Theo Silva. Rowdy bull rider. Notorious ladies’ man. Scorching hot trouble wrapped up in a drool-worthy package.

And he’s looking at me like I might be his next meal.

But I’m almost free of my toxic marriage and have sworn off men entirely. So all I see when I look back is temptation served up with a heaping side of heartbreak.

The man is hard to trust—and even harder to resist.

Make that impossible. Because Theo is persistent. And no matter how hard I try to freeze him out, he melts my icy exterior and pulls apart all my defenses.

Over a drink in a small town bar, I blurt out my deepest, darkest secrets. Then I spend the singular hottest night of my life with him.

He worships my body. He makes me blush. I come alive beneath his hands.

Then I tell him to forget it ever happened. I want simple, and with him it all feels complicated.

It was supposed to be a one-time thing.

A secret.

But that little plus sign is going to make this secret impossible to keep.

“that night we were reckless.” his voice cracks. “but god, i’d be reckless with you over and over again if it means ending up here.”

➷ winter was first introduced in flawless as summer’s cold sister. their relationship has always been strained, and despite their mutual desire to reconnect, they haven't been able to repair it. when her marriage starts to fall apart after rhett exposes the family scandal and she learns the truth about her husband, winter decides to spend more time at the hospital in chestnut springs, hoping to rebuild her bond with summer. having finally freed herself from a toxic marriage, winter has sworn off men, until she unexpectedly encounters the compelling theo silva.

i was the most excited for theo and winter’s book and boy did they DELIVER. reverse grumpy x sunshine & black cat x golden retriever just always hits. i’m ngl i didn’t like winter much from her portrayal in flawless, but her redemption arc was honestly incredible. also, i am not the biggest fan of the surprise pregnancy/secret baby or the one night stand trope but i ATE IT UP in this book. the miscommunication was actually painful, but it’s a valuable element to the story. sorry cade, but theo has just single-handedly knocked you out of top spot 🤭

this story was heartwarming in every aspect. it was incredibly emotional, authentic, honest, and raw, with a profound focus on finding yourself, acceptance and love.

“it strikes me that perhaps i’m not an easy woman to love, but theo does it so effortlessly that i feel like i could be. like i deserve to be.”

winter hamilton:
i was curious about winter’s redemption arc and how she would redeem herself. behind her harsh and icy facade lies a complex, vulnerable and distrustful woman who believes that love is unattainable—until she meets theo silva. winter is that misunderstood “villain” that we truly know nothing about until we got her own pov and got to see the true depth of her character, and it all starts to make sense why she is so emotionally closed off — i could really empathise with her at times. i loved watching winter peel back her layers, she has built walls to protect herself because everyone has done her wrong. it made me so happy that she finally got the attention she deserved, but was never given. i’m also glad kip FINALLY grew a backbone and rekindled his relationship with her. winter is unapologetically strong and takes no shit from anyone. seeing her character development from flawless to now was amazing. also watching winter grow as person and re-build her relationships was really pure. i loved her relationship with summer — watching them both heal and reconnect with one another had me in my feels, because you can just see how badly they needed each other. seeing winter’s relationship with her daughter vivi was so wholesome.

theo silva:
theo, notorious for his playboy reputation on the circuit, aims to clean up his image to be deserving of winter. he doesn't just want a woman like her; he wants winter herself. theo is by far my favourite mmc lead in this series. he is the definition of “a man written by a woman.” the way he constantly protected winter and never gave up on her was literally everything to me. his determination to win her over and the way he made her feel so loved, something winter has never truly felt before had me feeling so giddy. theo is an incredible father, and gave it his all. the way he stepped up to be a fully present father was just so adorable. the way my heart hurt for him bc he truly didn’t know and bc of that he missed out on so many precious months with his daughter.. SOBBING, I WAS SERIOUSLY SO GUTTED FOR HIM!! geoff you mf, if i ever see you it’s on SIGHT. also theo telling rhett off was *chefs kiss.* “watch your fucking tone when you speak to the mother of my child.” HELLO I AM GOING FERAL RN 😩

winter + theo:
theo and winter being complete opposites is what really pulled me in, they just completed each other so well. and the banter was so good!! “call your dog off eaton.” […] “woof!” WHEN I TELL YOU THAT HAD ME GIGGLING. theo is the cocky and the confident jokester whereas winter is more grounded and isn’t afraid to call you out on your shit. they both loved so hard and deeply, they are the epitome of soulmates. their bond is undeniable and filled with passion. theo loves winter for who she is, he didn’t want to change winter, he just wanted to know her for who she was and embraces her imperfections and unique traits as essential parts of her identity. this is why i adore theo. both complement each other beautifully, coming alive in each other’s presence. their love just has my entire heart.

“te vivo.” it’s better than “i love you.”
it’s more accurate. it’s us.”

— overall, this is officially my fav book in this series. i don’t even like half of the tropes in this book and the pacing was off but i still really enjoyed it. one thing that did throw me off was winter co-sleeping with her 9 month old baby. like girl you’re a DOCTOR you should be aware of the potential risks 😭 also please give harvey eaton his own book, he is the star of this series. this man still has me hysterically laughing 😭

me if theo dale silva was my man: the house would be spotless, dinner would always be on the table, i'll raise as many kids as you need 🩷

the way this IS the best in the series. after reading the underwhelming book that was powerless im sure the author worked overtime to create this banger of a book. everything about this book was a hit. it was so deep, real, raw, and emotional. the way i’d run through a wall for these characters is unreal. 🤸🏻‍♂️

there’s nothing more satisfying than reading about a woman that everyone seems to hate, that hates herself more, that doesn’t believe she deserves love, to being loved UNCONDITIONALLY!! theo IS a man written by a woman to its very essence. the way he wouldn’t take shit from anyone that came for winter. i need him desperately. “watch your fucking tone when you speak to the mother of my child” my self control slipped-🫨 i need someone to effortlessly defend me when needed but never treat me like i need saving. just be there for me in every way possible. winter you don’t know how good you have it😭

this man is pure goodness. not a bad bone in his body. i thought Cade Eaton was the daddiest of daddy’s in this series but i was wrong the second Theo held Vivi in his arms. the fact that winter has him wrapped around her little finger is just so poetic. the fucking WINKING had me feral. My stomach did the thing (kidney failure)😩

getting to see that motherfucker rob finally get what’s coming to him was satisfying like no other. I need to knock on that bitches head because I know I’ll hear an echo.🤨

this book is more than the romance. it’s about family, self love, and accepting happiness when you don’t think you deserve it. this book has me in a willing chokehold and i fear i will never recover😖

only 2 authors can pull off surprise pregnancy: elizabeth o'roark and elsie silver.

this book is about winter and theo, both of whom we are introduced to in prior books in the series. theo is the lovable ladies man and winter is the sister of summer from the first book. she's a doctor who has quite a bit of trauma and baggage to work thru, making her a little closed off. oh yeah and their kid.

honestly i think this is my favorite book with this trope. i think it's hard to pull off because while romance has a sense of eventuality to it i.e. the characters will end up together, i think accidental pregnancy can feel a little forced. like of course you're going to try to make this one night stand turned relationship work cause there's a lot at stake. nothing inherently wrong with that, it just feels a little less sexy to have that looming. this book didn't have that feeling for me.

probably comes down to theo. he is such a sweetheart and takes on responsibility like no other. initially i felt he was written too perfect but as the book carries on you learn more about him and see his flaws. doesn't make him less charming, just makes him more real. and his personality is really what made surprise pregnancy fun. he was SO into winter and they didn't have some half baked enemies to lovers going. (fr why are all surprise pregnancy enemies to lovers... u hated each other and now ur making it work for the kid? yawn)

i think part of me wishes that a little more happened in this book. maybe a little more tension while trying to make the relationship work. and maybe a little more getting to know each other since they really only spent one night together before having a kid. but... it's hard to complain. this book felt like a warm hug.

and i know it's a winner because i've already ordered myself a copy for my shelves. definitely worth a read.

Theoooo Silva! This man is going down as one of my top book boyfriends. He's a treat her like a princess kinda guy but also a dirty talking bull rider🥵. And he was so so sweet and gentle with Winter.
This book also jumps STRAIGHT into the plot and something happens very early into the book that I did not expect. My favorite in the chestnut springs series so far.

Theo Silva could literally punch me in the face and I’d thank him.

“I’m married, you fucking pig. Now leave.” Her hand flips out firmly, pointing down the driveway. Married. I just shrug. “Married for now, maybe.”

The second this man opened his might I knew I was a goner. Leave it to miss Elsie Silver to make me love a book with the pregnancy trope in it…. Aka my least favorite trope of all time. HOWWWW????? I don’t even like babies nor do I want kids and the way Théo interacted with Vivi had my ovaries fucking SCREAMING!!

Winter is me I am Winter, I love her so much and will defend her with my dying breath.

Theo. THEO!!!!! I genuinely cannot wrap my head around the perfection that is this man. He is the blueprint. Him finding out about Vivian actually broke me in a way I was not expecting, my heart hurt so much for him!!! And the way this man stepped up to the fucking plate as a father and as the man Winter needed to lean on, GOD I COULDNT HANDLE IT!!! I’ll be passing away now.

Okay I will say I was expecting to love this more than Heartless but Heartless still remains my favorite in the series with this a close second!

I do in fact have a thing for fictional daddies now… send help. I’m feral.

“That night we were reckless.” His voice cracks. “But god, I’d be reckless with you over and over again if it means ending up here.”

I'm officially in my cowboy era 🤠 because I'm obsessed with Elsie Silver's books and her hottest man Theo Dale Silva. Who would've thought that I'd be this addicted to small town romance. But here I am.

This is my first Elsie's book and it was a very spontaneous decision to start this series in a reverse order at 2 A.M. because I just couldn't wait to read Winter and Theo's story. But I think this is also my decision of the year because Elsie served everything I've wanted. I was reticent at first to read this because it has “surprise pregnancy trope” which rarely works for me, but let me tell you guys after reading Reckless and how Theo cared and proved himself to be worthy of Winter and Vivi's love, I admit that only Elsie can write this trope this perfectly. There was nothing I hated about this book. NOTHING. Because how can I when everything was just simply so beautiful and incredible.

The pacing was smooth and I love Elsie's simple yet exquisite writing and it just flows throughout the story that made me forget I was even reading. It just gave me all the cozy vibes of a small town romance. This has witty banter, little angst in the middle, he fell first trope, a hot bull rider with golden retreat personality and an ice queen, and a very wholesome family.

“Well, now you have a window into how women feel in your presence.”
“Is that why they scream Oh Theo, this is so boring! when I’m inside them?”
I snort and gaze up at him, blushing a little at the knowing look in his eye.
It’s unnerving. He’s unnerving. So I volley. Hoping I can wound him enough to make him leave me alone.
“They just tell you that so you’ll finish and stop flopping around on top of them.”
“Do you think? Maybe we could arrange a time when you can instruct me on how to flop less. I do love to practice.”

Theo and Winter are total opposites of each other in every way and though Theo was attracted to Winter the moment he met but somehow it never felt like insta-love or anything. Their relationship progressed like a normal one and Theo proved himself every moment that he is worthy of Winter and her love.

I loved their family dynamics and the found family trope in this and how everything slowly and steadily blossomed into a perfect little family. It was perfect seeing his efforts for both Winter and Vivi when he knew that he had a daughter. All those cute and adorable moments of all them together. Those were really beautiful.

“They both turn their big brown eyes on me, and suddenly I’m aware of how close we’re standing. My hand on Vivi. Vivi’s hand on Theo. Theo’s hand on me.
Connected. We will always be connected.”

The scene where he knew first time about Vivi broke my heart. Theo deserved all the moments he missed with Vivi and Winter. But guys Theo Dale as a man is hot but Daddy Theo Dale is damn fucking hot and delicious. Because the way he cared for Vivi and the way he called her “baby girl” was everything 💘 if there's a chance I want them to adopt me.

“Theo is laid out on the couch, his good arm slung behind his head, which makes his bicep bulge in a very distracting way. Vivi is sprawled across his chest, looking like a koala who’s climbing a tree that is too big for her to reach around. Her red, heart shaped lips are just a little bit open, and his arm that should be in a sling is folded beside him, one broad palm splayed over her back. There’s some sort of car race playing on the TV, but Theo is staring at Vivi.”

➸ Winter Hamilton

An independent doctor who is often described as the ice queen or fiery. Winter was always a bit insecure because she never knew what it is to be loves unconditionally and she just needed time and love. She's confident and reserved and never let anyone walk over her. I loved her character from the very start and I know she seems cold and unlovable but after knowing what she went through and why she was like that I only loved her even more and I'm glad she left that asshole almost bald husband. The way she cared and provided everything for her daughter was just commendable. Winter deserves so much better. She also felt a little uncomfortable in everyone's company but Theo was the one who understood her and never treated her as just some ice queen.

“You have to freak out with me because I need you. And I love you. I love you so much it paralyzes me to think of carrying on without you. You’re not allowed to shut me out. Because you made me need you, and now you have to deal with the consequences.”

➸ Theo Dale Silva

A hot bull rider who is funny and gentleman but not so gentlemen inside (because Theo and his damned mouth was just everything) and charming but also flirty. He is perfect and I remember the very first moment I loved him and it was when he barked YESS THEO BARKED AT WINTER LIKE “WOOF”. That was the moment I fell in love with him. What I truly loved about him is that everyone was saying he is playboy but in reality he is a walking talking green flag. Theo just needed a chance to redeem himself and he absolutely did his best. He is a mama boy who always talks to and cares for his mother and his sister and even watches shows with her. He never forced anything on Winter but made his place in her heart and in her home and made her feel like he deserves to be with her not just because he was the father of Vivi but because he loved and cared for Winter. I need this man like I need air because he had ruined real men for me.

“Tink. You’ve ruined me. Don’t you get it? I only see you. You’ve got all my attention. Every last bit of it.”

╰┈➤ Theo and Winter

“I’m a bull rider and she’s a doctor. I’m fire and she’s ice. She wants to forget about me, and right now I can’t stop thinking about her.”

Their dynamics are one of the best thing in this book. Theo knew he wanted winter the night they spent together but he also knew that he needed to change himself to be a better version of himself just so he could deserve Winter. There's nothing sexy more than the man who knows what he wants in his life and is determined to earn that! They always had this undeniable chemistry and they both never back down from a challenge. They really were like burning fire together.

“All I can think about is how perfect you look like this.” He drops to his knees and presses a kiss to my stomach. “All the ways I’m going to ruin you tonight. All I see is you, Winter.”

He barely knew her when they had a one night stand but he never gave up on her. Theo fell first and fell harder for Winter and he is the one who broke every icy exterior Winter made around herself to protect herself from disappointment in the end. It was beautiful seeing them fall in love and caring for each other. The way they worked together for Vivi and thought it was just a business plan but nothing about that was business because Theo's business is always about Winter and Vivi.

“I’m still a mess now.”
I splay my fingers lower on her back, trailing them over the top seam of her underwear as I gaze out over the packed dance floor. “Maybe I don’t care. Maybe I want to be messy with you forever.”

I loved the way Theo never played any mind games with her or downplayed her efforts for Vivi. They worked together for Vivi and it was so endearing and precious to watch him fall for his daughter for the first time in almost two years and how he also he treated Winter the way she deserved. Winter never had anyone caring for her so intimately as she was always this ice queen for others, but Theo saw right through her feelings. Theo made sure that he was everything Winter needed. A perfect man who will never break her heart, who loved his daughter and winter fearlessly. He never overstepped her boundary and waited patiently until Winter herself felt comfortable enough to be with him. I WANT WHAT THEY HAVE.

“That night I realized I’d never get over you. Time, distance, none of it mattered. That night, I knew there would be no one like you for me. I was so sure of it. I could feel it in my bones. I still do.”

The ending was perfect and just exactly the way I wanted it. There was a little bit ex-husband drama but honestly it really didn't bother me because there was no third act breakup. The epilogue was everything and I just need more of them. Everything about Theo and Winter and their story was beautiful. I love them so much and they are definitely my favourite couple of this series.

“That night we were reckless.” His voice cracks. “But god, I’d be reckless with you over and over again if it means ending up here.”

I'm still trying to figure out why I slept on this series so long. If it's one thing I have figured out, it is that Elsie has a way of making me want to stay in this small town and my cowboy era and never leave.

Reckless is the third book in the Chestnut Springs series. This is a small town, reverse grumpy-sunshine, surprise pregnancy, cowboy romance that had wity banter, tension, and the best heartfelt moments. I loved this so much and was shocked that I didn't mind the surprise pregnancy, but Elsie wrote it so well.

This story follows Winter and Theo. They had a brief meet cute at the gas station only to end up at the same dinner at the Eaton Ranch. They share some moments, and it's evident that Theo is interested, but Winter is in the middle of a divorce and trying to find herself. The last thing she is looking for is any type of relationship. One thing leads to another, and they end up having a night together, but that night changes everything.

Winter Hamilton is a strong independent er doctor that is most known as having a cold exterior and been given the name of "ice queen." However, she is so much more than that. Her character pulled at my heart strings as she wasn't really shown love growing up and felt that she wasn't deserving of it nor did she think that she was capable of giving it's no wonder she has insecurities. It wasn't until she had Vivi that she was made aware that she was very capable of loving another. I adored watching Winter with motherhood as it helped her find true self. The way that she grew throughout and realised with Theo's support and actions that she was deserving of being loved was everything. I wasn't sure if Winter would be able to redeem herself because I honestly didn't care for her much in the previous books, but she did, and I love her so much.

"I get the sense he’ll give me everything if I want it. I just need the nervous voice inside my head to shut the hell up. She sabotages me.

Theo Dale Silva
is a flirty, sweet to his core, caring, and funny bull rider. When this man winked gah it made me feel all warm and fuzzy. We don't get to see much of the struggles that he has and had gone through, and that is one thing that I would have liked to see more of him. Outside of that, though, I fell hard for Theo. The way that he stepped up and became a father to Vivi without even blinking an eye while also making sure that Winter is cared for as well was commendable. This man had me swooning so hard and wanting him to be my baby daddy. Move over Cade because we have a new daddy in town.

“Watch your fucking tone when you’re talking to the mother of my child.”

Winter and Theo
had a connection from the beginning even through their banter that I couldn't get enough of. I loved their first moment together and how they poked at the other to rile them up. They couldn't be more oppostite but they worked together so well complimenting one another so perfectly. I enjoyed watching them work together to build their family even when it was new with supporting and finding comfort with one another. I loved the way that they showed up for each other when they were vulnerable sensing that they needed the other to just be there for them when they felt no one else was. It was pulling at my heart in the most heart wrenching ways making me tear up at some of these moments.

“He said, ‘Mom, I met her.’ And I said, ‘Who?’” Loretta’s lips curve up, her eyes taking on a faraway look. “He said, ‘The woman I’m going to marry one day.’”

“Winter, we are a thing. We are the thing. We are it.”

The found family in this was awe amazing. I love the way they are always there for each other even when it seems like they don't want the help. Let me just give Theo's mom Loretta some recognition. She was so sweet and accepting of Winter from the start even with hearing some stories about her. Now I see where Theo got his sweet and caring side from. I swear this series has had some of the best found family. Can they adopt me? I would love to be a part of this big family and their group texts.

There really was only one thing that I didn't care for in this, which is why it wasn't a 5 star read. That is the miscommunication in the beginning. I feel like it could have been conducted and resolved in a different way. Aside from that, I absolutely adored this, and though it's close with Heartless, I have to say that this one does take the cake in being my favorite. Now off to finish this series with Beaus book, and I'm a bit scared as I've not seen the best about it.

Favortie quotes and moments

“I could fucking bury whoever made you believe you’re as unlovable as you seem to think.”

“Winter,” I rasp. “I have sponsors. And agents. Doctors and trainers. Those are business relationships. You and I are a lot of things, but business partners is not one of them.”
“Why not? We could be.”
“Because the things I dream about doing to you are horribly unprofessional.”

“What’s happening is Miss Independent met the treat- her- like- a- princess guy, and she’s freaking out.”

"Tink. You’ve ruined me. Don’t you get it? I only see you. You’ve got all my attention. Every last bit of it.”

“Te vivo.” It’s better than “I love you”. It’s more accurate. It’s us."

4.5 stars

I’ve read few books with the surprise pregnancy trope and this one stood out the most to me given the emotional depth to the storyline and I absolutely adored it. I didn’t think anything could top heartless but I ended up loving both for different reasons

“i get the sense he'll give me everything if I want it. I just need the nervous voice inside my head to shut the hell up. She sabotages me.”

Winter had a seemingly cold exterior in flawless and I wasn’t sure how she would redeem herself but she did and I only have good things to say about her. Getting to know her helped me see her strength and how misunderstood she was. It was easy to connect to winter as I saw a bit of myself reflected in her when it came to some of the feelings she harbored (especially her insecurities which were quite valid all things considered) and seeing her recognize that she was deserving of love and the support shown by Theo— it was very endearing and I liked seeing her let down her walls and come alive because of it. Also, seeing motherhood through her eyes and how it was for her felt so real and exposed and I loved that

“Watch your fucking tone when you're talking to the mother of my child." This energy >

Theo Silva.. THIS MAN. The praise I’ve seen for both him and Cade didn’t disappoint. I have so many words yet sweet, funny, filthy and incorrigible flirt are four that come to mind but enamored is how I felt with his character. he was the epitome of the greenest flag while doing the bare minimum you’d expect from most men. he really jumped into his role of being a father without thinking twice and I thought that was done well enough that even my ovaries seemed to agree. I adored the way he built winter up through his actions and words aside from how adamant he was to ensuring things worked out between them. I enjoyed the banter and teasing on his end incredibly much besides his initial delusion which was really just him manifesting 👏🏼 he was completely whipped lol daddy Theo everyone

“That night, all the best things in this world came into existence. You. Vivi. Us.”

Theo & Winter worked beautifully well together despite being total opposites. The unwavering support and understanding over their fears and needs was mutual on both ends and i enjoyed the process of seeing the connection between them unfold. their heartfelt moments and desire to making things work as a family made this unexpectedly moving and ultimately touched my heart

“He said, 'Mom, I met her?" And I said, 'Who?' "He said, 'The woman I'm going to marry one day."

Honorable mention of Theo’s mom as she was extremely sweet and welcoming! It’s no surprise that’s who Theo got his charm from. The found family here has made me enjoy the series so much more and I can’t say it enough

And rob? I’m glad winter put him in his place

small issue i had

I saw one issue some had but it didn’t bother me given the underlying factors present—her ex being a predator and those papers already being drafted. My issue was the miscommunication in the beginning which could’ve been portrayed in a more believable and less contrived way as it felt so flat and things just didn’t add up aside from it being something I’ve seen before.

Overall thoughts

Without finishing the last book, I already know i’m left with two main favs in this series and I’m ok with that and the impression these two left on me.. this was 5 stars in my heart. if only chestnut springs were real as I never want to leave

Quotes

“Te vivo." It's better than "I love you". It's more accurate. It's us.”

“One night only. We never tell anyone. But I’ll probably beg you for another shot, eventually. - Theo Silva”

“What’s happening is Miss Independent met the treat-her-like-a-princess guy, and she’s freaking out.”

“Being loved is uncomfortable for her. God, I want to change that, but she'll be the one to tell me when the time is right. I have it in my head that after spending her life behaving in a way that suits everyone around her, she might need a minute to figure out what suits her.”

"Dr. Hamilton in the streets, filthy slut in the sheets.” Lmao

I'm so behind on reviews lately, so while I have a few mins let me draft a short one for this book.

I want to start by saying that I really did enjoy this story and I LOVE Theo. I love this whole universe and I can't remember the last time that an author had me in a complete chokehold for an entire series - oh I know. SJM.

With that in mind, I went through this series like a tornado. Tore through the pages, switched between kindle and audio just to spend more time with these characters and find out what was going to happen with them.

╰┈➤ I will forever be thankful to Elsie Silver for bringing us this beautiful world. I want to go live in Chestnut Springs, have family dinners and hang out with all of the characters.

✨ All of that being said. ✨

╰┈➤ I did not expect Winter to be so damn annoying. She is the most insecure FMC I've read in a long while. I found her grating at every turn.

I had a hard time believing she was her age, a mother and a whole ass doctor with the way she would stalk Theo out of insecurity and jealousy. Like literally creep and hide behind things to see an interaction between him and another woman.

The way she would constantly question him and need non stop reassurance. I understand going through a difficult past and not being very trusting but this was over the top imo.

This went on for the majority of the book. Not necessarily the stalking but the huge insecurities and he never gave her a reason to be. Like all of the men in this series he was all about his woman, even when they weren't officially together.

╰┈➤ I also wasn't a fan of the surprise pregnancy trope right out the gate within the first chapter or two.

All in all, I really loved this series and enjoyed every single min that I got to spend in Chestnut Springs with all of these wonderful and well rounded characters. This is my first experience with Elsie Silver and it certainly won't be my last. Such an excellent story teller!

Those interested in the audio for this one - the narrators are top notch. Some of you ladies may be familiar with the swoon worthy Joe Arden as the voice of Theo, and Winter is the voice of Savannah Peachwood. 🤌🏻💋

“It means . . . I live you. Like I see you everywhere, you are in everything. Our connection is more than physical.”

“Careful, that one’s got claws,” Cade offers right as Willa shoves a pointy elbow into his ribs. I grin. “That’s okay. I like having my back scratched.”

“I will go wherever you want. I will wear whatever you want. I will never turn my phone off again. I will always, always be there for you. For Vivi. You don’t need to beg, and you don’t need to say please. For as long as I live, for as long as you need me, you’ll have me. Okay? Never doubt that.”

“It strikes me that perhaps I’m not an easy woman to love, but Theo does it so effortlessly that I feel like I could be. Like I deserve to be.”

Theo Silva is a MAN.…i mean, obviously, but y’all know what i mean. he steps up for his woman and his family without question or hesitation. fictional men are just superior.

now that i’ve finished four books in this series (fifth book comes out in October!) i’ll leave you with this: this series isn’t perfect but it has been so fun and that’s really all i needed.

if you read these, don’t think too hard — just appreciate these fluffy, easy-to-read books for what they are. sit back, relax, & enjoy the hot cowboys.🤠

**ratings on these books are subject to change based on how memorable they end up being in the long run. (my apologies if you see me flip flop between 3 & 4 stars a million times. i am INDECISIVE, ok?

I am begging authors to stop writing sex scenes to pander to the spicy booktok crowd. It is not the amount of steam in this book I have an issue with. It actually felt quite low, but the way it was written. I couldn't decide if I should laugh or cringe. Turns out I did both. Clearly, Elsie Silver wants this book to go viral and allllll the sex scenes felt written for tiktok videos. Cringe.

This book was FULL of poorly written cliche after cliche. The relationship lacked any kind of nuance at all. The characters were stereotypical with knee jerk, over the top reactions, and some of the cheesiest dialogue I've ever read.

"That night we were reckless." His voice cracks. "But god, I'd be reckless with you over and over again if it means ending up here."

Came for Theo Silva, stayed for the Nessian vibes ✨

A really good friend said "YOURE GONNA LOVE THEO SILVA PLS READ RECKLESS" and when she put it like that, all caps and everything, I knew I couldn't refuse.
Not gonna lie, I was a little reluctant at first, because my first encounter with this author left a bitter taste in my mouth. I read Flawless with my emoji gang last year and, while we had tons squirming at all the ways that book made us cringe, it kind of convinced me Elsie Silver wasn't for me.

Trust me when I say I'm incredibly glad I didn't let Rhett and his poor-ass game stop me from reading this, because this book, this book right here is e v e r y t h i n g.

There's something impossibly charming about a man (fictional or otherwise) who knows what he wants and can love so utterly the way Theo Silva does.
Jesus Christ, the things that cocky motherfucker made me feel.
It was clear right from the start I was going to be a goner for him because as much as I like to brag about getting the hots for the baddest of boys, it's always the sexy golden retriever with smirks for days and a mouth made for sin that wins all the prizes for me.
And, of course, the fact that his initial approach with Winter and basically all their relationship reminded me of Cassian and Nesta's journey (minus the booze and the training, plus a kid and a chihuahua) did nothing but increase my enjoyment.
Give me a flawed ice queen with daddy and mommy issues and pair her with the sweetest adonis in town who'll love her despite and because of said flaws, and I'm all in forever.

I devoured this book and hated every moment when I wasn't reading it.
It made me understand why Elsie Silver is so hyped and I finally realized the problem I had with the first book didn't really revolve around her style or the story itself, it was more about my dislike towards how the MMC is characterized and how cringey he got during sexy times.

I absolutely love this story and it flowed so well and effortlessly, it was the palate cleanser with depth I didn't think I'd need.
The plot is an easy one and one that has been written about before, but it's the execution that did it for me. I kept waiting for a proverbial shoe to drop, sat on the edge of my sit looking sideways whenever I sniffed drama coming, but I was pleasantly surprised when my anxiety was quieted down by well-rounded characterization and an amazing representation of what a good relationship looks like.
I was also pretty pleased by the time jump at the beginning. I thought we were going to miss an important part of Theo and Winter's journey, but instead it just showed how good of a match they are.
Winter, like Nesta, is not a particularly likeable character at first. We've got to see a bit of her in Flawless and she didn't leave a very good impression. Her relationship with Summer, her little sister, is complicated and stained by a past neither can change, but I loved seeing them get together in this installment and I adore just how willing Winter was to remediate to all the pain she's put her little sis through, even though her behaviour didn't completely depend on her.
I totally rooter for her and related to her in ways I didn't think were possible. She was a true revelation and her and Vivi filled my heart with love and joy.

Motherhood is a precious theme to me, considering my life got a million times better when my little boy was born, and this book gave me all the feels and made me nostalgic in a good way.
I also really loved how well Winter fit with the Eaton bunch and how she got to pick up her strained relationship with her dad. As someone whose been basically abandoned by her biological father figure, I loved how Winter put herself first when it came to a dad that had all but stood by her side during hard times.
The doolhouse bit, tho, made me shed a few tears, not gonna lie.
I also admit I liked Rhett and company way more as secondary characters, even tho his dad is still the MVP and always will be.

The romance was simply perfect and if I could give this book more stars for the fact that there's no third act breakup, I would. Heck, I'd buy 4 copies of the book just as a reward for going against one of the tropes I hate the most.
I LOVED how supportive Theo and Winter were of each other and how easily they fell into their new dynamics as parents.
But I think what I loved the most, was how they understood each other the way nobody else could. How they fought for each other when no one else would and how committed they were all the time.
At some point, Winter, who's used to being treated like shit and manipulated all her life can't understand how someone like Theo can love her the way he does and he says: "What's happening is Miss Independent met the treat-her-like-a-princess guy, and she's freaking out." and I squealed so loud because SAME SIS!!!
I saw a lot of myself in Winter and saw even more of my current relationship with the man I love in this simple phrase.
Being independent doesn't mean you don't need someone to take care of your heart.

Best romance novel I've read these past 2 years, hands down.
I think I'll add something to this review in the future, but for now, I'm gonna leave this emotional mix of fangirling and warm, fuzzy feelings here for everyone to see.

"You only think you owe me something because you've spent too long dating assholes who are terrible lays. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Stop overthinking it. Plus, my face is the ride."

𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻 the “ice queen”. Winter grew up with a lot of family problems and ended up with a shitty husband. Until she met Theo (you’re never gonna guess what happens next) they have a one-night stand 🥳 and to just really put the cherry on the top, she gets pregnant 🤗 Okay but I actually love Winter so much, she reminds me of Nesta, and Nesta is my forever favorite bitch.

“𝙄’𝙫𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙘𝙮, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙄 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙖 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣. 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙄 𝙖𝙙𝙢𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙬.”

I am unwell right now. I don’t know how this book managed to make me so emotional (probably my own daddy issues kicking in) 😭 No but honestly Theo handled everything perfectly, he’s such a sweetheart. And Winter ughh I love her, and her character development was so good, it wasn’t overdone which I love and appreciate. Theo, Winter, Vivi, and Peter are probably one of my all-time favorite fictional families, especially because Winter really deserves this happy little family.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the found family trope in this series it literally everything! and I can’t wait for Beau’s book, ughh I needed his book like yesterday ngl.
There’s something about the mmc’ in this series, they’re all so masculine, and goshh I love it 🫠🤤

“𝙉𝙤, 𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧. 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙮 𝙢𝙖𝙢𝙖.”

“𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙.”

There is however a reason I didn’t give this book five stars, and that is because I felt like it was missing some more emotional connection, with just Winter and Theo and not Vivi. I needed them to just sit down and talk to each other, and learn more about each other. I feel like I know more about Winter’s background story than Theo’s, and I would’ve loved to know more about Theo because the man is literally almost every woman’s dream.

“𝙄 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙚𝙡𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙩.”

When I read 'Heartless' last year, I thought no Elsie Silver book could top that. Honestly, this one was just as good. I loved Reckless so much. Winter was fantastic, and Theo was absolutely perfect. This is a troupe I'm not a fan of, but she did it just right. There was nothing I didn't love about this book!

When Winter and Theo meet, they have a lot of chemistry. It's obvious right away there is an attraction there, and though neither are in a place for anything serious, they act on it. One night together changes everything. Theo is a professional bull rider, a protégé, and on his way to wining titles. Winter is a doctor, in the middle of a divorce, and finding herself again as well as developing a relationship with her sister, Summer.

Winter is such a strong heroine. She doesn't have a good example of what it is to be a good and loving mom, but when she finds herself in that position, she does the dang thing and she does it so well. She's an overcomer and though it takes people a while to get in there with her, once they do she's kind, loyal, and loving.

And let me tell you about Theo. This man is perfection. How much love, care, and attention he gives to both of his girls. Swoon. I just adored him so much. He jumped right in there and took the role he was always meant to fill. I loved Theo and Winter together. This has a bit of an opposites attract vibe and I am here for it.

Now to the troupe we all know and love loathe... if you know me at all you know this is one of my least favorite things in books, so if it worked for me, it will work for anyone lol. Don't let it scare you from reading this epic book! I won't give any spoilers, but ya'll are just going to have to trust me.

I've read almost all of Elsie Silver's books and the more she writes, the more she solidifies herself as a new favorite for me. This book had the perfect amount of angst, steam, and heart. I know Reckless will be making my top 2023 list and I can't recommend it enough!

this may or may not be my favorite book in the whole series! everything about this book is written to perfection. from the way the characters were written to the storyline itself!

౨ৎ winter. anyone who says something bad about this woman will get a word from me. she had been through so much because of marina, and i will never forgive her for being such a bad mom to her. she’s grew up to be a strong woman while thinking that she’s unlovable because no one was really there for her. her character development was really great! seeing her slowly trusting other people gave me so much relief because she deserves the love she thinks she doesn’t deserve.

౨ৎ theo. truly the perfect man for winter. he doesn’t get insecure that winter can definitely do things by herself, and he looks up to her so much because he was raised right! i truly believe that his family plays a huge factor as to why he’s so great. he grew up in a loving family that's why he's such a genuine person. i can see that he got it from his mom. everything that he does is out of love, and i’m so happy to see him so secure of himself, except for the part where he got so overwhelmed with things. this man came back better than ever when winter gave him a hard reality check though!

all in all, this book is probably one of the best in the series! all the characters and their complexities made this book so beautiful. it shows how much patience it takes for a person to actually break down their walls, and trust the other person. i’d definitely recommend this to anyone who loves small-town romances and cowboys!

I AM SO MAD AT ELSIE OMG! It's just not FAIR that she writes so damn well, that her stories are so damn compelling, that her characters feel like my best friends. I LOVE this entire series, but mark this down: Reckless is my new favorite. Theo and Winter are *chef's kiss* and their story is one of the best I have ever read!

This story has it all. It's hilarious, it's emotionally moving, it's hopeful, it's romantic, it's HOT. Five stars isn't enough. My top read of 2023!

I'll call Theo "Daddy" forevermore. And Winter stole my heart. She's my favorite heroine in the Chestnut Springs series! I just ate this up. I truly do not have words. It seems like the entire world is figuring out what a brilliant genius Elsie Silver is, and I'm here for it. It's her era. I'm happy to live in it and experience these masterpieces!

TE VIVO. I felt this book in my soul. Theo Silva. Winter Hamilton. Its like a playful golden retriever meeting a scared black cat. Prepare for an emotionally analytical review because, and I repeat, I felt this book in my soul.

Winter: "I resent myself, because what is it about me that is so profoundly unloveable? I feel like I'm on a constant mission to figure that one thing out."

Theo: "She's not accustomed to people simply liking her for the woman she is. That makes me want to burn the world down around us to right the wrongs people have laid at her feet over the years."

If you'd have told me, after reading book one, that Winter would be my favorite Elsie Silver girlie I would have died laughing. But its true, she is. And Theo Silva might be the best guy in this series too, and he's not even really my type? I'm more of a Cade Eaton kinda gal (i think?), but after reading this book I will take the suave ladies' man with a heart of gold who appreciates learning how to help a woman battle her demons. It's his acceptance of Winter despite her flaws, her claws, her tragic backstory, her severe insecurities and self-doubt, and her trust issues that makes him so damn perfect. That and his ability to not just simply accept her but to see and know who she really is inside. Women like Winter are tough for a reason, and her creep of an ex-husband never bothered to really see the real Winter: a scared, self-doubting woman who pretends to have it all (the house, the successful career, the marriage) so that the outside world doesn't see how small and unhappy she really feels inside. Enter Theo, a totally out-of-character match for her that proves to be the exact combination of reckless, crazy, happy, healthy, dont-give-a-damn kinda guy that Winter needs and deserves.

PS: if a guy doesn't make you laugh (looking at her creep of an ex-hubby), he ain't it. Duh. And Theo Silva makes Winter laugh all the time.

Think: starting over. jaded divorced woman. happy fun loving pro bull-rider guy. ice queen meets sunshine king. one night stand. secret adorable baby girl. the SWEETEST Theo Silva daddy moments. a soulmate-level romance. next-door-neighbors. cowboy possessiveness. spicespicespice. creep of an ex-husband meets badass new man. second chances at life. tears. all the feelings. so much happiness.

The famous quote that goes something like “we accept the love we think we deserve” applies to Winter’s arc so well, and is evidenced by her marriage to nasty Rob (insecure Winter) and then Theo (fearless Winter). Theo helps her love herself, and Winter gives Theo everything he didn’t know he needed. Reckless is a beautiful story of love, finding yourself, trusting yourself to make the right choices, and discovering that life can be exactly what you've always wanted if you let go of fear. Theo and Winter are the best, and their story is both enduring and endearing and just exceptional. This entire series is just so good, I blew through all the books in like a week (bc of course) and now I have to wait until October for Beau's story and I am not okay about it. My final order of favorites is Heartless TIED WITH Reckless, then Powerless, and then Flawless. But the series has no skips and no flaws. Every single story was perfect in its own way, and the Chestnut Springs books deserve all the hype!!!

♾️⭐️!!!!

"That night we were reckless. But, god, I'd be reckless with you over and over again if it means ending up here."

THE PLOT

Theo Silva is bull-riding protégé who is a notorious ladies man, and Winter Hamilton knows exactly what it means when he starts eyeing her like that. Who would have thought that a chance look at a gas station would lead to a full-on screaming match at the Eaton family ranch? When Winter and Theo get drunk one night at a bar, Winter spills her darkest secrets, and they decide to have a strict, coaster-official contract to have a wild night and never think twice about it. The only thing is...how can you ignore the plus sign on a pregnancy test? Winter is a complicated woman with a complicated past and just wants a simple life. However, Theo is anything but simple, but she can't resist.

"I just remembered that he called me the morning after you two first got together. And do you know what he said to me?"
I shake my head.
"He said, 'Mom, I met her. The woman I'm going to marry one day.'"

MY THOUGHTS

This has to be HANDS DOWN my favorite book in this series. It is such an underrated book that I don't think gets enough attention. When is comes to fictional men and standards, THEO SILVA IS THE STANDARD, LADIES AND GENTLEMAN. It literally does not get better than him. The way his love for Winter and Vivi blooms throughout the book and just progressively gets more in depth and real just melted my heart. This man would truly to anything for the ladies he loves. Winter is such an underrated character!! Her development throughout this book reminded me of Nesta from ACOTAR. She's the one we all hate because of her cold exterior and personality but when you really get to know her and understand her past, it all makes sense. She has never been truly loved unconditionally. And the fact that Theo was able to give that to her and be so patient with her was everything. Theo really was everything.

Listen...I thought I wasn't a pregnancy trope girly until I read this. I usually don't like them, to be fair. But this worked SO. WELL. It was written with care; it was written delicately. There are not enough words in this universe to accurately describe how much I ended up liking this trope. Elsie Silver has such a way with words it is so magical, truly. This book could not have gone better. Yes there was a bleh "third-act breakup" but was it really? Depends on how you see it. It didn't feel like a cliche one but it was in there nonetheless. But because of their communication, it was resolved quickly and in a beautiful way. The spice in this book also has to be my favorite! This book was SPICY INDEED and I was eating up every last bit of it like it was my last meal.

Side note: The way they talk about Peter (the dog) is SO FUNNY when I tell you I laughed are nearly every scene with Peter 😭 It was such a good time

Overall, I cannot recommend this series enough. I can't believe I went into this series thinking this wouldn't be for me but it is now my favorite series of all time. If you are waiting for a sign to start this, HERE IT IS!!! Theo and Winter will forever have my heart and the spot of my favorite couple. ☺️

this is hands down my fav of the series so far. elsie silver idk how you did it but you managed to make accidental pregnancy into an amazing book. after reading this book for a second time i can say i love it even more. when in doubt theo silva could save me when im dying on my death bed, no fictional man could ever compare to him i get pregnant from his words alone.

theo silva is such a man oh my goodness. i swear for the rest of the series i never really was attracted to any of the guys imo, im just not into country guys but theo…

description

and idk if it’s my period being near talking but this actually had me emotional and i’m so shocked because i never in a million years would have guessed this would be my fav. i thought i hated winter…bitch i love her. i love the found family vibes, i love harvey, and im so sad she had to go AND RUIN IT with beau’s book.

quotes:

“Te vivo.” It’s better than “I love you”. It’s more accurate. It’s us.

“Because you make me like myself . . . and you’re the only one who ever has.”

“He said, ‘Mom, I met her.’ And I said, ‘Who?’” Loretta’s lips curve up, her eyes taking on a faraway look. “He said, ‘The woman I’m going to marry one day.’”
