malone Wright knows what she's doing...give her a chance!
Yeez what a rush, This book was not on my list and read the wrong one ! Really stoupid... but Yeeeh for me because this is a great series! I wouldn't have missed it for the world. It is a strange mix between Raised by Wolves Series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes meets the TV show Nine Lives of Chloe King.
I loved the whole collection, The special edition of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter it contains 6 parts. I wouldn't recommend it to read them separately because maybe they are a little to short for that. But the 6 parts in the book work brilliantly.
The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter is a fantastic read, from the first page it got me hooked and ik had to finish the book al the way thru. The characters from this story are great, strong story with realistic world building. The story is written fast-paced but not rushed. The story contains al the right elements like the paranormal beings, action, betrayal, humor, love triangle.
I am a big fan of Cloe she is a great character and I really loved her relation with Drew and love to read more of them in the future. This is a YA so not the amount of romance that I prefer but enough to keep it interesting. (holding hand and some kisses)
I highly recommend this series and this author - If you enjoyed Raised by Wolves Series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, you definitely going to enjoy The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter...I can see a possibility (she says hopeful) for book 7 so maybe after you have read these books/series you can have desert later!
An episodic young adult series, Jennifer Malone Wright’s The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter combines six novelettes into a satisfying young adult novel with very natural section breaks for the reader. The story centers on a teenager who witnesses her mother’s murder then finds herself thrust into a world of vampire hunters, surrounded by strangers willing to give up their lives just to save hers. Chloe Kallistrate learns answers to questions of her mother’s past, but the mystery of her father remains cloudy and filled with anger and betrayal. Daughter of a hunter, destined for great power, surrounded by relatives she never knew, Chloe still has to continue her high school education while learning warrior skills, swearing vengeance on her mother’s murderers, and, possibly, falling in love. But is everything really as clearcut as it seems? The first three parts of this series lead from the well-drawn shock of first attack to Chloe’s discovery of powers and skills and boyfriends. The story moves quickly with plenty of excitement, interesting hints of mystery, and nicely human characters. The plot certainly keeps the reader's interest and the episodic structure works well, with well-chosen divisions. Parts four through six add darkness and lonely determination to the mix, leading to a satisfying conclusion even while new storylines promise another series to come. Disclosure: I was given free ecopies of these novellas by the author in exchange for my honest review.
What can we say about Chloe? I enjoyed these short stories mom a slayer dad a vampire Chloe's world comes crashing down as she must learn the ropes of slaying a must read
To follow is a combination of parts of my previous reviews of 1-6, to make a huge review for the Complete Collection.
Firstly, I’d like to thank Author Jennifer Malone Wright for the opportunity to read for review this spectacular series!!! Woot Woot
The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter (The Beginning) follows the life of young 14 year old Chloe who witnesses her mother’s murder… yes, right in front of her.
On this very same day Chloe vows to seek revenge against the vampire who killed her mother…. Chloe learns many family secrets that night and more in the days that follow that dreadful day, about her mother, father and also of others in her family. Leading her down a wild journey, which shows her what her family is and what/who she ultimately will become.
After being awakened in the middle of the night by her mother, hidden in a closest from the intruders that broke into their home. Felicia, her mother was demanded to hand over Chloe!!!! Nope, she isn’t going to do it. A fight/battle ensues with the vampires, her mother fighting against them.. Why??? You might be asking… They’ve come for Chloe, to take her to the father that she has never known.
I’m not going to give away anymore, but you need to know this; The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter is a series that engulfs you from the very beginning with it’s accelerating fast pace, with an ongoing storyline that unfolds with each installment. You became familiar with the characters quickly, who they are, and what they are about as the premise flows smoothly. Clearly and precisely a captivating phenomenal story.
I absolutely love Author Jennifer Malone Wrights style. At times it felt like I could just picture her as she was plotting the next scene. Sitting there, her amazing brain churning as each sentence is written…. Tick, tick, tick…
The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter continues with book 2, POWERFUL BLOOD….
Chloe comes from the blood of angels, demi-gods and in her special case, a vampire…. Her blood is that which comes from the Original Vampire Hunters, and having such a strong mixture of blood has the potential to be VERY POWERFUL. (-:
Training now with vampire hunters for two months, she has sworn to herself that she was going to be the best- like her mother. She runs the trails for 1 hour each morning, then school, then works out on the machines in the gym…. Then as Chloe would say got her butt kicked“ by Drew or one of the others for 2 hours. Plus twice a week she goes to the range to practice archery and shooting. Chloe proves to be a natural at both!!!
Part 2 also introduces Chloe more to the other hunters of the village (actually it‘s a city) where they live together away from others unlike them, keeping their secrets and roles unknown. What brings them all together, is their mutual responsibilities to protect humans from the vampires who would try to kill or turn them.
Author Jennifer Malone Wright continues to keep this series rolling along at a mesmerizing pace, one that has each part in my opinion better than the last installment!!!
I have absolutely loved it… although each have fascinating aspects and all full of an ongoing suspense, there’s just something more intriguing to this installment that makes it stand out from the previous ones so far….
Chloe is going through so much turmoil inside, anger is at the forefront after the village is attacked. Some of her vampire hunter family are killed, and many others injured: her Grandpa Luke is pretty seriously injured. Chloe feels responsible for whats been happening, because it’s her own father who keeps sending vampires to capture her, to try and take her to him and away from those who fight to protect her at all costs.
Theres a New Years eve party on the horizon, and yes Chloe has a date… with the most popular guy at her school!!! You guessed it, this isn’t sitting to well with Drew by no means… I’m not going to give away any more of the story, this is a series that you must take the time to enjoy and grow to love on your own…. Sorry, so if you are already reading this story, keep reading on, and if you haven’t started reading it yet I have to ask you one question, why not? The next part/installment is even better.
And once again as I always seen to do, I have found myself picking or teaming up pairs in this series too.
As Chloe and the community are now trying to gather their strength from injuries, deal with the loss of some of their hunters, and pull it all back together after the vampire attack on them Chloe and Drew are more at odds with each other, the more they try to get along the more they seem to fight- tensions are running very high.
The New Year’s party doesn’t help take her mind off of things… her mind is more eager to come up with plans to vanquish the vampires, all of them including the main one behind all the attacks, her father Trevor!!!
Drastic changes are on the horizon for Chloe, what will she do???? How can she stop all the madness of the attacks against her and those she loves and cares about?? What is the connection and similarities that bug Chloe? That she sees in Gavin and Drew? Questions, yes I know!!! But they will remain unanswered by me, because you really need to grab onto this series of short stories… cliffhangers at the end of each one will have you definitely going right to the next one. (-:
As I carry on eagerly jumping into part 5 of this amazing storyline. “Living with Vampires” here I come. Author Jennifer Malone Wright is definitely at it again, keeping us coming back for more with this installment of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter. Very nicely done I might add too.
I refuse to let this series end!!! *takes a deep breath* this installment is going to be so hard not to give to many spoilers away…. Ughhhh
So much is happening in this installment, covering a longer time frame, but if I were Chloe it would feel one heck of a lot longer!!!!
Chloe is no longer living in the vampire hunter community…. Nope, she’s living with her father, Trevor!!! Talk about a complete flip around. But she’s living there for a reason; to get revenge against her father for the attack against the village and those she loves. And for the murder of her mother. Revenge she WILL have and get.. *nods head* (Get him Chloe)
As the characters continue to grow, we are acquainted to new ones. (yayyy)
Secrets about Chloe are unveiled. How she manages from going insane or crazy is beyond me. Boy, there are some doozies of twists and turns, lots of evil-mean vampires, triumphs and so so much more!!! I’m off to part 6 (Arcadia Falls) now. *whistles a happy tune *
Nope, Nope, Nope I still refuse to accept that this is the last installment in The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter series )-: The only comfort in all this is knowing that “The Arcadia Falls Chronicles” is soon to be on it’s way for all of us to follow, where The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter has ended….
So with that being said, we continue. Close one book and open the next.. In this installment Chloe attempts her escape from the clutches of her father. Will she and her friends successfully pull it off?? *bites her tongue* no I won’t tell you what happens *insert cheesy angelic grin*
Chloe also finally chooses between her two guys, Gavin and Drew!!! Hummmm which will it be?? And you guessed it, I’m not going to tell you the answer to this one either. *flutterz wingz*
Ah yes, then there’s the question still remaining about Gavin and Drew along with a new one… have they been able to resolve the differences between them??? Yes, another unanswered question from me.
Chloe continues to grow in her character, but most importantly she continues to grow and mature as a vampire hunter. One with powers unlike no other!!!! Her Destiny awaits her.
Thank you so much Author Jennifer Malone Wright for this spectacular, gripping, action packed series that you have created for all of us to enjoy. I eagerly look forward to the next series that you have in the works for us… “The Arcadia Falls Chronicles” *angel hugz*
I was given this book in return for an honest review. This volume includes all 6 of the short stories and reads like a novel. Loved it. Chloe is a teen who, through the murder of her mother, finds out she is a hybrid of a vampire hunter and a vampire. She goes to live in the vampire hunter community with her grandfather and starts to train as a hunter. Chloe begins learning about her heritage on both sides and finds that she is very good an some things and needs to train extra on others. As the story unfolds, she finds that she has some very rara gifts. After an attack on the vampire hunter community, Chloe goes to live with her father in order to protect her grandfather. It's no so bad at first and she makes a couple of friends, but it quickly goes south. She is rescued by some old and new friends and during a battle to escape, someone is killed. Throughout the story Chloe is discovering new things and new powers. Once back in the vampire hunter community, a love story begins to unfold and also a new war is coming. All of her friends will play a roll in the war, old and new, they will have to train hard to learn how to access all of their powers. This story is not over and I can't wait for the next one.
The Vampire Hunter's Daughter: Complete Collection is a collection of 6 novellas that revolve around a teen girl named Chloe. She witnesses her mother's murder, and is rescued by a group of vampire hunters. She learns that her mother was a vampire hunter, and she finds out that she is part vampire hunter too.
This is a pretty fast paced story with lots of action/adventure. Chloe is a very strong spirited girl. She deals with her mothers death very well, and she adapts well to her new life. There is a little bit of romance involved, and a bit of a love triangle. I liked the interaction between Chloe and Drew and hope to see more of them as a couple in the Arcadia Falls series that the author is working on. The romance scenes are very tame so this book would be good for readers of any age.
This is a quick read, but it spans about 1 ½ years. Chloe is 14 when the book starts, and 16 when it ends. The story flows smoothly though and is well written. There are some interesting twists and turns in the second half that make it a fun read. I'd recommend this to those who like young adult paranormal books.
I loved this series because I was lucky enough to discover it 6 books in and it made me feel like I was living in a weekly HBO show without having to desperately wait a week in between each book/storyline.
The characters are great, the history and story of Chloe and her family issues is well told and her brewing relationships with Drew and Gavin make for fun drama. Must say that Trevor is really dark and evil ~ more so than I anticipated and that was a surprise, a good one!
Highly recommend this series and this author - it would appear that there is room for book 7 - I hope so!
I was hooked from the very beginning and had to finish it in one sitting. These are relatively short books and I wished that they were longer, but neither the characters or story line suffer from it. I love the depth of the characters, especially Chloe who has to deal with not only being a teenager, but having her whole life turned upside down.
This is a must read for any paranormal fan and a great way to get a younger reader (tween or early teen) interested in the paranormal.
Ebook: The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter Author : Jennifer Malone-Wright Fiction, Paranormal, This review may contain spoilers I got this from the author to review Summary: This special edition of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter contains parts I-VI, the complete collection. The Review WOW, I loved this book, I read the first as a freebie on Amazon, I was hooked, then I got it for review purposes, I loved the whole collection, The fact that Jennifer has put them all out separately is something new to me, but it works brilliantly, What a great idea, but as a whole collection it works too, it is just fantastic, The writing made me feel like I was actually there, I love when a book does that, You can imagine the characters stood in front of you, working their way through the book, I loved the world that Jennifer created, I laughed, I cried, there was some romance, what more do you want in a book, I don’t usually like the villain, but strangely enough I kind of liked him in this, he was just this side of crazy and you could sort of understand why he would do what he wants to do, because of the problem he faced, I am Sorry but don’t want to give anything away, but still he was a little bit insane, I adored the relationship Chloe had with everyone in this book, especially Drew, I loved Drew from the start, I would highly recommend this book to all, 5/5
MY REVIEW I received PT 1 of this e-book complete collection directly from the author sometime ago but never had the chance to read it. So when Roxanne of Bewitching Blog Tours told me about the blog tour I decided it was about time I read this book. Initially I planned on just read and reviewing PT1, but I have to say it is quite addictive and I wanted to know more so I ended up reading the collection! So we find out that Felicia (Chloe's mum) was once a Vampire hunter. The scene/plot begins with Chloe thinking she is dreaming, but in actual fact its her mum shaking her awake. Then some men burst in and end up killing Felicia. Chloe is a witness to this and though she fights as hard as she can, she cannot prevent them killing her mum. Then as the men are exiting the building with her some other men appear and a fight ensues. Is Chloe being rescued? Who are these men? In all this action and the trauma Chloe has been through causes her to black out. When she wakes, she is in a bed that certainly isn't her own with people she doesn't know. However it seems that she is related to the old man who owns the house. Her life is about to change completely as she learns she is the daughter of a Vampire and Vampire Hunter romance. We follow the story as the vampires try to kidnap Chloe. Chloe has some difficult decisions to make, should she stay and train and fight or maybe she should sacrifice herself for the good of the others? Which is the right decision to make? Then there's the romance triangle, Gavin is a hot guy but what are the weird feelings Chloe has for Drew? Which "Team" will you be on? Team Gavin? or Team Drew? I could really go on and on The book is fairly simplistically written, its at a decent pace that you don't need to struggle to keep up with the plot. Everything is explained as you read along. It's a really good series. Did I enjoy it? Yes, it was good as you could read it in "bite size" installments. Each novella/part set the scene for the rest of the collection. Would I recommend it? Yes, Would I like to read more about The Vampire Hunter's Daughter? Yes. Would I read more by Jennifer Malone Wright? Yes, I intend doing so.
Reading The Vampires hunter's Daughter will not leaving you disappointed in the least, this story constantly keeps you captivated. There is not a dull moment while Chloe is constantly fighting for her life and the others around her. You go on this amazing ride with her and you can't help but to get caught up in all the action and suspense with Chloe. I highly recommend this book to any one who is a Vampire lover.
After Chloe witnesses her mother being murder at the hands of Vampire's, she is swept away by rescuers, one of them being Drew, into a world she never knew existed of Vampire Hunter's. She soon finds out her mother was apart of this world years ago but left to keep Chloe safe. Chloe soon finds out that not only did she come from a blood line of Vampire Hunter's but she also came from the line of Vampire's.
Chloe's father is a Vampire and has set out to capture her at all cost, in fact he is the one responsible for the murder of Chloe's mother. Now Chloe is with her grandfather, Luke, and Drew and is training to be a Vampire Hunter. Now Chloe has her sights set to avenge the death of her mother.
Drew trains Chloe day after day but soon the Vampire's attack and capture Chloe and bring her to live with her father. She soon finds out her father doesn't really want her nor does he care for her, he only wants her for one thing...her blood. Because she has the blood of a vampire and a vampire hunter, she can give a vampire what they most desire but that means her death. She fights to escape before her 16 birthday because its on that day and that day alone can she give him want he wants.
Drew is the one who comes to her rescue again, and she soon finds herself in a love triangle between him and his half brother Gavin. Now she needs not only to try and escape her fathers clutches and keep herself protected but to also decide who it is she really wants to be with.
I liked this book. I am not quite sure who it is marketed towards, but I am guessing YA. The six novellas combined make a total of 217 pages, so it is a pretty quick read. The book moves along very quickly, starting when Chloe is 14 and knows nothing of her heritage. It ends about a year and a half later. Chloe seems very mature for her age and handles the death of her mother very well. As she begins to learn more about her vampire hunter bloodline that she got from her mother, she also discovers that she descends from others that are powerful in other ways as well.
As she matures, she starts to get some of her powers in - they are pretty cool powers too, and her mixed bloodlines does have some benefits. Since her mother was murdered, she is living with her grandfather, Luke, who seems like a tough old guy - (for some reason I kept picturing the old guy from the original Karate Kid) and Drew, an 18 yo who helps her grandpa out as he is getting older. Drew is responsible for helping to train Chloe and teach her about being a vampire hunter.
This was a pretty typical vampire story, with them not being able to go out in the sunlight and silver being able to hold vampires, but it did have some interesting additions to the weapons and the myths. There were also some cool people who decided from some cool gods and goddesses, so that gave the characters some nice history.
If you are into vampire stories, you would probably like this one. It is going to continue in The Arcadia Falls Chronicles series. The volume contained all 6 novellas.
"Only the living can kill the dead." - Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012 film)
in one tragic moment, Chloe Kallistrate loses the only person most precious to her. with her mother's murder behind her, she is taken away to live with her grandfather with whom she begins her life anew in a small community of vampire hunters. author Jennifer Malone Wright has written an interesting tale of a teen vampire hunter and how she deals with her personal tragedy. i like how each of the parts that make up the collection end with a cliffhanger. this piques the reader's curiosity to find out what happens next. moreover, the story is very straight-forward and devoid of superfluous details making it a fast-paced read. there was only one particular scene which i found to be too convenient towards the latter part of the book when Chloe attempts an escape. i had a hard time getting convinced about how easy it was and how Chloe managed it despite the 24/7 security surrounding her. overall, i did enjoy the book and learned to admire Chloe for her resilience. i also find it wholesome enough to be suitable for younger readers.
WOW! I could not put these books down!! Great writing, great plot, the story had a good flow to it with no down time between scenes. The only downfall is the stories weren't long enough! I want more and can't wait until the continuation of this series, The Arcadia Falls Chronicles, come out! Please hurry Jennifer!!
"Welcome to Arcadia Falls this is where the vampire hunters live." After everything that Chloe learned in life, it all changed after what happened to her mother. She finally meets Trevor her father(& vampire). When she finds out what he has planned things start getting hectic trying to save her friends & herself. Once she`s away from Trevor she goes back to make her life in Arcadia Falls with her friends & grandfather. This is an awesome series.
Overall, it was ok series. I didn't really like this being split into 6 different parts but reading them sequentially made it flow better. This needed to be edited better. I really have no patience for books I have to pay for that have mistakes in them. It is not acceptable. Overall I liked the story and the revenge that drove Chloe to be good at what she is. However I thought there was a lot of filler in this series. Sometimes events felt a bit choppy because there was more description in the filler "teenagery" sections than in the action and vampire parts. Overall I liked it and I give it 3 stars but I expected it to be better based on what I've heard about it on around the web.
I really enjoyed this series, however when I got to the last book I felt as if it was incomplete. Will there be anymore books in this series? I would like to see at least one more to give the story either continuation or completion
The Vampire Hunter's Daughter is a single novel, written in six distinct parts. The collection contains all six of the parts of this unique and intriguing story.
Chloe is a dynamic girl who has been protected by her mother her whole life. When faced with her true nature, who she really is, who her parents are/were, she is faced with some tough decisions. She is rescued from vengeful vampires by a small group of men knows as Vampire Hunters. She is taken to meet the grandfather she never knew - the father of her mother; where she is confronted by the fact of her parentage. Her father is a Vampire, and her mother was a strong Vampire Hunter.
Chloe is rare being the offspring of both a powerful Vampire and a powerful Hunter - and her father is very determined to get her, no matter how many of her new friends he has to have killed to get her. His reasons being unclear as to why he truly wants her, she goes to him to hopefully save her friends from being killed by other vampires.
Her adventure is unique and deadly. This story is full of danger, life and death struggles, coming of age, and learning to trust and love. Chloe is a likeable character, and her friends are both likable and frustrating at the same time. I enjoyed this story and would love to read more. I don't think I would have liked it as much if I would have had to read it in individual parts. It definitely makes more sense and flows much better as a whole novel.
I'd read VHD part one a while back, but re-read alongside the rest of this whole wonderful collection. The 'parts' simply go from strength to strength and completely work as a whole read. I much preferred it this way.
The author, Jennifer Malone Wright, captures Chloe's character beautifully. She's a character that I believed in and had empathy for. Her character development alongside her character's journey is well crafted and finely tuned to create a strong female protagonist.
I was completely caught unaware by some of the plot development, and applaud Jennifer Malone Wright for having the ability to keep me on my toes. She weaves the character relationships along with the almost palpable action with expertise. The writing flows smoothly with appropriate peaks of tension.
I was left eager to continue Chloe's journey in her new adventure in 'ARCADIA FALLS'. I can not wait to read.
I was lucky to have won a print copy of The Complete Collection Edition of The Vampire Hunter's Daughter.
Chloe witnesses her mother being murdered by a vampire. Chloe is in complete shock, between witnessing this tragedy and finding out that vampires are real. Before the vampires are able to get their hands on Chloe, a group of vampire hunters rush in an rescue her and take her back to their community. Chloe learns that one of the hunters is her grandfather, that she never knew about until now. She thought that being a normal teenager was tough, until she finds out that she far from normal. She learns that her mother was a vampire hunter and that the hunter gene runs through her blood. Lots more secrets are revealed as Chloe sets on the mission to avenge her mothers death.
A great read. I was hooked from the beginning. Can't wait to read more by this author.

Chloe Kallistrate has spent her entire life sheltered by her mother. She's been told it's for her protection, to keep her out of harm's way from those who seek to do them harm. Yet she's unable to fathom as to why she really needs the extra protection in the first place. Granted, there are things that go bump in the night, things that her young mind can only imagine. But that doesn't really merit keeping her hidden from the world outside, does it?
When her mother is unexpectedly murdered before her very eyes, Chloe begins to realize that there's a lot that her mother never told her, like the fact that she's now become a part of a family that she knew nothing about it. While her curiosity does get the best of her, she's unable to make sense of the fact that her mother's kept so many things from her for so long. Her family, the truth about her father, and the fact that he's a vampire is something she knows will take her awhile to come to terms with.
She knows that if she's to take revenge upon the people who hurt her and took her mother away from her, she'll need to take the time to learn everything her mother refused to teach her from the get-go. Doing so, unfortunately, won't be easy. She's a slew of history to catch up on, weapons that she'll need to learn to wield, not to mention that she'll need to learn the proper art of defending herself. Never-the-less, she's determined to learn and make the most of the situation at hand in hopes of making her father pay for the pain and heartache he's caused her.
A subsequent attack on the village she lives in lands her smack dab within her father's hands, something she detests with every bone in her body. She wants to make him pay, to see his blood spread across the ground she walks upon. Yet she never expected the man who's caused her so much misery to treat her as if she's the one thing he can't do without. Everything she's been told about him doesn't correlate with what she's experienced so far. He's not the cold and callous man she's always thought him to be, a certainty that further fuels her turmoil. Little does she know, appearances are definitely deceiving.
When the truth about her true purpose comes to light, Chloe isn't sure as to what to make of it all. Her father is keeping her prisoner in hopes of gaining an ends to his own means, yet she refuses to give him the satisfaction of achieving those very goals. In her eyes, he's undeserving and needs to pay for his indiscretions. Somehow, some way, she's going to make sure he gets his due. But first, she'll need to find a way to gain her freedom if she's to ensure that he never hurts another person in the long run.
It was quite intriguing to finally read the rest of Chloe's story. To see her grow and come to terms with who and what she is. Her strengthens and vulnerabilities are endearing and at times, I found myself cheering for her as she tries to overcome so many adversities. She has to deal with so much pain and heartache, so many lies and truths that she's no longer sure as to what is up and what is down. I definitely enjoyed the story very much and look forward to what comes next for the series.
I won this a while ago and for the life of me can’t remember where I won it from. I want to thank them and the author for a signed edition of this collection. I’ve read it twice!
My Review
Chloe is awakened in the middle of the night when they come for her mother.
She barely has time to accept they’re vampires before her mother is viciously murdered before her eyes.
Before they can whisk Chloe away, vampire hunters crash the scene and rescue her. She’s taken to live with her grandfather, Luke, and 18 year old Drew, another hunter. They have a gated community where they live and train as hunters. It’s like their own private town.
That’s when 14-year-old Chloe finds out she’s descended from a long line of hunters, her mother being a very powerful one. But they hadn’t attacked to get her mother. They’d been coming for Chloe, and when she discovers who her father is, her thirst for revenge becomes her greatest priority.
You spend over a year with Chloe, as she trains and studies and trains some more.
There are two young men that she attracts. Drew, who lives with her grandfather. He’s belligerent, but inside he’s worried about her and tries to toughen her up for her own safety. And Gavin, the school’s heart throb, wants to get to know her better. It’s not really a love triangle and the romance fleshes out the story without being the focal point.
Everything seems to be rushing towards Chloe’s sixteenth birthday. Why does her father need her? What special ability will she get?
Chloe comes across as genuine. She’s becoming a young woman, brushing up against romance, training to defend her very life, and coping with the loss of her mother. She’s forced to grow up fast and think on the run.
I’m tempted to call this collection a serial. There are 6 stories in all, and each picks up where the last one left off, like episodes. They are not overly long, which makes for quick reading, there are no information gaps, and the colorful secondary characters are easy to remember.
This is a clean young adult read. The romance is sweet with no sexual content.
I’d recommend you buy the complete set. You’ll breeze through these in no time and at $4.99 ebook and $8.99 for print, they’re a steal!
I hear there’s to be more about Chloe in The Arcadia Falls Series. I’m looking forward to more.
A couple of fun things.
With everyone being hunters, there favorite gifts to give and receive are weapons. Can you picture Chloe’s pink handled handgun?
And did you know vampires go to the dentist. Yep. When they need help with their fangs, they go to Deadly Smiles.
Why oh why did I wait so long to read this collection?! I've had it for several months now and decided to jump at the chance to review it for a tour. This story is a refreshing change from the usual YA paranormal novels out today. Don't get me wrong, I love my YA books, but this was fantastic. I find that some YA novels feel a little "too old" for younger teens. This book is perfect for teens of all ages and adults alike.
The story begins with Chloe's mother being murdered by a bunch of vamps. She's thrown into a world of vampires and hunters. Her mother hid her from her father, a vampire, for her entire life. Starting her life over with the hunters has been quite a challenge for her. Chloe moves in with her grandfather she didn't know and another trainer named Drew. Training doesn't come easy to her and she starts to develop special powers. Her father tries sending more vampires to take Chloe again. I'll stop there as to not spoil the story.
This was my first time reading a serial novel. I'd have to say that I enjoyed it immensely. If I were to read these parts separately and had to wait for the next, I would be out of my mind. Chloe wasn't an annoying little teenage girl. She had this spunk and defiance to her and I loved it. Chloe eventually polishes some of her skills and powers. There was a little bit of romance but it was appropriate. I was intrigued even more after ever part of the collection but felt like there were a few things missing. I was very excited to learn that there will be another series featuring Chloe. I'm super excited to read more about her and hopefully get some resolve with my unanswered questions.
This is a great series for ages 13 and up. I read the first book and purchased the second before realizing I could purchase the whole series in one fell swoop in this collection! I'm looking forward to The Arcadia Falls Chronicles and hope they'll be available soon.
Anyway, here is the Goodreads synopsis for The Vampire Hunter's Daughter:

When Chloe wakes, she comes face to face with the only other living relative, besides her mother, whom she has ever met: her grandfather. Experience the world of vampires hunter’s, vampires and mythology with Chloe in this exciting series.
'The Vampire Hunter's Daughter: Complete Collection' is the entire collection of short young adult paranormal stories that follow the main character, Chloe, a 14-year-old girl who discovers that she is the daughter of a vampire and a renowned vampire hunter. Along with her grandfather and the gang of other vampire hunters who have taken her in, Chloe is determined to reveal the secrets of her family and to destroy the vampire who is responsible for her mother's murder.
These stories are full of great vampire mythology and also incorporates interesting tales and legends of vampire hunters. It's a unique concept and I enjoyed learning the history and background of all those involved. The plot is decently written, but was somewhat cliched. The characters were also cliched and the dialogue seemed fake in several instances, which diverted my attention away from the storyline and made me lose interest. The book is full of action, which keeps it fast paced and enjoyable. There is some romance involved, but I didn't feel that it took away from the main focus of the narrative. Overall, this was a good collection of stories and fans of YA paranormal fiction will enjoy following Chloe's quest.
Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
