taken 4 years ago, near to Winchester, Hampshire, England
Built between 2018 and 2021 to replace the ageing River Park Leisure Park. It will include a 50m eight-lane swimming pool,
20m x 10m learner pool,
Splash pad and water confidence area,
multi-use sports hall,
Clip n climb facility,
Four squash courts with moveable wall to enable flexible use,
Hydrotherapy suite,
Treatment or personal therapy rooms,
Fitness suite with 200 workout stations,
Two large studios and one spin studio,
250 spectator seats overlooking the main swimming pool and a
Café.
The development was organised by Winchester City Council and the principal contractor was Willmott Dixon. "The leisure centre has been funded through a mixture of partner funding and prudential borrowing which is being paid back over the life of the Leisure Operator contract. This means that there will be no cost to the council tax payer." It appears the project cost is of the order of £25 million.
