Earl Mill

Remarkably this mill survives largely intact despite having ceased cotton production as long ago as 1922. Since then it has housed a variety of industries or business, as well as being a barracks during and World War II and a demob centre thereafter. The top floor has recently undergone a major refurbishment to attract new businesses.
The bulk of the current building is the 1891 rebuild by P. S. Stott of the original 1860 mill. It was powered by a 1250hp twin tandem compound engine by Buckley and Taylor.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
