Prominent on the hillside is Morfa Lodge, a Regency villa built in the early decades of the nineteenth century for William Madocks, founder of Tremadog and Porthmadog, and now a listed building. see: LinkExternal link.
Madocks, an Englishman (1773 - 1828), was hugely influential in this area of Wales and was responsible for much of the reclamation of the land of the Afon Glaslyn estuary and the building of the Cob, see Wiki page: LinkExternal link.
