Goethe took great interest in the literatures of England, France, Italy, classical Greece, Persia, and Arabia and originated the concept of Weltliteratur ("world literature"). Despite his major, virtually immeasurable influence on German philosophy especially on the generation of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph von Schelling, he expressly and decidedly refrained from practicing philosophy in the rarefied sense.
Influence spread across Europe, and for the next century, his works inspired much music, drama, poetry and philosophy. Many persons consider Goethe the most important writer in the German language and one of the most important thinkers in western culture as well. Early in his career, however, he wondered about painting, perhaps his true vocation; late in his life, he expressed the expectation that people ultimately would remember his work in optics.

a short story fantasy/horror about a man falling in love with a pixie. goethe could write about paint drying and i’d potentially give it five stars.

I would have to classify this more as a Fantasy story than Horror or Gothic. It's one of the kind of stories best told among friends during cold winter nights as a form of light entertainment.

Otsustasin lugeda läbi raamatu, mis on lapsepõlvest saadik mu raamaturiiulis seisnud ja mida olen korduvalt käes hoidnud, kuid alati lugemist tulevikku lükanud.
See oli jutt mehest, kes leiab endale tüdruksõbra, kes juhtumisi on päkapikk.
Peategelane oli impulsiivse iseloomuga (eriti kui ta oli alkoholijoobes, mida juhtus sageli), ebausaldusväärne, ebalojaalne ja elatus oma naise varast (sealjuures oli ta ka tänamatu ja läks vihaseks, kui raha ei saanud). Mingit tendentsi endale ise elatist teenida ei märganud, teda huvitasid rohkem peod. Üsna ebasümpaatne.
Lugu ise on üsna huvitav, kuid paratamatult tekkis loo arenedes küsimus, mida päkapikust tüdruksõber selles päevavargas küll nägi. Miks ta seda janti nii pikalt talus?
Aga eks see ole midagi elust.
