Looking along the shingle beach between the cliffs and the breakwater at Holywell, Number 1 groyne can be seen in the distance. This groyne marks the start of Eastbourne’s system of numbering groynes, which runs for 6km from Holywell to the outfall pipe at Langney Point. Bay Number 1 lies on the far side (northeast) of Groyne 1.
