Karla grew up in a small town on the north shore of Lake Erie. She trained and worked in the fashion industry for over two decades, before embracing the writing muse. When she's not writing romance, Karla loves spending time with her family, friends, and pets, reading romance novels, and playing online Scrabble.
Such a fun, sweet and spicy monster romance set in a small town full of monsters. I lived the setup and the world building really made me want to read about other residents meeting getting their HEA. The whole snake-man monster thing was quite interesting and fin to read about ad well as the backstory.
Not safe in my opinion, way too much description of the H sex life and OW drama....this book is a mess, if you want romance with no OW, love and no man whore hero, find another book. No cheating limited experienced h celibate for 3 years very experienced, man whore H, celibate (for maybe a year) OW drama (reason why it is not safe for me and maybe others). Cora interviewed Jenni, as siren who happens to be one of the women LeRoy had sex with. She goes up to him telling him she wants to ride his green eyed monster again and calling him lover. Jenni then slaps his ass after saying she wants to ride him again, all that in front of Cora. When they get in the car, Leroy tells Cora they never were in relationship it was just sex (like that makes a difference). Of course Cora did not like that at all. That scene was a HUGE turn off for me. WHY DID HE BRING CORA TO INTERVIEW HIS EX/ FORMER HOOKUP?? He also says that he was sick of sex without a relationship, that he wanted more....I call bullshit because he clearly enjoys the sex, so he can stop this sob story, poor little man whore wants more than getting his dick wet, but still loves getting his dick wet....*eye roll*. PLEASE! Who the hell is this author kidding?? And Cora says, well then you wanted a relationship with Jenni, and he says not her specifically. SO why did he have sex with these women for over 20 years? Is it for the sex and giving pleasure (like he said), or in hopes of a relationship he desperately wanted with these women, that he now says he never wanted until Cora? Author......MAKE UP YOUR MIND!! Well at least now we know both the author of this story and the hero are both full of shit. With that in mind, moving on..... Leroy for the first half of the book is trying to distance himself from Cora, since she is afraid of snakes and passed out when she met him. He is the owner of the motel and she a journalist assigned to write a positive article on the citizens of screaming woods. This book is littered with Leroy's sex life and him describing, how easy it is for him to get a woman in bed when he feels like fucking. When he gets the urge he finds a woman easily and fucks, until the past year. If he didn't talk about that, his inner monologue is how Cora is afraid of snakes so it's not worth going after her and pursuing her, that it will never happen between the two of them. There is too much OW talk, it is made my blood boil. He tells Cora that some women he fucked liked being bitten and he likes giving pleasure, what that includes is different for every woman. I am sure she enjoyed hearing the details of his sex life as much as I did. I read the rest with a grimace on my face and no enjoyment. He gives up on her WAY too easily, when she asks what he eats, he says all his food is raw and when she says, 'like sushi'? He knew that it was over before it even started. What a weak little bitch! SHE is the one to pursue him. Why? I don't know, Cora should have run for the hills after he introduces her to one of the women he used to fuck! I gave up on any romance in this shit storm of a story, but I kept reading to see the sex scene and what his dick looks like. It's all this book is good for. Oh, just so you can save yourself the trouble, he has two green dicks the shafts textured with scales, and the head looks like serpent heads. There. Saved you the time and the trouble. The sex scene was just ok, she deep throats, he goes down on her with his snake tongue, she has both dicks in her ass and pussy at the same time and that's about it. To be fair, Cora also wanted to compare her having sex with Leroy to the other men she had, and even though her experience is limited, its still an OM comparison, like how she couldn't remember how the other men's dick tasted when giving them a blowjob. This book is already shit, why not add more shit to the pile. The kicker, after all the blood boiling mess that is this unromantic story, the H says the past doesn't matter, the other women don't matter, it is only her from now on. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That does NOT magically erase his past. That ship has sailed! Cora agrees because.....well I think two dicks did the reasoning for her. When they have sex he says I love you and that he fell in love when he first saw her. Really?? REALLY?? That is what a man does to a woman he falls in love with...arrange a meeting with last woman he fucked a year ago that he describes as beautiful. *gag* After that its a bunch of 'I love you', bla bla 'be here with me', 'I never loved anyone but you', bla bla 'to me there is no one else', bla bla bla...*cough* BULLSHIT *cough* I don't believe in a single word of love from him. I am done, this author disgusted me! Karla Doyle likes her man whore heroes, detailing their sex life with other women and having the heroine not only hear about it, but meet the women he fucked and since that is her idea of romance, it is a hard pass for me. I am going to avoid this author like all the STDs I imagine the H having.
A human reporter who is kind of afraid of snakes is rolling into Screaming Woods to write an article on the monsters in the town. The owner of the local motel (the one where she's staying) happens to be a snake man. Which makes things a little awkward at their first meeting. You know, because fainting in fright at someone is a tough thing to get past.
Actually, it's not all that tough. Leroy is pretty chill about it. After having been a monster for 20 years, he's used to being what he is. The only negative in the situation (from his standpoint) is that he REALLY wants to spend time with Cora and she's afraid of his snake-ish aspects.
BUT...but but but...Cora is also willing to face her fears. Things don't always work out the way she thinks they should have, but she keeps trying (well, after she got over that one rough encounter that made her want to run for the hills, that is) and it isn't long before Leroy's snakiness doesn't bother her in the slightest.
No lie, there are some part of his snakiness she REALLY enjoys. Yep, Leroy has it going on and Cora is down for that.
Monsters, mayhem, a little fear that needs to be overcome, and couple who end up very happy once all is said and done. *thumbs up*
Cora (h) is sent to stay in Screaming Woods for a few days as she interviews the town’s monsters for a magazine piece she’s working on. She’s faced with her greatest fear when she arrives at her motel and meets owner Leroy (H), a snake monster. He finds himself drawn to Cora and as she gets to know him, Cora comes to care for the man inside the monstrous appearance. Leroy is so patient and sweet with Cora as he persuades her to see the real him and not just his scales. Sweet romantic monster quickie with a side of steam!
This was wonderful. Karla Doyle has mad a snake man sexy as all get out. The characters are endearing and funny. The story is sweet and super steamy. This book is a win!

This is an OK paranormal romance, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3 stars.
First, it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I would have liked a little more backstory on both Cora and Leroy.
I also felt like the couple was more in lust than in love. They were definitely in lust, but they just didn't know each other well enough to be in love so quickly. I also didn't think Cora would have gotten over her terrible fear of snakes so quickly, either -- and I definitely think it would have bothered her to watch Leroy swallow his food whole.
Finally, there was a lot of sex in this story. I enjoy romantic sex scenes -- but these were pretty explicit, with a lot of dirty talk. I just didn't find them romantic at all.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
If you read Karla Doyle's contribution in the first round of Monster Between the Sheets, you should remember Leroy, the snake man who runs the hotel in Screaming Woods. Leroy may give off a happy and content vibe, but he's one of the loneliest monsters in Screaming Woods. Before he had all the company (of the opposite sex) a man could want, but Leroy wants more than a roll in the hay, he wants companionship and someone to love him beyond what he can give a woman between the sheets. So why is it he can't get the newest guest at the hotel out of his mind? She can't stand the sight of him and she passes out whenever she sees him, there is no future there...or is there? For Cora going to Screaming Woods is the chance to write more serious piece for the magazine she works for, bring on all the monsters she's not scared. At least until she's face to face with a snake man, who even after she insults by fainting on sight and asks if he can turn away from her, is still willing to help her. As time progresses and the more time Cora spends around Leroy she no longer notices his snake like exterior. She's getting to know the man underneath and falling in love with him.
I really loved Leroy and Cora. While Cora was a bit awkward, it's a loveable trait that made it all the more better to see her stepping out of her comfort zone. I loved that she also worked on herself and realized that while the town might be full of monsters, that all they appear to be. Underneath is what matters, and no matter what they look like there is are still humans wanting to be liked and loved.
I’m afraid of snakes myself, so I wondered what I would think of this romance. But I love Karla Doyle and I love the Monster Between the Sheets books so I had to give it a try. I am THRILLED that I did. The way that KD wrote Leroy, the snake-man, and Cora’s romance was nothing short of spectacular and I quickly fell in love. He’s everything I love in a book boyfriend with a long forked tongue and other snakelike features as a bonus.
I think I would have felt like Cora at meeting a snake-man and fainted. Not only is she an introverted home body but she’s terrified of snakes. Imagine meeting a man with the skin of a snake, a snake like head, and a forked tongue that darts out while talking. Luckily she gives Leroy a chance because he is fabulous! So kind and patient, with a pure heart, and a desire to make Cora happy above all else. I really enjoyed the story as a Cora started to become more comfortable and really embrace all things Leroy. The ending of this book was a chef’s kiss to the entire journey. I absolutely loved it and was so happy with its conclusion.

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. Magazine reporter Cora jumps at the chance to conduct interviews for an article- she just didn't realize she'd be interviewing actual monsters. She believed herself to have no fear of them until she tried to check in at the motel and came face to face with her fear of snakes in Leroy- who is a snake man. She faints on the spot and is embarrassed and ashamed of her poor reaction to him and tries to push her fears aside- knowing he's still just a man. I loved Leroy. He was very sweet, kind, and patient with her, and very understanding despite everything. By how remorseful she was, Cora won me over very quickly as well. I couldn't wait to see her acclimate to him and (hopefully) get over her fear of him and venture into the romance aspect of this story. Leroy was very attracted to her, and I couldn't wait for them to really get to know each other and fall in love. A wonderful read. 5 stars

Leroy (mmc, monster) Cora (mfc, human)
Twenty years or so ago, the town had a Halloween party that changed everyone's life. Some turned into literal monsters, and others were filled with dark magic. Most of the remaining humans fled town. Leroy was turned into a snake, along with a snake's *special* anatomy. When Cora's editor sends her to town to write a fluff piece to drum up tourism, and hopefully cut down on prejudice, she is wholly unprepared. She didn't fully comprehend what she was walking into and fainted at the sight of Leroy. How can she write her article if she can't handle even looking at the owner of the hotel she is staying at?
I was also unaware of a male snake's anatomy. I've learned more biology reading romance than I did in school.
It's been twenty years since Leroy drank a potion at a Halloween party leaving him a snake monster. Cora is in Screaming Woods to write a magazine article about the resident monsters and the first one she meets is Leroy. It turns out Cora has a fear of snakes so meeting Leroy was quite an experience. He is instantly drawn to her and the more time he spends with Cora she starts falling for him too. I don't like snakes but I absolutely loved Leroy and I was cheering him on to get his happily ever after with Cora. This sweet, monster romance has likable characters, steam, and an ending that was perfect. Snake Believe is a great addition to the multi-author Between the Sheets Season 2 series and I look forward to reading the rest of this fun series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I loved Snake Believe Monster Between the Sheets (season 2). Cora is in Screaming Woods to do an article regarding its monsters. She faints when she sees Leroy, a snake man. She is deathly afraid of snakes. Can she get over this fear to have a chance at love with Leroy? Leroy knew she was amazing the second he saw Cora. Given her fear of snakes he didn’t see her giving him a chance at anything. This is a great story of overcoming fears and finding true love. I loved that they are doing a second season of Screaming Woods stories. I would definitely recommend this book and the series. I would recommend reading the first season if you haven’t already.

As someone who suffers ophidiophobia, I wasn't going to read this book. But I am a big lover of Karla's work so I bit the bullet and read it. I have to say I'd have the same reaction to coming face to face with a snake man as Cora when seeing Leroy for the first time... But once I to got over the fact that Leroy was a snake and was really a man I could get into the book (its fantasy after all and I'm not the one kissing him) The story was original, well written and had moments of humor as well as romance. I really did enjoy it and feel that I would read it again as the storyline was great!.

I have been so looking forward to Leroy’s story and it didn’t disappoint! Leroy was changed into a snake man after an incident at a Halloween party years earlier. He runs the hotel in screaming woods. Cora was a little socially awkward and was sent to screaming woods for to write and article on the town and its resident monsters. Their first meeting didn’t go well but Leroy was determined to show Cora they were meant to be. Hot, steamy story with amazing chemistry, true love, a kind, caring hero and a wonderful HEA.

After “meeting” Leroy in the first season of the series I was super excited he was getting a book this time. Cora only thought she knew what to expect when she got the article assignment in Screaming Woods. She also thought she could be professional no matter what she did encountered there. She never expected to come face to face with a man-sized version of her greatest fear! Leroy may look intimidating, but he’s really a big softy, especially for Cora. Leroy’s kind demeanor helps her see past her fears and see the human part of him too. They get to know each other, very well, leading to some very spicy shenanigans with his special parts 😉😉😉.
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This monster romance is all about facing your fears and falling hard. Leroy is the resident snake man of Screaming Woods. Cora has come to town for work and is staying at his hotel. He has finally found everything that he was missing in Cora. A young woman who is petrified, of course, of snakes. The storyline is sweet, funny and still has plenty of inuendos and steam. Leroy has some flaws but the story did also. The characters weren't my favorite but they were still good ones. It made for a good addition to the multi author series
Snake Believe is Cora and Leroy's HEA. We are back in Screaming Woods and I love it! When Cora agrees to write an article on the residents of Screaming Woods she meets all kinds of "people". When she meets Leroy he's a snake man and the embodiment of Ava's biggest fear. She quickly learns however that Leroy has a huge heart and an even bigger "appetite"😉 Loved it! Definitely recommend this sweet and spicy quick read.

Cora is a magazine writer and she is here to do interview with the snake man named Leroy. Leroy was poisoned from the party punch He drink. Sweet and not slithery...until they hit the sheets
Snake Believe by Karla Doyle is part of the multi-author Monster Between the Sheets: Season 2 series. I will first state that snakes and me do not get along so reading this gave me the creepies in a big way. But because I enjoy Karla Doyle and this series I still decided to grab Snake Believe and give it a try. I can't say that I would have gotten over my fear/phobia of snakes like Cora did but Leroy might have made me at least try. I did enjoy the story and the loved the epilogue.
This was a random KU recommendation, like it knew that I still needed to check off the "Snake" prompt on my Monster Mash readathon bingo card. And it was a pleasant surprise! It was a very fast read, and a much lighter tone that the majority of monster romances I've read. Looking at the full Monster Between the Sheets series, there are a couple more that I will read for this readathon, and then I will likely work my way through them whenever I'm in the mood for a monster novella. Very happy with this KU find!
I was so excited to head back to Screaming Woods, where the residents were all transformed into monsters after drinking Dr Karloff's punch. Cora heads to town to interview some monsters, and the Leroy, the one she is most afraid, becomes the one person she might never know she needs. I love that she overcomes her fears of snakes with this hunky snake monster. Karla always gives us the greatest characters and stories.
They say beauty is in the eye if the beholder. But what if you were the thing the girl of your dreams fears most? For Leroy, Screaming Woods’ resident snake man that is his reality, because when Cora walks into his motel and faints at the sight of him, he knows she’s the girl he wants for the rest of his life. Sweet, cute, face your fears, steamy and a fun HEA.

This was a fantastic monster romance. It was a short story that was a bit over the top but in the best way. Leroy and Cora had quite a rocky start but straight away Leroy would do just about anything to make Cora happy and I loved it. The story was high on steam and I especially loved the epilogue. Fantastic story.

This is another fab addition to this fun multi author series and I loved how OTT Leroy was for Cora. She was terribly afraid of snakes and, of course, Leroy is a snake-man from that historic potion-laden punch ;) With time, Cora comes to see all the wonderful that Leroy is, and his patience and willingness to do anything to make her happy made him swoon worthy to me. This was a wonderful 'love conquers all' romance :D
This was a good read. I loved how Cora took her fear and made a decision to be better. Cora and Leroy’s first meeting didn’t go all that well but I love how he persisted and how patient he was with her. I think anyone would have been overwhelmed, but Cora stuck it out and let Leroy in. Sweet and steamy, great add to this series.

Leroy is a great guy/monster. He's smart, kind, owns his own business & is a very sexy snake man. Cora is sweet & kind, a total introvert & socially awkward. I could relate to Cora very well. We are so similar. I loved the story from beginning to end & was so happy there was an epilogue.
There is some bad language & dirty talk. Otherwise, it's a fun story.
A cute sexy read with a reporter sent to write an article about monsters and a guy who’s been living a lonely life. Cora is awkward and an introvert and often speaks without thinking. Her first look at Leroy has her fainting because he’s part snake, the thing she’s most terrified of in the world. This was an entertaining read with likeable characters. A great addition to this monster series season 2. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great story. The details are amazing. The characters are fun, inviting and very connectable. I love how even though this is a paranormal romance and the paranormal hits hard the issues are very realistic in nature. I love how well the MC fit together in the end. The world building and attention to detail are amazing. I throughly enjoyed every bit of this book, especially the parts that made me laugh out loud. I will be looking into more of this author.
If you love a short but steamy romance then I highly recommend giving Cora & Leroy's awesome story a read. This is instalove at it's best. He's a snake man she has a deep fear of snakes. Can the snakeman help the reporter get over her fear or will she run screaming?.
