St. Mary's Church, Brownsea Island
St. Mary's Church on Brownsea Island. The church was built in the 1850s to serve a small community who lived on the island and worked in the island's pottery. The island is now managed by the National Trust.

Brownsea Island (also archaically known as Branksea) is the largest of the eight islands in Poole Harbour. The island is owned by the National Trust and much it is open to the public and includes areas of woodland and heath with a wide variety of wildlife. Access is by public ferry or private boat.

National Trust

A National Trust is an organization dedicated to preserving the cultural or environmental treasures of a particular geographic region. They generally operate as private non-profit organizations, although some receive considerable support from their national government. The first such organization was the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, which is the National Trust of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, formed in 1895 and operating as a charitable organisation.
