Weardale bans cloud imports from Teesdale
It's just after three o'clock on a November afternoon and the photographer has been walking in Weardale, where it has been sunny for the entire 12 km trek reaching well over 600 m above sea level. In Teesdale, it has been heavy overcast all day, with a cloudbase about 400 m, so thick fog on the watershed. There's very little breeze, but Teesdale is desperately trying to export some of its cloud to Weardale (with which it has no trade deal - probably organised by the Tories...). Weardale is having absolutely none of it thank you very much and is evaporating the cloud as it pours over the tops, thus helping to maintain your photographer's tan (although, given the walking conditions, it might be peat-staining).
