Pit complex at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Corby
Racing cars competing in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) are wheeled out into the pit lane at Rockingham Motor Speedway, looking eastwards from the main grandstand towards the pit garages, paddock, and circuit infield.
This photograph was taken on a warm afternoon in late August. By mid-afternoon the main grandstand offered both an excellent view of the track and welcome respite from the late summer sun, and with the circuit's other stands closed all weekend for undisclosed safety reasons, a seat here was a popular vantage point for the third and final BTCC race of the day.
Opened on a former quarry site in 2001 as part of an effort to bring American oval racing to the UK, Rockingham Motor Speedway was ultimately more successful hosting national events and track days on its twisty infield configurations. The venue later closed as a racing circuit in 2018 and has since been redeveloped into the Rockingham Logistics Hub.
