Saying goodbye
Many of the tall trees here are Ash, self-sown since the Forestry Commission never managed the portion of the woods nearest the town after planting a block of Larch behind where I am standing in the 1950s.
After several false starts since 2019, the plan to defeat Ash dieback by removing the trees is said to be imminent. Felling will start in 48 hours from now. (In the end The last action seen in
TF0820 : The final moments was around 24 hours later).
