Pseudonym of Michel Regnier, who also published as Michel Denys and Louis Albert. He legally changed his name to Michel Greg in 1975.

The series for which Greg is best known, Achille Talon, began in 1963 in Pilote magazine, also the source of comics such as Asterix. Regnier became editor-in-chief of Tintin magazine in 1966 and remained so until 1974. He introduced a more adult genre, with less perfect heroes and more violence. He created some of his most famous series like Bruno Brazil and Bernard Prince in this period, and introduced artists like Hermann to the magazine. In 1975 he became literary director for the French publisher Dargaud and launched Achille Talon magazine.
As "Greg", Regnier was one of the most prolific creators of Franco-Belgian comics, working in all genres and collaborating with many other European artists and scriptwriters. Well known for working with artist Hermann, Greg also worked with André Franquin, Eddy Paape (Luc Orient), Dany, Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny, and many others. It is estimated that he contributed as a writer and an artist to some 250 comic albums.
Hergé asked him to remake two of The Adventures of Tintin — The Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun — into a script for one long animated movie, Tintin and the Temple of the Sun. He also wrote the script for Tintin and the Lake of Sharks.

Tintin et le Lac Aux Requins = Tintin and the Lake of Sharks (The Adventures of Tintin), Michel Regnier, Hergé

Tintin and the Lake of Sharks is a 1972 animated film based on The Adventures of Tintin, directed by Raymond Leblanc. It was not written by Hergé (who merely supervised), but by the Belgian comics creator Greg (Michel Regnier), a friend of Hergé. It was later adapted into a comic book with still images from the film used as illustrations.

Originally known as Tintin et le Lac aux Requins, based on the Tintin animated film, directed by Raymond LeBlanc (1972).
The world's biggest pearl is stolen from the Museum of Oceanography.
Meanwhile Tintin and Captain Haddock arrive at Klow airport in Syldavia , on a visit to see Professor Calculus at Villa Sprog on the mysterious Lake Pollishoff.Tintin makes friends with two Syldavian children , Niko and Nushka who rescue Tintin and the Captain from a plane crash. The Professor has invented a machine that can reproduce objects.Rastapopulous want to get his hands on the Professor's machine , and kidnaps Niko and Nushka.
On the trail to rescue the kids , Tintin end up discovering a large criminal gang at the base of the bottom of the lake , ruled by Tintin's old nemesis Rastapopulous. Rastapopulous tries to drown Tintin , Niko and Nushka , but with the help of the Captain , Snowy , Niko and Nushka's dog Gustav , the Syldavian police and the Thompson twins , the day is saved and Rastapopulous and his gang are brought to justice.
I liked the way the characters where superimposed on the realistic background , which beautifully recreates the fictional Balkan country of Syldavia.

Clearly, we are missing Hergé a great lot here! In every page of the book, I missed him. And I dunno how Tintin came to be tied in the pipe, when he was walking with Rastapopulous, I really don't! Nonetheless, despite missing Hergé, this is a decent make.

NEW REVIEW TO COME UPON REREAD

Vuonna 1972 ilmestyneen Tintti-animaatioleffan pohjalta väsätty sarjakuva-albumi, jossa on käytetty filmistä suoraan otettuja ruutuja kuvituksena. Ei tätä voi suositella muille kuin keräilijöille.

The book was fun, lots of danger and explosions. In this book Tintin successfully lands a plane that was certain to crash, finds some treasure, locates the bad guys, has a few fights (wins some, loses some), gets in a situation where a bomb is gonna go off but he is trapped, he escapes of course and then nearly drowns before a finally boat chase.

All that action is fun but it has been crammed into only 44 pages and it feels rushed at times. Shame really, might have been better if more care was taken with building on the story.

Is there someone left who hasn’t read this book? If there are such readers, then my humble advice: PLEASE read this book, ASAP. It’s not only witty and colourful. It also provides for lots of adventure and climatic showdown with Tintin's archenemy.
Highly Recommended.

The Lake of Sharks was a 1972 animated film, and later adapted into a comic book with still images from the film used as illustrations. It is very apparent while reading because it does not "feel" like a comic book. Decent plot without the Hergé touch (who merely supervised on the script).

Tintin and the Lake of Sharks is widely famous as an animated film than a comic book. Being written by Hergé's friend Greg, the story presents the other side of the same coin.

Although the presentation is based on the previous comic books and its characters and is considered as a part of the Tintin series, we get to see quite a lot of changes in the narration and portrayal of the characters. Tintin especially is shown wearing full pants, giving audiences an idea of the time passed since the previous books came out which were shown to be in a floating timeline.

However, the story catches up with the series by bringing back in the most popular villain, Rastapopulous, and giving a hearty conclusion to the readers who were waiting to know what happened to him.

The plot of the story is unique and takes you on yet another adventure with your favorite reporter. The story and its conclusion allows you to exclude the script's weak commitment and enjoy the last few bits with Tintin and his team.

As with the remainder of the Tintin stories, I read them years ago but am now just adding them to Goodreads.

This one wasn't written by Hergé and is the book based on the film of the same name. It differs a little from the film, but in the main, this is a decent addition to the Tintin canon - at least I think so. The basic nature of the characters is still there, and it's not that much of a departure from what Hergé himself may have written.

The underlying plot doesn't hold up to as much scrutiny however, but it's all good fun.

Was good, but not great. General feel of characters captured, but not quite the same as if Herge himself had done it I feel. Book also a bit shorter than the normal ones, so felt a bit rushed - and quite a bit captured in brief headings to explain what was going on, rather than the panels showing it. I know that this will be due to it being based off the film, and I will try and watch the film at some point, but after recently reading other Tintin comic books, just not at the same level.

Don't know what happened to this book. It lacks the wonders of Tintin. I remember when I read it, I was about 18, and tried so hard to like it, but instead left panicked.

Kok berasa belum pernah dengar seri ini. Setelah dicek ternyata memang bukan original karya Herge.

¿Habéis leído y disfrutado a Tintín… ‘’rayos y centellas’’?

This comic is based on the Tintin movie of the same name and being not a Herge original can be considered as a standalone. It is even shorter than the rest being only 44 pages and a pleasant read. It begins with a robbery in the museum of oceanography in the dead of night but there is a twist as the thieves replace the original with a copy and escape. The next scene takes us to Tintin, Snowy and Haddock who are on their way to Syldavia to visit Calculus who is working on a project which will be of interest to the forgers.

Most of the Tintin stories begin with the activities of Tintin but the story here begins with the crime itself. The mention of Mata Hari (spy in World War 1) does ring some bells in the context of the story.

Tintin's cleverness again saves the day with Castafiore, the Thompsons, Calculus , Haddock and the other two children in the cover shining in their own way. The cover itself is self-explainatory since the lake is the abode of the offenders. Not a very adventurous story but magnificent in its own way.

There is a stark irony in the construction of the lake (yes it's artificial) as it took the lives of thousands of people drowning their homes with it.

Boy this this one weak. I haven't seen the movie, but if I had to guess, the dialogue was lifted directly from the film with no thought as to how it would translate to the page. Maybe that's why there is no author listed on the book. Also there is very clunky expository text at the top of most frames, most of which just describes what is being shown. While I am not the biggest fan of Hergé's storytelling and identify a lot of problematic elements in the stories, this book makes it very clear that he had a solid understanding of the format of the graphic novel in moving a story along and showing action. Not recommended for anyone but Tintin completionists.

Found this in a comic shop in Victoria, B.C., and was astonished to see a new-to-me Tintin adventure. Turns out to be a comic book adaptation of a 1972 animated film, making it a further adventure outside the Tintin canon (and, apparently, with no Herge authorship beyond creation of the characters). Nonetheless, it's a solid mystery/adventure story, with plenty of action, humor, and appearances from most of the series regulars. It does lack the sumptuously detailed visuals of the best Tintin books, as well as the imagination stirring exoticism of a journey to a real-life location. It has the basic words and grammar down, but could use much more accent.
