SP2260 : Modern houses at Jago Green, SnitterfieldJago Green commemorates Richard Jago (1715--1781), one of the "Warwickshire Coterie" of 18th-century poets, who was curate of Snitterfield from 1737 and vicar there from 1754 until his death. Descended from a Cornish family, he was born at Beaudesert and educated at Solihull School, where he formed a lifelong friendship with his fellow poet William Shenstone. A house at the school is now named after him. Jago's major work
Edge Hill, or The Rural Prospect Delineated and Moralized was published in 1767 in four volumes. It is an epic of topographical and historical reflection, inspired by the landscapes he loved.
