taken 7 months ago, near to Pollokshields, Glasgow, Scotland
Bellahouston Park, 5km southwest of the centre of Glasgow , houses multiple attractions, including the House for an Art Lover Link the result of a 1901 competition set by a German design magazine. The Art Nouveau entry by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret MacDonald, although disqualified because it was a late entry, was awarded a prize. A decision was subsequently taken to execute the plans, which turned out to be a complex operation, as the plans were a ‘concept’ and needed quite a bit of interpretation! Building began in 1989 and it opened to the public in 1996. The House for an Art Lover is owned by a charitable company with the primary purpose of stimulating public interest in Art, Design & Architecture. There is a café and shop, and the house can be used as a venue for conferences and other types of event.
