This is the south end of Victoria Street, looking north-north-east from Worcester Street at the junction with Cleveland Street and Salop Street.
The streets of Wolverhampton City centre have been a mess for years, and in some places this continues. Currently, the council is determined to make almost the whole of the city centre pedestrian only. Many people think the new restrictions are far too draconian. The pedestrianisation of Victoria Street is almost complete but not here! The council insists that footfall will improve. I wonder how many of the closed businesses will return. There are not many people about here today at 2pm on a sunny spring Tuesday afternoon. Incidentally, I have observed that the widespread block paving and slabbing which now exists is often of poor quality, too soon becoming cracked and uneven. Dudley Street has already been relaid once.
My current advice to people thinking about driving into the city is DON'T, unless you know exactly where you are going, exactly where you will be parking, and what route you will be using.
