Terraced housing, Philip Street
Terraced housing, Philip Street
This terraced row of houses on Phillip Street were built in the 1860s. A public house (Spring Tavern) stood on the corner of Phillip Street and Whitehouse Lane. The public house opened around 1871 and closed in 1968, and was later demolished. It was run by Bristol Brewery Georges & Co. Most of the other terraced housing on Phillip Street were destroyed during World War II and subsequently demolished. They have all been replaced with modern industrial buildings and yards.
