SD9963 : Bridge Number 41
taken 12 months ago, near to Threshfield, North Yorkshire, England
Bridge Number 41
This three arch bridge was built in a typically Midland Railway style by the Yorkshire Dales Railway to serve as a farm occupation bridge; also to carry the public bridleway from Threshfield Grammar School (now a primary school) to Threshfield over the railway.
This section of the railway closed to regular passenger traffic on 22nd September 1930 and the last freight train ran during the week ending 10 August 1969 with the track lifted shortly afterwards.
The bridge was number 41 on the Yorkshire Dales Railway, also known as the Grassington branch and, in spite of time elapsed since closure this bridge can still be referred to by the national Engineer's Reference Number, SKS2/41.
