I've got Shelley's back
A rear view of the statue near the visitor centre SN9264 : Percy Bysshe Shelley at the Elan Valley of the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley who stayed in the Elan Valley for several weeks in 1811 and 1812. It was created in 1988 by Christopher Kelly.
The sculpture SN9264 : Statue of Percy Bysshe Shelley is much inspired by Prometheus Unbound, a four-act lyrical drama by Shelley first published in 1820, dealing with the torments of the Greek mythological figure Prometheus and his suffering at the hands of Zeus, the father of gods and men. The central figure in the sculpture is Shelley in deep creative thought. On each side, the dancing nymphlike figures represent the poet's muse - as if they are rising out of the ground Shelley is kneeling on. Reference is also implied to the triangular relationships so prominent in Shelley's romantic life.
